Probably the best vid on the topic I've ever watched. Thank you! I'm an old fart, learning to do it and I'm currently at exactly this basic level, having successfully mastered a few correct drop ins, and kick turns like described. Huge boost for me to watch how it's done, seems I'm on the right track then.
+Anders1236 Props on getting your drop ins dude! It only gets more fun from here :) When you're ready to step it up, I would recommend looking into either backside rock n rolls or rock to fakies.
Thanks for the kind words by the way!
I got f I fa kilo ore itoow tog it uwrwy
This was actually sooo soooo soooooooooooo in depth you would not believe!!! why the hell doesn't this have more views?
That little bowl looks awesome
Just tried skating these mini ramps and its like I've never stood on a board before. Bomb instructional guide.
I don’t even have a mini ramp in my town but I’m still watching this because it is the best channel ever
I've skated since middle school and now I'm 26 and decided to start again but no matter what I've always been scared of the drop in. I always stuck with leveled rails and flat ramps so soon im gonna put this video to good use and practice the drop in. I really really wanna start skating the mini ramps so I just need to get over my fear and just do it! Thank you so much for this video!
I started by dropping in on a small ramp and now I'm building up
Have you dropped in yet?
I recently started going to the skatepark this year and these videos are very helpful. Thanks.
Javei You got it homie, glad you're out skating with us!
Are you good now
@@trackskin3419 just about to ask lmao
It’s been 5 years, can you shred now?
Same except im 31 lol
Here's some help on dropping in. I can drop in on flat only, so I don't know how much this will help on vert, but the #1 key to dropping in is to SLAM DOWN. When setting up a drop in, I make sure that my balls of my feet match up with the top part of the tail, just behind the bend where the board hits the tail. NOT on the crease, but a little bit behind it. When putting your front foot on though, what I do is put my foot on the board with zero weight on it, then I take my front foot about an inch/few centimeters off, then immediately SLAM my front foot down on the board, and as I'm doing that, I take all the weight off my back foot, then put some weight back on when all four wheels hit the ground in order to do kick turns. For any beginners, a good way to practice this trick is to find a place where you can put your board half on concrete/smooth ground, and half on grass/soft ground. I then do the drop in onto the concrete side. After I get used to that, I do it the other way around. After that, I hold something while on smooth ground fully, then drop in. And after that, I do the real thing. Now, the funny thing is, I couldn't commit to it for a couple of weeks after I got to the final stage of practice (I did all the practice steps in one day) I set up, then my mind just drifted off, and I didn't focus on what I was doing, and just did the drop in. When doing the drop in, you cant focus on it, because then you get scared and walk away. Instead, try to daydream in a sense, and just let your body take over. If it sounds like I'm tripping, it's because it's 2:30 am, but not focusing on it actually helped me. I hope this advice helps y'all, goodnight.
I learned like 6 things all at once from this one video. Super education
Video #1 of my mini ramp trick tips series.
+Justin Lauria thanks man you have help me out a lot thanks brah
Awesome! Thanks man. I now need to find a mini half pipe or bowl like this near me.
Justin Lauria lmao I'm going to house park tomorrow to learn rock to fakies
Justin Lauria i have a miniramp and I just wanted to learn some basics, vid really helped !!!
Justin Lauria is it the same for goofy stance users?
Bought my skateboard 2weeks ago. Watched a lot of skateboarding tutorials in YT. And your tutorials are da best IMHO.
THAT is a very nice thing to say my friend. Thank you, and I hope you're having a lot of fun!
The BEST beginner video I've ever seen!!!!!
Great video, started skating skating again after twenty five years and found your videos to be the most informative. Much easier to understand the fundamentals when explained with correct physics terms.
My friend never learned how to stomp down when dropping in so he just does a manual all the way down and it actually looks kinda nice
That's impressive but it would cause me so much anxiety! lol
Today was my first time getting the feel for a mini ramp. Wish I wouldve watched this video before trying it =(
Rat Crew Are you able to drop in yet? Once you get past that, it opens up a whole world of fun stuff :)
In case you're curious, the first tricks I would recommend learning:
Rock to Fakie
Fakie Tail Stall
Axle Stall
Justin Lauria Ive practiced dropping in on a smaller incline but still have trouble commiting my weight to my front foot. Ill get a few successful drop ins on the smaller inclne but then i go back to not commiting the weight. Ima keep practicing still i do it consistently. Ive practiced pumping in the mini ramp to get the feel for it. Thanks for the trick suggestions ill definitely try learning those once i build up to actually dropping in on the mini ramp.
Rat Crew That's really good, man. While skateboarding does have its moments where you have to push past your fear and try something your mind won't let you do, you have to know when you're ready (and usually you really do know whether or not you're ready), so props for building up to dropping in the right way.
I wish I'd watched this before going straight for it on a ramp and dislocating my shoulder. 🤣
Oh dang!! Hope you heal up quick my friend! Also, gotta say, love the courage that must've taken 🤘
Just getting back into it after almost 30 years. Your channel is so informative and has helped me incredibly. Thanks for the great content!
I just want to thank you a lot!! Today was my second day at the skate park and my skills increassed a lot thanks to your advices. Practiced my pumping technique and also rotation backside on the ramp. I felt the difference between skating without pumping and with the pump. :) I lovethe sk8 board again
Great video. I love how you break down what you should learn at each stage.
i have watched 5 tutorials on dropping in so far, this was the best. Nicely done.
Thanks Justin! My kids whom are 10 & 6 have both been skating for a few years and really enjoyed your tutorial. Great job man, keep it up!
I think your tutorial videos are some of the best on UA-cam.
really useful, thanks - just started skating at 50, am at the stage of rolling up and back in fakie; next = kickturns. Hardest thing is finding somewhere quiet to practice.
Love your videos man. Make every trick easy to understand how it works! Thanks
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank!
This channel is so motivacional. Tnx
You are awesome. Im 20 and just learning to skate, might go to the skate park before work tomorrow.

