Excellent!
dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are stoned like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on Instaflixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last few weeks =)
@Cannon Gavin Definitely, I've been watching on Instaflixxer for months myself :)
Thank you great video
Glad it was helpful!
it is really helpful
thanks !
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for this tutorial!!
I subscribed 👍
Awesome, thank you!
You have a very pleasant voice and I appreciate that you talk at a normal, easy to follow speed. I got Boris FX standalone with Sony Vegas Pro 18 .
I think you tutorial is good, however, I'd require even more basic introduction as actually have no idea what to do with it. For instance, once I make an effect with this program what happens next?
Keep watching the series and it will all start to come together for you :)

The simple answer is, you will render out of the Standalone and bring that back into Vegas to use in your final project. We cover rendering in a later video.
@@BorisFXco Thanks, yes you are right.
I'm just now starting to watch this and I was asking myself the same question. Now I'll have to watch more videos and my question will be answered.
Great video! I'm having a problem rendering to video it says no element is in queue.
Can you try rendering to ProRes? Does that work? If not, please post in the Particle Illusion forums so the development team can see it : forum.borisfx.com
Its fun to play with emitters
Muy bien , pero tienen que actualizarse el INTERFACE es antiguo y confunde por que es distinto de lo que sale en el video
You're right. The interface on these starting videos is old now. We do have another video that shows the differences here : ua-cam.com/video/4pFHytdDBe4/v-deo.html We should do a brand new Getting Started with the new interface.
Hi, why I do not have the animation line, like it's on your tutorial. When I move the particle into a new position, I do not have it. I used to in PI 3, by GenArts. Thanks.
First thing to do would be to check that the HUD is turned on in the viewer. If you look at the row of buttons above the Stage, HUD is between M-Blur and the Translate Mode arrows.
If it's not that, please join us on the forums with a screenshot of how your UI is looking. forum.borisfx.com/
bought this when wondertouch owned it, can you still import a background or avi movie to composite with effects? thanks
If you run Particle Illusion as a plug-in, then you can see and track with the background. If you are in the standalone version, there is a preset that allows you to composite on a solid color or import an image to use. Using particles on top of an image is much easier with the plug-in though.
In terms of changing particle shape and importing your own image, if you want the particles to be shaped around a ‘mask’ or png image, what are the settings I need. It keeps deforming the size of the particles
Make sure that the image is square. Depending on how big those particles need to be, we recommend 32 x 32px, 64 x 64px, 128 x 128px or 256 x 256px. Use a png with alpha at one of those resolutions and you should be fine.
@@BorisFXco thank you for your help!!! Gonna give it a try today!
great software but I have a huge problem. How can I adjust the speed of the emitters. "Velocity" has no effect at all. How can I slowdown things like ray and fog spreads?
You probably just need to increase the life of the particles/emitter. Many of the parameters work together to create the final effect, so sometimes you may have to adjust a couple to get the effect you need. Life is always a good place to start. Check out the emitter preset "Seeds and Clouds" for a good example of slow moving dust (well, seeds but you'll see the point)
2:24 Exactly! 🤣
💯
I couldnt find any tutorial to it or anyone explaining how to use it and idk where to ask... How can I use Image Effects? Idk where to import a picture or how to use it correctly ^^" please correct me if there is a how to to that... Also I had the issue when I moved a Particle line to the right that no matter what I did it moved back to left... like when I just went to another frame in the timeline the keyframed position started to move to the left without me doing anything to it.. is this a bug or do I something wrong there too? XD
The Image Effects work when you apply Particle Illusion as a plugin to an image. I don't believe they will do anything in Particle Illusion Standalone as they require input from a layer to work correctly. The other one may just be as simple as a hidden keyframe somewhere. To get around that simply set the keyframe type to Constant. Boom, no more unexpected moves.
@@BorisFXco Okay thanks I will try that next time ^^
@@BorisFXco Doesnt work unfortunaly cause I need to move the emitter to the right but when I do that it moves itself to the left... for example I set the position at frame 74 to -112.8 -182.7.. its saved... I edit something on ANOTHER emitter without touching the first emitter... (For sure) and not at that frame... the position changed itself to -83.3 -182.7 at frame 74... Its unuseable like that .-. I only have that issue when I use the Line Shape... This also happens if I just scroll through frames that it moves to the left... and if I have no other emitter so the second emitter can't be the issue
I have the 2021 version which is very different, so this is more frustrating than useful for me. Just something as simple as moving Emitters must have completley changed, there's not even a crosshair in my version.
