What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go awry. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.

Whenever John says, "We are rolling one last time." We know it is going to be a good one.

True story: 50 yrs ago my father saw a woman steal some meat from a small local grocer. He discreetly told the store owner who said this, “ I know, but her husband died, she’s proud and she’s struggling to feed her family, she only takes what she needs”. My father and I both admired him for this. A kind hearted man, this world could use more of him!
Kevin Richards yes there are programs now, back in the 60s not so much. People earned a livable wage and poor people were helped by charities, some people were too proud to ask or accept help
Kevin Richards maybe she knew him and that if she were caught he would most likely deal with it without involving the police. Things were very different back then.
Your daddy’s a snitch.

First rule of being a cashier. Shut the register closed before you leave so it locks and thieves won't get in to easily.

She was not the only one who didn't snitch. Even the police officer and the last woman gave her money and never snitched.
@@ekales_ I hate the word snitch

The retired officer is the definition to “protect and serve” great job handling the situation serving his community 👍🏽
I honestly thought he was gonna be the one to snitch but he didn't. He let her know who he was, demanded she put the money back, gave her the money out of his pocket, and didn't say a word to the cashier. I have a lot of respect for that man
@@Fan-zy5me I agree, he was soft spoken and kind and didn’t want her stealing, obviously, but he also helped and then just stepped back. He could have had her arrested right there but he didn’t cuz he knew she had to have been really desperate to be blatantly stealing to take care of her baby

Yep and shows he understands that while what she did was illlegal, well she had a baby so did pay for it himself.
I wish they changed it to a Male trying to buy diapers for his baby
yeah me too, i thought that was what they were going to do
When John said that they were going to switch things up, I assumed they would bring a black actress (they've done that in other episodes).
I think people wouldn't have helped him.

@@dongf5628Tbf to her, she probably knew that the cashier would get in trouble if something like that happened again so her thought process was I need to tell her not to leave the register open when she leaves so this won't happen again and she won't possibly lose her job bc of it, bc that's what I was thinking when she said that. Also, I know your comment is 7 months old lol my bad lol I just really liked what her and the retired police officer did

Honestly this is why whenever I work cash register I always make sure my drawer is closed and I have the spare key in my hand when I have my back turned. Workers can get in trouble if money is missing from their drawer getting accused of stealing. If they want to steal the extra cash I have sitting there that customers told me to keep when they didn’t want their change, then it’s not a big deal since it doesn’t count, but don’t steal from the drawer.
If you are short of cash, I will personally try to help you, but don’t put my job at risk to do so.

For anyone that is going through it or knows someone who is with a child right now .Cloth diapers are a great supplement to disposable diapers especially now as the news clip said as a lot of people are struggling during corona , so instead of spending$50-100 for diaper to go in the bin it's used for other things such as formula or grocery etc

I thought cloth would save money but by the time I calculated my water bill, extra detergent and the insane cost of the laundromat it didn't save anything.
@@ckee8437 Years ago, when ours were in diapers, we used cloth diapers except for night time or when we were out. I was bent over, scrubbing them every day in the bathtub. It was brutal. So we went to Rent-a-Center. We rented an apt size washer that hooked up to the kitchen faucet to wash them after soaking them in bleach water, and hung them out to dry. Just gotta do what you gotta do. Times are hard, but we are Americans, and we're made of sterner stuff. 💯

I stole formula when I was 19 and had a baby. I wasn’t proud. I couldn’t afford it. I was a single mum and WIC paid for about 8 cans a week when she went through 10. I do feel bad about it and I would never do it now being able to pay for things, but yeah, sometimes it’s not about being a thief and just the absolute desperate need to feed your baby.
Edit- 8 cans a month
when life gives you harsh times, we don't think properly or just don't know what to do. I'm only 14 but I know that when someone struggles, the first solution that comes to their head tends to be what they go with, no matter how right or wrong it is. I know people who have struggles with all this sort of stuff and I can't fully understand myself as I have not personally been through it, but the least we can all do is *try* to understand to a certain extent, imagine what it would be like if it were yourself in that situation, etc so just remember that even if you aren't proud of what you have done, so many people have been there too because that's just how life works. it can be cruel sometimes

I hate when you guys over exaggerate these scenarios. There is no way in the history of this earth that someone will steal from a register in front of everyone in line without actually robbing the place.
Sometimes people will just watch in broad daylight and say nothing out of concern of not getting involved in any fights

I worked at walgreens for years, and remember this one woman who would come in a steal baby formula a lot. I knew what she was doing and as high schooler I couldn't afford to give her money to help her not need to steal, but I never reported her or said a word when she would come in. No one steals baby formula unless they can't feed their child.
i would say nothing too. i dont have money to help and i really don't care if someone steals from a huge corporation like walmart
@@MegaVega2007 right? If big companies gave back more, there would be far less people who are in a situation where they need to steal. And ultimately I don't condone stealing, it is illegal and for people in desperate need, getting caught stealing can put them in a worse situation than the original cause for the stealing. But still, something like this is different. When I worked at Sephora and saw someone stealing, I'd absolutely call security - no one "needs" makeup. That said, if I saw a homeless person come in and steal chapstick or sunscreen. I'd turn a blind eye. I live in Denver and with our dryness and sun, that's just a human need. People who live on the streets need spf almost more than the rest of us, and I know they aren't likely to have health coverage or the ability to go to a dermatologist. I'm an esthetician and spf is healthcare not just skincare.
This one really gets me because I’m proud of each person who couldn’t look away from a theft being done, and then gave the lady money from their own pocket!! Good still does prevail in the world!!!

The first lady is pure gold, helping the mom and the cashier ❤😊
One time I ended up short in a check out line by 5$ and I started asking the checkout lady to put some stuff away cuz I didn’t have enough. The lady behind me was very kind and said “no no no I got it don’t worry” and she payed it for me. It was so kind. One time during Christmas me and my boyfriend were buying presents for our baby’s first Christmas and his 8 year old little brother because we unexpectedly started taking care of him that year. We were only 19. We scanned everything and had enough, but one thing we chose for our son was 25$ more than we thought and it would have brought us way over our budget. When we scanned it I told the worker at self check out that i wanted to remove it and put it back. I told my boyfriend I would go grab the cheaper item that most likely was the 20$. Then the worker came back and gave it back to me. I was so confused and she said “don’t worry about it, a customer just bought it for y’all.” I literally almost cried and started looking around to say thanku to the person but no one was looking at me. I asked the worker and she told me “they want to stay annonymous.” I’m pretty sure it was the worker, so I thanked her profusely. I will never forget that.
