Good lesson. I'm doing the simple version you began with. The circle of guitar players at my senior center will be surprised when I start playing this on Banjo. We've done it guitar for years. I'll have to take my time with the solo till I'm well practiced. It's still a challenge staying in Rhythm with them on songs simply playing Bum Diddy. I can see good progress in me as a beginner however from your videos!
Thanks Ben, it's obviously been done before, so I really wanted to rework it to where it really captured the melody and then the feeling with the fancy backup.
I love these videos. Best Banjo lessons Iv found, Ill be putting a few bob in your tip jar as soon as I make a paypal account. Have you considered a patrion?
Thanks so much. I did have a Patreon, but found it to be just one too many thing to keep updated. I do enjoy making these videos and plan to keep it going with the support of folks like yourself. Happy picking!
I like this lesson! I think the song gets a bad rap because it wasn’t really a bluegrass band that put it on the map. Who knows. If Charlie Waller was still around, maybe the country gentlemen would do it, and everyone would be OK. Lol!
You're probably right. Think Earl Scruggs Revue doing You Ain't Going Nowhere. It had been done by the Byrds w/o banjo, but it totally worked in a more bluegrass style.
Hi Eddie, Quick question. In Measure 7 of the High Level Backup 'C chord' you illustrate the first string with a tie. How do you play this ? Two 8th notes or 1 quarter note? I have always been confused by this when I see it written in TAB. I would tend to play it like a quarter note creating a slight pause, what I think of as breathing space. But I am interested to hear what you think.
Archie, you are right, it is a quarter note, but written that way because it begins on the "and" of the beat instead of on the beat. You can hear the pause as I play it.
Great video as always. I really love that you showed how to sing a long with the chords. I wish more people did that.
Great feedback. Will keep that in mind for future videos as well.
I already knew a break for this one, but all these backup ideas are awesome. Love this lesson, because it covers it all. Thanks Eddie!
Cool Mitch. I previously did something with this in Banjo Newsletter, but I like how this turned out much better.
Great instruction. Thank you for sharing! 🙏
I love that. Thank you. I enjoy watching what you do.
Thanks JC, Happy Picking!
Zexcellent lesson. Thanks a lot.
Thanks, Larry.

Great tune Eddie. Going to need to learn this one.
Especially if you want to be rolling in the $$!
WW is a great tune. I play it on fiddle. As you mention it is an often requested favourite. 😉
I gave up on my fiddle playing...cool you can do both
Awesome!! Can you play that in that "Boom Chic" sound or style. I love that style
Yes, there are different approaches that could be used. Just sharing things that I personally do.
Sweet
Thanks

I'm a bigginer banjo player. Slowing learning. I wish you would start out slower, though. Thanks for your help!!
Great lesson…is there a banjo tab for this, and if so, where do I find it?
Yes, always check the video description where I state whether or not there's a tab. Please send your request to tuneman@austin.rr.com