You might want to start with the video about the UI changes : ua-cam.com/video/4pFHytdDBe4/v-deo.html But to help you with the crosshair, make sure you have the HUD button turned on at the top of the viewer. Hope that helps.
@@BorisFXco Very useful thank you - crosshair now present.
I downloaded the standalone version for Windows 7 Pro and can't barely use the menu. It opens for half a second flashing. Using the program without the menu up left works fine and rendering is possible. Can someone tell what the reason can be and how to remediate it? Windows 7 Pro with 16GB ram and Nvidia GeForce 900 series. Seems like a wonderful program but am I using it at full capacity? Thanks.
Hi, you might have stumbled across a Windows issue. Hit Win-S, and search for Advanced System Properties. Under Performance, hit the Settings button. Turn off "Fade or Slide menus into view" and "Fade or slide ToolTips into view". If that works, let me know here. If it doesn't please post this in the forums (forum.borisfx.com). You'll get better technical help there.
Hello Boris FX thanks for amazing software.
But after update 2021 I can not animate the particles
It is not showing the option of Auto key please help.
Hit Ctrl-2 / Cmd-2 to take you to the Edit layout. The Auto Key is now text in 2021 rather than a key icon. Underneath the viewer on the bottom left, you will see it and can toggle it on/off by clicking. Hope that helps.
@@BorisFXco Thank you so much
I use Vegas Pro 18 to edit my videos. I now use particle illusion 2021 plugin in my vegas. Why is there a big red X mark across the preview window of my video being edited when i select a boris effect? my license is activated.
Please contact Support and they will help you out : borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/
@@BorisFXco Thank you, i have done that and am awaiting response. I heard about the great support provided by the Boris FX team.
i just want know that this plugin can run in atfer effct 20 19 ?
Yes, you'll be fine.
You can always find out the latest answers here : borisfx.com/host-compatibility/?&platform=All%20Operating%20Systems&product=All%20Products&host=All%20Hosts
Or take a look at the release notes for exact versions tested.
Deflectors and forces aren't working the same way they are for you.
When I click on them, they're automatically added to the stage (as opposed to clicking on it then somewhere in the stage). It also just isn't working, like deflector's not deflecting anything and same goes for force.
Deflectors changed a bit with the last version. They are auto-added to the stage and if you want to add more points you have to alt-/opt- click on the line. If you're working in 3D, remember check what's happening in the other views, so change your viewer to Top view too, to see if you're catching the particles. Set to Bounce value temporarily to O to check if you're catching any particles.
I can't change the project settings stage size, it's greyed out. I made the stage too small and want to increase the size of the borders
I'm assuming you're using the plugin version. The project size is based on the clip you apply it to. Come out of Particle Illusion, and apply it to a larger clip. Usually this is a case of making the solid you applied it to bigger.
The Project Settings control the stage size in Particle Illusion Standalone.
Hope that helps. If you're still having problems please join us on the Boris FX forums : forum.borisfx.com
Hello, i cannot find DNA trail in 2021. As a matter of fact i can only see a handful of particles in 2021. Id there a fix?
Have you downloaded the other emitters? borisfx.com/downloads/?&product=Boris%20Particle%20Illusion%20Particle%20Emitters
how to insert it in the video with transparent background
If you are using the plugin version, you can use the Alpha+Apply Mode in the Composite section in your host. If you are rendering from the standalone, render out to Apple ProRes 4444. There is a preset that renders out with alpha. H264 doesn't support alpha, which is why you'll have to use Quicktime ProRes.
how do I use this within Davinci Resolve 17/18?
Just apply it to a clip that has some time length to it, like a video clip or an adjustment layer. If you want to apply it to a Solid Color generator, you will have to right-click the clip on the timeline and turn it into a Compound Clip. Hope that helps.
now there should be a key icon under the particle illusion image but there is no way to reveal it
The key icon was changed to a diamond with a plus shape inside. It's positioned in the same place under the viewer.
I can only see 110 particles in 2021 version. Where are the rest?

Wondertouch made this software long time ago. Or maybe it was even stolen from Discreets Combustion?
Of course Wondertouch created PI years ago. It was acquired by Boris FX with the GenArts merger. Alan Lorrence, the original founder and developer, runs the PI team now for BorisFX.
Thank you! Very cool!
Thank you too! Hope you enjoy using PI.
