What a great interview and great dealer. If I was in that state and ready for one, I’d definitely buy from this dealership. Thanks for the information!
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. As all your videos it’s fun, informative and chock a block full of really useful information! You’re the best thing on UA-cam for me and I’ve shared your videos with several friends my age (63) who are getting into Spyders and they all agree, when it comes to buying and owning a Spyder your videos are always the perfect guide. God bless you guys with many joyful rides! Thanks again.
Thank you I'm going too purchase my Spyder out of state today 8/27..I'm trying from Memphis TN to O'FALLON Illinois...thanks for this video..now I have plenty of questions too ask and deals especially I'm a out of state purchase..thanks so much..I hv a lot too think about before signing my check over..
Hey John I was watching you tube and found your videos and have been watching most of them. Been on 2 wheels for over 40 years Harley guy. The wife and I have had many long trips with our bikes , but this year the old body has been hurting and my new Harley has been sitting in the garage which has us both sad that we haven't been out riding. Your videos has helped us to my a decision to try a new spyder seen many on the roads during our trips but never gave it a thought. I have got to a point that I just dont want to take a change with the wife on the back and not be able to have full control like I use to. So I have given a way my 1000's of Harley T-shirts and Im not looking back. Wife said thanks John for making the hard headed old man look at different options. We are looking forward to being back on the road. Thank you
Hey George and John, Seamus here. George, I'm basically at the same point. I currently have a Triumph Thunderbird LT, bought it new in '14. I love the bike but had two close calls last year that shook me up enough to realize that it's time to go a different way. After 32 years in the Air Force, riding every imaginable bike in stations around the world, it's difficult to let go. Funny thing is, three years ago I bought my wife a Spyder RT... in 23015 I bought a Polaris Slingshot. So I'm familiar with the Spyders as I have driven her bike. So I am saying farewell to the TBird and this year will be saying hello to a Spyder F3-T. It's good to find someone with the same mindset George, and John...you're videos have added to my decision and anticipation of my future with Spyders, so thanks. Seamus
Great vlog. Good to listen to a passionate Spyder dealer who take an interest in his clients needs in order to fit the Spyder to the client, and they offer test rides which ramps up the client's want to buy. Well done Dave Hanson of All Out Cycles.👍
Great information! Even though I’m seeing your video 5yrs later, it still helps as I’m looking to buy either a new 2023 or 2024 Spyder RT or Spyder F3S.
Thank you for this video, I'm doing a lot of research and your videos are giving me the information I need to purchase properly. Also the fact that your in the same area helps tremendously.
Hi awesome video and tips I want to thank you for making and sharing this important video to buy ! You help me greatly understanding the procedure! I am a long time rider on motorcycle since I was 16 still riding but time to make that transition to 3 wheel Cam am trikes don’t interest me. 68 years young but love riding that my intentions . Thanks for taking the time to present your views and insights. I've spent almost 4 hrs. today viewing Can -AM Spyder info and I must say I've absolutely enjoyed your presentations. Great Job.. It sure helped me in my thought process and accelerated my anticipation of making the right decision on which machine to park in my garage. Many Thankzzz and HAPPY TRAILS!!
Awesome customer service with this dealership…you should spread the word to other dealers…I would buy from you just from what You offer your customers…teach them in the PNW the same values…keep up the great service you offer.
Thanks for the info. Very smart of this dealership owner to recognize the opportunity to speak to your audience. I would probably buy from him if I lived in the area, but we are in Fort Lauderdale.
hello, a very interesting interview for those who have in mind to buy a can-am soon and the seller seemed a very competent and honest person, thanks as always for helping us to know more the spyder, greetings to the two 😊☘️
Hi John and Miriam this was so helpful. My wife Janet and I have taken the decision to downsize from a BMW K1200 LTE and a 650 Suzuki Burgman with the view to buying the RT Limited. As we live in New Zealand we have limited Dealerships and your videos have been very helpful. To be able to sit at home in the beautiful city of Nelson at the top of the South Island and do our due diligence via you videos is awesome. I’m looking forward to test riding an RTL this week. Kind regards and many thanks Joel and Janet Smith
I live in NH, I would buy from him and travel down for the free oil change for life! Or I challenge a CanAm dealer in my state to match his policies. Great interview, sounds like an honest dealer that wants to earn your trust and business, nice job.
