Hey Austin I don’t know if you remember but I was the kid that bought the daiwa tatula from you when I was like 6 and my name is cooper I love watching your videos
Appreciate the video very informative learning myself how to do this trying to teach my 12-year-old and nine-year-old sons I’m a big saltwater fisherman from Long Island, New York about Montauk South Bay, Port, Jeff and Fisher St., Bass. Flounder, fluke things like that move down to Florida my boys like I said how to, freshwater fish and learn myself as I go a small little lake lake oakaheelee It’s in Lake Worth Florida Greenacres area.
Love the lead wrap idea. I've been digging the Berkeley Jerkshad. It's a little heavier kinda like the Caffeine Shad, but it has the split tail like the Zoom.
I was so happy when I got my Shimano Scorpion because I can now throw the flukes weightless on a baitcaster, but now I want some lead wire. I've had times that I couldn't get bit unless I worked it as fast as I could.
good stuff, Austin! Since I fish Lanier open water a lot for schoolers, this past yr been using the straight simple exposed J hook as well on spinning gear. I mean, why not?! Not around cover and better hookup ratio. No brainer! God bless!
I have a crazy good tip for rigging a fluke that I'll show you one day. I've only showed two other people and it greatly helped them. It'll literally triple your hookup percentage and give it more action
In Texas where I live there's no blue herring but the fluke is universal. I use mostly green pumkin and shad colors. Zoom Smokin Shad my fav. Gets bit.
Good idea wrapping the hook to weight it. Ive been useing 3/0 weighted ewg hooks past few years. Let's me fish them faster & deep but not as low profile & sleek as your set up. I figured fishing faster they wouldn't get a good look at it? Hard to beat fluke baits. My go to's are zoom supers, caffeine shads & streakz
Light weighted mustad grip n hook 4/0/5/0 for 5 & 7" zman soft jerkbait & Googan Dart 6-7" in white ice with a 6/0 weightless screw lock hook...Those 2 are my go to's....many 3-7 lb'ers last couple years
I catch a lot of fish on those colors you mentioned. Both my pb largemouth and smallmouth were caught on "white pearl" flukes. Next in line is a golden shiner sluggo. Why doesn't anybody fish sluggo's anymore?
Nice. I see you also use the chin technique to engage you reel. Disco Violet, Glimmer Blue, and Baitfish are great producers. Don't overlook the Bass Assassin 3" Baby Shad, it punches out of its weight class.
The “Loop knot gives it more action” is easily one of the biggest lies in fishing. When you pull the bait either with or without a loop knot, the bait moves in linear direction with the force of the pull, the loop does not provide more action as it is compressed to a tighter oval when the bait is pulled. At the release of the taught line the loop knot gives minimal if any extra added action.

Awesome bro! I appreciate you for tuning in! Hope you’ve been catching a bunch 😃!!!
Never thought about the straight worm hook for a fluke. Having the body more supported makes sense. Thanks man
Best set up without a doubt. Been throwing my fluke with that kind of hook for years.

Excellent video Austin, thank you!
My pleasure!

What exact kind of lead wire is that? I'm going to give it a try like that never seen it before thanks for the tip!!

Can’t wait to see it. But I really like the action with how I rig them and my hook up ratio. If I didn’t I would continue to tinker.
I want you to show me. The lake I fish is really tough. I feel the fish bump my fluke, but most of them don't get the hook.

NICE!
Yeah, that's a good color for me here in the Ozarks too.

I think they just react to it going fast which triggers them!
I’m hooked. Went out today and smashed them on Douglas. It’s not just a blue back herring thing.
I agree, but it is a MUST HAVE on our herring lakes! And not just a "must have" but must be proficient!

Well, so much for being quiet and stealthy.
Austin, Does the finish on this hook allow the hook to slide out more easily when setting the hook?
The hook should be exposed, so freaking hack on'em and let it rip. Going to make a part 2 video soon!
Awesome video
Thanks!
I guess im looking for some lead wire never heard of it before I did try a split lead weight but it looked kind of goofy on a hook
Austin, I watched your video and I saw you wrapping your wire around the hook, can I use a nail weight and get the same effect?
I guess but with the lead wire it falls perfectly horizontal and has the NASTIEST little shimmy you’ve ever seen!
What size lead wire do you recomend?
I ain’t picky if it’s smaller diameter just give it more wraps
Great video 👍
You need to com fish the hill with me I’m on the best bite right now and it’s crazy on a fluke and glide bait

Thanks for the education.
You bet!
Suspend strips work well also for weighting it...
Agreed

I’ve been into them Deps soft jerk baits. A light pricey to say the least. That 6 inch one has caught me some bigs.
They’re good 🔥
Can you buy extra tails for the DRT brown trout?
Drtusa.com I believe
@@Frostin_Austin do you have any in the store?
Unfortunately no 😭
Are these baits always reeled in fast ?
I vary the cadence I’ve seen sometimes they want it fast, but sometimes they want it slow with erratic pauses and twitches!
Wish I would of seen this before I went to Murray and fished the Pan American Championship 😅
What size lead wire do u used??
I ain’t picky if it’s smaller diameter just make more wraps

I use a treble hook in my flukes so even if the fish swipe at it, you have a chance to hook them
Love to fish flukes on a bait caster
I caught my P.B. on the original soft jerkbait, the Sluggo in Shad
I have found red hooks work better than bronze, bass like the color
Love it
👊🏽
Love your content but dang we need to get you a mic for better audio…. Specially with the chesty footage!
Just got a GoPro 11 the audio is crispy as bacon! Wait for the next couple of videos 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Ok Iaconelli
🤔
Stop saying booger…unless you’re picking your nose! It’s bugger, not booger.
What secret? He does the same thing everyone does with a fluke.
Vid is click bait!
Did you watch the same vid that I did bro?
I’ve had a lot of people reach out saying they struggle catching them/ hooking up on a fluke. So just trying to help people.

All the bass content this week is just piggybacking off the attention the fluke got at Murray- rather predictable
I guide on herring lakes, this is relevant content for my channel
