Minecraft Java Player Plays Bedrock | Is Bedrock Edition Bad?

- Bedrock vs Java, Java vs Bedrock, You've probably wondered.
I am a Minecraft Java Edition player and have been for about 2 years now. More specifically, I have been a Hardcore Minecraft player for the past 8 months. For a while now, I've been wondering "What's different in Bedrock Edition?" and today, I play through the whole game in survival to find out for myself.
From Spawn to Dragon Fight, I discover many things that are different from Java. Some good. Some bad. Some just make no sense at all. After the grind of it all, I share my thoughts. The Mongo Bedrock Edition Review.
If you enjoy the video, come check me out on Java Edition. We're approaching day 2000 in the Hardcore Series with Episodes out every Wednesday on UA-cam and Streams every Friday on Twitch! Thanks for watching!

I Have Fought Your Wither 👀 ua-cam.com/video/W6NbUE5VYOA/v-deo.html
I love bedrock but I also like Java
bedrock good bruh
Uhhh ok
I hope you enjoyed
some info you should know if you ever do return to bedrock, sprint jumping is bad idea, it was the reason your hunger was draining so fast, i reccomend every now and then sprint jumping, but don't do it all the time.
the reason why there is animations and items lack behind your cursor in your inventory is because people on bedrock usually use their controller, which the controller cursor is much slower than a mouse cursor.
Tipped Arrows
you can put a potion in a cauldron and tip up to a stack of arrows and they will all have the potion effect (just a random thing i would tell you)
By sneaking, looking at the ground in front of yourself, and holding down their jump and place buttons, a pillar of blocks to the sky can be built without using scaffolding. This technique is similar to pillaring, but lets the player remain on the ground and place blocks twice as fast.
also strongholds do NOT only spawn under villages, just the generation system makes it more common to find one under a village, though it is like a 10% chance or something
bows got worse accuracy when crossbows got added, making crossbows better.
the dragon removes water source blocks.
swords wear faster BECAUSE of the combat system, which is just clicking compared to the new combat system which has less uses of the sword, because the less you swing the more damage you do etc.
gold tools are literally creative mode in the nether lmao. (though they break stupid fast because they break stuff so fast) gold tools are honestly better than diamond picks in the nether.
My problem is. Many pc gamers probably have played 10 years of console and then make fun of everyone on console
I did that cus i got java in 2017 and before that i played xbox 360 but j still play it
Yup
that validates their opinion?
Damn right. And that's every PC Elitist's story in a nutshell: so uhhh i played on console and now i play on pc so im mustard rice lolol and everyone who play on console is a peasent (i misspelled peasant on purpose because some elitists write it like that) and uhh i get 2652 fps in rdr2 and 30fps is so laggy and uh console games suck but i emulate them because yes, and i use xbox controller lolol. Uhhh and i think gta sa lowest settings 800x600 5fps on pc has better graphics than gta v on consoles and it is much more playable. Uhh and i use my vomit after playing on console for my watercooling.
I can’t play pc at all it’s too hard
four things about bedrock:
swords are better than axes
jumping gets rid of hunger bars
monsters only spawn when it's thunder-storming & at night not when it's just raining
never fight the wither
ooooohhhh. I've always thought that monsters spawned when it was just raining.
So true about that last one
@slumberness that's not entirely true. There are some amazing things on there, such as, the sonic pack, ducktales map, and more.
In java edition swords are still better than axes they reload faster
About the last 1 I have 3 beacons it wasn't that that hard due to trapping it under obsidian so it couldn't fly away it didn't even try to fight back even though I was with 2 people I could deal with a wither by myself but that's probably because I had full netherite with prot 4 and a sword with sharpness 5
The game rules like TNT explodes, fire spreads, and mobs drop loot are there for creative players. As someone who likes making mobs fight or fighting mobs in an arena using command blocks and such to balance and make things more interesting the mob loot one is actually super useful. You get to a point where there's just mob loot everywhere and the only way to get rid of it is to kill all entities. Survival only players won't understand most game rules or commands and think a lot of them are useless when they all can be super useful in certain situations. Hence why they're added.
And to prevent griefing when playing with friends and you're building a lot of stuff.
@@Artician that too. Some people don't use TNT enough to warrant risking griefing by leaving TNT explodes on. The more options like these we have regardless of how useless they may seem to some players will always ultimately lead to a better game for everybody.
Actually if you do /kill @e[type=item] it will clear all floor items
@@AnOmnimors yeah, but do you really wanna be typing that every minute?
@@swagmiredoesall I do...
The two main things i hate about Bedrock are the shield and health regen. In Java, you right click to pull up your shield, but in Bedrock you have to crouch to use it, which isn't very fun to do (especially with a gamepad).
In Java and Legacy you immediately begin healing once your hunger meter is full. In Bedrock, it takes a few seconds between every time you get a bit of health back, which could get you killed depending on the scenario.
Yeah bedrock is for tryhards ya know players who does not like regen 😆😆😆
i play 1.8 so the hunger is closser to bedrock and blocking exists instead of shealds.
@@Zscfury bedrock sucks

