A player gets 2 steps after picking up their dribble while in motion. But NBA refs are notorious for not calling a travel. If a player is stopped, they can only pivot on one foot. They can’t take a step with out dribbling. And of course, you can’t start dribbling once you’ve stopped. Hope that helps, love the videos.
Technically it's 2 steps but the NBA has a "0 step" or "gather step" rule where if you pick up the ball between or just after you initiate a step then that step counts as "Step 0" or a "ghost step." So they really get 3 steps. James Harden's famous step back jumper is an example of this.
And if you're an all star and it looked nice, you can probably take an extra step. :)
@@devinup3981 And if you just faked all the players on the floor, you probably faked the ref as well.
Yea but also people don't know the rules of gathering either so they think refs don't call them. But they do miss alot of them tho. Alot people think harden stepback is a travel, but if you really slow it down it usually not a travel it's just really good body control, yes he does travel from time to time too. Another example Giannis master that zero step and the fact he leap so far makes it look he travel. Doesn't matter how many step you take as long as a dribble in play and the heisy in dribble is still considered a dribble alive and not a gather.
Depends on the name on the back of the jersey of course
“He becomes like a giant!” Lol Giannis is a giant. 😂
One of the few players that got taller after being drafted. Rookie season he was like 6 foot 8 and then 2nd season dude is 6 foot 11 or something
The Greek Freak
not compared to other players lol
@@jshadow62 the story of Anthony Davis is INSANE.. he was like barely 6'and never gave a fuck about bball
@@mikehunt368 I mean maybe not compared to the 7 footers but even for the nba he’s large
Oh my gosh! Ya'll made my day - thank you! I have wanted ya'll to react to more NBA stuff for so long - thank you!!!!!!
No Problem 👍
@@OfficeBlokes Guys, can you react to more Epica pls? :)
This, for example: ua-cam.com/video/ed0IumD5UT8/v-deo.html
@@OfficeBlokes Or if you want live performance: ua-cam.com/video/dkqyyUTCMUQ/v-deo.html
Love the NBA highlights. Keep em coming gents. Check out "best ankle breaker/ crossover compilations" or "best passes" compilations.
Dave taking initiative and recommending good content.. i can't believe no one had thought of this before. 😂 With love guys!
😂
Yes! More NBA reactions! I think you guys would really like “NBA Top 60 Assists of the decade”. I feel like the teamwork aspect, intelligence, and trickery will peak your interest
I love the fact that there are trying to learn the basic terms for basketball and agreeing it’s fucking hilarious 😂😭
This video makes me want to see a reaction to nba best passes. There’s a lot of great passes that I think y’all would enjoy.
Here right after class. Best feeling tbh!!!! Much love from LA. You should react to best NBA crossovers of all time. That is a fire video
YAS crossovers!
@@ihateintroductions5808 yessir
Based on this, you might like NBA Ankle Breakers
This channel blew up. And I know it will continue to expand. You guys are so awesome. Keep it going. Watching everyday.
Thanks 👍
NBA dunk contest. Next please!
I think the best part about seeing people not accustomed to watching the NBA, is that they have no clue the average players' height is 6' 7" (200.66 cm). Absolute giants!!
Definitely do a basketball try video, my suggestion would be the 3 of you playing twenty-one against each other. I think you might like it
This is the most I've seen you guys laugh in a video. Must have really loved this one!
Omg, that kid's spamming of every single video's comment section actually worked 😄 it's been months
Don't know what you mean.... 😂
😂😂😂
I've been trying a few weeks for "The Gunfighter". Got a couple more months to go till I get it in. I hear the patreon requests are in high gear.
@@OfficeBlokes haha😂😂😂❤️
When I played basketball in high school, that second play by Mudiay, the fake behind the back pass..that was my go to move. But usually on a 2v1 fast break. It works every time.
definitely more NBA. top plays of the decade is a great video to check out
Love your guy's sports stuff. Glad to see videos with the full lot of Blokes again :)
NBA season is ramping up - would LOVE to see more basketball reactions! Shaq/Barkley commentary, assists, dunks, anything!
That was great. Would love to see some bloopers, also ankle breakers and trick passes.
I’m not a football (soccer) fan but one thing I can say for sure is that the trickery is by far my favorite aspect. Watching the playing juke while making the other guy look foolish, Messi stuff.
I love when players do the post-move "up and under. "
NBA hard fouls would be great fun to see.
The rule for traveling is 2 steps HOWEVER the steps only start counting the moment you LIFT YOUR FOOT AFTER YOU HAVE GATHERED THE BALL. That distinction is important because players will gather the ball with both hands and then one of their feet will hit the ground and people count that as a step. But that step was initiated before you gathered the ball and thus the step immediately after begins the count. Example: (Running) lifts foot, gathers ball(stops dribbling), foot falls, lifts other foot(step one)
Thanks Dave ! As well as the Office Blokes altogether.
