Right. But the commentator implied the inspiration of the song was his younger brother Dennis who was known to have a wild streak for his entire life. Maybe Dennis felt touched by his older brother's words?
His father ruined him. I saw a video of Brian playing the piano while performing, and Dennis stood behind Brian, and kissed Brian head, it was so sweet, showing the love between them.
Incredible movie. Warren oats is one of my fav actors. Most expressive face ever and tho Dennis and James were great, warren stoke that movie as he usually does.
Dennis dove into the Marina that fateful day in December 1983 to retrieve items-such as a silver-framed photograph-that he’d thrown off his since-repossessed boat, The Harmony, during his two marriages to Karen Lamm Wilson (not Shawn Love, pictured).
No mention in the video that while on tour, Dennis's movie star good looks allegedly acted like a magnet to the band's groupies, which spawned jealousy on the part of the other band members. Source of this was a Beach Boys related biography I read years ago, but I can't recall the title.
That video description looks incredibly ai / chat bot written - so much for the promised "exclusive interviews with friends, family members, and industry insiders", "captivating archival footage" "and never-before-seen interviews",
Yes. Isn't that a shame. No creativity anymore. I loved The Beach Boys and of course, Dennis was the big draw for his masculinity and good looks. But I must take exception with the AI script. He was not very talented as a drummer, certainly not as a singer, and I don't recall any songs he may have written.
Manson was a CIA operative or dupe. He was arrested so many times and he kept getting released. If that were today we'd believe it pretty easy but back then criminals weren't just released on PTAs. Alvin Bragg wasn't born yet. Go read 'Chaos' by Tom O'Neal. It's about Bugliosi, Manson, Terry Melcher and how that theory about Mason's family were going to help the blacks rule after the big race war - that whole theory was made up by Bugliosi and the Feebs. Wild story but I only listened to the Audible version but Wow!
Murray Wilson was the epitome of a son's or daughters WORST nightmare! 😢 😮 Blood is NOT always thicker than water, especially in this case. Murray is probably burning in hell as we speak! 😢😮
@@mumbles215 She should have, but she was probably scared as well and probably was raised to always defer to the head of the family and be a "dutiful wife". She eventually divorced Murray, but it was years after the child abuse occurred.
There was a TV movie about the Beach Boys, I think on ABC in about 1989. That movie depicted Dennis as having intentionally killed himself by drowning. It showed him looking like a homeless dude, fully clothed and tattered-looking, running down a dock and taking a highly emotional-looking final dive into the water. Maybe they didn't have the whole story straight at the time, but it sucks that they'd depict him that way when the real thing was just an accident and not intentional.
if you're talking about Summer Dreams that's not how they portrayed Dennis' drowning at all (the only other tv movie An American Family ends the Beach Boys story with Brian returning to the stage in '76.)
Truth be told, he was a homeless dude, fully (shabbily) clothed, and extremely tattered looking. He had been in a fight with a male friend of Shawn Love, had a blood alcohol level of .26, plus wouldn't stay in a rehab which he desperately needed. He had been fired from the Beach Boys (who offered to reinstate him and help him with his bills and getting his boat back if he'd complete rehab), lost his sailboat for nonpayment, broken up with his 4th wife (Shawn Love), and basically wandered the streets drinking vodka and orange juice out of jugs while always seeking coke and heroin. Over the years, there had been speculation, even though he was a strong swimmer, that he gave up because it's been rumored that the rescue found him curled up in a fetal position.
He wandered around Venice and bars on Jefferson like a Hobo,he was a lost soul,Coke was his thing and it was worth buying in those days if you could handle it, he couldn’t !
According to songwriter Van Dyke Parks. Charles Manson brought a bullet and showed it to Dennis Wilson who asked, "'What´s this?' Manson replied, "It's a bullet. Every time you look at it, I want you to think how nice it is, your kids are still safe." Dennis then grabbed Manson by the head, threw him to the ground and began to beat the living shit out of him until Manson was weeping openly in front of a lot of people and begged them to make him stop. all while a furious Dennis shouted "How dare you!?!"
Some of the pictures are random fan art and fan created imaginary album art, plus ai generated fan art. Also - "He and his brothers created timeless tunes like Pet Sounds" really? lol (Pet Sounds is an instrumental on the album Pet Sounds - it's famously pretty much Brian Wilson plus The Wrecking Crew's baby, Dennis played on it a little bit plus did some backing vocals but doing do any creating).
Main script is kinda basic / overly simplistic, doesn't even get basic facts right about the circumstances of Dennis' death - Shawn wasn't his ex-wife, they were still legally married when he died, and it was things he'd thrown overboard during his earlier marriage to Karen Lamm he was reportedly diving for & a photo of him & Karen he salvaged in one of dives that day.
Jend80,and because dennis was still married Shawn, she said he wanted to be buried at sea which was rubbish, carl said he wanted to be buried with his father, why?who know,he would be last person i would consider,at least you could visit him in a grave, there is nothing.
I find it difficult to sympathize with Dennis Wilson's mourners. He was out of control nearly all the time and specifically targeted other band members to humiliate. While the drug life-style for California rock celebrities seemed to "improve" them at parties, it was a well known risk. He was not only drug addicted, but alcoholic as well. He was responsible for his choices and ultimately his own death. Unexpected? I hardly think so.
Prr5406,Mike love wasn't very nice to him,yes he was on drugs, alcohol,he had stopped the drugs,he couldn't afford them.like Mike love said, sending mixed signals, murry was a bully,if they they had of sued him and locked him away, they would of been fine,Brian loved some of his hearing, all three beaten, made to look in his eye hole without an eye, they were good people, you would go off the rails.their mother was no help, you protect your kids over anyone and anything, you would die for them.there was no love or encouragement shown as dennis said in a song, knew alot of woman, but no love ,felt empty and alone, sad, didn't think people would care about how he felt, with bleeding over the record, but people did, trying to get out of the shadow of the beach boys,he didn't want to be in a band. Yet that's what would have saved him,he didn't want to die,it was either hitting his head on the boat or being pulled down under the water by a diver,it was all watched by the people at the marina, but nothing done.
I used to surf with him at El Porto in 72,he was good!
simply wow!
His life makes me cry for any child of abusive parents.
I've had the privilege of working with one of Dennis's kids, Mike--a very talented chef, who is a dead-ringer for his dad. A tragic story, Dennis...
Wow! Awesome. 👍
Was that at Cafe LA in Westwood in the late 80s? I believe he was working there while I was there too.
@@profanius66, no, it was at 5 Dudley in Venice, from 2001/2003.
Lllll
The sometimeswhy, none of dennis kids look like him.
Let Him Run Wild....that is Brian on lead vocals.