True

As a bedrock player it’s so weird seeing him use an axe because they do less damage
No in Java
@@ruddyxmax he is not playing java
On Java axes deal more damage than a sword, but take longer to swing.
@@someguyness that makes sense, because IRL axes generally have more weight and swing with more force than a sword. But knights use swords and not axes because in war, an m16 is much better to have than a cannon, even if the cannon is more powerful
For my whole life on bedrock an axe just feels like a stump on a stick.
As a bedrock player personally I don't like all the micro transactions but it doesn't really matter since you can still import addons and anything else from external sources. Thankfully mojang seems to be working on parity a lot now since bedrock now has 64 bit seeds and almost the same generation on Java, but simple things like steak being called cook beef still haven't been changed.
There are no micro transactions? You don't need anything else to play Minecraft so why do anything extra?
@@furriesinouterspaceUnitedBedrock literally has an official shop called the Marketplace with community content. It’s not terrible; it’s mostly sourced by outside creators, and there’s a few things that are kinda neat. I personally don’t buy community content (I’ve grown up on bedrock, and I hate it), but I can tolerate it’s existence
@@Symmetry_Obsessed_Freak an official shop that no one who actually plays the game uses
@@Symmetry_Obsessed_Freak bro, people make a living off of the marketplace. Microsoft have made it so people can create mods, addons, maps, or whatever, but they can actually make money off of it. i think its a really good thing.
@@Ethan_Cubed I respect that. And also, I never said there was inherently wrong with people making a living off the marketplace content. I’m just saying it’s not something I use
Honestly I've been playing Minecraft since 3rd grade, I'm out of high school now, and whether it's mobile, PC or console edition, it's always been saddening to me to see people being so "this is soo much better than this", really as long as people are having fun it doesn't matter, and you don't really need to rate the versions. There'll always be good and bad things but it seems like the modern mc community rips itself apart over something this dumb.
This is an acceptable opinion
Yeah it’s sad to see the Mc community doing this and honestly I like both versions
it isnt dumb to expect one of the most popular games ever made to try a liiitttle bit harder lol
@@RBLXShard Yeah
I hate that Mojang is making money on our backs : Java Edition, a game you only pay once and unlock access to infintie modding abilities, against Bedrock, where everything is locked behind a paywall.
It wouldn't even surprise me at some point that Bedrock updates become DLCs or that some in game content cannot be interacted with unless you pay a pass or something. I'm not even mentionning the hilariously unfair marketplace (kids are exposed to money transactions), where stolen assets from Java modders and other non-Minecraft-related artists sprawl at every corner.
The reason a ton of features are clouding java today is because of Mojang's policy with Bedrock. They fabricated the hate of one community against another.
I heard this man say "boats are good for the nether" and I remembered that boats don't negate fall damage in bedrock and instantly said "oh no"

I played java for my first time today after a few years of bedrock.
I changed because my pc is a bit older (750GTX - i5 4th gen) and the "recommended" settings are shown as lower in java on the minecraft website.
1st thing I experienced was a really long time to create a world, and then it was super laggy for a minute before I could move normally.
2nd thing was that it kind of looked like a old version, it was ugglier somehow, less "polished", made me want to use a shader (but it would make things even laggier, which was the sole reason I was trying java).
3rd thing, combat was way to easy. It was quite hard to kill rabbits when I just launched the world (the cooldown thing), but when I got to explore caves and the nether, easy peasy. Shield with right click? Absurd damage on axe crit? Mobs take a lot longer to attack, and apparently are kind of dumber. Dragon was never easier for me.
In the end, I don't think it's worth for me to move to java. I'd only play it if I was going to go online with friends or try modded stuff.
Also, for the bow, on bedrock I usually climb one tower and from there, being on the same height as the other towers I clean them all.
"never teach dumb people"

What you explain as "overall feel" that you like very probably has a lot to do with the game being smoother due to a more optimal set of technologies being used as opposed to Java. On java we just adjusted to it and grew to like it. This is why the combat snapshots exist to hopefully one day make a combat update for both, though we'll probably never see them become a proper update.
It's not actually exactly how it used to be on Java. Apparently Bedrock Edition has a slight cool down during which no hit can be made, where as in Java Edition 1.8, no such limitation was in place, in fact, while there is now a "cool down" in Java Edition, you are actually never prevented from hitting. you just deal more damage depending on the state of the cool down bar.

