I get the confusion, there are lots of people who have a hard time really "getting" it. Obviously I can't say for sure if this is what Kevin was meaning, but I would think it's because there isn't really a gender-neutral alternative to bride or groom. The outfit/look Kevin was wanting matches up with what we'd typically expect to see someone who identifies as a woman wear, so bride fits better than groom, at least in terms of shopping for wedding outfits.
Why is makeup a female thing? There are tons of times and places throughout history and in modern day where everyone uses makeup. Even Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump wear makeup when they're on camera, and they're not the sort of people who have interest in being nonconformists. In all honesty, it would have made more sense to have something specifically made for this purpose. It is somewhat disingenuous to approach a BRIDAL shop to purchase a woman's gown for a male body with a genderless intention. Then there's the worry aspect that you won't be catered for because you are not in the correct category. There is a lot of confusion in there. But this is what happens when we don't give the correct support. That being said, the team worked hard to help.
