WWYD is my absolute favorite show. I love how John shines light on situations that happen in real life. He stands for equality and is an absolute angel 😁
Happened to me and then I joined on a lawsuit against the large chain restaurant that did it to me and numerous other people over the age of 40. We won!
I work as a waitress and barmaid in a large chain restaurant in England. I am 22. Most of the people who i work with front of house are all under 30. But our 2 most efficient and popular waiting staff are older. Their dedication to the job and their ability to cope even when it is really busy and their efficiency and work ethic are second to none. The put us young ones to shame. Experience has value.
As a person with advanced degrees and also multiple barriers to employment, I can say I would prefer hiring managers and interview panel members to be direct. The norm is: at the start of the interview when the interviewer(s) first see the candidate, they think to themselves “we can’t hire this person. He/she is ” They carry out the interview, tell you that you are very good, and then never respond to your attempts to contact. The takeaway message from this segment of WWYD is: it’s not ok to discriminate out loud. And indeed 99.9% of people don’t discriminate out loud. What they do discretely, that’s another story. If this scenario were in real life, the manager would take the applicant’s papers and then throw it out in the back. Nobody would notice anything out of the ordinary. It’s life.
Organizations have more sophisticated ways to know how old you are. I think that in this scenario, you might want to show up in person to fill an application. But, generally speaking, these days people do it online and most companies use AI to scan the applications to figure out how old you are without directly asking you. For instance, "What level of schooling you have," "When did you graduate from college", etc.. So, people are denied the job by a computer before anyone sees your resume or application. I was at my local McDonald's one time when a young disabled kid stopped by to get a job application and was told by an assistant manager that they did not have any openings and therefore she could not give him a job application. I immediately jumped in and said to her, "You know that what you are doing is illegal in California, don't you? You MUST give him an application and allow him to fill it out if you don't want to be sued, according to the ADA you cannot discriminate against people with disabilities." She went to the office and gave the kid the job application. He didn't get the job I suppose bc I've never seen him again there, but you cannot be a bystander. You have to let people know that what they're doing is wrong. You also have to let people know when they are going a great job.
This probably happens all the time. It's sad everyone deserves the same opportunities. These days everyone needs a job age shouldn't matter. In my opinion as long as they strong enough to do the job and they have the skills they should be hired.
At my last job, they made up all kinds of excuses to get rid of the older workers. Class action ensued, company lost big time & young bosses lost THEIR jobs.
Even if it's illegal to discriminate a job candidate based on age, it happens all the time whether consciously or subconsciously. I mean, if you're applying to become a promo model at a trade show to represent a company, they have every right to discriminate applicants based on age and other superficial factors because looks are a big aspect of the role.
LOL! This happened to me and I was only joking about wanting the job while out with friends. So, 6 months later I bought the place, closed it, and reopened it 3 months later, as a restaurant, with a well experienced staff. 😁👍🏻
The beautiful woman in the lavender blouse - I just adore her. Her voice was so soothing to me. And the gorgeous woman who stood up for the older guy was great as well. She had me cracking up! 🤣 Her facial expressions were on point. You could tell she was frustrated with the actor. Lol.
Sutton is a whole queen "how's your balance" girl she knew exactly what to have her say and her genuine joy at the responses of customers who stood up for Diana is awesome. PS If Sutton Foster ever told me she was proud of me I would cry for a month.
Sarah: What do you know about being treated badly? Man: What do I know about being treated badly? I'm a Black man in America. I know a lot about being treated badly. I felt that! As a Black man myself, a gay Black man. No one should ever be treated badly.
On a real note, I worked in a kitchen for my first job then was a server when I was 19 and I can safely say most of the older staff did a much better job with 9/10 aspects of the job. Now I know I can’t speak for everyone or the other restaurants out there but all I’ll say was during the interview all they valued was experience and references, and I honestly feel like their applications were taken much more seriously than someone in their twenties or thirties would, since they actually understand work ethic and how to get a job done. P.S. 95% of any workplace drama involved the middle aged/younger workers. Out of my favorite 5 coworkers, 2 of them were senior citizens.
