Hey Tyler! I think you might enjoy the platformer Will You Snail? coming out on the 9th. It's not your normal puzzle/rougelite game, but I think you'd have fun even just on your own. Love your stuff!
Concerning mines: There is an option in settings to toggle automatic deployment of the various construct types. That said, for your build in this video, I think auto-deploy was the way to go.
The reversed knockback from Polar Inversion is particularly great with a weapon like Thermal Lance, because instead of slightly pushing enemies away like it normally does, it pulls them into the lance instead- much harder for them to escape. Especially good if you're going for an Architect + Thermal Lance + Loaded Mines build. You deploy the mines, and then they make a giant rotating star of Thermal Lances that sucks enemies in with each pass of the lance. :>
I love doing this with the pulse weapon - loaded mines with pulse and polar inversion create multiple, massive, somewhat damaging pulses that drag enemies in where they get hit by the overlapping, even more damaging "inner" pulse. I've gotten 1.8 million points with a pulse mine build, definitely could've gone further if I played better and optimized the build more. It basically one shots everything in half the screen at a time, and with fast construct build rate you can crank out mines every few seconds
That thing about projectiles moving with you happens with almost all projectiles, including the Railgun (which as projectile velocity can increase the Railgun's damage), it's just more noticeable with a slower-moving one like the Grenade
Hey Tyler, if you start with the “Research” body and use Rerolls to Banish niche/unusable mods you can then later on switch to another body for mega powerful builds. I recommend doing the Leviathan body with it ; )
If you find yourself struggling to regain your shield in the late game, Tempest Break is really helpful. It's a Super Mod that requires Deadly Wake (the burning thrust trail) and Flash Shielding (fast but weak shields), and it makes it so that your shield cooldown can't be interrupted by damage. The downsides are pretty insignifiant imo, and it'll really help with survivability when there's lots of stuff happening on the screen.
I really like the temporal shield. It makes it way easier to dodge projectiles, and some projectiles fizzle out before they even get through the effect radius with enough upgrades.
Incase you're interested there is a mod that only shows up if you have 4 or more unspent levels. It's great for end game when you dont want to or have run out of mods to grab. You get 5% global damage for each unspent point. So you can either get 4 points and reroll or get 5 points, use one to refresh the pool, and get the special mod. It basically always shows up if the requirement is met
@@TheArQu but you do have to compare those mods to see if they would just be worse than getting another 5% global damage. Sometimes the negatives if recursive mods just aren'tvworth it anymore and sometime more damage is just a better option. If you don't play with recursive mods then this is even better
Engineer/architect body with grenades with fragments, rate of fire and projectile count buffs (including barrage), all the homing mods, singular strike, antimatter rounds, mine specialist, loaded mines + charged mines (minefield isn't too bad for engineer, but with the body buff, overseer, and mine specialist, you already have plenty of mines; never take this for architect), apex constructs, and overseer makes for a massive bomb that, once fully charged, explodes into several still large grenades, which then explode into many smaller grenades. It will nuke the screen over and over again. However, you shouldn't have auto deploying mines (for any build).
Fan fact: you can skip initial selection of weapon, shield and hull. It is bad idea most of the time, but is still interesting for some builds, like only Ataraxia
skip weapon and shield and take hullbreaker for better ramming capabilities because the optimal way to ram is with the super regen upgrade of regenerative shield
Now that you’ve unlocked everything, definitely try vortex next. While it may do damage over time, if you get a tanky build it could do a ton of damage
Yeah the builds I've done the best with and had the most fun with have all been vortex builds so far. It is extremely good in the early game because you can just hold it in front of you and ram enemies with it, then release it from time to time to stop the vortex from killing you. Eventually the vortex can just get huge and you can devour enemies with it. For me, it helped to go with the rapid reconstruction with tons of regen to combat the self-damage.
@@newtonthenewt1400 Never hold the vortex on you when facing elite/champion serpents. They'll still deal collision damage to you before their segments die, and since you're pulling them in, it can kill you extremely quickly.
I got into this game because of your videos on it, and I just broke 1m a week or two ago with a ramming build. Still have no idea how I managed it, considering it’s, like, triple my next highest score, but it was really neat.
You're right that the Reflect shield is good, but I wouldn't say there's really a "best" shield. I've used the Siphon shield as my main source of damage in one run and it wound up being one of my best runs.
”Concentrated blast is obviously good" Any attack does damage proportional to the number of targets it hits explosions hit a number of target proportional to area area of a circle is Pi*Radius ^2 0.7 (the new radius) ^2 = 0.49 meaning your area is reduced by 51% while damage is only increased by 30% leaving non grenade blast weapons with a net 36% reduction in total damage dealt With grenades it's worse. Grenades deal secondary explosions based on it's area, so it's not only doing 36% less damage with it's initial hit it's also producing 51% fewer secondary explosions that each deal 36% less damage each leading to a 70% reduction in secondary damage.
