Carving is the most fun that I’ve ever had on a skateboard. When you get it just right it’s such an amazing feeling
💙🛹🙌🏽🛹💙
Like being on an amusement park ride!
That's why I want to learn it. We now have a nice little new bowl in town and I hope this carving will give me that surf feeling while living faaar away from the ocean and surfing...
It really is man!!! All I can do is just carve the skatepark rn lol I can barely even Ollie. But when I ride in, I love to hit those ramps so fast and get a nice carve. My inspo is the 70s skate scene. Whenever I get high and just barely make it the expression “ride it like a wave” just pops into my head lol
Right!!!
I’ve street skated all my life. The last 12 off the board due to knee surgery’s. In my days we only had mini ramps and launch ramps steps and maybe if we were lucky and lived near a skatepark we could go to that. I wasn’t so lucky but I’ll say this I picked my board at 50 after 12 years off it and I’m just having more fun watching these videos and then going to the skateparks that are many in the Atlanta area . I could Ollie garbage cans when I was young but Learning to carve and pump throughout the park and learn lines is way more fun at my age . Skateboarding has saved me again. Thanks for making these videos guys/girls.
Cheers Michael! 🛹🙏🏽🛹
I really appreciate your explanation of tricks and transitioning riding. I'm 58 and getting back on the board after 40 years off. Thanks again!!
Thanks Mark!!! 💙🛹🙏🏽🛹💙
Wow. Kudos bro. I'm so sore at 35 after a couple of weeks, I can't imagine what it would feel like if I waited a decade or so mor
Carving is becoming a lost art and it's pity because it's so much fun. Carving generates speed and is essential.
💙🛹💙
That's true. Watching The Dogtown boys made me wanna learn to carve at a young age. Tony Alva did it best
Bout to master it 💯💯💯
everyone i’ve know carves
I probably watched your video 15 times yesterday. On my way to the skate park, my first time to be at the skate park in my whole entire life on the board, the feeling was phenomenal can’t even describe it, thank you for all your tutorials, JB🙏🏻🤙🏼😎

@@adamfahey5774 How did it go Adam? I'm 30, started last year but explored skateparks for the first time a few days ago. I'm in awe at the people carving there and really want to understand pumping! I go there again in a few hours, can't wait!
Same 40 and just started - amazing to have little goals. No pressure just total fun!!
All those powerslide variations on the vert wall were awesome! 💕👏👍 Never seen all those. Thanks JB 🤙
PS- think I need loosen my trucks more was having the damndest time getting a full carve in without having to kick turn a little at the end, but the bowls at the park are a bit tight to be able to come in at more of an angle
Yes loosen your trucks little by little as you gain confidence and control of them

Thx, the low center of gravity piece is what I am missing as I always either run out of juice on the FS and run out, or have to lick turn out on BS. I guess I need to bend the knees more. 🤜🛹🔥
Exactly! Keep stretching so you can get a deeper bend in the knees for a lower center of gravity and more acceleration out of your carve and pump. 💙🛹💙

I skated my first pool today and it was a lot of fun. I didn't even go that high. I like how he shows how the ball uses the line. I am definitely going to use these tips, loosen my trucks and try my cruiser board next time as the wheels are larger and the board is bigger than my skateboard.

Sweet tutorials bro....is it weird to feel more comfortable going frontside though!! I can frontside carve our small bowl but cant go backside!!!
Thanks 🙏🏽, it’s not weird, but it is rare. Most people panic from leaning backwards because they can’t see or get to their knee slide as easy. Use it to your advantage! Should make learning much easier for you! 💙🛹💙
I could watch this like a TV series!
💙🛹🙌🏽🛹💙
I skate my trucks max palmer loose so tightening them helped actually me
Lol! That’s really rare but glad you got it 💙🛹
2:39 - Awesome slide. What kind of wheels were used to allow the slide? What kinds of wheels could prevent slides from happening and grip better for faster/tighter bowl carves? Riding an 18" hybrid with reverse kingpin trucks, so I could try larger, grippy downhill wheels unless there's a threshold we typically shouldn't cross.
Thank you 🙏🏽 I was skating on really hard wheels in this video. You can slide on grippy wheels but it is usually more challenging. Watch my Powerslide video to learn more about slides. The main factor for wheels is doing research to buy quality urethane. For longboards I typically use orangatang and for skateboards I now use Bones SPF or STF.
I really appreciate your donation and support of the channel. 🛹🙌🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🛹

I have a hard time getting near the coping, regardless of the height or speed I'm going. I can carve at 12 feet super fast but can't hit coping on a 4 foot ramp really. It sketches me out for some reason. I can rock to fakie though.
Use knee pads to help you push yourself to the next level but practice fast reflexes so you get to your slide as soon as possible 💙🛹💙

Do you have any tips on switch carving?
I started fakie then slowly transformed into switch 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessonsyes! While I was practicing switch carving on flat I noticed something important: how close your foot is to the center of your tail. For some reason, the closer your back foot is to the center of your tail, it becomes easier to balance when it comes to your front foot being close(r) to the front two bolts.
I've always felt more comfortable going frontside for some reason. As a result my frontside carves are my better, and higher, than my backside ones. My friends, who are much better at bowls, were all saying start frontside, but I immediately felt comfortable going the other way and picked it up quite quickly that way.
💙🛹💙
Carving frontside if u don’t have enough speed to beat gravity,
Would u just fall straight down?
Yes 💙🛹💙
1:59 is how i fell and sprained ankle yesterday... The connection between ground and ramp is so abrupt in our skatepark, like this : __/
so i went flying face first and ankle bent somewhere 🤕
Rest and heal up! 💙🛹💙 more Quality videos coming soon, please help me share this channel with your friends so I can help more people
One question so you lean forward while carving?
No, you lean in the direction you want to turn, but I’m interested in why you ask that? 🙃
@@SkateparkLessons because I don’t want not stable and one more more question how would I stay stable without falling
That joint
💙🛹💙
how do you stop wheelbite
Good question Nathan! As you keep skating you will learn your leaning limit before you get heavy wheelbite. If you put knee pads on you can force your lean to get an idea of when it happens. 💙🛹💙
If I want to carve do my trucks need to be super loose?
Loose trucks help so much 💙🛹💙
Get a surfskate if you really want to know what intense carving feels like. I can't describe it, but its so much more radical that you can do on a skate board because of its mechanics.. (Caution, very very wobbly since it is super super lose)
Surf skate can set a limit to your skateboarding tricks, use a normal board and just loosen the trucks as much as you need. Not exactly a surf skate but I made this video on a regular board which allows me to still skate anything I want and not only carves. 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons Thank you. Great video!
i can barely do 180 kickturns. is it a bad idea to practice this rn?
Practice small carves and pumping as well as kickturns. Wear knee pads and helmet for extra confidence 💙🛹💙

Frontside has always been more comfortable than backside for me. Idk
You’re lucky! Most people it’s the opposite bc they don’t like leaning backwards. 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons I guess its just something about Id rather fall backwards than face first and scorpion.
Learn to use knee pads if you want to punch yourself fast bc you’ll be falling often and sliding helps so much. 💙🛹💙
I may have to take you up on that. I'm part of the "no pads all glory" era. And getting older makes me not to fall as much too. Pads and helmet it is then.
💙😎💙
