I have never done my own tire changes. I have my shop do it. I have pulled the rear wheel to replace the axil. I will add a talk about this to a future video.
A few things come to mind John. I love that you emphasized using the correct product for the polycarbonate windscreen, I'm sure many people would not have known this. But . . . I was surprised that you didn't mention to first rinse off the dirt with plain old water. I believe your body panels and especially the windscreen, will develop small scratches from mechanically rubbing the dirt off with a spray-on cleaner. I applaud your method of securing your cell phone, the mount looks very practical and secure. Regarding the rear tire, it sounds like Can Am chose to use a "Sticky" tire which will provide maximum traction, at the cost of tread longevity. I was shocked when my Michelin rear tires only lasted 20,000 miles on my Mercedes SLK 350 Roadster :O. I was initially told by the tire store that I had an alignment issue which proved to be false, I had it checked for free at the dealer. As it turns out Mercedes incorporates quite a bit of "Negative" camber in the rear tires on these roadsters, so your car quite literally rides on the inside of the tire when driving in a straight direction but . . . when cornering, the centrifugal force placed upon the vehicle, flattens out the tire to provide maximum traction, truly a slalom type set up. When you look at the car from the rear, you can easily spot how the top of the wheels appear to be canted inward, hence the negative camber. So why the long explanation about my car, only to prove a point that to achieve a far above average level of performance, usually will come at a cost to ones wallet. I think you are wise to stick with the "Sticky" recommended tire, it very well may save your and Miriam's life. Great video as always John.
I am watching this video while the F 22s of Langley and the training aggressor aircraft fleet are taking off to play off the coast of Virginia. I live between Langley and Patrick Henry Airport.
I'm with you on riding in shorts and t shirts,I had a motorcycle accident at 16 and slid on pavement for 15 feet, my arm was toast and the healing process was horrible. Great information on the tires. I'm with you on that also. I am surprised you don't park your Spyder on a piece of carpet.
Sensible decision to stick to the Kendra tyre. I am also going to. I also would suggest that if someone had an accident on a Spyder with a car rear tyre, they could possibly be not covered by the insurance company. In Britain, the police often check tyre pressures of cars in accidents.
Yes, I know im constantly using aviation references. but in flying we have a thing called an "Airman's Information Manuel" , One is not obligated to follow the recommended procedures, but lord help you if you are in an accident and failed to follow the "industry standard" recommended procedures.
Car tires work well. Kumho ecsta on rear. 300miles to scrub em. I go through a rear tire 8,000>10,000 tops. Can am won't but slingshot dealer will mount, install. Can Am says " Car tires won't show side wall cracks" Large deal? I think not. You have a 3yr. tire. I also drank the kool aid got new improved kenda. Loser 10,000 back for another, not me. Kumho works well no nanny problems. Sorry Can Am as good as your BRP connect.
that is kind of a frustrating issue. I had planned to get a stand from Spyder accessories and stand it up in the rear of my garage. But the stand will not work on the 2019. so it sets in the driveway in front of my garage.
You should look into some type of cover before winter and also try to get the tires off of the ground. But I'm sure that you are already working on it. 😁
When we bought our Spyder the previous owner had installed a new automotive tire on the back. So far it has performed admirably but I still think I will switch back to a Spyder specific tire once it wears down
Hi John. Greatrydes did a video on his fitment of a "car tire" on his F3. I believe he has had pretty good success with the installation and with over 60 thousand miles on his machine, I think his information is not to be overlooked. Nice Video.
First I love your videos, question I have installed a after market trailer hitch and the parts mounting the the frame gets loose and bends then you can grab the hitch and move it up and down. Are there a big difference between the more costly ones?
That does not sound good. If you can move it, what will a 400 lb trailer do? I got mine from "Canamspyderaccessories.com" Pierre (the owner) even called me to see if I was happy... Solid as a rock, 5K miles on it, no issues.. I got his and his wire harness because he had a step by step youtube video. $470 with the harness.
I can relate to using Armour-all on seating. You slip and slide everywhere and every which way possible. A light wipe with a damp cotton cloth is the simplest and most safety effective. Happy trail to you both
I now what you mean, when I was younger I used to armour-all the passenger side seat and watch my passengers slide all over while I was firmly seated in the driver's seat. Soo much fun!
Curious - Do you still find it beneficial to have a Garmin mounted on your handlebars? Wondering if you thought about using the GPS mount to mount the phone, and use your phone's GPS?
I have been using REJEX on all my poly windscreens, (Spyders-Bergman-Golf Carts-boats). This product was developed for the Air Force's Fighter Jets Canopies. It will keep your poly screens clear as new. Use it often, the more the better.
Hi John, I have been a subscriber to your channel for over 2yrs now...i bought a New 2018 CanAm Spyder RT limited SE6 in the color Asphalt Grey ( Dark Edition)..from my canAm dealer March 2019. I LOVE IT. I took the CanAm riding course a year before I started looking for a Spyder. I also watch Pierre's channel the CanAm Accessory channel. I was wondering about your thoughts on the Hitch you bought and installed from Pierre's shop? How is it holding up so far...and are u happy with it? I would like to purchase the same hitch because it is lower in price than the one that BRP sells. Respectfully, Brandyeee from Maine
Good Morning from Tucson, AZ. I've been following you for a while and you have inspired me to get out and beat the road, so when my last son graduated this year my wife and I are doing it. I have a 2017 RT Unlimited Asphalt Grey the same as yours, thank you for making it look good. My question to you is what size ball are you using for your trailer hitch? Thank both of you for what you are doing for marry couples spending time and having fun with each other.
I have an '18 RT blackout in champagne and find I need nothing but a non-abrasive scrub pad and water to clean virtually everything on my Spyder. Scrub pad/damp lint-free cloth/dry, lint-free polishing cloth. I was going to call you on the Rain-ex until you corrected that to the poly-carb product. Frankly, though, I haven't really noticed that it works all that well. The Plexus works very well, and on your helmet screen, too, BUT... only on the outside. I, like you, spent a lot of time on tire research and ended up replacing my Kendra with a Kendra. I had 13K on the original tire and probably had a couple-three more on it. The examples I saw of worn-out Kendras were all worn out in the middle, telling me (old man. many tire miles) that tire inflation is an issue. I'm just going to spend more time making sure I'm inflated properly and reserve my personal judgement until these wear out. Great video, keep up the good work and... be safe!
Kenda, not Kendra. I think there is plenty of evidence to go to automotive on front and back, plus they are less costly per tire, but everyone should do what they are comfortable with.
Right on car tires is a much better built as well. I have a 2015 rt and those stock tires are trash don't last hell it a 3 wheel trike not a sport bike......
STOP using amour all. It is so bad for your bike. 303 protectant is much better. Studies have shown that dashboards that are never treated are actually better off than if they were treated and stopped. Really bad stuff.
Good morning! Have a great day my friends. This may be a silly question but as I have learn in life, if you don't ask questions, you are depriving your self of knowledge. Does the Spyder have "Reverse" lights?

