I installed an 8” Freedom Shield on my 2021 SGS today. OMG it’s perfect. The wind is passing about 2” above my head. Amazing product. the owner is very nice and helpful. On the interstate I still couldn’t hear the radio.
John at Freedom is a great guy as are his products and service. I ended up with a Freedom shield on every Harley I owned in the last 10 years. As for the nose thing, I always liked it better down around my mouth. That usually put the wind just going over my helmet but getting some air still. Up around my nose I found it cuts into your view too much, especially on rough roads as you mentioned.
You make a really good point Doug, I was watching a short from Mc Ryder today and he talked about how he likes it as his chin as well. That’s about where this one hits so I think I’ve definitely found the sweet spot and I really like this shield.
@@BoDean52 Not bad at all. I have not ridden after dusk with is so I can't speak to night riding but I only really look through the shield when coming over a rise in the road.
I never thought much about it, until I had it.... One of the most comfort and ride enhancing options on a touring bike is a power adjustable windshield. Using a small, recurved windshield I can go from clean, full airflow on to my upper body and helmet to a complete bubble of still air past triple speeds on the highway. I can also adjust for temperature, weather conditions and my even my passenger's comfort on the fly. I doubt I'll ever have touring bike without this option ever again. I like the 13" tinted on your bike best... It works for you and balances nice with the chopped tour pack.
Appreciate that and I totally agree and one of the reasons I really like the 13 inches not only does it do the job, it looks good but it’s a one shield deal. I won’t need to flip anything out.
Freedom Shields are great and the customer service from John is second to none. I called him when I traded for my ‘23 Ultra and he took the time to walk me through the process of ordering the correct windshield for my height. Only windshield I’ll ever use.
I used to have a Freedom Shield on a previous motorcycle. Great product and I seem to remember the service and support to be very helpful. Well done sir.
Appreciate the review and always nice to have more options! Run a Harley 4 / 4.5”, can’t recall the exact measurement, wind screen on my SG spring to fall and switch to a taller KW wind screen for winter riding. Comfort is KING for me. Short one allows bunch of air through helmet vents, tall cuts it down. Both with no helmet buffeting.
I tried a Klockwerks 13” sport flare screen, but the wind was full in my face and o lot of noise!! Now I ordered the 16” touring for my RGS 2023 modelyear. I’m 6,2” and 33/(34 jeans) inseam. I put a Mustang de luxe touring which is a bit higher and put 13” shocks, so the bike tips a bit forward. I hope it will be good……aim living in Holland
I have one on my Road King, only issue I should of got 16 I think, if I sit up right I can see over it, but when i sit in normal position I look through it, maybe when get new seat it be better.
That’s true and that’s why I like this one better. There is no distortion and it really gets the job done. It’s interesting as you’re supposed to have the top of the windshield that your nose, but I was watching a Mick Rider video today where he talked about. He likes it at his chin just so he never hast to look through it.
I've been running windvest shields for the longest time. I'm a big fan of theirs but still waiting for them. I might just try one of these. I'll try the 13". Great video!!
Awesome. Glad you got a good Windshield. There are no options for the Street Glide other than Harley. I tried the 10" crease across my line of vision. the 8" is perfect. Nice wind blocking and can hear radio. but no tint. Cant wait for aftermarket to offer options!
@@Lous-Clues I personally like the feel and look of the 10inch windshield. I think visibility would still be achievable with the 12 inch windshield, but I can't confirm without owning the larger one. Wow, looks so good Bob, can't wait until I get mine tomorrow. I swear you are such a bad influence. Of course mine is nowhere that easy. The flip to the shield is very cool. Be safe, have fun.
@@drugbuster0267 I am just shy of 6 foot three. Try it out and just make sure you keep the plastic on it and they’ll flip it back out for you if it’s too big. I just came back from 1000 mile trip and it performed flawlessly.
People keep misrepresenting the purpose of the upper vent in the fairing on this as well as the previous models. The fact is that the vent on the new fairing shape is even more critical than before. That vent is not there for rider temperature comfort ("Air Flow"). The vent is there for pressure equalization which reduces buffeting. This is why when you close the vent buffeting is increased dramatically over having it open. The vent opening controls the level of equalization of pressure.
So you had the dad bike, ultra, traded it for this RG and added tour pak, higher screen, i would have gotten a new full tourer it comes w everything for touring. O well.
Makes sense on the surface but the 2024 is an entirely different bike than previous years other than the frame. Also the full touring models do not come with the same package, only RG, SG and CVO's. Thanks for watching.
Yeah the 13” looks way better. My stock one was almost right at eye level and it drove me crazy. I need to play with mine now. I might be to low. Yeah that one looks good.
