Does he at least mention the loading issues for bedrock on consoles (Nintendo Switch being the worst often taking 2-5 minutes to fully load in Minecraft and Microsoft along with skins and marketplace). Also the timing issues with redstone which causes the inability for creation of flying machines in bedrock (100% fixable by the way where UA-camrs claimed this isn't fixable and had no clue what they were saying). Corrupt world files in bedrock edition from the Microsoft Minecraft store/ marketplace. Most issues with bedrock are the fact mojang is now a stock owned company by Microsoft. Same goes for the performance in java, however the bedrock has also had extremely high performance drops in consoles and PC though less noticeable on PC. (Just had this comment come back in my notifications. Wanted to say some good news, in the bug reports Mojang has finally acknowledged that Redstone is completely wrong in the bedrock and they are going to fix it at an unscheduled update.... And it took how many reports for this acknowledgement... After all legacy console and bedrock are programmed in C++ and legacy console versions of Minecraft had proper redstone.)

  • @eliyahzayin5469
    @eliyahzayin5469 Рік тому +247

Some of the issues with performance mods are copyright reasons. There was a deal with Optifine a few years ago that fell through because Mojang only wanted the performance aspects.
But yeah, a large part of the divide between Java and Bedrock is preferences and familiarity rather than quality. As I've gained a taste for redstone I've essentially anchored myself to the version I learned it in; not because it's better but because it takes a huge commitment to understand the system.

a reason bedrock has better performance is its written i C++ Programming Language And Compiled Into Executables But Java Edition of Minecraft from it name its written in java programming language which runs in Java Operating System Or JVM (Java Virtual Machine) Mostly JVM Then Compiled To Bytecode Which is why it makes it slow plus JVM is virtual machine running a operating system and also took time to boot while java executables are running it makes minecraft really slow

this is why i think minecraft is looking at parity wrong. it's really awesome that there's all sorts of little differences and reasons that players like their version of minecraft, and if you try to take those away someone's always going to be disappointed. the small differences and weird exclusives are what make each version fun! parity should be about the big things that everyone is complaining about (health regen) and not the unique parts of the game that make it familiar and fun (big salmon, combat)

You can build on the nether roof in Java. The Wither is much harder in Bedrock. Mojang has made significant moves forward in parity (seed generation although structures are still different). Bedrook has no structures in superflat, no hardcore mode, not biome-only worlds, etc. The point is Mojang is basically coding everything twice and working through different sets of bugs. There are also Bedrock limitations because of mobile device/console support that hold back Java edition and even the PC Bedrock edition.

@@luiginotcool I'm a software engineer for the past 25 years. I am extremely familiar with both C++ and Java. Some of the differences are because of technology platform. For example, graphics rendering is better on Bedrock because of more native access to rendering engines. The main thing holding back Bedrock is simply needing to accommodate mobile devices. In theory, Bedrock should perform much better than Java simply because Java is an interpreted language vs native compiled.

I honestly think the render distance makes a big deal in how great the game looks. Standing in a massive lush cave or just cave or ravine in general and being able to see every block and how vast the world looks really makes it feel more adventurous and increases the curiosity. Even looking over a massive amount of terrain makes you feel so little and that you have to explore every crevasse

It's useless arguing what version of the game is "better" because everyone has their own preferences on how they wanna play Minecraft. And even if you don't there's options to add mods that quickly let you access the mod folder to add mods in game. There's also mods that do allow for one-click multiplayer every similar to bedrock which even can be installed via the near seemless curseforge, the one I use is called the essentials mod and it's pretty vanilla friendly.
My setup is basically just a few performance mods plus the essentials mod for the vanilla gaming experience with Java that I have always wanted. It even somehow runs better than bedrock on my laptop because bedrock apparently doesn't know what to do with the i9-12900h and RTX 3070 ti inside.

