  • Vampire Survivors Part 26 - secretly the most powerful weapon in the game. I'm not sure if something changed with it, or if it really out shined Vandalier all along, but I'm amazed by its power! Also talking about the future of the channel. Listen if you care, enjoy the visuals if you don't.

    Easy link to the Frostpunk playthrough - ua-cam.com/video/9LiIbEBJCU0/v-deo.html
    You'll want to catch up on the story before the next installment comes out, the plan now is to do it in about a month. It was going to be sooner, but I've decided that the month of the puzzle game is about to begin. I've got some great puzzle game plans coming real soon, don't miss it!

    Low-key, I always thought that Frostpunk was a pretty decent game, however your playthrough on it made me slap myself in the face for calling it a decent game. It's one of the most well-made games I've ever seen and your playthrough amplified my experience with it. It would be awesome if you went back to it and played around with the scenarios and the sequel when it comes out, I'm thoroughly invested in it and it's now in my wishlist!

    Since almost everyone is talking about Frostpunk, I might as well share my thoughts on it. I was really surprised to see someone play the game (now that it's been out for almost 4 years) and since there is so much different stuff you can do, every playthrough of a different person is worth watching. Sadly the replayability is... small to non existent, at least for a person like me. The game lives from the unexpected events happening, so you'd need an all new story to play it again. Makes me even more exited for Frostpunk 2 tho!

    • @WillMAW2
      @WillMAW2 2 роки тому

    • @Whitewingdevil
      @Whitewingdevil 2 роки тому

      There's... limited replayability, at least there are different starting scenarios like the Wall or that one where you build bridges to get around, or the one where you build a generator. They all have different storylines to go with them, with a few different outcomes you can get, so there's at least a good 20 hours or so of content in the game.

    I feel like your thoughts about the "deep impact" on certain series depends on the difference between immediate dopamine and a certain level of satisfaction, like how Frostpunk was essentially a deep struggle through hellish conditions, and emerging on the other side alive. That kind of experience, along with the drama along every step of the way, gives audiences a level of closure at the end, whereas games like Vampire Survivors is just a bit of a quicker dopamine hit.

    • @Aliensrock
      @Aliensrock  2 роки тому +17

      True! And that's the other reason I need a solid combination of the two. Too much of the drama-based videos could be draining, and too much of the instant dopamine could feel hollow. I'll be spending a lot of time tweaking to find just the right balance.

    Frostpunk hit so hard because of the pacing. I was pretty much positive you had no chance but you kept holding on by a thread and it was absolutely amazing to watch. Literally an edge of your seat series.
    As you get better at the game I’m wondering if the element of struggle will be as prevalent. If you were to fully optimize the game to a point where every play through is nearly identical, then i could see it losing appeal. There’s nothing like that first blind playthrough though, chasing the dragon now.

It was interesting to see you make these tough moral choices that had genuine effects on the people of the game. I quite enjoyed it, but not because I was happy to watch it, in fact I would say I was stressed more often than not while watching it, but seeing you make it through the challenges under this intense pressure filled me with relief when you made good choices (like dismantling the propaganda center) and stress/terror when you made hard, bad, but necessary choices. I would love to see more series like Frostpunk, 100%

    Another series in this channel that has the quality of Frostpunk, Inscryption, and the original Baba is You, is A Monster's Expedition.

    My favorite weapons are kinda not what people would think. I really like thunder loop and la borra, thousand edge is Hella fun, unholy vesper are really fun, and I like bloody tear more than a normal human should.

    I wouldn't really compare Frostpunk to typical city-builders. Gameplay wise it's kinda similar to Surviving Mars. It's very thematically in line with This War of Mine, which is another fantastic game (I think by 11 bit too). And it gives me the same gameplay experience as some grand strategy/4x games like Stellaris and Endless Legend, which take some getting into but, once you've wrapped your head around them, offer the replay-ability that Frostpunk lacks

    Your first two frostpunk vids got me to buy the game and play through all of it (main game + free dlc). Haven’t really kept up with the series on your channel because I was too busy experiencing it myself but now that im a couple weeks removed from finishing it I’ll prolly go back through your vids on them. If Elden Ring didn’t come out this year, Frostpunk would easily be my game of 2022

    One of my favorite puzzle-esque games that has consumed all too many hours is PvZ2: Project ECLISE. A channel like this so much as playing this single-developer game mod would blow it up instantly.
    Go show Goodpea2 some love!

    Frostpunk is a game I genuinely bought because I enjoyed Skye Storm's play through when it came out.
    I am absolutely USELESS at games like this, but sometimes you just ought to support a developer for doing something amazing.
    Watching your playthrough was just so so good, immediately the best series of yours I've watched so far.
    I'd like to say also that although you come for the game, it's definitely the host that makes you stay. And you're very entertaining to watch.
    Thank you.

    When you released that first Frostpunk video, I got super hyped. The series was amazing, watching you make mistakes and gradually learn the game from the ground up. I'm rearin' to see Fall of Winterhome, The Last Autumn, and On the Edge!
    Only question is do you think you want to try doing an endless run or 2 after you've exhausted the scenarios? You could try to go for the "golden path," which basically means no bad laws at all as an extra challenge

    Looking forward to more FP content!

