I'm glad he went to the lab section of this map so I could see that the labs were working in this video's save. After I saw the labs working I downloaded this map, haha.
Each train is roughly enough materials that you could not only launch a rocket but build a base from scratch to launch a rocket. Somebody once added up every thing needed to build the most basic base and launch a rocket. It was something like 480k Iron and about 400k copper which is roughly what the train holds. You also need 2 wood which no train has 😉 Xterm if you read this the 2 wood is for the very first power pole.
It is amazing. I recently tried to find a train game that was as good as factorio and anything that had close to this scale ran like a dog. Remembering that they don't have to animate inserters and manufacturing.
I like trains too. On reddit I once described Factorio as the best Train game out there. It's because they're doing real work not picking up goods generated by an algorithm.
I also have a vanilla no-cheat base that produces 10kspm, but it only uses "normal" 2-8 trains, only belts & trains for science creation, no direct insertion. Probably not as impressive as these long trains tho.

Yes it's about an 8 -10 minute train ride to the far right. There is nothing interesting out there just more of the same. Some large Solar patches and more of the mining and smelting at the ore patch. Why use productivity in miner when it has 12,000% already. Adds 30% only, beyond miniscule. Better to put speed modules to boost the speed of that 12k%. I guess either way it doesn't matter.
Your absolutely right. If you spotted some miners with prod mods in they are rare and not normal. Sometimes when I get down to the last dregs of a patch there isn't quiet enough to keep the smelters running flat out. When that's the case if I have some prod or speed modules on me and I'm passing I'll bang them in just to keep it going flat out for a few days longer. At the start of a new patch when I chuck down like 50 miners to cover it all I never bother with any modules at all.
@@scottbarbary5112 that's a good point. Additional comment on FPS.. move from nuclear to solar power is also a way to get better FPS as solar unfortunately is still in Factorio 1.1 way better for FPS than nuclear power... I go steam - nuclear until main base (and often 2nd intermediate base) is complete and up - then transition to solar when solar train is up and running fully and solar power is more than nuclear power. Sad as I love the nuclear plant layouts and look. Not many uses of centrifuges and they are cool looking machines. And on top of this - using console command to remove pollution really helps FPS - and at this stage both pollution and biters are not needed and can be removed to help the fps... Removing pollution actually helps a lot more than removing biters FYI....
Your right about removing pollution but the point of this map is 100% vanilla with no mods. So pollution and bitters stay even though they eat up the UPS. I also love nuclear and I'm sad it has to go. One of the changes the game could do with is a use for Uranium in the normal science production. I have often put forward that you could use nuclear train fuel instead of rocket fuel for lunching rockets and then it uses less actual rocket fuel to launch a rocket.

My green circuit outpost alone has 10k bots in it xD
@@quintdewaard4890 I currently have between 45 and 50k, depending on how bittey the bitters are. There is a beaconed assembler somewhere printing bots 24/7 I cant even remember where it is... My base is "slightly" less symetrical than the averange one...
@@yuidesu5625 in your base or in your green circuit setup? I think I'm running around 250k in my complete factory. Trying my hand at a 10k science factory with only bots/trains.
@@quintdewaard4890 Im only 103 hours in on my first playtrough so that my whole base and its messy af. I plan on starting a new map with all the lessons I learned (and expansion off dear goddess) when I reach 100 rockets.
There are people with more money then science packs that this map has produced in 2.5 years. That's nuts
I was psyched to see this in my feed. I watch a lot of Factorio content while I play including your base tours and I've already seen them all 3 or 4 times now so this is exciting. Great video!
My god... its beautiful.
this base gives me gtnh player vibes.
GTNH? Is this a minecraft reference?
I just got this game, and i was looking for bases for inspiration on making my own factory city, but after seeing this.. im just defeated
Nooo don't say that. Just start small that's what I did. For ages the base you see now did just 250 SPM.
this may sound like a cliche but irl I just caught myself slightly open-mouthed with a roll-up ciggie stuck to my bottom lip..
It's taken me 2 weeks to get a green science automated..
If they do this for fun.. what do these guys do for their day job??.. I am genuinely awed in the true sense of the word
Keep at it. The trick is construction bots and a build train. All of a sudden the speed you build at will increase drastically as you realise you can automate building your automated base.
Nice video, just so you know in the train GUI on the top right, you can click the map icon to go to map view where the train is
41:07 yes it was less than 30 seconds to fill the steel chest xD
That base is at the scale where it would still be very impressive if cheats were used. It's insane.
Holy fuck. Half a billion science pack for one research
No wonder the green research bar looks like it's stalled. I've actually have had several downloaded megabase saves with a lot of production stalling in the lab department like it will stop making purple science or stop making multiple ones or whole sections will just stop and I clearly don't see what's up with them doing that after an hour plus of trying to trace the problem.
I'm glad he went to the lab section of this map so I could see that the labs were working in this video's save. After I saw the labs working I downloaded this map, haha.
One of those trains holds more stuff than my base made in its lifetime
Each train is roughly enough materials that you could not only launch a rocket but build a base from scratch to launch a rocket. Somebody once added up every thing needed to build the most basic base and launch a rocket. It was something like 480k Iron and about 400k copper which is roughly what the train holds. You also need 2 wood which no train has 😉
Xterm if you read this the 2 wood is for the very first power pole.
rewatching this for the 3rd time damn id love a copy of the save file
It's in the top pinned comment. For some reason I can't post the link anymore.
I'm even more amazed how optimized this game is to run this kind of builds with no issues :D
It is amazing. I recently tried to find a train game that was as good as factorio and anything that had close to this scale ran like a dog. Remembering that they don't have to animate inserters and manufacturing.
I'm scared to imagine, how mutch time will took such progress with bob/angel mods :D
This is the oddest time waste I've ran across
Did you look at the fluids numbers? I think I can say people wanna see the big number.
Great vid, great tour! Appreciated the full vid! What a bulld!
I did look at the fluid numbers, near the end.
And thanks! It was an awesome base to tour!
38:25 here he looks at fluids
He even mised the 1 Tera units of water consumed, aka 1 trillion units of water
You could make a religion out of this™
Factorio is my religion. THE FACTORY MUST GROW.
the warnings scared the shit out of me lmaoo
i like trains
(and im also impressed by the base in that vid, 10k really is a feat)
I like trains too. On reddit I once described Factorio as the best Train game out there. It's because they're doing real work not picking up goods generated by an algorithm.
I also have a vanilla no-cheat base that produces 10kspm, but it only uses "normal" 2-8 trains, only belts & trains for science creation, no direct insertion. Probably not as impressive as these long trains tho.
at 12:01 "[Cheating ore patches into the game] is certainly a viable way to [build huge bases] if they want..."
WHILE A FUCKING BLUE CHIP TRAIN TAKES MORE THAN TWENTY FRIGGIN SECONDS TO SNAKE OUT OF THE VICINITY.
Blue chips stack to 100 each, 40 stacks per wagon, times 100 wagons equals HOLY SHIT FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND BLUE CHIPS IN A SINGLE SHIPMENT!
Yellow Science supply trains are one of my favourite trains 30k light weight, 10k flying frames and 20k blue circuits. That's an expensive train.
Just got this - reminds me very much of MAX, which is one of my favorite games. Loving it
did download the save... scrolled out.... saw how far it goes to the right ^^
Yes it's about an 8 -10 minute train ride to the far right. There is nothing interesting out there just more of the same. Some large Solar patches and more of the mining and smelting at the ore patch. Most of the steel comes from the far right of the map it takes so long to produce 400k Steel that the train may as well be traveling longer. If I go even further right I will need to start refuelling the trains at some mid point.
Where can you download this save? I'd love to take a look at this