It would have to be some really dated or low end laptop not designed for gaming to have significant issues running java at least 8 chucks (the minimum at which I think is reasonably playable), especially with the correct mods and settings.
Yes, bedrock can run better at higher render distances, but the input lag this adds to the game is really noticeable on more recent versions and the engine doesn't utilize high end hardware nearly as well because what I can best describe as engine limitations or poor resource optimizations, it's bad enough that my newest laptop somehow runs the bedrock edition worse than my previous one did. As a matter of fact, my laptop even before that one which had an i3 and uhd 620 integrated graphics, ran bedrock almost as good as my second one did despite having a HDD and only 8Gbs of cheap single channel memory.
I know bedrock has it's place, however java edition is the best my opinion in terms of mods, and it has much more options in terms of tweaking to get the most out of your experience.

5 reasons I prefer Java Edition: (It's not just blank criticism, make your opinion after reading the whole comment, or just don't)
    1. UI: The Bedrock UI has huige buttons and feels so overwhelming, and
    2. the UI lags. It takes a whole seconds to open chat and you often have to again click the text bar so u can't spam commands and the menu transitions are so time consuming and also lag, so it just freezes in the middle of a transition. And. like you can see in the clip with the cow comparison, in bedrock the cow just freezes a moment after landing, before it starts to run. It's just so un-smooth.
    3. Java has so many great mods and you can play on free modded Servers with 40 mods or so
    4. In a friends world, if you click out of the minecraft window, you just get kicked out of the world.
    5. The combat system is stuck in 1.8.9 and is still just spam clicking and who clicks faster wins.
But these things only count for PC, on mobile, you need huge buttons for your fingers, so there is no other way to do it.
So bedrock only partially sucks on PC, but is great in all the other cases, and on PC it isn't bad either, so I like it too. (And it's the only place I can play minecraft with a somehow acceptable pikmin mod/addon, so I really need bedrock too.

The optifine and Sodium mods change the game by allowing the JavaScript to access multi core functionality.
Java allows only a single core to process everything. It makes the game a multi core operating environment.
It changes KEY aspects to the functionality of the game though. Like removes Volumetric fog and other effects and replaces them with low quality versions or “rendering” ghosts.
It basically takes everything that’s far away and loads a psudo version of it that has no actual game data other than visual data. And when you get close it switches it to the “actor” or actual thing that the game calls for.

As a person who moved from bedrock to Java, trying to do anything professionally is such a pain on bedrock, no litematica, no QOL mods, less options. It’s a pain when you want to make anything fancy anywhere or tune it for you, it’s a pain. Less mod capability on bedrock, no building plugins, worse commands. Anything to do on bedrock that requires building anything in creative or a map, bedrock is my last choice. With terrible commands, slower building, and more bugs you need to iron through it’s just a pain. Though I do give server hosting to bedrock, it’s 6x more efficient to host on the newest version. However for said servers your anticheat needs to be leagues better (and most aren’t) compared to Java. On bedrock you can straight up give yourself items and teleport around the world. But on a survival side, bedrock is ok. It’s bearable but anything to do with farms on bedrock is just terrible, it’s slower, bigger, and less efficient, poor redstone, poor rates. I personally don’t like the PVP on bedrock too much either, they have half of the Java PVP features with their spam clicking PVP, with shield disabling (and shields by themselves on bedrock) it isn’t really as balanced as it is on Java. If there are any other bedrock players I’d be happy to see your side on my points.

I hope I don't sound too toxic but as a bedrock player myself I think you're making things sound worse then they actually are. For example in your comment you talk a lot about modding but as a casual player (most Bedrock players are) I don't really care about mods and am happy with the ones we have, I have texture packs, great behaviour packs and much more which makes everything you said was bad much better, Mojang is already working on modding capabilities for Bedrock and soon we might have even better mods and (maybe) rival Java, also I've built many farms in my life and none of them have been too big or slow. Going on to your take on commands, I am kind of mad about how bad the Commands are on Bedrock but I don't think they're 'terrible', We can do (almost) everything that Java can Do but it might take a few more steps. Also let's remember that Java PVP used to be like Bedrocks and that many people in the Java community like the old style and may even move over to Bedrock for it. I have played on Bedrock for ages and have never found a problem with the PVP and think that there is no real Spam-Click aspect since just spamming will let the opponent get an opening on you. I have played Bedrock sincere I was a child and find most of the things you said are very minor issues to me but I guess people who have Laptops and PCs are used to having stronger more powerful systems and better games and aren't used to the more optimised, more open versions. hope I didn't seem to mean in that and if I did, sorry lol.

