Your video is real life of the DIYer. Although not funny for the times you struggled or when things did not come together all the time with each step, you did make it very entertaining. I thought it was only me that had these issues. I had to laugh through this video because it was so close to home with my experiences too. I hope things finally came together. Keep going! Your satisfaction will be at the finish line. Best wishes.
I'm glad you got the humor in my edit! Definitely over dramatic.. but I truly did get my @$$ kicked. To your point.. it was all worth it in the finale video if you hadn't see it yet! ua-cam.com/video/gDDP7M8juXM/v-deo.html Anyway, I appreciate the comment and you watching my video! Thanks!!
Definitely the best video about oil pan remove on youtube :) I have the same job ahead, seeing you struggle i dont really want to start man :D Thank you for this tutorial, i really enjoyed your humor and overall quality of the video. Should deserve more views
Thank you!! Honestly it's not as bad as I made it out to be. There are much better and more concise tutorials out there I was just trying to make a joke of the whole thing. It's definitely not fun.. but you can totally do it. Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate it! This year really got busy for me but I'm trying to get back to regular builds and projects in 2023 so I hope you're doing well yourself and you stick around. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
Good video, thanks! This video so reminds me of myself working on my 99 BMW Z3, oh the frustrations, and hassles of keeping the car running! My grandson tells me, 'gramps get of rid of that junker!' Seems that I spend more time fixing it than driving🙃
Yo, Awesome video. I just dropped my M50 pan today and wanted to see if I was doing it right and I had to laugh several times at your comments, swearing and meditation pose (legs crossed) ahahahah. This job is not for the faint at heart but it's gotta be done and you made it very amusing. I think I used a couple more curse words than you but the end result is the same so, it's all good. Next time I think I'll just dump my tool box on the floor and drive the car over it so I have everything already underneath :) what a PITD but fresh oil changes from now on! Drive on!
HAHAH honestly dumping the toolbox on the floor is a brilliant idea. I was sore mostly from getting up and down. Thanks so much for watching and nice work getting it done on your car!
Ill say it again and again. You graduate to this car. I have owned my E36 M3/4/5 for 9 years and in that time have repaired so many things that my Honda never needed and was a real challenge. Id say, BMW Drive to Repair ratio 2:10, Honda ratio is like 10:2.
Any reason you removed the power steering pump? Gonna tackle this job myself and the Bentley manual doesn't say anything about removing the pump, only reservoir.
That's a really good question.. If I remember correctly I think I wanted more room to droop the power steering rack, but in hindsight I really can't remember why I did it. Just more line extension is the only logical reason why I'd subject myself to more work and potential @$$ kickings lol. Thanks for the question!
Fix it Bongbong I just pulled my pan on my m50 yesterday. I didn’t pull the ps pump off at first after I unbolted the whole pan, but turns out you do actually have to take ps pump off cause the pan gets hung up on it. (specific to m50’s only) Dude getting the u-joint off the input shaft on the rack was SO DIFFICULT. I literally couldn’t do it without taking the subframe off first.
Man it's all coming back to me.. I remember getting hung up on the same thing. I re-watched my video and thought... clearly I edited this to be dramatic and funny, but now I'm thinking about it more the whole job sucked for me hahaha. Nice work bud!
What tire size are you running on those style 29s? Im trying to see how much rubber I could fit without rubbing. Great vid, will be re-watching when I have to inevitably drop my oil pan.
If I believe at the time of filming I had Toyo R888 225/50s on there. Appreciate you watching, it was more of a VLOG and less of a tutorial, but I hope it was helpful. There are far more detailed videos on sump gasket replacement! Cheers!
It's been a few years but I believe I had to drop the subframe because there wasn't enough to clearance to slide the pan out due to the oil pickup tube. If you're right... welp I definitely feel like an idiot and I'll be sure to just slide it out next time 😂
@@FixitBongbong lol true, but I'm legitimately stuck with it. My parents abandoned it and i took it up, I've already done alot, all that's left is brake pads, new fluids and new suspension would be great, but i could work towards that,
@@dxrkshvde1877 You totally got this! Excellent work for saving her and getting her back on the road. Keep me posted! Better yet.. share the journey on youtube!
@@FixitBongbong thanks mate, i just might put it on UA-cam, people here seem to like the e36s for some reason. Anyway thanks again and by any chance could you do a video on how to change the master cylinder if you haven't already
Oh crap this looks like one pain in the arse my friend told me too buy a BMW E36 it's so fun to drive but heck this looks hard I'm going to do it though because the Bmw dealership would cost way too much so ya f***k it getting started right now.
The infamous "crossed legs pause" I felt that on a spiritual level.
Hahahah.. Anytime it gets to that level of pause I like to think.. somewhere there's another person also fighting with their car. Thanks for watching!
The video is real life...the way it should all be. Well done 👍
Thank you!

I love the realism of this video 🤣
Dude, that jack accessory is actually genius. I've been using my diff and front subframe for the longest time and that would be so much easier.
just subbed!! good work man now i have vids to binge watch 🤪
Wow thank you so much!! I'm currently editing the final video to the series.. should be up soon! I appreciate the sub!

I have those same orange and white jack stands....
Twinsies!
Entertaining… and informative 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thank you! lol I felt like the topic had been covered by other creators so I thought I'd just have fun with it.
oh jeez, makes me excited to do my oil pump nut D:
Nah, you totally got it. My suffering was totally for entertainment purposes! (i mean it still kinda sucked)

Amen. But when she runs.. pure bliss! Then again I've got a ka24e with 329k no drama ever. lol

Why did you do all that extra work to remove the oil pan? It slides out. All you have to remove is the x brace if you have one.

Bro how do you seal the dipstick? My keeps leaking when I'm running it. I got a new o ring but still leaks it's annoying asf it's a good amount of oil
Leaking from the bottom/pan?
Seems to be an appropriate amount of cursing on this channel. Nice work Josh.
Ugh.. oh yes. I don't hide the butt kickings. It's pretty obvious I'm guessing my way through this stuff.
By any chance could you please help me restore my bmw e36 320i, i need all the help I can get
I mean.. one could argue given the @$$ kicking I went through I'm the one who needs help. 😂

Lol.. seriously though BMW packs that dang car so tight.
This is like the tenth E36 oil pan tutorial in a row where the narcissist keeps pointing rhe camera at himself instead of the car.

You totally got this! It is quite a pain, but the video was edited for dramatic effect. E36s are definitely a joy to drive. Good luck!
I’ll make sure not to work on my Beamer after watching this.
Next time I might fly you up here for help.
Haha just lift it with a hoist
Yeah next time I'm just yanking the engine. Since it's a race car there are no accessories installed, would have been way easier.