There's a couple of factors missing here. Firstly, we don't know the constant of proportionality on targets/area. If it's around 1, the math checks out. If it's 0.1, then you'd need a lot more area loss to counterbalance the gain on damage. Secondly, a large focus of setting up your weaponry is the ability to do large quantities of damage to a single, bulky target. Many of the weaker enemies will pop to nearly anything, so you're much more worried about champions/bosses and making sure they go down. Notably, unless you're bad at aiming, said boss enemies will *always* be hit by your weapon, no matter what area it has since they're the target you're focusing down. So it's 51% less area and [enemies/area]*51% fewer targets, but 30% more damage on the target you're primarily worried about. As for grenades, once again it's hard to say what the scaling is like, especially since the math will largely be affected by thresholds. Secondary explosions are an integer value, scaling down area by 30% can't reduce secondary explosions by 30% if you're starting with, say, 5. Either you get 4 or 3, and what you get will significantly impact the math (not to mention complicating factors like the possibility for a smaller area to increase the number of secondary explosions that hit a given enemy, etc. etc.)
That math only checks out if the number-of-enemies-hit to explosion-area relationship is linear, but it's easy to verify that that isn't the case. For example, an explosion covering a quarter of the screen is obviously better than one covering an eighth. However, it's also clearly wrong to suggest that a 2-pixel explosion will hit, on average, twice as many enemies as a 1-pixel explosion, or that an explosion twice the size of the screen will hit any fewer enemies than one that's 4 screens big. The ratios are the same, but the effects vary. The ships have movement patterns and a set range of sizes, and you and your explosions are not randomly placed. A more useful analysis would have to consider common on-screen distributions of enemies in response to the player's movement tendencies in a given run, then use the distances between the enemies in those distributions to figure out the average damage of optimally-placed (or a close-ish approximation if the player isn't accurate) explosions of various sizes.
Grenade cluster count is only affected by projectile count (more grenades = less clusters each), and projectile size (bigger grenades = more clusters). Blast radius only changes the size of the area within which these clusters occur, and the size of the explosions themselves. In effect, none of your damage is decreased, it's just in a slightly smaller area, though the scatter of the clusters and fragment grenades still covers and overlaps a lot of area.
It's needed for anti-matter super mod, which fit his build. You have to consider mod trees and particular builds. In another build with omnishield, you don't want self-damage on the hull so you would avoid concentrated blast.
ah. one of the best parts of my day honestly, im happy that you always upload at the same time each day, makes it really easy to set a timer for when your amazing videos come out!

I still think shockwave is one of the best shields in the game and you should try it sometime. When you chose reflect there is a choice you make and I want you to ask yourself a question. Would I rather have reflected projectiles that don’t help to much and hurt your shield in the process or easier dodging to help not take damage as often. I think the choice is obvious but it’s fine to choose different shields if you think they suit your play style. Also the default shield is not to be underestimated. It’s just really good cause you can get the next upgrade earlier. I just genuinely think you can get that 1,000,000 score run if you have a better shield. Good luck! Edit: I just watched the video to the end and you actually made the 1,000,000 score run. Congratulations! Hope to see more from you and maybe you can reach 2,000,000!
I can't wait for the Leviathan run- it's by far my favourite way to play this game, and your reaction to it should be great. I wonder how you'll approach it!
At the start of the game there is an option to not pick anything (By pressing escape during the selection) , for example keep base shields, gun and hull. Not sure what you'd do with this information other than pick base shields. Would be fun seeing a build made around just the base craft, haha.
Next time try this with Warp shield and the Battery hull! Battery is extremely strong with grenade and Singular Strike, make sure to get a fun wild mod called Phantom Strike for extra big explosions :D
I have a build suggestion, though there's no doubt a far better way to do something like this. Weapon: Dart Body: Viper or Firefly? Shield: Halo or Amp? Upgrades to go for: Barrage Attack speed buffs Projectile count buffs Homing Burn buffs Siege weaponry and antimatter rounds optional. If you take these, go for self damage resistance first. Defensive things are also quite good with this, and most other upgrades just add to it once you have it built, but whatever you do, don't take singular strike.
Barrage isn't as useful for darts as just tons of bursts. They deal 1% more damage for each dart already lodged in their target, so getting them all to land in a single burst will ensure that none of them expire before the whole burst hits, this ensuring virtually all get buffed. I've used it with 9 bursts of 9 projectiles, and it just shreds targets when they all hit the same one at around the same time.
@@bengoodwin2141 If you take all 3 homing mods (homing strike optional, as it doesn't affect the main projectiles), as well as focused fire, it can all converge when firing halfway across the screen. The Assault body also helps here. Of course, most enemies for which you'd need many hits tend to be larger targets anyway, and firing closer to the target should help to slightly increase the time the darts are in the targets (I think). Of course, in practice, the ones near the edge may still try homing in on other targets, but the burst still has a noticeable effect on the alpha damage of the weapon. I specifically recall it taking out at least a third of Scion's health in a single burst on wave 60, despite some hitting the orbs.
