A friend of mine is a great guitar player. He inherited an expensive watch from his father.... He didn't really care for the watch but he felt obliged to keep it untill his mother convinced him to sell it to buy a beautiful Gretsch White Falcon guitar. He plays that guitar every day !! I think it was a good decision.
In my opinion I’m not even mad that he sold them. I’m mad that he sold them for wayyy less than their actual value. If your going to sell a family heirloom that’s been passed down make it actually worth it.
