I adore this woman! She was in the audience of a Jane Siberry concert in London years ago, and when I said "Hey Eddi..." after the show, she put her arm around me and said "Hello Darlin!"..... Having a chat with Eddi, with her arm on my shoulder, felt like the most natural and wonderful thing in the world....
How the entire audience aren't on their feet whooping and cheering after this performance is beyond me. Eddi's voice and vocal talents are beyond compare. The bending of notes she does here is so difficult. Her range is astounding. An amazing artist.
god I love Eddi Reader, she is still one of the best performers I have seen, sent shivers down my spine.I remember seeing her years ago at WOMAD and it is still a performance I remember among so many other great musicians.I remember her.Great songs, great voice with great messages and feelings evoked.
She is so wonderfully expressive, clearly someone who finds that it's not just singing this song but a total experience she is living this. Really beautiful, performance X
My mother was a fantastic singer. She always said to me "If you can't feel it, don't sing it". I remember as a kid listening to Mam singing "Teddy O'Neill" and I'd always cry. One time when she finished singing it I sobbed "Ah mammy, why didn't you marry him?" Every song she sang, she made it her own. Eddi does the same thing.
I, on the other hand, did not discover her until 2010, which I thought at the time a terrible thing. But I have heard her sing for more than a decade now and will claim Eddi as one of the best voices I have known -- and I have known many over the years. Eddi can outdo most anyone. Would that she would have been much, much bigger in America!
I remember her from Fairground Attraction back in the 80's. Her voice is absolutely sublime. I hope since hearing this you have discovered much more of her music and that it has brought you as much joy as it brought me.
I love Declan O’Rourke’s version of his beautiful song, and I never thought I would find a version which would match his. Now I have. So beautiful. Am looking forward to seeing Eddi with the Alan Kelly gang in Dublin in September.
Such amazing beauty!! Eddi, please come to Massachusetts. Your voice is so amazing and, even more importantly, you give off an aura of such kindness. Thank God for your soul!! May He continue to bless you!!
i just love eddi reader i seen her in kilkenny I think it was last year I can't wait to see her again she is a beautiful lady and very funny the voice of an angel
Wow, I heard this song for the first time tonight at the end of Monroe. Beautiful, beautiful song, sung with such feeling by Eddi. Who could fail to shed the odd tear or two whilst listening to this...certainly not I.
Love can make you ask some funny questions now and then But just remember the alternatives For I remember when I was lonely, And unhappy and my lips were cold as ice But you kissed me and good Heavens, Now I'm here in paradise So if I'm ever not kissing you or looking in your eyes I won't be blind and I won't cry I'll look up high and gladly sigh And thank the guy (CHORUS)
Galileo fell in love As a Galilean boy And he wondered what in Heaven, Who invented such a joy? But the question got the better of his scientific mind And to his blind and dying days he looked up high and often sighed And sometimes cried: Who puts the rainbow in the sky? Who lights the stars at night? Who dreamt up someone so divine, Someone like you and made them mine?
I would listen forever.
Stunning
My God you are so good you make me cry never stop singing

Find her singing from the 1980s with the band FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION
I love Declan O’Rourke’s version of his beautiful song, and I never thought I would find a version which would match his. Now I have. So beautiful. Am looking forward to seeing Eddi with the Alan Kelly gang in Dublin in September.
What a gorgeous version of this gorgeous song. She does Declan O'Rourke justice!

Hep harika….❤❤❤ve özel….
This song fills me with joy
I first saw her with a band called Fairground attraction in europe 1984. To this day she is the best female singer I ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!
She is. Totally underrated. Her range is incredible. It's the only worthy cover.
First to say ...that was very cool ...old school songwriting by declan !
My mum loves this song we always listen to this together !! Will always be one of our memories :))

Such amazing beauty!! Eddi, please come to Massachusetts. Your voice is so amazing and, even more importantly, you give off an aura of such kindness. Thank God for your soul!! May He continue to bless you!!

Good god in heaven -- Eddi Reader's drippy honey voice is an eargasm every time!
I love that song!
Just wonderful.
She has rejoined fairground attraction, new album out soon

voice of an angel love her and hahahaha for the first part
I love Eddi Reader and this is my favorite love song of all time but at times she over sang it
Galileo fell in love As a Galilean boy And he wondered what in Heaven, Who invented such a joy? Sublime
And what about Allen Kelly on according
Galánta. Micheál Martin, Tír Eoghan abú
I love Eddi Reader but Gallileo can only be sung by two people , firstly Declen O'Rourke himself or by Josh Groban
Only a woman could turn such a simple beautiful song into an over operatic abomination. Thanks my Ears just dropped off.
It is sincerely to be hoped for that your ears wont be the only pair of organs to drop off your undeserving body!!!
Listen to Declan's version, this thing sings it badly
No need to be so nasty.
Declan doesn't think so
Nasty, nasty, don't write what you wouldn't say . Beautiful version.
Beautiful 💜💜
