  • Idle Air Control Adjuster: lmr.com/item/L...
This 5.0 Resto Idle Air Control Adjuster will put you one step closer to solving your idle problems! It is a must for EFI V8 Mustangs! This thin, adjustable aluminum plate fits between the throttle body and the idle air control motor. It allows you to adjust the flow of air in and out of the idle air control motor for better control of your Mustang’s idle speed.
This plate was originally engineered by Ford to combat carbon buildup in the throttle body that restricted airflow and created low idle concerns. This plate allows MORE air in to maintain a steady idle. The hot rod community quickly picked up on this part to help stabilize and achieve idle control on cars with camshafts, larger displacement engines, etc.
    Fitment: 1986-1993 Mustang w/ EFI V8

I fought high idle issues until someone told me about this adjuster. Took a couple of rounds to do it correctly, but it worked like a charm. This is on an 86 Explorer motor, with 90 Mustang EFI, in a 72 Ford Bronco. Worth the money for me!

Im glad you got your issue fixed,i have a 347 that i wanna do this too, i dont wanna go that "tune" route, the car runs great and once you stop the idle is solid but a few seconds later it starts wondering all over the place till the car dies,if you drop it in neutral then its fine till you reach the next stoplight and then it begins all over again.
Every single thing has been checked and rechecked including a totally rebuild pcm and the engine has been smoked several times, distributor is new, sensors are new OEM Ford, this little gizmo is my last resort,i should be getting it in the next few days.

I recommend using studs as I did instead of bolts that you will strip.

@Mark Tse Yep. Snug it up and let the gasket do what it is supposed to do.

This also the same engine and fuel injection system used on the 1986-1992 Lincoln Mark Vii's. from 1988 on up they were the 5.0 Hi Output.

You know there's a process to reset the idle air control valve and have the ECM re learn after gasket change or w/e first plug back in the elec iac connection then Start the engine and allow it to idle for two minutes. Raise the engine rpm up 2000 for one minute and allow the engine to idle.
Put the car in gear at an idle and allow it to idle in gear for five minutes until the computer sets all the parameters again.

I now this is a older comment, just wanted to say,a lot of people use this because they have either a large cam or a bigger motor on a Mustang (347/351) and the idle reset will not do anything for that, the idle reset procedure works great in some instances and i highly recommend it but some other times only this thing will do@@WolfPackProductions1320
On instances with bigger cams i have heard great results going this route, that idle fluctuating can drive a person to drink quickly,as a owner of 2 of these cars Ive experience it firsthand and Ive been working on cars since i was a teen many decades ago.,lol

Designed for the small block v8s but I'd think this would also work on a '96 3.8L v6 with a split port swap.

Not sure it's a good buy. It's more like a band-aid. If your throttle body is clogged just clean it. Seafoam it if needed.

...were you even listening? This device allows you to increase or decrease engine idle. If you stroke or bore this engine you will need to adjust idle air. If you change to performance cam shafts, you will need to adjust engine idle... That’s the purpose of this device. Watch the entire video _before_ commenting.

What are the advantages of adding this device to my 91 5.0?

    • @dntlss
      @dntlss 11 місяців тому

This device is for people that have idle fluctuations in their cars and have not been solved by any conventional means, when you are stopped and you car is running, look at your tach needle,(the big needle on the left of the cluster), if its going up and down, up and down, constantly and you have already checked for vacuum leaks and your car has had a proper tune up and you have done a base idle reset and you still cant get rid of the fluctuation then you might need this.
This is not a performance part like a supercharger or better heads or rear end gears, just a device to fix your idle.

  • @jakew2350

Will this solve my issue. I have a 347 stroker with hci and I have it tuned up well but when I give it gas and rev it, my rpm will hang at 1000 or so for a few seconds then drop. If adjust my throttle blade position so the idle rpm is lower it fixes this problem but then when I put the car in drive it wants to die because the rpm is too low for the cam. If I could adjust the idle rpm up with the plate and then close the throttle blade a little I think my problem would be fixed
