This song was a highlight at concerts! You all performed it so well night after night. And I would get tears during the “We Were Here” part at the end. Thanks so much! ❤️❤️
Check out Therion too if you like Symphonic Metal. Just as sublime and sensational as Nightwish. You may also appreciate the Folk Metal, Neo-Medieval, and Melodic Death Metal genres.
I'm 72 and in total agreement. I likewise grew up with the Beatles, Stones and Led Zeppelin but also Stravinsky et al. This was an amazing performance and wish I could have been there.
Am I the only one who starts getting all emotional with the concept of the song?? How can other bands ever compete with what Nightwish have turned into? This is philosophy, storytelling, poetry, science if you will...This is all what metal could be to me.
@Johnny Finn Nightwish will, one day, be hailed as the reason for the success of symphonic rock. If you haven't done it yet and want to sob uncontrollably, watch the movie "Imaginaerum." After dozens of viewings, I still choke up multiple times. If I had a "Make A Wish" opportunity, it would be to hang out with Emppu for a couple of hours... he seems SO happy making others happy that he holds a special place in my set of beloved musicians... maybe even the top one. 😀
The visuals at the "We were here!" finale always get me. Thank you, Nightwish, for reminding us of our humanity, our better and cosmic natures, and giving us words to dream by and live by.
In the grand scale of things, the gist of this composition, we are nothing but that. Footnotes to future generations. Or alien civilizations finding out a monke with big brain actually managed to off themselves. No matter what, we will eventually fade out on this Earth. The big question is will we continue on as a species through raping other heavenly bodies. But "Life" as we humans consider it, WILL end billions of years before Sol revokes its contract.
14:16 - 14:47 The Evolution of Music This has to be my favorite part of the song because it's so subtle that you might not catch it the first time around, but it's arguably the most brilliant part of the song in terms of storytelling. Within about 30 seconds, you can hear a beautiful representation of musical history. It begins with a harpsichord playing Bach's Minuet in G, followed by the voices of Chrismas Carolers singing a snippet that's reminiscent of Carol of the Bells to represent the Classical Music of the 18-1900s; it then moves to mid-20th century american Country Music with a short snippet of a banjo diddy ; the early 21st century follows afterwards with a riff from Metallica's "Enter Sandman" to represent the Golden Age of Classic Metal; it then ends with the drumkit briefly switching from acoustic to digital as it plays an EDM style beat to represent Club Music and the modern era. This is not a part of the song I see people talk about often and I think it definitely deserves more praise because it's absolutely genius.
Actually it starts before 14:16, exactly at 13:47.. it starts with tribal rythms and singings (probably they want to evoke the ancient music), then it lasts with a kind of Gregorian chants and afterwards those that you mentioned!!! In total is exactly 1 minute!
I really would love to see someone do a breakdown specifically on this part of the song. I think I'm missing stuff, and I'd love to have someone point it out. I certainly don't find all the things mentioned by Claire there.
I'm 63 now. Grew up with Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Renaissance and other Hardrock or Artrock stuff. And discovered Nightwish last year. It' a great performance!
"Ghost Love Score" was the love at first sight as when we heard Nightwish first time and loved them. "The Poet and The Pendulum" was the mourning for the old times of Nightwish and calling for the new dark adventures "The Greatest Show on Earth" was the great announcement of the epic era is about to come as Nightwish has finally established their best line-up! Now it is the time for "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World"
The best line-up so far. Most of us already made the assumption that they have reached their best line-up before and were proven wrong. I don't know if it is possible to get even better. But Nightwish is always full of surprises.
He HAS to smile, he has the best job on earth - and he has a pinchable-cheek face, he's just damned cute (and I say that as a straight guy - the dude looks huggable).
@@TheReverendRobDiesel lol yes, I saw them live and Emppu was smiling and being cute the whole time. He also threw a guitar pick right at my face and I keep it in a special place haha. What a great experience seeing Nightwish live is!
When I listen to that part I always think of how brief the life is. I start to make a comparison between our ancestors and us, and they were also here, as we are. They just vanished, evolved and here we are trying to evolve into a better society, and maybe not too far into the future we will be the ones who were here, and undoubtedly will be part of the history and will become "ancestors" for other "people" or begins. That part of the song always makes my body shake and make me realise that we are just stardust. Once we were, now we are no more.