WOW! that is an excellent dealership. here in Puerto Rico US territory Evin motors in San Juan does not give you anything except for the day you purchase, you are allowed to buy any extras tax-free and only offer a one-year warranty and that's it. after that, you buy or pay regular prices for all services or accessories. no 10% or nothing.
I purchased one of those school demos yesterday. It had a 100 miles on it and I got a great deal. It is exactly what I wanted and they treated me great. F3S Blue & Black SE6 Oh by the way, I am 72 years old. Oh I forgot, I bought mine from All Out Cycles in Chesapeake.
I am doing my research on a Spyder now, and I have to say...this video was extremely informative and pushed me forward in my thoughts of buying a Spyder. Thanks to you and Allout Sports for the vid.... 😁👍🏾
I've learned from personal experience that the best price is not necessarily a good deal. All the 'other' decision factors this dealer pointed to are sooooo important. And not mentioned, but soooo important is the dealer's reputation. Before buying a bike I always talk with people I know who have dealt with that dealer. If they don't give that dealer a platinum review, I move on. (To be clear, I know that some folks damn a dealer for things the dealer can't control, and I factor those things out of the feedback of course).
just bought one today, looking forward to picking it up Monday & getting out on the road. always wanted one from the first time i saw one, here I am 11 years later buying one for cash
Thinking about 1 of these. Subbed don’t like buying anything at MSRP cause they drop in value dramatically after they roll off the floor just like cars and motorcycles. I sold high end luxury cars for almost 20 years. Never sold at MSRP and I got a very high CSI rating every year cause I wasn’t the usual car sales experience most customers were use to. The dealers I worked for also had a great customer reputation. We were a luxury store and treated our customers like family. I was very lucky to work for some great people over the years. I’m retired from the business now, but miss my old customers and my old employers. Still visit my old store and bosses. Have a great relationship with them and miss it a lot. Just don’t miss working all the crazy hours and every weekend!!
Creative interview, good job. More Q&A about the service, being aware of service is only as good as the dealer. Service on the Spyder is not something most can do, so reliance on the dealer after care is most important. We all have heard the horror stories where service has been a huge problem on Spyders.
John & Miriam's Travel Vlog Yes, please do a video on after the purchase follow up care: the pros and cons. Loved this video. I took my class this past weekend. I don’t plan on buying before the end of January.
John one of the things that should be discussed on purchasing a spyder is after care. Dealer network support and down time both for regular service and warranty repairs. I know one poor guy who waited two weeks for a radiator cap. I live in Houston tx and one of the major spyder dealers told me it is a two turn around time for a regular service. Anyway thanks for a great video
Yeah support your local dealership even though many of them will charge you $1,000's of dollars over other neighboring dealer's with better prices. Bottom line is you go where you can get the best deal.
Hey how about a comment on how things are going with the Spyder after all this time? Maybe some pictures from your trips, or updates about mechanical maintenance? Just curious about how your Spyder journey is going.
John, I am hoping for a little advice. I have enjoyed many of your videos. My wife and I are thinking of moving from our BMW LT to a Spyder. We are presently looking at a 2015 RT-S and a 2018 RT Limited Chrome. Both are in very good condition. Of course the prices are significantly different. Are there enough important improvements in the 2018 to warrant the higher price? From what I can tell, the drive train and suspension are pretty much the same. The biggest changes seem to be in the electronics. If that’s so how big a deal is it? Hope you can help, we have been agonizing over this purchase too long. Thank you.
As with any vehicle, the age of the unit and its mileage tend to effect price. Also some considerations is distance from home and total options. Sad that there is no perfect formula
I'm easy to please, just have a new RT Limited SE6 and ready to go with a full 5 year factory warranty(o deductible), and full services included for the first 10,000miles.... Oh, I have one already, thank you...
John, How to buy a Can-Am Spyder is excellent video. I do have a question. In future UA-cam videos would you respond to my questions. What about riding or driving the Spyder? How long could you sit and ride? How many miles have you ridden your Spyder on one round trip and please share feedback?
Hay Joe, How long can you sit and ride? That depends on the individual, for me (age 63) I shoot for an average of 250 mile day. Some times I will do up to 350 in one day, but that would be my limit. Last June I did a 28 day, 4000+ ride out to NM and CO. I have put about 14,000 on my Spyder so far. I will also address that in an upcoming video, but wanted to get a reply out to you... Take care.