I understand what I'm saying is propably a huge nitpick, but it just FEELS true to me. btw not even the console edition made me feel this way, XBOX360 minecraft felt just as alright as java, its a bedrock specific issue i have that i cannot point a finger to where they went wrong.

5:55 the reason they "cant" do that is
    A. they cant use modded code directly, any optimisations have to be found and implemented by the mojang team.
    B. if they spent effort making java perform better, it would make bedrock look worse.
Also, on top of having the advantage of being able to take advantage of multiple CPU cores, bedrock makes a bunch of compromises of its own (consistent redstone/hopper interactions being one of them) in order to achieve its better performance
I want bedrock to be able to supercede java edition, but it wont. Microsoft wont put effort into the UX, they wont put effort into making the Marketplace better, they wont put effort into the small details that add up to make bedrock seem half-baked because none of that directly contributes to increasing the playerbase or increasing how much money that playerbase is putting into the game. The only reason Java Edition has survived so long is because Microsoft know mow much of an uproar it would cause if they discontinued it in favor of bedrock

Toycat you mentioned playing with a controller on Bedrock. There is a mod on the Java side called "Controllable" that allows you to use a controller. I just started a Java world after playing Bedrock for sometime now. While this mod isn't as good as the native controller support that Bedrock has it gets the job done. I basically use it for movement, mining, harvesting crops and cutting down trees. I use the mouse for crafting, inventory, chests and trading. You still have to use a keyboard for JEI if you have that mod installed.

I am a mod junkie so the idea of using mods such as Create made me switch to Java right away after i had an opportunity to try it out but i do have respect for players that are enjoying the game as is. I have conditioned myself to the idea that my modpack is the most superior way to play the game which holds me back most of the time and ties me to older versions of the game. Updating a hurdle of 100+ mods that is my modpack is quite a task as you can imagine, so i have to wait a millennia until most of the mods are ported to newer versions of the game and furthermore until i am not lazy enough to update it. And yes, the performance is comparable to the health condition of a dying disabled elderly drug addict that is going through a withdrawal and an overdose at the same time. My game is on life support at this point although i have cleaned up a bunch of mods recently. The poor performance was the initial reason i chose to opt for bedrock instead, but after they had merged both versions and i received Java for free, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. Well, at least until i have discovered mods. Despite all of this, the Create mod along with others bring thousands of possibilities in the game so i don't think i am missing out on much. The only reasons i strive to update to 1.19.3/1.20 are the inventory tweaks they have implemented. Not much but making Java's absolutely horrible creative inventory a little bit tolerable is a price to pay even if it means i will have to abandon some of the mods and spend ages sorting them.

I also remember playing pocket edition and using blocklauncher mods. The good times. Another reason I switched to bedrock is that Java was so laggy. There is no reason why a simple block game should be that laggy. I now play windows 10 edition and the performance is great.

