  • Super Emitters in Particle Illusion enable you to take your particle simulations to the next level of style and complexity and can be confusing at first. In this tutorial follow along with John Dickinson as he demystifyies Super Emitters and demonstrates how to create a custom Super Emitter using a basic emitter preset as a starting point.

Well done. I've learned so much here. I'm excited to get started on my own super emitter. Thumbs up.

How can I adjust the speed of the emitters at all??? Like very slow and smooth, dust, sparkles or particles...i have tried everything, but "Velocity" has no effect at all or does the wrong think.

You probably just need to increase the life of the particles/emitter. Many of the parameters work together to create the final effect, so sometimes you may have to adjust a couple to get the effect you need. Life is always a good place to start. Check out the emitter preset "Seeds and Clouds" for a good example of slow moving dust (well, seeds but you'll see the point)

@@BorisFXco Much Thanks for the quick reply and I tried it right away. Unfortunately without an acceptable result. Of course I can twist the emitters with all possible parameters so that everything becomes slower. But then it is no longer close to what I had in mind in terms of shape, appearance and behavior. Actually, it only becomes jerky and even pixelated (if there is too much "size" for instance). There are thousands of beautiful presets that you only have to adjust in tempo. Each one has hundreds of parameters, why isn't there just a slider for "speed"? For example in the "Force" segment! I have created a video to illustrate this:

The result on the right side is visually similar to my imagination. However, the method is not a real alternative as it takes extremely long calculation time, creates many artifacts and loses alpha. Maybe there is a "Main-Speed" controller in a later version ;).
      Thanks for your time

It looks like my previous reply got deleted, sorry about that!
This is a game of balance. To get the flames looking slower you have to do a few things to balance the scales.
Particle Life goes up. Number of particles goes down.
Here's the important one... *Size over Life* : In this curve, bring the large value down, to make a shallower curve. This means the particles grow slower over time. To balance this, you may need to bring the particle's main scale up a little. Otherwise you can end up with very small particles.
Be very careful to be doing this in the *particle parameters* not the Super Emitter parameters. If it says f_scale then you're in the wrong place and just have to open up the parameters further down.
If you are getting pixelated particles, change the emitter shape to a higher resolution one. I think you see this here : ua-cam.com/video/b7OPaMQagsc/v-deo.html

I've had multiple times where I finished the example, tried to save it to the library and... it crashed

Can you get in touch with Support and send the crash log? That's definitely unusual behavior. borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/

@@BorisFXco why question marks?? I bought 2 versions of Vegas, Vegas 16 suite and Vegas 19 both have plug ins from your company but absolutely refuse make yet another account , where you need way to many details to just activate a product with a serial key, accounts should be optional .

Question marks came because you genuinely gave zero context to your comment. You need a(ny) name and an(y) email address to register a new account so that the serial number can be tied to it in case of support queries and if you ever want to upgrade the software in the future. If you find that too onerous then I don't know what to say. Sorry.