Really? My pc is absolute garbage but bedrock has still been running fine for me
Hey Dany
I know this video is old, but just wanted to share my experience with the two versions.
Bedrock is way easier to play with friends in their survival worlds, the game generally runs alot smoother, got wider color support for map arts, behaviour packs can be quite cool, being able to use music discs in hopper etc. My one criticism to bedrock is the pure amount of bugs, I know it's said often, but it can be really bad, in my long term survival world, all the endgates stopped working, also the end would regenerate endstone and replace my builds there, thankfully I got backups.
Java I definetly think is the more complicated version, if you like technical stuff like working with villagers, redstone such as flying machines, wood farm etc java got that. In general I very rarely, if ever see any gamebreaking bugs in Java. Being able to build above bedrock for farms, nether hub/not having to dig tunnels, mob spawn rate is definetly superior. My drawback with Java is the default performance. I would borderline say it's unplayable, and my pc is pretty high end. Playing multiplayer on your own worlds is much more annoying, which most would probably end up paying for a realm/third party server.
Overall, both versions are great, but they definetly got some pros & cons. I don't think there is a bad version. Just play whatever version that's available for you. Also I was able to repair the endgates, converted the world to Java and patched the bugs with worldedit. No problems with endstone regenerating on Java.
What PC specs do you have? I'm rocking a Ryzen 5 5600X and an RTX 2060 and I get a steady 144 FPS on my world in Java, and that's without performance-enhancing mods (not that I have much stuff built, but still). If I install Sodium, for example, then I have absolutely no issues with framerate.
If your PC really is pretty high end, there is absolutely no way you cant run Minecraft Java perfectly smoothly even with light shaders. It's less optimized than bedrock but it ain't Cyberpunk either.
for the multiplayer problem just use the essential mod.

That's another thing I realized when I started playing again...skeletons now have crazy aiming accuracy and firing rate. I had one trapped behind a door and opening the door even when he wasn't facing me I was getting shot before the door fully opened while he's still in mid rotation to aim at me
Uh, for me, who plays Bedrock on a phone, it seemed weirdly easy to dodge arrows from a skeleton by moving sideways
Skeletons are the bane of my existence before I get a shield

They're using aim bot but I can't, amazing

Yeah, bedrock had a huge problem with its frequency of abandoned villages for quite a long time. It has actually been fixed, so they now have the same frequency as on Java lol
Was that really an issue? I think you and this guy were just "lucky" with them, because they're really rare. Last time I stumbled upon one was like 4 years ago. It wasn't until I was playing Java edition yesterday and found one.
@@salasyk8708 i recall it being an issue, i had several worlds on bedrock a few years back where ALL of the villages seemed tl be abandoned
@@salasyk8708 According to the wiki, there's a 30% chance of finding an abandonded village on bedrock, but only 2% in java
Not really
@@salasyk8708 Nope, they were definitely common, I remember I made a bet with my friend who played java that the village I found would be an abandoned one on my bedrock world. easiest 20 bucks of my life
I did the same thing from java to bedrock. its not that arrows and bows are different. its that the hitbox the crystals are lower than that of java and it doesn't even move. so you have to aim at the center between the base and the bobbing crystal.
Something I've noticed with people who have problems on bedrock is that they are almost always playing it on pc or xbox. On a ps4 for example I almost never had any problems with minecraft. It was rare that my gale got laggy, I experienced almost no bugs that people speak of(like the player falling through blocks when coming back from the end). The only times when my game had lag was when there were way too many item frames around as the game counts them as entities or something. And even then my game would slow down only when looking at the direction where the item frames were
Your hunger is going down faster because how movement depletes saturation works differently than on Java
On java, sprinting uses a considerable amount of hunger, but you loose significantly less while you’re in the air (usually from jumping). This makes jump-sprinting extremely efficient (on top of already being faster than regular sprinting), as it uses about as much hunger as walking.
On bedrock however, this is backwards. Sprinting costs little hunger, but jumping is extremely taxing, meaning regular sprinting is more efficient. Many experienced Java players coming to bedrock lose hunger quicker because of this difference, and confuses the hell out of people like me who switch depending on when I have a working PC.
Ohhh I had no idea. No wonder I’d lose hunger SO fast. I’ve never experienced Java so I assumed it always went down that fast.
Tnx for the tip
I actually never thought about that..
I thought it was java
Yeah jumping depleting hunger so fast on bedrock sucks super hard when digging down to mine, it's so bad I've gotten into the habit of making stairs for my mines because I can't be bothered with losing so much hunger from just freaking jumping...
So that's why I starve so fast in java. Thanks

As a Java player, my biggest complaint with Bedrock is the needless hassles. Why are recipes different, why is redstone different, why can’t I offhand, why can’t I duck with a trapdoor, why does everything take longer in a game you can’t mod? Shouldn’t everything be easier and faster? While complete inability to mod is per se a dealbreaker for me, the unending list of pointless complications would be the same.
It's called differences
Simple answer for redstone if changed players who built old ones would complain, for offhand PE and recipes are changing lets say boat is now as in java which is to me dumb cosidering it needed showel as paddle and it would make sense considering java recipe would techicaly make old boat from ancient versions
The crafting is slightly different but thunga is ut tells you what you would need it the quick crafting
He mentioned that the game is constantly trying to spawn you in plains biomes, when I’ve spawned in the cold tundra to the tropical jungle to the tops of trees.