@@camilomaldonadopinzon6847 And each and every one of us with hopes and dreams and fears lived their lives and died. Imagine 117 BILLION people that all were born and died before us. We think we are so amazing as homo sapiens, but just like you said; we're all just stardust!
I get emotional every time I hear the "We were here" part. This song really helps you remember how small you are compared to the universe and the things that came before and the things that will come after. It reminds us there's going to be time when humans don't exist anymore or that we'll one day be considered an ancient civilization ourselves. Beautiful! I've listened to this song so many times, I've lost count and I know I'll keep coming back to listen again!
I'm left completely speechless...never was there a more wholesome band than Nightwish...I lose myself into its universe, tales and ink stained pages...every song, every concept and concert is simply a magnificent work of art. They'll forever be in my ❤
you said what I feel for this band for years now but never been able to put into words.. thank you so much Nightwish and their music will be in my heart forever🤍
Couldn't agree more, every song is so diverse that you never know what to expect unless of course you are familiar with their music and you hit the nail on the head when you said there was never a more wholesome band and there probably never will be in our lifetime, especially with that contrived manufactured rubbish they call music nowadays. Great comment keep spreading the word and Nightwish will keep going.
16:33 Seeing Tuomas overcome with emotion here makes me cry tears of joy. You smashed it and you know it. You, sir. Are a musical genius. You created that masterpiece and performed it not just for the crowd before you, but for the country, the world, and the entire universe out there. We were here, and your song is a shout out to everyone out there. WE WERE HERE!
Anyone who thinks that a scientific worldview is cold, emotionless, and spiritually unsatisfying needs to hear this song. One of the most beautiful and moving things I've ever heard.
@@jedicouncil66 If you see it as despair, you are missing the point of the song. It's about joy and wonder. It literally calls us humans "the lucky ones".
"When I was little, I was fascinated by stars. I thought they were magic. I kept coming up with all these crazy theories about how they worked. I wanted to believe in magic. [...] When I grew up and learned the real explanation for the stars, they became even more amazing." - certified cynical dickhead Colonel Janus
I must have listened to this a thousand times, and yes, still also get goose bumps! I sit and listen in awe, and cannot wait to see this live. Beautiful from start to finish - phenomenal!
About a year ago I "rediscovered" Nightwish after watching a random video here on YT. Haven't listened to Nightwish for like 10 years before that. I think the song was The poet and the pendulum, (didn't even know they had their third singer, after Anette) and since then I've listened/watched Nightwish songs almost daily. If that random video haven't been Nightwish, I might never have found out about Floor Jansen, for me the greatest singer there is. I might never have found my way back to Nightwish, for me the greatest band there is, and listened to songs like Poet..., Ghost love score, Storytime, Tribal...too many to write here. Thank you Nightwish, for making the best music I've ever listened to.
I feel you. I used to love Nightwish untill Annette came along. I stopped listening to Nightwish completely. Then one day I heard Floor on our national show Beste Zangers, saying she was now the voice of Nightwish. I've always been a big fan of her, loved After Forever, so I just had to check out her performances with Nightwish and damn I am SO glad I did. I absolutely LOVE Nightwish again! In my opinion they are better than they've ever been, even though I really liked them with Tarya too. Floor is just out of this world and Troy is such a great addition. So sad Jukka had to quit though, but this drummer is very good too, they are all just amazing!
Back in 2008 a co-worker introduced me to Nightwish. Wish I Had An Angel was the first song of theirs I heard (he had a copy of Once) and I immediately went out to buy it, only to find that the store I went to didn't have a copy of that, but they did have Dark Passion Play. As soon as The Poet and the Pendulum started playing, I thought, "that's not the same singer..." That song still hooked me though, the musicianship far exceeded anything I was exposed to at the time. I started looking more into the band, and found that Tarja had left. I liked Anette fine, never had a problem with her style, but as I went deeper down the rabbit hole I got more into the older songs, and I also discovered After Forever, specifically Dreamflight, and Floor's range blew me away. So when I found out she was going to be the singer for Nightwish, I was beyond excited. Seen them twice, both times with Floor, and those were two of the best shows I've ever been to. Waiting for show number 3, whenever that is...