I remember playing mass effect Andromeda with a pistol shotgun that split fired grenades for every pellet and was charge-fired, it would sometimes crash my ps4
HAd this game since it came out. the granade build or drone builds are my favourite, they both just seem really stong. I think my high score is with grandes just they do just nuke the entire map
grenades is insane, but it's really hard to utilized it because you need to get closer to your enemy. when using grenades, i have to one shot my enemy, unless i want a bad time. in late game, bosses is a cakewalk, but the little enemies that comes in masses is a pain in the butt to fight, especially that orange enemy that spins and shoots a lot of bullet.
Personally I think this build may have been a more interesting without splinter shot (or at least getting it after singular strike to see how it does with and without) because the grenade explosion would have been just crazy
I tried the game myself, I did a stealthy sniper, and a tanky missile launcher, both ended cause 1. I facetanked a laser by mistake, 2. I tried getting close to hit as many missiles as possible but died by headbutt
somethins, when I go for a flak or grenade build, I go for as many double-taps as I can, although my pc is bad and lags super hard with those builds xd
There's this mobile game called "Magic Survival" It's kind of like Nova Drift and Vampire Survivors. The goal is usually to last around 30 - 45 minutes. But the game gets really challenging, and you need to be focused and have good combos and abilities to win. Im excited for the levi run. If you do it right levi can be really op
I have a build suggestion, though there's no doubt a far better way to do something like this.
Weapon: Dart
Body: Viper or Firefly?
Shield: Halo or Amp?
Upgrades to go for:
Barrage
Attack speed buffs
Projectile count buffs
Homing
Burn buffs
Siege weaponry and antimatter rounds optional.
@@zarnox3071 good to know. I was taking it to reduce spread, since most projectiles were missing
Another gam you might like is risk of rain 2 it is like a combination of this game and vampire survivors
HAd this game since it came out. the granade build or drone builds are my favourite, they both just seem really stong. I think my high score is with grandes just they do just nuke the entire map
Welcome back red curtains
projectiles usually carry your momentum, so thrusting while firing launches them further
Title should be "Launching Explosive Poops"
Cause your ship is firing nukes from the back :)
grenades is insane, but it's really hard to utilized it because you need to get closer to your enemy.
when using grenades, i have to one shot my enemy, unless i want a bad time.
in late game, bosses is a cakewalk, but the little enemies that comes in masses is a pain in the butt to fight, especially that orange enemy that spins and shoots a lot of bullet.
thats why i employ the tactic called burst fire to create a wall of explosions so i cant miss
Congratulations
Personally I think this build may have been a more interesting without splinter shot (or at least getting it after singular strike to see how it does with and without) because the grenade explosion would have been just crazy
That title scared the hell out of me before I looked at the uploader lol
theres an option in settings called speedrun mode, which shows your current wave. could be good to enable
Very good video I enjoyed it
try a similar build with Salvo, focusing mainly on Heavy Calibers for the projectile size
Next episode: 2 billion score!
XD
You should really try Dome Romantik! It's an awesome roguelite strategy action game, that I think you'd really enjoy
Nice 1 mil, felt like I was getting flash banged everything a grenade went off though lol
I tried the game myself, I did a stealthy sniper, and a tanky missile launcher, both ended cause 1. I facetanked a laser by mistake, 2. I tried getting close to hit as many missiles as possible but died by headbutt
This is a pretty cool video. Now make more.
I love this game can you keep playing it
please do a firefly run next with every burn damage mod you can get, i found it to be really OP and wanna see how far you'll get
Shockwave is op for big purple circle lookin boss bc the stage 2 where it fires the purple balls can't hit you
I would love to see a barrage/allies build. SO MANY PROJECTILES
somethins, when I go for a flak or grenade build, I go for as many double-taps as I can, although my pc is bad and lags super hard with those builds xd
There is a super mod that lets projectiles warp the same way you do off screen
imo slow shield is best because you can dodge projectiles much better
haha nuke go brr
try doing a shield build where the main goal is to get a deadly shield
my favorite shield is siphon
i saw the video and said "oo space nukes" and clicked
Try making a minigun build. That would be hilarious
Try a built with the firefly in which you kill enemies farthing on them, I recommend the sifon shield
Apotheosis + leaf on the wind + purification + conflagration + hidden power + rapid regeneration + dying star is a great combo for firefly.
I would’ve tried for barrage
yee nice
The butt bomb build
I wonder if he'd enjoy Noita.
Frankly a hellish game but damn does it make you think.
There's this mobile game called "Magic Survival" It's kind of like Nova Drift and Vampire Survivors. The goal is usually to last around 30 - 45 minutes. But the game gets really challenging, and you need to be focused and have good combos and abilities to win.
The only issue with it for your channel is that it's mobile and played in portrait, and also it's translated from another language, so some descriptions are a bit confusing.
Perhaps you could make a video on it, you should be able to find it on Google Play, not sure about iOS or any PC version

I'd love to see Minecraft Hypixel Skyblock. It may be inside of Minecraft, but it has WAY more strategy and depth than you would think.
Let's go
Have you ever thought about playing risk of rain 2? Since you like playing nova drift you might like it.