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog Thanks for the response John your information was very helpful. I'm 66 and a former 2 wheel motorcycle owner many years ago. I am researching Can-Am v Honda, used versus new. Kind regards, Joe
Great video I will be there to purchase mind I'm a first time rider but will be riding with my boys all have motorcycle mommy looking for a Ryker or an F3s next month need to take road test first have temporary license
Because of the design if you do not have a key the only way to steal at this with a forklift. Unlike other motorcycles that you simply roll up to the back of a truck and take off. Not going to do that with the spider
Hello, I've been watching you and Marion take your trips on a Can-Am Spyder. Yours I believe is a 2014. I've also seen some of the new ones for 2021. And I think they're about 23,000 dollars. I'm not sure that I'm going to be able top afford a new one. How do you get information on the older ones. The say 2013 through 2016 , maybe a 2017? Most of what I've seen on the internet and UA-cam is people riding and talking about the bikes they have. How do you gather information for pre-purchase? I used to ride a motorcycle for a short time way back in 1980. As I get older and closer retirement in 5 to 7 years. I'm not sure if I want to be dealing with hand brakes , foot brakes , clutch etc. I'm thinking a spider would be more of what I want to ride. If you could contact me with any information about doing research on them I will greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out what features you have on your bike. I've heard something about an automatic transmission. But some people have said you have to up shift. I don't really understand this. If you could send me back any information. I have a little time before I'm going to be making a purchase. And the other thing do you know if dealerships deal and older used spiders ? Thank you Pat
And that will be a great video, thank you. As to the transmission, Its a thumb shift to go up, No clutch handle, auto shifts coming down . You can also manually down shift by using your index finger to push the thumb shift lever from behind,, Yes, we have the 2014 RT, SE6 (Electronic thumb shift, with 6 speeds) It also is available in SM6 (Manual, clutch and toe shift) all Spyders from 2014 and up have the 1330, 3 cylinder engine. prior to that they had the 990 cc. Yes, dealers often stock used spyders they take on trade-in. I stated on Cycle trader.com.
I thinking of purchasing one. But I have just a few questions. The2020s are really nice. I have seen anyone ask the question of thieves. What is done for that? What safety is there to keep anyone stealing the bike.
@@MWebb-ug3fh Good Question. The Spyder wight is 1000 lbs, that with the parking brake that must be used at all times (or you get this annoying all alarm if not). And the Spyder requires a "transponder" key. Without the key, it simply not going to start. All this does not 100% protection, but it would require a lot of work to take it.
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog thank you for getting back to me but where I live around El Paso Texas and New Mexico everybody tells me it can't be done even the Can-Am dealer says it can't be done
I'm going to use a old NASCAR phrase win on Sunday sell on Monday yeah and it is very similar 2 get your endorsement on Sunday and sell on Monday he made me think of the old NASCAR phrase LOL
I have been there a few times, looking to buy a 2018 RT. My friend could no longer ride so I brought his bike. I was very disappointed in your policies against people that didn't buy their bike from your store. I can't make appointments for service ( walk-ins only) and my 3k service will take 3 days because your customers have head of the line privileges SMH. I am only 5 miles from your store but I took my bike 38.1 miles to the other CAN-AM dealership in NN who gave me an appointment and my 3k service was done that day. I am not the only person that feels this way reading a few local Can-AM FB posting. You really need to change that policy.
Technically its not a "Trike". Trikes have the two wheel in the rear like a tricycle. In aviation an aircraft with two wheels in the front is called "conventional gear" or "tail dragger", whereas an aircraft with two wheels in the rear is called "tricycle gear". As to the question, yes, they do. I think they do not understand the popularity or the utility.
what I mean by that is I have a prosthetic leg I lost my leg above the knee on the right side and I cannot push a brake pedal so I need the rear brakeconvert it either up on the handlebars or to the left side can you do such a conversion
I'm reaaaaaalllllly thinking about getting a Ryker next year. I live in Fairfax county Va, so what are the requirements for me to get a complete M3 license? I know he touched on the training courses. But how do I go from no license to hopping on one of these bad boys legally? Oh and I should add I do have a basic Virginia license and I've never driven a motorcycle. And last question (I promise) any recommended dealers in Northern Virginia? Thanks
Virginia requires a 3 wheel motorcycle licenses. We found our local community collage offered a 2 day training program (Sat & Sun) which was supported by Can Am. Most of the training units are the Spyder, The cost was also underwritten by Can Am only costing Miriam about $75. That way you get some time on the spyder before you buy...