Nightwish - I’d argue - is keeping so many people sane, positive, and uplifted during this unprecedented time of uncertainty and fear. Thank you for it.
" unprecedented time of uncertainty and fear." Maybe open a history book some day. It's hard to find times in history where we've had it better than we do now.
She's a Goddess Valkyrie with a superior powerful voice, full of extreme feelings. Love you all Nigthwish, you are the best artist of music and deep feelings ever..... U're the only one that can make me cry while I sing with you.....🤘🥰😘
The entire album is Nightwish's masterpiece so far. And Floor's voice is so rich and colorful interpreting the lyrics, it touches something deep inside of me. :)
Every time the ending happens, "we were here" I just get so overwhelmed with emotion and I sob. I don't know why. I can't help it. This song just really hits me
It should be emotional. "We Were Here" is a celebratory chant saying we existed, we won the lottery of birth and lived, overshadowed by the inevitable end.
It hits me every time as well. To me there is so much anguish, and yet a hint of defiance in that final cry. Humankind's unified voice shouting out to the uncaring and empty vastness of the Universe that "We Existed". The loneliness of being the only known sentient species, mixed with the resolve that even if there are no other eyes and ears out there (and I dearly hope there are) to witness our existence and eventual passing; the Universe created something worthy of note. It warms my heart to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way about that ending and so I thank you and wish you all the best. :)
That moment when all those pictures pass by of random people and everyone screams 'WE WERE HERE!'always brings a tear to my eyes. Probably my favourite Nightwish song of all.
It happens exactly the same. A few months ago I discovered this band (I had listened to individual songs without paying much attention) and I am fascinated. I am 43 years old, I have never been to a show by any band and a few days ago I bought my tickets to see Nightwish in Argentina next October. I can't explain the emotion I feel !!
Todo esto ES FABULOSO TE ELEVA ENGANCHADA EN UNA CUERDA AL FUTURO ASI ME VEO YO A Y ENGANCHADA EN LA BANDA ES TRANPORTABLE Y MAS ALLA VOYYYYYYYYY CAROLINA WEINBERG DE ARGENTINA
Man, this song is definitely a masterpiece, I can't stop listening it, again and again. I saw you on live for the 1st time 2 weeks ago in Paris, and I'll never forget it. Please never stop... Being!
It's not her voice alone its the way she uses it. The various low and high notes she can reach and in different styles and even different languages. Simone Simons, Sharon Den Adel and Amy lee are awesome too for example BUT with no disrespect to them...Floor is the most flexible of them all and she can perfect any style she gets into...from operatic to heavy metal to hard rock to pop to jazzy-ish to growling...she has it all and she's worked damn hard to achieve it. her pairing with Nightwish is just marvelous because it introduced a lot of people to the band and genre and all the side projects that the band members had and have. Floor Jansen and Nightwish are for us today what Freddie Mercury and Queen were back in the day. Oh and no disrespect to Tarja(which I've only this year managed to see live and she magnificent as expected) or Anette(still waiting to catch her live). I like them too and we wouldn't be here to talk about any of this if not for their contributions as well
@@vlad-ovidiuadam6489 dude, your comment is pure and condensed truth, from the first to the last word. Also note that I've been listening to metal music (not the heavy one or a more instrumental one, but mostly to power metal, gothic and symphonic metal) for over 10 years, with the first group I listened to being Evanescence (whose frontwoman is the above mentioned Amy Lee), and the first actually loved to the deep being Within Temptation (not to be said, Sharon's band), so I totally get your comparison, and I can compare them as well with my musical tastes and history. They all have a wonderful voice, however it's not the bare voice which lets you understand the power of these bands, but the way they decide to use them. Just think of Whole World is Watching from WT, of Bring Me to Life from Evanescence: they are well known songs, but they are the ones which let you appreciate the frontwomen's voice the most, since they are literally able to crack your heart.
When people say music can heal the soul, for me, this is what they're talking about. This song removes so much negativity, anxiety, and existential fear from my ego that all I'm left with is appreciation and tears for the message and feeling left behind. I've not been moved by music like this in two decades.