there is no tradeoff with the good performance mods, just that mojang, itty bitty small indie studio that they are, are too lazy to implement these changes from open source mods.
sodium/rubidium make client performance buttery smooth
lithium/canary optimize tons of things and can almost halve server tick times
phosphor/radon massively improve lighting performance and fix tons of lighting bugs
saturn and ferritecore make minecraft, particularly modded, use way less memory
    krypton/pluto improve networking
lazyDFU stops the game from setting up all the tools to upgrade a world between versions *every time you play*
and none of these mods change anything whatsoever to how the game works. you could drop these into any world and everything would work the same just run better.
and there are also mods like Alternate Current which make redstone dust more efficient and its update order actually understandable.
and every single mod i just listed is completely open source. there's no excuse that mojang just doesnt know how to do it
and mojang *has* brought on several mod developers to work with them, and they even tried to merge optifine into vanilla at some point and it just didnt happen cause the author is an egomaniac high off his own farts and didnt wanna do it cause mojang didnt want the zoom feature. none of this would happen because the authors of these mods are well-adjusted people, and as opposed to optifine, again, all these mods are open source

At the moment that’s still true, although the rendering distance for Bedrock edition is just sad in comparison to PS Edition. If Mojang can improve rendering distance for console that’d be swell; they’re several other issues needing to be resolved before I’d fully commit to Bedrock Edition.

I play technical and community-based minecraft primarily on Java, but I watch ibxtoycat because the love of grinding in Minecraft and having a meta-relationship with a fun personality are universal, no matter which version we play. Getting to see Bedrock's quirks is like a bonus and feels very fitting for toycat's personality. Is he hipster? Is he based? I dunno. I just like the channel, and it has a unique feel compared with others whether related to Bedrock or not.
My kid likes Bedrock for its easily accessible variety, mini-game servers, and better performance on his older laptop (I don't get around to updating his Java performance plugins to the latest version too often). Personally, I do think it's nice to have the cross-platform support to play on my Phone or Switch with Bedrock, especially in my main Java-based server which supports Bedrock players including account linking.
If my friends had introduced me to Bedrock as my first version of Minecraft, I'd probably be annoyed at the lack of technical Bedrock guides available, so ultimately I'm glad I use Java, but then again maybe I'd have found a different way to enjoy the game if I'd started with Bedrock.

However I have spent money on the old legacy PS3 and PS4 versions and I understand that after all this is a business. To go along with the idea of performance there are certain things about bedrock that I like as well, mainly that more often then not the game just works. I've been having a real tuff time the last few months getting the Java version running without the game crashes on launch so at least when all else with Java fails I can still play the bedrock edition during that time. I’ve been playing bedrock for 8 years and Java for 5, and I’ve never had most of the problems with Java that ur talking about. I have amazing frame rates and render distance on an old laptop. Also, there’s still controller support on Java. My sister sometimes wants to play Java on my laptop, but she prefers controller over mouse and keyboard, and there’s no problem. All you have to do is connect your controller to your computer and then you can play Java with a controller. Also, I feel like underwater minecarts are not that big of a deal considering there’s such thing as an underwater mine cart that can move around in all directions freely, which is called a boat. I also don’t really like the weird world generations, chunk errors, and rare structures that are way too easy to find because those just eliminate the challenge of the game. However, I do agree with the problems of cross-platform support. Bedrock edition really nailed it in that department and I feel like it should be added to Java. Ultimately though, I feel like the benefits of Java heavily outweighs the downsides, but you’re free to play whatever version you want, nobodies stopping you, so in the end, just try to have the most fun with the game in the way that suites you best

@@titans2720 I mean, I think they can. I have a $300 Series S and, before it was patched, I put an addon that would allow you to run Minecraft at 120fps (normally runs at 60). It ran perfectly, no frame drops, and at max render distance too (28 chunks on Xbox). So for sure it would be able to run at the very least at 1080p 60fps with Ray Tracing. As for the Series X and PS5, they are even more powerful. I mean, even the Xbox One & PS4 were supposed to have the Super Duper Graphics Pack which ended up being cancelled. Those are last-gen consoles. So yeah, they are 100% more than capable enough. These consoles are sold at a loss, made up for in Xbox Live Gold & PS+ membership monthly revenue, so they are much more powerful than you may think. A $300 Series S is equivalent to a PC worth $750-$850 at least.
The Ray Tracing was also demoed multiple times in 2020 on the Series X, where it ran flawlessly, before then being cancelled after the release of the next-gen systems. Right now I’m basically playing Minecraft on Next-Gen but on the Last-Gen version, which sucks. It’s not even Next-Gen Optimised.

