Such a good song. People who say the new Nightwish album is not the real Nightwish, have no clue what they are taking about. I hear so much of Nightwish through the ages in this album, mixed with new inspiration and a new layer with the arrival of Troy. And yes the operatic part in this song still brings a tear to my eye.
You have to wonder what these people expect from them as a band. Are they not supposed to try new tricks for fear of upsetting a few delicate little souls? 😜
It would be a sad thing if bands didn't grow and evolve as they matured, Tuomas is in an extremely happy place right now, people should be happy about that.
I will go even further than that. To me this album is their best album of them all.... it is so complete, so well-rounded. A masterpiece for the ages for everyone to enjoy.
OMG everytime I start to tear up and have full body chills when the operatic part from Floor starts. This is one of my favorites for sure! What a well written and composed song!
I'm seriously obsessed with this album, I've been listening to it non stop since yesterday, I can't afford it so I'm very glad they put the song on their channel with the lyrics
I'm so glad somebody else picked up on that! None of the reactions I've seen so far have mentioned it, but it's such an effective addition to the song! It actually starts from 3:20, at the start of that instrumental breakdown, but it's definitely more obvious in that last section before Floor comes back in. Troy proving that he can do more than just sing and play pipes! ;)
@@mantailuaa Yup! You also hear it under Floor's vocals in Procession. :D I'm so glad they got some E-Bow stuff in the album; it' been such a great addition to the band's sound!
YES Tauri, I got goosebumps after 5 secs too, and then throughout the song. It's not only the operatic part which is amazing here, but the whole song. Happy to be bodychilling here with you.
I have some difficulties with this song. But never mind that, because the funny thing here is that the "legato" singing style in the beginning is probably harder to sing than the operatic "staccato" ending, although it is very majestic and impressive to hear. And the narrator there is Tuomas's wife Johanna Kurkela, who is also famous singer with angelic voice an elvish appearance. Nightwish announced about half an hour ago that the album has topped German charts. Thank you!
What makes that singing of Floor with a choir even more powerful is that they applied some reverb to it - the effect of which is to make it echo-y. Going up and down, something you remarked upon, can be quite challenging for a singer and in this case it is compounded by the fact that she has to sing in a staccato style (that choppiness) and navigate all those other thing - tempo, timing, diction.
Yep A Great Song. And lovely reaction. Lovely beginning and there we go 😋 Great story and Floor tells it well, but that ending....oh well 🥰 🤔 so the song begins at sun up and ends at sun set, or is my mind playing tricks... Till the Next 1 Taurri 🤘 Thnx...🖐
Hello from Brazil. Thanks for react. Yes, it's beautiful music. The music at the beginning is incredible with a bass beat along with Floor. The drums was also great. Everything looked like a metal prog. The ending is what she did in After Forever's DreamFlight. - As I am an older headbanger my favorites are Tribal, Music and Pan.
Keep on listening all the songs as You mentioned in the Review. I have done that since 10.4 🤗 Also there is always a story behind all the songs/albums 😁 Shakespeare thing is said by Tuomas's wife Johanna. All the best from Finland, keep safe and healty 🤗
such a good song and a nice honor for Eugene shoemaker planetary science still very beautiful they took finnish heavy metal and gave it some sounds from the orchestra don't know how anyone isn't touched by that piece of music like much of the music they create
Floor's operatic singing of "Laudato Si Ad Astra" (Latin for All praise be to the stars) has profound provenance. From Wikipedia: Laudato si' (English: Praise Be to You!) is the second encyclical of Pope Francis. The encyclical has the subtitle "on care for our common home". In it, the pope critiques consumerism and irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls all people of the world to take "swift and unified global action." "Ad Astra" (Also From Wikipedia): Ad astra is a Latin phrase meaning "to the stars". The phrase has origins with Virgil, who wrote sic itur ad astra ("thus one journeys to the stars", from Aeneid book IX, line 641, spoken by Apollo to Aeneas's young son Iulus) and opta ardua pennis astra sequi ("desire to pursue the high (or hard to reach) stars on wings" book XII, lines 892-893, spoken by Aeneas to his foe Turnus in their combat). These seemingly simple four Latin words, with such providence seem to be Tuomas Holopainen's thoughtful invitation to excel as a species. "to care for our common home" as the thrust of the album reminds us we ARE on our"spaceship" hurtling through eternity.
@@dennislindqvist8443 Spot on man. The pope, if he's so concerned about humankind could start by selling off the immense treasures of the corrupt Catholic church, spend the wealth by building hospitals and schools in the so called third world instead of protecting child raping priests, stop telling people that birth control is a sin etc etc. Religions is the worst cancer to ever have been inflicted on us as a species!
The opener "Music" is just as awesome as "Shoemaker", just in a different way. It might be a good choice for your next Nightwish reaction. But I guess you could react to the whole album and not find a single weak song.
@@johntsoukas8723 Well the ideal setup would be first band to play is Marco and his band then Northward with Floor and Jørn Viggo Lofstad with the band from beste zengers..Then Auri then Nightwish and for Nightwish new album the choir could be oceansouls..be awesome..ua-cam.com/video/fbwS3QMZ5qc/v-deo.html
I think I saw somewhere that Tuomas said he doesn’t want to perform this track live. I hope he has reconsidered based on the positive reactions and floorgasms for that ending. The amazing thing is Floor said she was challenged by that ending. I wouldn’t know it
@@TauriReacts hey Tauri, just wanted to tell you that the operatic part as a melodic construct is so similar to the epic soundtrack labeled as 'Lacrimosa' by Zbigniew Preisner (Tree of Life). That one, oh my lord is more intense than this one. :)
I do like watching your reactions but could you please check out Amaranthe - Hunger (the song that got me into them) now they are my fave band. Also Amaranthe - The Helix, Dragonforce - Ashes of the Dawn and The Edge of the World, and Theocracy - The Gift of Music, Around the world and back, Lay the demon to rest, and a side project called Project Aegis - Angel in the Ashes, a load of awesome vocalists in that track. Please, please, please check these out!!
I think this song is too early in your Nightwish experience. To this point you've heard Marko, Floor and Troy. You probably don't know who Shoemaker was.

Yes, but Tuomas is secular. And in what particular has religion helped us? Name one occasion.

Laudato Si Ad Astra ( Praised Be You To The Stars ) . It's because his ashes where put to rest on the Moon ! May he rest in peace !
I wonder if Johanna is going to become more active with Nightwish? Tuomas seems so much more at ease since they got together and collaborated in Auri.
Lets hope Auri tour with Nightwish?