I really like these videos they teach the basics which I really need so helpful when I go to the skatepark soon I'll definitely use these tips
Super helpful! Thanks and keep them coming!
Liking this video man. Been skating on and off for about 9 years but never got around to learning anything more than dropping in when it came to park skating. Now I work night shifts 30 seconds away from some decent halfpipes so I'm giving it a shot at long last aha
Looking forward to more videos on pipe skating!
One of the most helpful and informative video!! Thank you !!
Glad it was helpful!

Hey, thank you for posting this. Very helpful!!
Welden Frank No problem man, thanks for saying that!
Great video, 37 and just started skating
Get it homie! 🤙
awesome video. I'm 41 years old and i decided to skate again. Last time i was on a board was 20 years ago, skated competitive street, but living in the city there were no parks. Now i live in the suburbs and i have a park to skate so I'm limited to what i can skate. this is definitely an awesome tutorial..
Hugeeee help thanks a lot this is exactly what I needed!
Great video!! Thanks a lot...

Thanks dude that was really helpful I’m dropping in today
I Don't Know Elisa Good deal!
Thanks dude!!! i'm really nervous :D

I've been to every single park in this video!
Robocock Murphy Really? All 4 of them?! Do you/did you used to live in Austin?
Which one is your favorite?
Justin Lauria I live in Burnet and use to live in Seguin.I would have to say house park is my favorite.Skater girls are HOTTTT.
I am kinda old (27) but just started skating. I went to the park yesterday and was just trying to kick-turn consistently. A younger kid came up to me and asked how long I had been skating. When I told him only a few weeks he was very relived. Thanks for the tips
Orangebike666 lol
great content mate
Love these videos , they are teaching me so much as a beginner , and a lot of the videos are from the park I skate at in ATX 😃👊🏻🤘🏻! Hope I bump into you some day man , you rock .
Thanks John!!
Great video once again! I just recently learned how to drop in but I like watching these videos so hopefully one day I'll get even better at skating!