The only reason I play Java over bedrock is because it feels less clunky overall. There is just a couple weird VERY minor quirks that make it unplayable which would be so easy to fix! There is just 3 things that could easily be fixed to make me enjoy bedrock over java they are:
    1. The menus are clunky, however not the ui. Bedrock has a weird scrolling when you open your inventory or a container or open a new menu and its horrible for motion sickness and it also makes it a pain to check multiple chests among other things like if its laggy it takes way too long to readjust. This could very easily be fixed by just adding a reduced motion setting.
    2. The server side performance is really bad. This may not be so easy to fix but this was a huge issue java had when 1.3 released when they made single player world run on an internal server, they fixed it pretty quickly afterwords but on bedrock it has always been very bugfy and annoying and it makes the game 10x harder to play with how mobs and stuff move around and what not. I wouldn't care if this didn't affect single player but it unfortunately does. It also makes it for some reason we can't pause?
    3. Again not a huge issue and one that could be fixed very easy, regeneration is just too slow, not really much to say about this, again, very easy and very simple fix.
If even one of these issues get fixed, I would very happily switch to bedrock because of the advantage of the 5 things you mentioned in this video.

One thing I love about bedrock is that tipped arrows are more accessible
On Java if I want tipped arrows to be my main arrow, I need to respawn the dragon and collect dragons breath so I can make lingering potions to make my tipped arrows
But on bedrock, I can put a potion inside of a cauldron and then click it with my arrows to tip them. Thats just way better design and allows to realistically use a pretty cool feature. It makes them a mid game item as opposed to an end game item, and I feel thats an appropriate change for what they are.
Also movable tile entities by default. As a technical player that is a godsend
Speaking of technical aspects of the game that isn't to say bedrock is without problems
    For example... pistons cause lag
So if I want something that uses a piston wall like a block cuber for a tree farm... whelp gotta deal with lag now
But the real reason I play bedrock is because I do not own a device that can run Java in a way thats as stable as my bedrock eperience. Once I can I will certainly try Java. Actually I did try Java at one point using a ripped version a friend gave me because he wanted to play minecraft with me. So I did try it and it was interesting. I do have to say playing with a keyboard and mouse is weird to me and something I'll have to get used to because I've never been mainly a PC player so I don't have alot of experience with using a keyboard to play games. I want to like it I really do, especially if I wanted to play modded minecraft I'd go straight to Java. It's just awkward to play and I also can't play it smoothly on my device just yet

I play both versions but honestly I'd never play bedrock if my friends didn't play that version. I just find Java more enjoyable.
Being able to put anything in the off hand, hardcore mode, the easier farms and more compact redstone, everything about boats, the combat system, F3, subtitles, and I'm sure I'm missing many more.
I like some things about bedrock but I also really hate some things.
Obviously big salmon is a huge plus for bedrock though

@@hkgehts9061 I can make endermen stay in boats with mods? And make right click use the shield instead of having to crouch?
      Genuinely didn't know that.
Also I didn't know there was a mod to make iron farms work with three villagers and to introduce quasi-connectivity exist in bedrock. This is all actually mind-blowing.

(Because obviously it works the other way too. So for example I can move cheats by installing free mods on java whereas I can't do that on my Playstation Bedrock game)

I've once tried the java version on 1.16 but it was weird to me. I died a lot on easy mode, but at least I defeated the dragon, got the elytra and won the raid. I'm now only sticking to bedrock edition.

The only thing I really like from java is the costum preset. You could have single biome world on deserted land or superflat, but with netherite block as a placeholder to dirt. Making the survival experiences more fun.

I wish they would merge both Java and Bedrock so you can not only have a uniform experience but you can play with anyone on any platform
