  • They say you should never meet your heroes but, they didn’t say anything about finding out that you're practically related to one of them … Anyone who was a fan of 80’s new wave/ alt/pop that was listening to Ultravox, Billy Bragg, or Kirsty MacColl probably also listened to Scottish singer/songwriter Eddi Reader. She burst onto the scene with her band Fairground Attraction and the worldwide #1 hit “Perfect”. Then she went on to a solo career that has seen her remain a regular on the UK charts. She has worked with Gang Of Four, Eurythmics, Alison Moyet, Hothouse Flowers, and The Waterboys. Fairground Attraction was actually the first compact disc I ever purchased when I finally admitted vinyl was being replaced and anyone who has been a TRP member long enough knows that I count her as one of my absolute favorite artists of all time … All of this only to find out in the last year that my cousin in Scotland married his beautiful bride Francis many years ago and unbeknownst to me her maiden name is …. Reader 😂 and she happens to have a cousin who sings a bit … so my Birthday present this year was getting a chance to sit down and talk to one of my musical heroes … and practically family, just sayin … the great Eddi Reader 🎶 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That's the best idea, interviewing Eddi & indeed any interviewee at home - - makes everything natural.

Met her years ago at a Jane Siberry gig in Soho. She was an absolute sweetheart - threw her arm around my shoulder, and called me 'hen'! Got my tickets for Fairground Attraction date in London - can't wait!

I just booked my ticket to watch them in London in October! You seldom hear singing that touches the soul like Eddi's 🫶

She is good friends with my cousin. They just met up at the coronation. Small world--when I saw her post this morning with a picture of Eddi, I remembered your interview.