    I've purchased Inscryption for one friend (back near Halloween) and Frostpunk just recently for another. Neither game is really up my alley, but I know they'll be up their alley and I can watch with them through Discord. So at the very least, you're selling the games, which makes the devs happy :P

    If somebody here hasn't seen Tylers Frostpunk playthrough I highly reccomend it. (even if you've seen it from someone else!)
    It was just so entertaining and honestly couldnt wait for the next episode every day. I was just sat there hoping he would upload Frostpunk that day.
    Without spoiling anything watch it :3

    As someone who originally started watching for Luck be a Landlord, and became a massive fan of the channel through the Inscrytion series, I absolutely get what you're saying about the drawing people in through this game, and people staying for the bigger more exciting games.
    That being said, Frostpunk is honestly one of my favorite series I've seen you play so far, and I'm absolutely 100% down to see more of it.

    The thing about Frostpunk is, I'd love to enjoy watching it. It's a crazily good game. When I played it, I played through the entire campagne in one sitting. But to me personally it feels like it has 0 replay value. Even watching it again, I just feel like I've already seen all of it. As if the game guides you through a linear path, which is a bit disappointing for an RTS

    also yeah the frostpunk series is incredible, I'm still thinking about your playthrough waiting for the next revisit with the same excitement as the next Star Wars or Marvel show/film, that's how damn good it is.

    It's really exciting to know what's coming out on Tyler's channel. Parabolica and Patrick's Parabox is intriguing as it seems and frostpunk series is just hyping me most. Love this game and its DLC is so so so much fun. Winterhome is almost exactly different playthrough and strategy compared to the main game so I'm really really really excited to see Tyler play it through.

    Asking Tyler to play Oxygen Not Included, Day 7: mfw I got sick for a week, Anyways Frostpunk slaps extremely hard and I'm glad I watched the series on from the launch of episode one, the way it twists your morals and makes you fight is great!

    I enjoyed Vampire survivors initially, but now it isnt quite as exciting. Same for Nova Drift, which is also bit more confusing to watch.
    Meanwhile Frostpunk was excellent, I was really excited every day to see it when I end work.

    Yeah frostpunk doesn't get as many views as vampire survivors but it was probably my favorite series on your channel. I totally agree with the "strong reactions to games" thing you mentioned. Frostpunk, inscryption, and surprisingly elechead were great examples of that I think. Just those games that make you really happy to watch vs the more mild mindless enjoyment of vampire survivors which is pretty good in its own right.

    Speaking of games that make people subscribe / stay, I’d have to say for me Baba is You was a perfect series for that. I found you in BTD, but Baba is what got me to be a longtime fan. It’s the series I first subscribed for, and I’ve rewatched it several times now. The recent games have also been just reinforcing the point that I’m going to be staying, and I’m sure there’s lots of people that agree.

    I don't know if it's my favorite, but Frostpunk is *very* high on the list. I don't even know specific reasons why, I just enjoyed it a ton. Even though I can't play it cause my brain doesn't have enough wrinkles, I think Baba is You is my favorite series on your channel. I'm excited so many others liked it, and I cant wait to see what you end up doing with it next.

    You want impactful games? Games like Earthbound do that, Omori, Undertale, etc. Although it would be a little bit off color in this channel, Hades would be another one too, but you played that one live already. Anyway, can't recall any other game like that right now

    If you’re looking for games to ply, I suggest outer wilds. You explore a tiny solar system in a 22 minute time loop trying to solve the mystery of the aliens who suddenly died out millions of years ago. Some puzzle solving, great mystery, a bunch of interesting locations, and an amazing ending. It’s pretty different to the stuff you usually do on the channel, but it’s one of my all time favorites. If you want strong emotions, this is it. Also, don’t look up too much about it.

    No game is eternal, i've played a TON of games since the 90's always looking for that game that i can play and enjoy for a long time, it doesn't exist. Honestly the closest you can get is games that you play with friends that you can make it last longer due to friends you have, that's main reason some people have stuck with MMO's so long, but tend to finally quick after most of their friends have then regret all the time they spent in that one game. Honestly the games that keep me around longest or the ones that keep me coming back are mostly games that allow heavy modding, like elder scrolls/fallout games for example. Also some games that have continued development keeps me coming back, in fact one of games i have most hours in is Path of Exile, i've played it before steam release and keep coming back at least once a year, i play for about a month, then go on to other things. But in the end I simply can't find myself sticking to one game for long, most games a few weeks max, a few rare exceptions maybe a couple months before i have to move on and depending on updates or mod support will determine if i come back.

    i can think of a game that is remotely similar to frostpunk since its a super tough survival game that can snowball where you take care of people
    its just not as time stressed as frostpunk... unless you play the volcano map someone made that heats up over time with seemingly no end
    the game is called oxygen not included
    BUUUT, frostpunk just hits different, and is, in my opinion, way better
    maybe you should try oxygen not included sometime tho

    I don't think it is a very good game for youtube, but Outer Wilds is an absolutely incredible game, probably the best I've ever played. Go in blind for sure, and it wouldn't be the best for the channel because it is the most spoilerable game ever. Go play it though, love the videos as always Tyler
