- Today on Booze On The Rocks, today we show you How To Make Deep Blue Ocean Cocktail. This is a riff of the Deep Ocean shot by the Tipsy Bartender. I chose this as it seemed the closest to the ocean. In my opinion. So simple and easy to make. Try it, tell me what you think. Slap that like Button while your at it. Do you have a recipe that you want me to make?
DEEP BLUE OCEAN
INGREDIENTS
2 oz/60 ml Blue Curacao
2 oz/60 ml Hypnotique
2 oz/60 ml Coconut Rum
1 Maraschino Cherry
METHOD
1. In Place a small amount of Ice into the Collins Glass
2. Pour in Blue Curacao
3. Add More Ice
4. With your bar spoon layer Hypnotique
5. Add more Ice
6. Layer Coconut Rum
7. Garnish with single Maraschino Cherry

I'm from Caribbean and I must say I'm feeling this drink. I would add some blue shark gummies to it for some excitement.

Go for the white rum. It will work really well.

I have all the ingredients, but I don't have Collins glasses. I do have highball glasses. Do you think the highball will be tall enough for the drink, if not what would you recommend I use instead?
Yes it will work. You Collins glass and Rocks glass both hold 10 oz/300 ml. Add the ice and then layer your fluids in the same order that I did. It will look really nice.

One more question I have, I do have a small home bar but trying to add to it (slowly), that I can share with friends & family. If I currently have Highball glasses, do I ever really need Collins glasses or would the HIghball do the trick 9/10 times? Are there any cocktails that you would say, I have to serve in a Collins glass?
@@SportsLuvr Generally the difference is not that noticeable, depending on the glass.
However a Collins glass is supposed to be a little taller and more narrow than a Highball glass.
And Really you can make a cocktail in what ever glass you have or prefer to use. You just have to keep in mind your total volume of liquid and the size of your ice.
And then enjoy. That is all that matters.

I understand about just using what I have or prefer, but in some ways I am a perfectionist and I like things to be done the right way, haha, especially if I am presenting it to someone or hosting people.
What is hypnotiq I m in Japan so any alternative things can I use may be it is difficult to find hypnotiq in Japan cocktail looks very nice
Hpnotiq is an alcoholic beverage. It is native to New York, but bottled in France by Heaven Hill Distilleries, made from fruit juices, vodka and cognac. It is 34 proof (17% ABV). its tastes like a sombination of passion fruit, mango, and citrus fruit. Having said that some people think you can use blue curacao, however it depends on the flavour you are looking for, maybe tropical rum. But honestly I am not sure, you might need to combine several flavored spirits to come close.
Another great effort by you. Your drinks are really good. One too many pieces of ice in this presentation but otherwise A+.

The drink was very tasty! I had a hard time with the jigger/ layering technique however.
If you tilt it too little, the liquor runs down the jigger and onto the floor; but then if you tilt it too much it runs too fast into the drink and blends without properly layering 😫
Try using the ice instead of the spoon. that will slow down how fast the liquid enteres the glass.

That is a good question. A blueberry liqueur mixed with some rum would work.

Tried this many times the hyponotiq just instantly sinks so I don’t know what you did to get it to float but it just doesn’t
It depends on a couple of things. The density of the liquid. Ie how much sugar it has. So the blue curacao has more sugar so its denser and heavier. the Hpnotiq has less sugar so it will layer. but, it depends on how slowly the hpnotiq runs down the side of the glass and the distance to the next liquid. Also if you have ice to slow it down too.
So in this case. I use the spoon completely pushed against the glass and pour very slowly. The ice helps to slow the progression of the hypnotiq as well. So if you are using a pour spot on your bottle it does pour out faster and can be an issue. if you have a jigger or a string glass with a spout that will help control the flow as well.
@@boozeontherocks I use a barspoon and a pour spout. Still sinks. I bar tend regularly and make a multitude of layered shots and drinks so I know how to properly layer and about specific density and how to change the density of a liquid. Base hpnotiq insta sinks no matter what I try.

@@boozeontherocks on flavors it was pretty sweet but worked well. On the visual aspect it was actually awesome. Cause the grenadine started to make its way down creating a cloud of blood in the pool/ocean ;)

Hi, hypnotiq was created in New York and is made from fruit juices, vodka and cognac. Its 17% above and it tastes like alike passion fruit and mango liqueur.