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog okay cool. So I assume I'll still have to take a written test first before I drive on any course? And these driving course would count as taking a driving exam?
They have a final written exam and practical,,, They said in over 7 years only had one that failed..... Once complete they give you your temp licence that day
Dave is a great guy. He's exactly as nice in person as he appears in the video. They are a great dealership.
I bought one in 2016. Never looked back! Love it..

Great video I will be there to purchase mind I'm a first time rider but will be riding with my boys all have motorcycle mommy looking for a Ryker or an F3s next month need to take road test first have temporary license
Outstanding Kathryn,
I'd like to know how to protect one from theft. Insurance for sure, but is there a way to disable it?
Because of the design if you do not have a key the only way to steal at this with a forklift. Unlike other motorcycles that you simply roll up to the back of a truck and take off. Not going to do that with the spider
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog Good to know, thank you!
Thank you so much for this video its been very helpful
Great video and interview. Great questions asked.
Great vid and spider thanks for the post
I like to find a dealership like this one near me in Texas.
Hello,
I've been watching you and Marion take your trips on a Can-Am Spyder.
Love that you want to share what you enjoy. True, more to buying than price. Keep up the good videos :-)
Great video
I thinking of purchasing one. But I have just a few questions. The2020s are really nice. I have seen anyone ask the question of thieves. What is done for that? What safety is there to keep anyone stealing the bike.
Im sorry, I don't think I understand the question.
Like I mentioned. What is done to keep anyone from stealing the bike
John & Miriam's Travel Vlog thank you very much
I'll take the one on his left! Lol I'm waiting on the dealer here. They're all out and say it may be a month or 2 before they get any.
Hi how to buy cam an spyder rt im here in the philippines.
Can you do a conversion on a Can-Am Spyder removing The Break-Up to the handlebars or to the left side
I know one can get one,, just do not know who does them.
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog thank you for getting back to me but where I live around El Paso Texas and New Mexico everybody tells me it can't be done even the Can-Am dealer says it can't be done
@@jefferygore2721 check out ISCI online, they do it, according to their website: www.industrialspecialty.com/ISCI%20-%20Spyder%20Parts.htm
Having a canam, can you use your regular driver License, class C,or you need to get a motorcycle Licence, tnx
It depends on the laws in your state. Google Can am on road license requirements, it has a state by state listing.
Where would be the best dealer in say And 100 mile radius of Atlanta Georgia, any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Hay Jeffrey, Google shows about 15 Can-Am dealers within the Atlanta area. I do not know the reputation of any of them.
Good morning. Where is this store located? Thank you!
All Out Cycles, 108 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake VA, 23320
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog Thank you!
I'm going to use a old NASCAR phrase win on Sunday sell on Monday yeah and it is very similar 2 get your endorsement on Sunday and sell on Monday he made me think of the old NASCAR phrase LOL
Thank you but where is the how to buy the motorcycle
?????
I am just the guy who did the interview. I have no control over the policies.
@@JohnMiriamsTravelVlog I understand John, this is not on you. People should know about things the manager didn't say. :) Great Interview !!!
Yooooo!!!! This is near me.
was wondering, do the 2 wheeled riders shy away from trike riders?
Technically its not a "Trike". Trikes have the two wheel in the rear like a tricycle. In aviation an aircraft with two wheels in the front is called "conventional gear" or "tail dragger", whereas an aircraft with two wheels in the rear is called "tricycle gear". As to the question, yes, they do. I think they do not understand the popularity or the utility.
What a machine🥰
what I mean by that is I have a prosthetic leg I lost my leg above the knee on the right side and I cannot push a brake pedal so I need the rear brakeconvert it either up on the handlebars or to the left side can you do such a conversion
Saw a video on youtube with a paraplegic showing how he operates his spyder with such mods.... take care and good riding..
What does your credit score have to finance one and generally what are the payments like?
Sorry, I do not know, I just applied and got financed at the going rate for Motorcycles. I would check with my bank..
Good video!
Once complete they give you your temp licence that day
My local Ryker dealer wants $1,300 for freight charge. Is this normal?
Shipping charges are normal and very. The question is:Is the "out the door" price acceptable!
they do the alignments there for the ryker?
I bet they do, its a simple process.
~~~ Great Video !!! ~~~
Chesapeake, Virginia?
Yes sir,