Great video man
The city just built a new skatepark and i would like to skate there often. riding a carver, it looked quiet different to work out from regular skateboards but this vid explained it all, thanks.
Vera good video,Thanks you
Thanks this helped a lot :D
Thank you so so so so much my mom wants to take me to a skate park...but i was sacred of all the glares and laughs since i am a girl...
Feel yah.
Garry C / ISO 25 thank you so much
Girl? I won't go to the busiest skatepark in my area cos I'm scared of being a beginner...
I'm a girl and I've been skating for 6 months now. No one ever laughed at me, and everybody help me when I need it.. no matter if you're a boy or a girl, real skaters will always help you and give you advice
well then the real skaters around here are no where to be found
Best Teacher Ever Man. Yu Really Helped Me A lot In The Opposite Kick turn Thanx Alot!
Abraham Galvan You're too kind, sir. Thank you!
No Problem!

marsellus wallace Coming from Marsellus Wallace, that really means a lot! Send my regards to Mrs. Wallace.

Really helpful, thanks a lot, my park only has a 6ft ramp and I freak out all the time, determined to do it someday 😅
This is a vid I have in a playlist to go back to. Tomorrow I’m gonna try dropping in !!!! Excited and SCAREEED 😂
Wear pads and a helmet, but you got this! Just get the first attempt out of the way as soon as possible (don't overthink it!)
NSI Skateboarding [Justin Lauria] thanks!!! What a day! I DROPPED IN THOOO for a streak of smooth sailing and trying out the rock to fakie then I hesitated later and hurt this wrist that’s OK I’ll be trying again !! Your videos are a huge help ! I’m a 21 year old woman so I don’t exactly have a ton of friends who like to skate and learn from 😂 (Yet!) so this is great 👍
@@godsballroom5298 Wow! Huge congratulations 🎉 The wrist thing is crappy, but so glad to hear it's not stopping you!
MAAAAD vid man!
By far, best "How To" series on UA-cam. You seem to be based out of Austin. What's the park you are at in the very first clip? I'm visiting Austin in September and want hit up some spots.
@4:20 just learned these exit out thingies today!! progress is good !!
I call it the 'Fly Out'! 🛹🚀
Great video. I have to put my front foot over the front bolts on an angle, for better balance. Also, I can't think of leaving forward a lot, I felt forward and bruised my ribs.
thx was a big help ! :D
Thanks for the good explanation.
***** Any time sir!
That's my park. Woot!!
Thanks dude this helped so much plus 1 sub😝
Good tips. 2nd time at a skatepark today, and was able to figure out dropping in on a mini quarter and (some) consistent pivots on the upslope
Nice bro!
Thank you!🙂
Thank u!!!
Thank you still practicing
Justin super great job now I don't have to do my own how to video,u cover it all dawg,I say covet it all because nice job for a brand new person there s a couple of things that I could add, really just one people don't realize new skaters you don't lean back to lift the front of your board you stay center and lift you front leg and push down on your tail, but dude the flat land tip is the bomb I was ten or eleven when I first went to a skate park and I did so much flat land stuff till a pro happen to come to skate the half pipe and I was lucky enuf to gets some schooling. The other thing I use to focus on was pushing on my back foot when I dropped just so my brain new the back of my board wasn't gonna move till I was on it and away, but great video I love how you did a great job of showing ramp size on of the other balance tricks I used to do is flat ground grab the front of my board tail stand and one eighty kick turn on my tail only all wheels in the air it a good one your on the ground and it gets you comfy moving on your board like you will later when get to airs or kick turns and I practice a tail stall, great work that should get them going from zero to having fun safely...see ya.
Awesome! Very good tips, especially the bit about not leaning back to pick up your front wheels!
Thanks
