There are 2 kind of experts that they bring in this show. Business owners and museum managers/workers. None of the museum related workers will ever price a piece. It's not ethical to put a price to a piece that should be in a museum for public display and not in private hands. But since that's not realistic at all, they can at least assure the authenticity of the piece and give a bit of knowledge of its history. Rebbeca, the toy shop owners and other experts, are business owners and they sell and auction stuff, they are not in the historical/museum environment. SO they are open to talk prices and appraise pieces for the pawn shop.
In his eyes a lot of things don't have a monetary value and should be in museums and in some ways with certain things he's correct but so long as they're owned by people most won't part ways with something that valuable for free.
Rick at the grocery store Cashier: that’ll be 46.70 Rick: you know what, I really don’t know enough about it, let me call down a buddy of mine, he can check it out and maybe he can give us a price Cashier: sir? Rick: you gotta understand, I take all the risk. The chicken could be bad and I have to walk it all the way to my car. Best I can do is 20
That's how people should negotiate with Rick. Just walk out cause offer is usually on the table a week from now. It's not take this offer now or its off the table.
Even rarer in the US is the LeMat Carbine. More expensive than the pistol, it was usually found in the hands of foreigners or eccentrics with spare income. I've personally only seen one original on the East Coast of the US. And I haven't seen or heard of anyone else having one across the country.
Well let's be real here. All the experts could simply not tell the customer the value and rick could have an ear piece and the expert when they leave the store could say the value of it. Or some like that
Me: Hey Rick, just wanted to wish you a happy Father’s Day! Rick: I tell you what, I’ve got a guy that knows about this stuff, let me give him a call and get him down here to take a look. Me: Oh, okay..
I can't imagine firing a 20 gauge shotgun shell out of a barrel that short. It would probably be more painful than firing a Smith & Wesson 50 caliber revolver.
No the shot is without problem , only a bit more than the 44 main barell , on my reproduction LeMat, because black powder did not quick like modern powder ...
It wouldn't be loaded to anything near a modern shell. With the short barrel, there's no point. I imagine the velocity from the shotgun barrel is pretty pathetic.
I'll never understand people who claim to be collectors, but are trying to sell stuff that would be considered the "Holy Grail" of their respective collection
I really hate how Rick will explain the history of the item to the seller, then the expert will come in and explain the exact same thing to Rick. It's exhausting.