@@Nahuectl www.dropbox.com/s/jufxgx29tyfz7wk/ServerSave.zip?dl=0 This is the actual save in the video. Obviously the game has progressed since then but with only minor changes to the rail network and a couple new solar patches.
Thank you both! I didn't see Scott's comment at first
By the end of this video there were 168 rockets launched
I love that stat never thought of that. It's now over 3.6 Million.
That was insane.
No kidding! Im still a bit in shock lol
13,675 hours is crazy to me, that's 570 days, or a little over 1½ years.
I couldn't imagine leaving the game running for that kind of time.
Ohh you don't want to know my play time for Factorio now then. I've had 2 years of lockdown since that video was made.
@@scottbarbary5112 please share an update somewhere and let me know about it! Thanks!
@@Alex-bl8uh Well Unfortunately the map is dead. In the end I had launched just over 5 Million Rockets and had Mining Prod of over 16000%. However it turns out that factorio has a technical limit to how long a Map can last which is 4 Billion ticks of UPS. There is a work around however you lose all your stats and there are some problems, so I decided to take a break from the map and play a new map. I'm waiting for the expansion and then I may start a new map.

They are for the most part very small. Just covering the mining patch. The main production area has a large one top and bottom just to deliver train fuel.
Rookie numbers! Only a trillion space science a second??? lol
Your right. I will try to do better in the future.
There are 86400 seconds in a day btw if that helps comprehend rocket launches 8:20
Maybe there don’t need to be new video games anymore. I’ll just play Factorio forever...
Factorio has ruined me, I look at games on steam and think "will I get more than 500 hours of fun out of this and then don't buy it.(or I buy it and then never get round to playing it)" In the last about 4 years I have played Factorio and a few hundred hours of Planetside2 and that's it. Just recently I bought DSP and I have played that a fair bit.
13k hours? i have 2.5k hours on terraria and thats my most played game, I can't imagine playing one game for 13k hours let alone just one playthrough
oh okay most of it was AFK.
13000 hours = 541 days
@@scp-scp--ev8eh over a year still wtf
@@polygondeath2361 Agree
That would be 541 days straight dudddeeee that's like close to 1 and a half year straight. And there is like no way that he could do that straight so like how many damn years was this dude or is this dude working on this...
Well as stated in the video, he started in 0.15, which was over 2 and a half years ago...
How do the solar panels work with all those satellites blocking out the sun?
I have always imagined that the satellites actually orbit other planets and send back science. Which we then bottle ????
Dude built real life in Factorio
And here I thought I was doing pretty good on my 450hr Factorio save. I am such a fool.
You are I just had a lot of time on my hands.
I guessed 1.3 million rockets launched and was still way off, thats insane
By the time I shut the server down it was 5 million.
It's so massive there will be oversight or simply you didn't have speed modules on you when you placed them and why return when they are already churning out ore. On second thought them belts are already completely maxed I'm sure speed won't help either lol. Thanks.
bruh this base is so big that my pc cant handle the video taken from it
Yeah it's insane how big this base is!
Huh, so all those fictional concepts in movies, books, etc, of a factory planet could indeed become true. Maybe somewhere out there our universe holds civilizations that have accomplished this. The interstellar Walmarts just receive shipments from these planets for anything that is needed. 😋
i hope that doesnt happen to earth, would be really lame. we should instead use mars as our 'factory planet'. we just have to be patient until we unlock cheap space transportation, lol

@@Sowells oh you have no idea how much upsetting would bob's recipes bring... >:-]
@@irrelevant_noob Thought so, that's why I left it vanilla and it runs great :)
I think it would be impossible, because the base size will be so massive, that no computer could run at a playable FPS

Ahaha they really do...
omg! 2m+ rockets!
this is how the combine homeworld looks on half life lmao
