The scene with Philip makes me cry. as somebody who wasn't very nice to his step Dad and never got to say he was sorry before he passed that one that one hurts.
I was extremely fortunate to have an excellent relationship with my stepfather. I was able to be there for him when he passed, and I was able to tell him that I loved him and promised him I'd take care of my mom. I still miss him a lot over 2 years after, but my mom and I have survived and I know he'd be proud.
"What's the plan then? "RIght. We take Pete's car, we drive over to Mum's, we go in, take care of Philip - "I'm so sorry, Philip" - then we grab Mum, we go over to Liz's place, hole up, have a cup of tea and wait for this whole thing to blow over."
Galaxy quest is another true cult classic. Always seems to be comedy's that stand the test of time. Gonna throw dudes wheres my car out there for minor cult status as well
The kid who said that looks so much different now. Ever time I see himself in something I'm always surprised it's him. He's the 1 dude in Prometheus that gets killed
Reminds me of a cartoon I saw a year ago or so in which Indy shouts, "That belongs in a museum," and some college activist asks, "A museum in the item's home country?" Then Indy's face drops. 😅
Aww don't please...! I was having a nice day until I was reminded of just how bloody old and inert, defunct, inane I am now. Ohh, to be as of yesteryear...ert, funct, and ane again!
love how they recreate Shaun's boring morning routine with the zombie aftermath flair to a T. And how every normal extra at the beginning of the movie became a zombie later on.
I was a store manager for Blockbuster video when this came out it was pretty popular and definitely one of the best movies I had to watch I had no idea until watching it how awesome it was going to be 😅
1. I think Ed's "I GOT WOOD" shirt is just -if not MORE iconic- as Shaun's white shirt and red tie combo. 2. Members of the Spaced cast show up in the movie. A couple are the "alternate" crew his other girl_friend is traveling with. Notably, delivery man Tyres can be seen among the "Zed Word"s, as his high-vis yellow delivery outfit makes him stand out. 3. There have been a few more action figures besides McFarlane's Cult Classics line, including (ugh) POPs (UGH) 4. I just want to say, I've seen a few pics of the Main Trio going around for the Anniversary Screenings and, WELL DONE, NICK! Looking trim again, once more! Stay healthy, Frosty! (I first met Goodman in 2005 near his peak heaviest, and he had a couple years of powerlifting from Flintstones helping him move about. I never heard if Nick had any similar regimen over the years, like on Into the Badlands or something?)
I was introduced to Shaun of the Dead during a Halloween party in 2005. I fell in love with this movie immediately, and no Halloween since then has been complete without Shaun of the Dead. The romance, the comedy, the horror...everything fits together and flows like a symphony in this movie. Oh, and did I mention how awesome the Shaun of the Dead soundtrack is? The music throughout this movie -- from the intro to the end credits -- is almost as captivating as the movie itself! Lately, every year at Halloween season (Labor Day through October 31st), I watch Shaun of the Dead at least four times!
I find it funny that you posted and I'm watching this, today. Today would be the anniversay of my highschool boyfriend and me. When we broke up, my sister cheer me up by taking me to see Shaun of the Dead in theatres. It will always be a comfort movie. hahaha.
It was mainly filmed around North London, but the story was set around South London. The barman John seen being hit with pool cues, was played by Steve Emerson, who is actor, stuntman and stunt co-ordinator, acting he's been in well Shaun of the Dead to Maigret, stunt wise he started with Dr No (+ multiple 007 films), Harry Potter (multiple), and amongst stunt co-ordinator, stunts and acting he was the main baddie in Bloody New Year a fellow horror film on a low budget filmed in and around Barry Island.
Another way to think of it is that you could go live on the former set. I'm going to assume the people living there are all massive fans of the trilogy.
I can't believe Jason there behind you slept through the whole thing! Rude! This and Hot Fuzz are two of my all time favourites and hopefully you'll get around to doing HF soon as well as I'd love to see your take on it! We also have teatime meaning usually an evening meal in the UK though usually just referred to as say 'What's for tea?' as well as taking tea as in a morning or afternoon teabreak in posher circles (I don't think they snort it though.) There are quite a few UK comedy horror films made a few years after this worth checking too. Two of my favourites being The Cottage, Cockneys Vs Zombies and Severance. Two other non UK comedy horror films worth a look are Dead Snow and Bubba Ho Tep. Thank you for another brilliant video, Minty! P.s. that Indiana Jones impression was really good!
I was a study abroad student at Leicester Uni for a semester. My English buddies introduced me to zombie films and just so it happened, Shaun came out while I was there so I got to see it in the theaters after basically getting an intensive crash course on the genre and the films it references. Good times.
No wonder it became a classic. It is a good hearted love letter to horror and zombie movies, while having aspects of coming of age storys and a brilliant chemestry between the cast... There is something to like for everyone. Personaly, I like Hot Fuzz even more, but Shaun of the dead will always have a special place in my heart 🙂
Dude I just spent 30 minutes trying to look up your youtube name, I was subbed about 5 years ago, had to create a new one and just remembered I was subbed here, for the life of me couldn't remember the channel name "who's the Australian youtuber that reviews films" down about 10 results.. Thank you so much. I have loved your videos for years. Informative and entertaining. You sir are a blast. I love your collectibles and poster love. I just got the Army of Darkness poster and asking for The Quick and the Dead and True Romance ones.
The weird thing is that Shaun of the dead is not the only entry in the category of "Romantic British Comedy involving Zombies", but it is absolutely the best. 😂
I'm a HUGE fan of The Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy. I absolutely LOVE each movie. I also was able to get access to Spaced and geeked out on that too! I love them each for they each own unique aspects and it's just very enjoyable to step into those worlds. Not as many people, that I know, of got a chance to see Worlds End. Many NEVER EVEN heard it & it's title. It really appealed to me. I LOVE all the references to Sisters Of Mercy. There's even nods to more of the Sisters fandom throughout the film.❤❤❤
This is one of my favorite zombie comedies. My favorite track on this was the electro done by Man Parrish. “Hip Hop Bee Boo Don’t Stop “I never heard before and now I jam to it from time to time. It is sad that the Winchester was never made into a tourist place
One minor addition, Spaced was co-written with Pegg and Wright by Jessica Hynes (née Stephenson), who also co-stars as Pegg’s character Tim’s flatmate Daisy. She also appears in SOTD as Sean’s friend Yvonne.
Love night of the living dead 1990, one of the only remakes to be better than the original like the thing. It just hasn't got all the nuance that dawn 1978 has.

You can bet I hurt myself from laughing so hard. Great movie any time of the year. So throw it on around valentines day.
The set of this film is where me and my wife met. She was a fan who liked Spaced, and turned up to be a zombie extra and I was the Floor Runner on it.
That’s damn cool.
That's Crazy.
Real life Zom-Rom-Com!
now that is a success story... :D
That’s really cool is she visible on screen? Do you see her?
"We're coming to get you Barbara" is another callback to Romero. In Night of the Living Dead the line in "they're coming to get you Barbara"
The background music too. It was used in Dawn of the Dead.
even though Romero got a private viewing, he completely missed that reference
Yes obviously