James Taylor was great in it as well!!!

LSD wasn't illegal in '66/'67. On October 24, 1968, possession of LSD was made illegal in the United States.

Dennis was lucky Charlie didn't do him in in 1969

Carl: my sister died of Lung Cancer, heartbreaking
Although I have never met the personally he seemed to be a nice guy to hang out with. 😂😅
He was great. I met him in Vancouver in 1980 after a concert. We laughed and chatted about music and travel.

It was a horrible movie, badly written, badly acted and was revisionist history
That movie (if it's the one I'm thinking of) It was Free on UA-cam a month ago

This entire video is rife full of inaccuracies. Not even two minutes in and I had to stop it based on that factor alone.
It wasnt sauns stuff,it was stuff that karen had thrown in.
Way to many drugs during our heyday!
Old Manson...was his buddy
Old Charlie, what a basket case 😂

She threw dennis things in the water,he had been drinking,he must of knocked his head,as it was merky down there in the water.
Have you considered "Al Jardine" might actually have been "A.I. Jardine" all this time?
If I remember correctly John Stamos murdered Dennis in order to play drums for The Beach Boys.
something like that
Benny bongo,if that was the case he might be playing with them now,but he's not,it was a diver.
You forgot he was married to Christine McVie
He was never married to Christine.
No, they were in a relationship for a couple of years (after his marriage to Karen Lamm), but never married.
Dennis never married Christine,it was an off on relationship, wrecking her car, putting flowers in her garden, she foot the bill.
Dennis never married Christine.