If you want an idea for the try channel, we have a game called HORSE. It's just a basketball game where one player takes a shot from a particular area, and if the other players can't hit the same shot, they get a letter (H, then O, then R etc) once you spell HORSE you lose. After every player shoots, the next player gets to take the first shot and decide where to shoot from. If you miss, you don't get a letter, it just moves on to the next player.
Doesn't have to be HORSE, you can use any word. Depending on how long you want to play. But BLOKE has the same amount of letters, just sayin'!! :P
That's a great idea
You guys should watch some Jokic passing highlights, he has the craziest passes and I think you guys would like it.
Steps only count after you gathered the ball. You can step as many as you want if the ball is on air or not being touched. 2 is the maximum steps allowed but there are still complexities to the rule regarding things like "pivot foot" and as I've said "gather"
While technically true, the NBA has a "0 step" or "gather step" rule where if you pick up the ball between steps or just after initiating a step then that first step is considered "Step 0" or a "ghost step" and it doesn't count toward the 2 steps. You can find videos on here describing the "0 step" rule in detail.
12:08 and 13:30 - Love seeing back to back plays from my fellow Spartans!!! GO GREEN!!!
We need more nba reactions
Traveling is tricky. In the NBA you get a “gather step”. Basically, that means you can finish the step you’re in the middle of when you gather the ball in both hands. Then you get two full steps before you have to shoot or pass. So it’s effectively two and a half steps. You cannot dribble again once you gather the ball.
Love your channel, you should watch best dunks from the nba all-star slam dunk contest
Nice reaction guys, keep up the good work.
Daz is pretty spot on with traveling. You can take two steps before it’s traveling but at the NBA level it isn’t enforced as much as it use to/should be and people get away with it at times
Travelling is one of those things refs often give more leeway to flashier players. Its a running joke here (no pun intended) that Lebron does a half marathon on the way to most dunks and never gets a travel call.
What are you talking about? He takes the same amount of steps as every other player on dunks 😂 you sound like a 10 year old
@@PHXNKVHXLIC lol okay man.
There are uncalled travels, but a lot of the time its very deceptive. I once saw Giannic running to the rim starting from behind half court...he only did TWO dribbles the entire way than two steps to dunk it...it first looked like he had taken at least four steps holding the ball, but after I looked again it was only two. He was going so fast and hes so tall.
ye should do a gainnis antatakompo compilation he is the best player in the league last couple years he is a 6 , 11 Greek freek of nature absolutely amazing love ye keep up the good work
You should react to The Professor, he does street basketball and does that magician, quick hands quick feet stuff. Harry Mack vibes but for basketball. Love your guys content keep it up.
Loving the sports content!
Can't believe not even one vid of Larry Bird. Bird was a master of misdirection.
Watch nba ankle breakers y'all would love it
Yey! Another NBA reaction! I miss this
You guys should check out AND 1 or The Professor for some crazy baskeball moves, making people look silly. Also Jason "White Chocolate" Williams passing highlights are awesome.
At this level there are a lot fewer fails than you might believe. In 2019, 866 NCAA players were competing for 60 draft picks in the NBA, not only with each other, but also with a growing number of overseas players. About 40 to 45 will survive past their rookie contract. Of the 15 players that play on a team, 8 or 9 will get regular minutes, minus injuries. These players are the best of the best. Enjoy.
In the NBA you can get called for a technical foul if you taunt another player. It used to happen a lot years ago, but now they’ll turn to the crowd or away from the player if he wants to flex a little.
It’s easy to count a player’s first step from the time the ball is dribbled last. But you’re supposed to start from when he physically picks up his dribble. And players have gotten really good at gathering the ball a split second after taking a step, making their next step their first technical step. Makes a non-travel look like a travel a lot. With all that said, players do take 3-4 steps and get away with it more often than they should
It's 2 steps, but that's after you finish your "gather" or the process of picking up the ball or controlling it (rather than actively dribbling). So often it looks like 3 or 4 in real-time. Actually, most of the time it's right on the borderline of illegal, if not technically a travel.
shaqtin a foool!!!! its shaq and the gang doing the bloopers every week.
The NBA doesn’t count steps until the ball is “gathered”, so on the last dribble a player (ala Westbrook at 5:45) takes any number if steps on the last dribble, and then 2 after the “gather”....that makes it look like the player takes 3 or more steps after ceasing the dribble.
You guys should react to the Dunk Contest especially the Zach Lavine vs Aaron Gordon one
It's a travel if you take more than two steps before passing or shooting. However, in the NBA the rules get bent often; especially if they're a star player.
You guys haven't reacted to the best part of the sport yet in my opinion. The PASSING. The "50 best assists of the decade" is the perfect video for you guys.
