Wait just a fucking second, is this the ginger comms guy with the banjo at TQ? Because if so, I'm here because I got a banjo after you played for us in the smoke pit that night we came out to the TOC for heavy equipment work!
I've been taking lessons for about 8 months now and I just discovered your tabs and I'm SO EXCITED I signed up immediately! I'm so excited to have extra things to work on between lessons (my instructor only gives me one song a week and I usually have it down in a day or two so I spend a lot of time wishing for more music lol). So excited!!!
Thank you! I'm so glad I found you. I usually play clawhammer and I just play the chords that I get from guitar tab.. but it never sounds right. It's so hard to find the actual banjo part along with the tab. This will be my first attempt at trying rolls. Thank you for making this effort and posting! .
Thanks for the amazing efforts and tutorials. Noticed you have the tab for Rye Whiskey by Punch Brothers on your website. Any chance of a video upload for this? Many thanks.
Because my old banjo did the same, and it was not geared, meaning, the system in which holds the peg in place consists of gears. Others, like my old banjo, just winded, and i could literally watch it unwind as i tried to tune it to A
You're awesome. I knew how to play this basically but this has much more character. Thanks! I am beyond ecstatic for Down with the Shine; One of my favorite Avett Brother's songs.
A suggestion for a song to do a banjo lesson for is "Lost Highway" by Hank Williams (the Hank Williams). If its too simple to be worth a video by itself throw in "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry". And if you ever could Big Rock Candy Mountains
Another awesome tution video......I don't doubt that you've been asked this a thousand times, but please consider covering Broken Cowboy from The Dead South.
when following along with your tab it appears the order is not the same as what you are playing. looks like you start at line 2 and do lines 3 and 4 after than. but then I get a little lost. help please!
The easiest way to transfer it over is to look up the chords provided in the tab (G, D, Eminor, C). Learn them, and practice until you can play through the song's chord progression without pausing in between them. I don't think people typically pick the tenor banjo, but that shouldn't ever stop you from learning the song and singing to it!
That's very good! and doable by a mere slow pickin mortal like me (only workin on the banjo 2 years about 6hrs a week, 30 years on the guiatar, singin, harp, etc.) Thank You
Thanks!! I will try this with my mandoline, fiddle, bass, guitar friends.Have you tried 'Muskrat"? Great banjo. Check it out at "The Creek Rocks" , cool 2 piece group. Trying to find tabs for that one. No luck so far.
Your keeping me sane out in Iraq. While I’m learning how to play. Thank you.
Wow, really happy to hear that! Please e-mail me if you'd like any of my books for free. happybanjodude@gmail.com
Skinners tornado run skinny thank you for your service. God bless you.
Thank you for your service. May god carry you home safe

A most excellent rendition, sir. The best I've heard yet.
you keep me sane in this isolation. Thank you!
are you planning on putting up a video for rye whiskey to go with the tab? that would be awesome.
thanks for all the tabs/videos!
This is the song that encouraged me to get a banjo!
This guy plays this on his guitar at this Open Mic Night I go to in Manchester, UK. Finally I can learn the banjo part :)
Can you show each chord separately, so that I can see and (hear) what the chord sounds like by it's self?
Charles Thomas I was thinking the exact same thing
I love this song so much, thank you so much
Great vid and Tabs! Thanks man can you post more old crowe medicine show?
I've been looking all over for this tab. Thank you very much for doing this! I am a happy man!!

Sounds great, good song. By the way, been looking at Washburn banjos. Do you recommend the model you're playing?
Any way you could play kesha/pitbull..song: timber..on banjo with tabs? This sounds so cool on the banjo.
The tab page doesn't load for this song. Maybe my computer. Man I would love to know how to play this on the banjo :( sounds good though
I think I'm your 10,000th subscriber. Congrats!
Thank you! Have been working on this song and you've put on the right path!
Thank you so much for posting, always wanted learn it, it's a great tune.
thanks so much for all your work man, if it weren't for your videos I would've already given up on learning banjo

How do I find your super tabs .
@happybanjodude I tried tuning my top string up to A and it broke. I put a new one on but I'm afraid to tune it up again. Am I doing something wrong?
No it's not geared but I was able to tune my new string up. I think my first string may have just broken from being a little old.
I can't seem to figure out what your finger pattern is. Is it forward, backward, etc.?
If you could possibly consider doing "Isaac" by Bear's Den I'd be incredibly thankful. Keep up the good work.
Use a chromatic tuner as you atempt to tune it to A. Also, is your 5th string peg geared? like, the other 4 strings?
Hey HBD, can you do the Banjo for the song Cousin Mary by Fludd, it sounds simple, your the best, thanks!
Hey HappyBanjoDude! just wondering what strings you use? p.s. your videos are awesome!!!
can you please do "broken crown" by mumford and sons. :) thanks a lot for all the others by the way
Can you do a tab for liar by Mumford and sons please of there ep
Yo great video! Your tab's D chord shows a 4th finger on the first string but you used third. I thought that felt strange!

What rolls are you doing for this?
Please do 'thumper' by the wedding band :)
Im about to buy a banjo and im wondering if i can use my guitar capo on the banjo? (fender FB-54) :D

Another awesome tution video......I don't doubt that you've been asked this a thousand times, but please consider covering Broken Cowboy from The Dead South.
On your website do you have the chords for Wagon Wheel in your books??
The tab is under the "Tabs" tab of my website.
Any chance you could let me know what your roll pattern is? Are you going TMTI?
The complete tab is on my website, dude.
I know, I am subscribed on your site

Your fucking amazing
Use your head when you make comments. Our grand kids look at these sites too to listen to the music.
Tom Neff and you think they don't know the f word?
Is that a new banjo head? Why dose everyone on youtube have nice banjo skins and mine wear so fast around the ring?
that is a new banjo head. If it doesn't wear very fast you're not playing enough.
plis take the warden too... i think is good for who is beginning
Copper head road !
Haha my band decided last night to cover this song. I guess it was meant to be.
Thats it im buying a banjo
Do it!