They should do a segment about dyscalculia. It's like dyslexia, but instead of having issues with reading and writing, we have issues with arithmetic and numerical information. I would love to be served by that woman she seems like she got stories to tell and good advice to give
Sutton Foster seems very genuine, humble, and down to earth!
She is. Speaking to her is like a breath of fresh air. She's incredibly kind.
Reminds me of the “Denied job because of gender” episode.
Oh damn,i didnt watch that one yet, cool though
Yessir
Part of their whole “Denied Job Because of [Insert X]-ism” lineup
Have they done a “denied job because of sexuality?”
Bass Armstrong: I remember those.
I swear wwyd has some good actors and actresses these days.
Still miss Tracy tho lol
😂😂😂😂 I died when she said “he might not even hear me cuz he’s so OLD “😂😂 oh I LOVED her 😂❤❤
We need this show in the UK, coz I feel like barely anybody would stick up for anyone 😕
"I'm a black man in America. I know a lot about being treated badly"
Sad as shit
Der Kaiser why yawn
We get it you hate white people
Der Kaiser maybe he’s been actually treated badly in the past tho
Der Kaiser it is tho a lot of countries r lol
WWYD is my absolute favorite show. I love how John shines light on situations that happen in real life. He stands for equality and is an absolute angel 😁
Legend has it that when you do wrong, the quinones fairy comes for your soul.
I screamed when she said “maybe we could speak up”.😂😂😂
Right, lol 😂
The black customers were dope af!!! ❤ they stand up for others in the face of adversity🙏
Only the black ones huh? XD
I bet in real life they won't
Black people are defending for victims 90% time on wwyd. It's just beautiful 😍
xoxo xo I watch a lot wits closer to a 50/50 split between black and white
I think 90% is a huge overstatement.
Have you seen the "stolen bike"episode? Every single one of them were calling the cops on the Black dude
@@FalaqX It is so sad.
@@Fourtune1 Yeah it's just human decency to do so.
OMG I was not ready for Sutton! My musical theatre heart can’t take it 😁
Alright, time to grab some popcorn and snacks in 10 minutes
Yurr
Lol
I love all the people who stick up for the applicants. It’s wonderful to see people doing good. Thank you for this channel, I just subscribed! ❤️
I gotta tell you, I really appreciate how this show switches things up with race and gender to show different reactions! Kudos!
I once found 20$ at Walmart on the floor but I was scared to pick it up cause I thought John quinones would pop up
shut up your litterally everywhere
Did you? Lmao
Always pick it up and wait at that area for 5min at least. See if the owner turned up
ZyphiXMusic_Official you’re* literally*
@@PVTHOS *you're literally* *
SUTTON FOSTER?!?!
I love her!!!!!!! My little theatre heart is so happy!!!!!!
I was shocked!!! I love her
Forget getting to meet John Quinones. I would freak out if I was one of those people.
my asian aunt from New Hampshire is in her 50s and she's a really good bartender. Told me she gets hundreds of dollars worth of tips each day.
The actress playing the "older" applicant IS SO GOOD
Last man said has been there and yet he put a smile on his face ! Wow much respect to this guy .
You’ve got the love black women 😭😭😭 put her in check real quick
Can't you just see her as a woman?
@@dherman0001 Can't you just see her as a human?
The actress portraying the bartender looks so familiar.
i know right!! thats what i've been thinking!
She was in the one where she was harassed by her boss
Kaley Cuoco from the Big Bang Theory.
Ohh 👀
@@sadbitch4eva Yes , I'm aware. That's who she resembles.
9:48 "Ooo that's a good idea." Lmao Sutton you perfect beautiful angel.
I hope this is the actual episode not just a premiere for it 😭
Your wish came true
Check the length of the vid, you can tell just by that
A premiere is the actual episode.
did you mean a preview?
As a person with advanced degrees and also multiple barriers to employment, I can say I would prefer hiring managers and interview panel members to be direct.