We need some scariest NBA falls LOL
Traveling rules have kind of changed over the years. They barely call traveling at all but technically, it's two steps. The trick of it is when you start counting steps. These days they're not supposed to start counting until the player can't dribble anymore, which is usually when they put both hands on the ball or one hand all the way under the ball.
Dead right traveling is 3 steps and is rarely called unless it is outrageous. The stars get even more leeway on it than the average player to.
After stop plant feet but as long as one foot stays in place it doesn't matter how many steps with loose foot but 2 steps without dribbling is all you can take .
You guys should watch "The Gunfighter" short film if the feeling hits you. Its 8 mins and pretty funny.
Keep fighting my brother.
Great opening and closing comments on this one. Yes, one for the Try channel!
It’s technically 2 steps after the dribble that’s legal. Any after is called a travel and you lose possession. There is something called the “gather” step before the 2 steps are counted that a lot of people don’t understand. It’s like the “0th” step (so 0, 1, 2 steps) that professionals abuse (why you see a lot of “3” dribble drives). The refs are very lax about calling travels nowadays, and no one really cares unless it’s blatantly obvious.
React to street ball ankle breakers
More NBA please!!! I love these
NBA best blocks and best posters would be dope to see.
NBA is the 4th most valuable league in the world behind the NFL, Major League Baseball, and the Premier League.
Aye thanks Dave
Best group I love
I wish Simmons still played like that WOW.
NBA is fun to watch, would love to see you guy check out some of the greats, Jordan, Allen Iverson, Shaq and Larry Bird! That guy was a master passer, shoter and thrash talker.
I watch Larry Bird trash talking storys once a while to put a smile on my face.
thanks Dave!
7:00 the Greek Freak, dude is a real freak. He's tall but really fast and too athletic.
gotta love the NBA reactions
To address Mike's question you are given two steps before it is traveling but the NBA really never calls it even now.
Watch Luka Doncic highlights, top 5 player now but will soon be the best in the league. Also for the most part he's not the most athletic so no power dunks, but his skill will amaze you.
Just the 2 highlights of his in this vid gained the most reaction out of you all. His up and under move and his no look pass.
My favorite sport. I forgot how much I love watching. React to WNBA highlights please.
7:17 They call him the greek freak for obvious reasons.
You guys would definitely enjoy Jason Williams (White Chocolate) highlights - flashy passes etc were his thing
They should react to Jason Williams some if the best passing highlights
He’s going to the hoop and scoring. No traveling there
if you liked the passing ones you should check out the NBA Top Assists Of The Decade
You guys should do best of "White Chocolate". He was a crafty basketball player. Crazy passes.
Basically, if you're going towards the goal (basket) you can tale ALL the "traveling" you need. Some of these
the player should have to show a Passport! Also "palming" is seldom called, where your hand is UNDER the ball
and you "walk" (change directions) seldom called anymore. That`s today's NBA.
More NBA reacts please!!!
Actually, you are only supposed to get 2 steps after you stop dribbling (bouncing) the ball, but often times in the NBA you will see players get away with 3 more often than not. It is really up to the ref to call the travel after 2 steps though.
Lmao these boys are top shelf
In the NBA you can take about 12 steps before they call it. The rule is 2 steps off the dribble
You guys should react to Magic Johnson of the original “showtime” Lakers of the 80’s and 90’s.
If you guys want a good weather reaction..... A derecho.....
A video by TheNStew named "Iowa Derecho: In Their Own Words (Real-time Documentary)"..... It's nearly 64 minutes long, and it happened last year
Great pick!.Fun to watch👍🏼😲🏀😯😮👍🏼.....
You're only allowed 2 steps any more is a travel but it has to be in the shooting motion moving to the rim
Basketball! Thanks Dave
Nba ankle breakers is hella entertaining
Traditionally it’s 2 steps without dribblin before a it’s called a travel. But today’s players are so skilled that it looks like they take more steps because there’s something called the 0 step that is basically a player picking up or gathering the ball after dribbling
Dribble -> Zero Step (Gather) -> 2 steps
Anymore will be called a travel
You should react to Stranglemania its Japanese extreme wrestling that Insane Clown Posse dubbed over like they were ringside announcing and is the funniest thing ive ever seen in my life. They wrestle in broken glass and barb wire its crazy!!!!
You should watch a video on NBA best passes.
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME...LARRY BIRD. YOU WANT TO SEE JAW DROPPING??
Gotta watch a "Missed dunks" video!
Oh watch Shaqtin a Fool. Bloopers like crazy.
If you enjoyed these, you would love 'ankle breakers' from the NFL. Highlight-reel jukes.
You can take 2 steps after your last dribble. And normally they are giant steps
Y’all gotta check out the Ankle Breakers
