Have the A9 for a little over a year as well and I love it! I've been somewhat curious about flashing a rom on it but was concerned about possible optimisations issues. Your video shows that it's generally fine, so I might consider giving it a try in the future. Thanks for that! My only concern now is that reverting back to InkOS doesn't seem to be an easy task if anything goes wrong.
Yep, reverting back to the stock ROM isn't as easy as flashing a custom ROM unfortunately. But since an EDL cable isn't too expensive, I just had to try - and I'm glad I did. I'd recommend getting the EDL cable and start tinkering when you have enough time on your hands. With what image did you flash with Magisk in order to root the device? If they ever come out with a truly decent smartphone with a color e-ink display and 24 hrz refresh or more (at least standard animation fps as a baseline) for $600 or less I'm jumping on that shiz in a heartbeat. Even the color e-ink in my kobo clara colour is damn close to being justifiable for what I'm looking for since I'm kinda trying to dial back my phone usage anyway. It just needs to refresh better and quicker enough to show animations and short video without it looking terrible so my Pokemon Go and what not is still enjoyable enough, and I'm all in

It's essentially a regularly backlit LCD screen with blue-light reduction on a hardware level and a nano-etched front glass. I didn't try specific banking apps, but with root access and using the Magisk module safetynet-fix (github.com/Displax/safetynet-fix/releases/tag/v2.3.1-MOD_3.0) it will pass safetynet check in YASNAC for both basic integrity and CTS profile match. After adding the banking app the the Magisk deny list, it should work - but some apps can still detect root regardless. If that's the case, further tinkering with LSPosed is needed, which I haven't tried (yet). But that really depends on the banking app - no way of knowing other than trying specific apps.

You lost me at having to program my own phone.
The yota phone 3 was best.
A lot of changing . I thing that bigme highbreak or what ever is called ,is much better choice by price and specs . So not the best by far . Also boox or other will come up with better choices in the next months .
YotaPhone
this phone is complete garbage to me since it doesn't let me use sdcards
What do you need SD cards for? I used to be obsessed with them but now since I offload everything to cloud or SMB share over my home WiFi network backup, I never need extra storage now.
No color screen - terrible
That’s why we get these , we are looking to detox
let me know how you were able to sign into your bank application on lineageOS
I didn't try specific banking apps, but with root access and using the Magisk module safetynet-fix (github.com/Displax/safetynet-fix/releases/tag/v2.3.1-MOD_3.0) it will pass safetynet check in YASNAC for both basic integrity and CTS profile match.
After adding the banking app the the Magisk deny list, it should work - but some apps can still detect root regardless. If that's the case, further tinkering with LSPosed is needed, which I haven't tried (yet). But that really depends on the banking app - no way of knowing other than trying specific apps.
