- We've heard your requests for more Kermie Cam's, and we've listened. Here's one Kermie Cam we think you'll really enjoy. The North American P-51D model Mustang. Part 1 has you doing a pre-flight tour with Kermit while he checks out the plane. Part 2 you'll go in the cockpit and get a first hand glimpse of what it is like to sit at the controls and prepare to fly. In part 3 you'll take off and fly... and there's a couple of surprises along the way. Hope you enjoy.

As he climbs into the clouds I just Imagine a flight of b-17's waiting for the "little friends" to arrive - very cool
You made me load war thunder. Must attack b17s with my p15d and tracers now !
When he climbed into the clouds I just imagined him getting stripped off his licence. There are minimum distances you have to keep between you and the clouds when you're flying under VFR. Ignoring such important safety rules is pretty bad piloting...
@@martins.28 What rule did he break there genious?
@@martins.28 YT-know-it-alls
Not your subjective opinion btw
Wake up in the morning, a big yawn, hmmm what will I do today? I guess ill take my P51 out for a spin..... Man, that's gotta be rough.😉
Lol...right?
@Michael Turcott Oil baby, Black gold Texas tea!!!!
@@scotabot7826 But ya still gotta watch out for Ellie Mae lol
He flew it over a prison....That's gotta suck seeing freedom so close.
@@tsungadog7081 Too bad they couldn't hear you with the engine going, i'd yell out the canopy. THIS IS GREAT, I'M HAVING THE TIME OF MY LIFE!
There are not many of us enthusiasts that ever will get the opportunity to fly a genuine ww2 war bird (or other cool vintage aeroplanes either for that matter). Thank you for letting us fly with you. Best regards from Sweden....
Hes the most lucky person alive i tink.

Always an awesome day to be able to ride along with Kermit!!!
Thank you for restoring and flying these incredible pieces of Aviation History. And letting us ride along with you!!!
Gracias, muchas gracias. Fue hermoso. Te vi desde Mendoza, Argentina.
Nothing is cooler than a p51,except for a f14
What a cool bumper sticker for 25 year-old - "My other car is a Mustang P51-D" . I really enjoy watching you with your aircraft!
the sound of the backfires when he cuts the throttle for landing is amazing
This is awesome.. a huge piece of history still alive 70 years later. Makes my heart feel good
The sound of that Packard Merlin is so cool when idling
Ok! my great thanks to this wonderfull flight in one of the most iconic planes of all times.
Also the very walkaround gave me the something to remember. Thanks to the Kermit cam.
Thanks Kermit for the ride, even though I volunteered at POF Chino for 23 yrs, never got ride in P-51D, but got rides in B-25.
Thanks for a good show. I learned a lot. I have never flown. My father flew in WW2 over Belgium in a P-47 Thunderbolt. He wouldn't talk much about his service, so I never knew anything about his experiences flying a war machine and all that is involved; so much to remember. Wow! I am so very proud of my Dad; his name and title are:
2 Lt. Jack M. Collins
510th Fighter Squadron
Thank you for this video
Awesome videos man, P-51D is such a beautiful plane!
way cool. I love how Ketmit walks you through everything. Those of us that would like to fly a Mustang some day appreciate the details. Thx for an awesome share
A hell of a way to check your blackberry garden!
I really admire how you handled the gear situation. You immediately noticed there was a problem, attempted to lower the gear again, made a quick diagnosis based on knowledge and experience, and then developed and executed a plan of action. I wish my wheel landings looked half that good. Very well done!
Walter Morrison should have swapped the bulbs to make sure
My heart was in my mouth when he took off on that narrow runway between the bushes and trees.
Thanks to you and all who keep these birds flying.
My Dad flew P-47s in ETO. When I was a kid, I'd study his flight manuals.
I think secretly, he would have liked a ride or two in later life, but he always said he had flown one too many 'business trips' to be comfortable with it.
None the less, we all appreciated the fact that these birds still fly.
Thanks for your videos and the effort and $$$ it takes to keep these birds aloft.
These birds are part of 'The Greatest Generation'. A chapter in history no one should ever forget.
Giving us viewers the insight from the pilots view is something most of us would never be able to see..... thank you for doing these Kermie cams, you have given us viewers quite a thrill that is unachievable to most.
Watching this gives me enormous respect for those who fought using the P-51's, both the pilots and maintenance crews. For the pilots there had to be a huge amount of training on just operating the plane before they could advance to being able to learn to fighting with it, a whole other skill set. From the cockpit's view it brings more reality to just how harrowing (or invigorating) it could be to fly over the Pacific and then engage the mission. My grandfather was an aviation hydraulics mechanic in the Pacific theatre during WWII. He would not talk about his experiences. It must have been hell doing all that island hoping on the way to Japan.
He must have thought when he passed over that boat in the small lake, 'and you think you're having fun!'
That is loud. I can't imagine flying for hours on that without a headset.
Thank you so much for allowing frustrated pilots to fly with you😃
It’s beating heart....a British designed Rolls Royce engine built under license. Best Anglo-American collaboration ever.
The bird must have a very definite feel for when the gear locks..
Plus the safe / unsafe gear indicator is good for a little confidence..
Good for the boys to look up and see a little Freedom going by isn't it..
Thank you, thank you very much..
I'm just an old sluf jockey, lying in bed watching the clock tick.. but I was up there with you, thank you
Cadilac of the skies ! Beautiful !
I was treated to a flight in a Mustang as a college graduation gift in 1978. Still have the pictures. You can really feel the pull of the prop. So blessed. Years later, also got a ride in a B-52 stationary flight simulator at Barksdale.
I could listen to that engine idling all day
Awesome! Using the radio mic to record your voice during flight is a huge step up for videos that are already great.
Playing with a pony in the clouds, awesome. Keep these videos coming, they are a pure joy.
I've admired the aircraft of WW2 since I was a little boy. I guess I've built more models than I can count but at 59 I've never seen a P51D in person. My Uncle flew combat over Europe in a P47 with 2 and 1/2 aerial kills to his credit. The men who flew those planes have always been my hero's. I was born a generation too late.
As close as I'll get to being inside of a P 51 cockpit. As usual, excellent video Kermit
😎👍
You could play DCS world, there is a non combat version of the P-51d that is free!
The p51 mustang is literally my most favorite plane in the world
My all-time favorite aircraft and thanks to Kermie's Cam, I got to fly in one !!! .... Start to finish, just fantastic ! TYVM !!!
Man hearing that sweet whistle from the guns as he comes in for his landing, nothing get's better than that.
Can't get enough of Kermie Cam! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for patiently filming P-51 stuff. A lot of people crave for the inside workings of a P-51 and now there is one. Thanks for the priviledge and experience of going thru all that. Yes!!!
Fantastic!! Thank You for taking the time to demo this! Wonderful.
Jim

