"From long, long ago." Younger people are so funny. The Birds was one of the first scary movies I saw as a kid, around 1966 or so, on TV. Other favorites: The Crawling Eye, The Blob (both from the year I was born), and Them!, because it was documentary-style and I've always been nerdy.
Great video as usual, Minty. Always felt enthralled by Tippy Hedren's classical beauty, but, hey, now that I'm 65 I find myself appreaciating Jessica Tandy's good looks as well... Happy Halloween!
Tippi, at 96 years old and still visits the area of Sonoma County where Bodega is, and she has always had a "Birds" day and loves having been part of that production. She's very personable.
The story The Birds is as an at the end of world event when no people survive; the movie is set at the beginning of the event and ends there when nothing happens after they leave.
Back in 2018 I got the opportunity to visit the home of famous film composer Christopher Young. In his living room I saw that he had a copy of that The Birds Barbie...and it was signed by Tippi Hedren. I even have a photo of it.
I enjoyed this movie up until the end. I'm sorry, i was so invested. All this mayhem, and terror. Then, it just ends with such an unsatisfying resolution. I don't believe all movies need a conclusive ending. That all stories need a bow on it to be satisfying is nonsense. This one, I feel, needed it. It just fell flat at the end for me.
Yeah the no explanation aspect of The Birds annoys me to no end. I have to think it was intentional. The message is things happen for no known reason and that's life.
The new Tick was great, had a hilarious 2 seasons. Unfortunately it was cancelled to make room for the first stages of wokeWorthless TV and films. Such a shame 😢
This movie is definitely a true classic. I have watched interviews with Tippi Hedren and it is incredible how the special effects were done!! Alfred Hitchcock is definitely a true master of horror!! 😊

But the kids from the school werent smoking so that pokes a big hole in that theory! Great movie and still scaring people today and giving them a bird phobia! Love your videos!
Love this movie. I watched it on Halloween this year. The lack of music and explanation is perfect. You're left feeling the same way the characters feel.

Here in Brazil, "The Birds 2" was broadcast a pair of times on TV. It was also released in VHS back in the days. All I can say is: just ignore it and it won't attack you.
I remember watching this when I was about 12, it was summer holidays and I was at a friend's house in the garden. I was telling my pal about the movie when we were dive-bombed by a couple of crows. I ran home screaming. It's been one of my favourites ever since.

I could easily see a Netflix series where in each episode someone in a small town suffers a first bird attack, then his 'dirty secret' is revealed, and finally gets killed by birds
On Hitchcock's rough treatment of Tippi Hedron: For the bird attack in the attic, Hitchcock tethered a couple birds to Tippi, so they would go frantic, trying to get away.
