Just amazing that these rations keep so long... loved the freeze dried fruits , the cakes and the decent coffee....it wasn't all bad ... btw. I am a brit , we used to trade rations with the US troops on maneuvers in Germany...many fond memories...Great reviews and keep up the good work...all the best from North Germany
Cheese spread.... "No one in their right mind should be eating this stuff." Proceeds to get another several bites. 😂 You da man!! My first hitch was USAF 1976-1980 in CONUS. Second hitch was US Navy 1980-1986 mostly shipboard. So never had the experience of trying MREs, though did try C-rats a couple times. This MRE dates from the year after I got out of the service, all these decades ago. Don't know if I'd want to try one that old. I've ordered MREs from about the early 2010s and up. Had mixed results.😊
I was in the United States Marine Corps during operation desert shield/storm, and I wouldn’t eat that if my life depended on it. I was leery about eating them back then but 36 years later no thanks.😊
By far the best of the MREs out of the 80s. Beef stew, cherry cake, and cheese dip... knocked it out of the park. Weeks at a time we fought harder for this than our green eggs on Sunday. 😆
Thanks Readiness That was a great review ! Don the guy i got the MRE's from said he kept them in side all these years so i think he was right they are fresh.. well almost any way. 😁Thanks for the shout out too. Till next time LATER.. RUSTYSURPLUS.
Nice review. I would love to get a case of the freeze dried fruits and wish they were in Canadian IMPs rather than the fresh fruit so the whole ration would last longer.
@SmittyMRE A lot of items in MREs are so amazing like baked goods from sterling foods. Why don't these companies actually market products to the general public. Not something that's close to but the actual product and not package it in retort pouches to cut costs if that's an issue.
Hi there, me again. I had one of these in the late 80's, steak 'block' I think - pretty good as I remember, though the portion was small by UK standards. By the way, I have the same LOTR poster, got it at University in the late 80's - in 30+ years, I have never seen another one!
Wow! That one was almost as good as it was back when I ate them! The beef stew was always well liked. I actually preferred getting cheese packets in my MREs. Also you could always tell when someone was eating the cherry nut cake because the smell of cherries was pretty strong.
@@ReadinessRations i understand its old but other guy me ancient is eating stuff from viet name and korea .. c rations and k rations . . i cant believe some of what he eats . buts you doing good

The freeze dried pears were great in the 80s. I was just a kid playin in then woods my uncle gave me his leftover MRE's
Between beef stew and the spaghetti MREs were my favorites back in the Army days.

The cherry nut cake box-flip transition made me smile.
Right up my alley with the cool effect.

When you opened that one pouch put me in the mind of the last of us

Tried eating one of these vintage MREs back in the 00s and it was a disaster. You eating it now is pure nightmare fuel.
Readiness has a cast-iron stomach 😁I subed ya too
Awesome review fella.
Awesome review RR

Totally agree! Part of me wants to get a freeze drier just to replicate them

Excellent review! Like 111. Blessings 🙏🏼👍🏼
These are the MRE I remember. Dry fruit so good.
I can't believe the nuts in that cake were not rancid. Respect for you eating the cheese spread.
Respect brother cool video . I know you’ve been to the hospital lol 😂 because some of that has to be bad. Love the shirt . Keep up the good work! ❤
Alga comment here. Thanks for all the great content!
Good morning from the Great State of Texas. You ae tougher than me when it comes to the cheese. I like this meal.
Ya man the cheese 😜
"No one in his right mind should be eating this." Takes another bite.😂

@@RUSTYSURPLUS I’ll see if I can dig them out. They’ve been in a deployment bag for a long, long time. I separated in 1992
All o can say is that you are braver than I am-I have a brown bag MRE in my collection but I don’t know that I can eat it! 🤢
Did you get sick from this one? That orange drink powder looked like it was full of mold?

Send Readiness one to review
Beef Stew, Ham Loaf, and Beans n Weenies were the best MREs. Chicken Ala King was the worst
1987 food doesn't sound so good to me. You could get really sick doing this....
Hey scrizevo howdy Ready he knows the good ones from the bad ones.
They weren't all bad. Most were bleh