The norm is: at the start of the interview when the interviewer(s) first see the candidate, they think to themselves “we can’t hire this person. He/she is ”
They carry out the interview, tell you that you are very good, and then never respond to your attempts to contact.
It’s life.
True.
"I think you're very tone deaf!" Damn right, he knows what's up! XD
I love that the actress was in this episode. Ageism is real and Younger is a great show.

"What do you know about being treated badly?"
It was at that moment she knew... *She fucked up*
My favorite bartender is an old man. His.stories are priceless. Mickey has seen it all and gives me invaluable advice. Hes the dad i never had
Am I the only one who clicked on this thinking it would be about someone underage?
I did.
😅 I thought the same
You and me both girl. 😊 Sutton is so incredibly kind. She's my favourite human. ❤
I cracked up when she said “well, I mean we can just speak up”.😂😂😂 loved it.
Notice how only a few people defended the man. And most people helped the lady why?
Perhaps the men prefer to be served by an old female waitress rather than an old male waiter.
the power behind the “or its too black” and the DIRECT look into the camera
Breaking the 4th wall 😂
Sarah: What do you know about being treated badly?
Man: What do I know about being treated badly? I'm a Black man in America. I know a lot about being treated badly.
I felt that! As a Black man myself, a gay Black man. No one should ever be treated badly.

Reginald McKinney you’re welcome! Anytime!❤️
Ageism is also big towards younger adults too, mostly towards men, I was constantly rejected because I was young
When John says, "We're rolling one last time," you already know somethings about to go down...
Yeah exactly
They should do a segment about dyscalculia. It's like dyslexia, but instead of having issues with reading and writing, we have issues with arithmetic and numerical information. Working cashier jobs, I've been targeted from many people for taking too long at the cash register, and for needing a calculator. Usually when I tell them its a disorder they back off, but it would be interesting to see if someone would come to our defense..
To be fair, we all have our limits. I'd hope you were never a pilot or a surgeon.
@@jazzycat8917 I said blind. Nor would a sane person want an autistic pilot. We all have our limits. Only a narcissist would disagree. If you can do a job then have at it. But you can't fly a plane blind so let's not be ridiculous.
When live chat gets quiet because everyone is so focused on the episode you be like- 😂😂😂😂😂😂 👁👄👁
The live chat defiantly wasn’t quiet lol. So many people were spamming trump/Biden 2020 and blm and acab

I knew they were gonna bring up Sutton Fosters Younger. That show is literally so good and so funny I wanna scream.
aaaaaah love her so much
Diana is a really incredible actress, her facial expressions and tone of voice were so convincing and heartbreaking! Really excellent acting
The thing is, AGE DISCRIMINATION is a thing to a lot of countries especially in the Philippines. You'll even see that there are age restrictions on every job 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It's the same thing in Mexico.
Has anybody else noticed soon as John comes out everybody says “I knew it” like if they no there on the show why get so angry hahaha 😂
Yeah so true 🤣.
TBF, it's a natural human reaction -- almost no one wants to admit that they've been "suckered", esp knowing millions of people (very possibly including some they know) will see the episode, so the default response is to just deny it.
Sharky165 so true lol
Him saying “We are rolling one last time” will never get old 。 ^‿^ 。
This one is great and so true! Should not be judged on anything other than qualification!
This is always my struggle, I'm 50 years old and I don't look my age at all. Every time I apply for a job for a better income, I get invited for an interview. Everything goes well during an interview until the employer asks me about my age, and I get declined immediately! 😭😭
roses are red, violets are blue
I’m john Quiñones.. and this is what would you do
I reacted, and so did you
So maybe we should do an episode that’s new

Love the wise words of the last guy 💗
I meannnnnnnnnnn there's a difference between being 50 and applying for a job and being discriminated against and being 78 and running for the highest office in the country ya know.
Well also running for office and saying stuff like "poor kids are as smart as white kids" or claiming to be native American to become a Harvard law prof, or locking up poor people for minor drug offenses and calling Juicy Smollett a great human being.....