Wonderful video John. Thank you sir.
Very informative. Thank you
Thanks John!😃
Great information! Thank you!
Good idea on the smart phone Ram mount, thanks for the tip.
Can you have a video on how to change the back tire on a Can-Am spider?
I have never done my own tire changes. I have my shop do it. I have pulled the rear wheel to replace the axil. I will add a talk about this to a future video.
If able in future videos, could you list items used in video in description of video...thanks...great videos
Such as the products? You betcha...

Novus 1 works great for cleaning windshields and so much less expensive. Been using it for 6 years and windshield still look perfect.
Thank you Jim

I fully agree with you on your take on our tires:)
What was your first cleaning product in this video
Hay David, Its ICE Premium Car Car, by Turtle wax. Also I have stopped using "Armor All". Research has shown that prolonged use will damage plastic.
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog Thanks I have been enjoying your video blogsI appreciate the work that you do to make those happen.

Hey John, can you show us how and where you store your trailer? Is it in the back of your garage or out on the back porch? 😁

May want to invest in the retainer strap for the ram mount. I had my phone come out on a rough area of interstate one day.
Already did a partial in case the mount came out of the clamp. But good idea for the phone also.

It’s called “galvanic corrosion” when you put two dissimilar metals together and one becomes sacrificial to the other causing a corrosive reaction.