Very cool Sir!! Thank you for sharing your toys with us all
You, sir, have won at life. I tip my hat to you in the sincerest possible way.
I was driving on I-4 in Florida a couple years ago when a P-51D took off from Fantasy of Flight and buzzed right over the highway. Truly mesmerizing, until I had to pay attention to stay on the road.
Thanks for the instruction walk around and flight Kermie, that was a good one.
Thanks for the inside view. One of my favorite warbirds.
Just magnificent Kermit. I admire your willingness to keep these beautiful aircraft in the air. These videos are priceless.
Very cool Kermit. Thanks for taking us along.

Always entertaining Kermit. We all live vicariously through you. Thanks for showing us the ins and outs of all the aircraft that inhabit our dreams.
Thanks for the ride on "The Kermie Cam" great vid! Thanks!!
I was planning on building a 1/32 scale model of a P-51D and showing it weathered and used, but after watching this series, I've changed my mind. I'm going to try my best to recreate this beautiful craft as you have it. Thank you so much for going over each detail of this P-51D, I will use the videos as reference if I may. What an incredible 3 part series. Thank you for sharing, showing, doing!!!!
What an amazing view!!! Thank you for posting!
Outstanding flight, thanks for the ride!!! You da Man!
Love that Mustang.
In 1957 our Unit the 167th FG from WVa ANG retired our Mustangs and was the very last USAF Unit to fly the P-51 Mustang. The Mustang at the AF Museum actually came from our Unit. The 167th and our Mustangs were activated during the Korean War in 1950. As a kid in the early to mid 50's, use to see them in the air all the time over Charleston, WVa. area. Love the sound of the Mustang !!! Several Mustangs still flying today came from our Unit. Great 3 part Video of this BEAUTIFUL P-51 !!! Thank You ! Love it !!!
Around 1955, I remember seeing a P-51(probably by then called an F-51)with an ANG Unit still flying out of Pittsburgh. And then when I moved to Florida in 1956 to finish High School,I remember seeing them being restored by Cavalier Aviation at the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport for private use. It always was a Great Plane.
My favourite video's! Thank you so much for taking us with you on a flight! BRILLIANT stuff!
So cool!!! Keep em flying
Incredible. Always a memorable moment seeing a P51 in the air