"We Were Here..." And I was there! Hair on the back of my neck standing up on end all night! And then to see Richard Dawkins at the end was such a magical moment! I'm so desperately hoping the December gig at Wembley is possible... Here's hoping 😀
@@katrinarickard2286 At least you've got a chance, I was planning on seeing them in NYC in September. It hasn't been officially cancelled yet, but considering that the US is still setting records for new cases, I don't see how there's even hope for a September show.

I hadn't heard of Nighwish, just saw a recommended video. I am not entirely processing what i have just seen. I mean the word epic seems trivial....I am just.....astounded....
This is an epic master piece and it make me proud to have come across Nightwish last year. True artist at work here. Thank you Nightwish for making great music with a message. Yours truly Olly The Rock AKA Wolf rock.
Nightwish - their music is unapologetically artistic, they write and sing whatever they want and it's always epic in the truest sense of the word. No conforming to trends, just making music to the tune of their souls.
This composition is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. The Moonlight Sonata for all of existence. Absolutely unequivocally the best piece of sonic art in 30 years. Tuomas’s compositional artistry is ingeniously divine. Floor’s effervescence and dynamic stage presence added to the entrancing operatic acrobats of her voice sending chills throughout. Loved every single aspect of this song; oh and adding Richard Dawkins was fantastic. My words drastically fail at how amazing this was. Thank you all for gifting this epic to mankind 🙏🏻.....truly.
It became a real masterpiece if they should use a real orchestra and choiron, because Floor deserve that. On the the other hand the combination of symphonic metal bands with a real orchestra and choir is a Dutch thing I suppose. (Within Temptation, Epica)
This is the most awe inspiring song ever, the writing, composition, playing, singing and meaning behind the song. I missed this gig in London in December 2015 as my father was admitted to hospital my mum became ill shortly after. It became a kind of anthem for me as I nursed them both through rapidly debilitating illnesses. My dad passed away on March 1st 2016 and my mum 3 weeks later on March 22nd. My heart and spirit broke but I listened to this song on repeat and I understood how very lucky I was to have such wonderful parents who taught me, my brother, my kids and grandkids so much. Their brief time on earth has left a positive lasting mark thru their genes, their deeds and their teachings. I miss them so much each and every day but know when my brief time is over that I will go back where it all started and be one with them again. You have no idea how much this song has influenced my heart and way of thinking 🤗💕🤗💕🤘 Thank you all and to Richard Dawkins whos teachings inspired this song and album xxx
Dear Freya, l’ll hope for your mum and dad they believed (confessed to) in God before they died. It’s the only possible way for you to meet them again. Not via the teachings of Dawkins, because he is an athëist, not even a thrustworthy scientist.
Dear Freya, to start to begin with, I'm so sorry for your loss! I know what it feels like letting one of your parents go; I too felt it! Your parents would have been proud of you because of your care and dedication! You can be very proud of them!
"The Greatest Show on Earth" is definately one of the most deeply emotional Nightwish's songs Tuomas has ever written, it is simply impossible not to cry with the history of us all while listening this absolute Nightwish magnum opus and to have Dawkins in the end, it's hard to not burst into tears, for it is simply the tale of our history here on this magnificent planet. Thank you, Tuomas and Nightwish for existing and I can't wait now for "Yesterwynde"! WE WERE HERE!!!
Nightwish are now next level magical, beautiful, wonderful...... Tuomas- we are Indeed privileged to have lived while this man shared his musical genius.
"Wintersun" (though not 20 minutes long songs (yet? ^^). And "Ne Obliviscaris" do this for me, too. Music is such a powerful thing, making us escape from things like time. It's truly magic
I've discovered Nightwish last Saturday and I'm in shock from then (with Ghost Love Score at Buenos Aires). A truly excellent band and.... what a voice!. Sometimes, I wish that all the crownd and the band stays in silence so I can hear Floor sing like a goodness. I don't have enough words to describe my first encounter with Floor's voice. From then, I suffer the Stendhal's syndrome. What can I do, doctor?

I spoke to Richard Dawkins at a meeting in 2015 and I asked him about his collaboration with Nightwish. He was incredibly impressed by the band and by Tuomas' in particular. When he was invited, he expected to just do a 'voiceover' but was in the studio with the band, so could see how they work. He was very much looking forward to the Wembley show, although I think he was a bit nervous!
Yes, he said in an interview-esque thing that he was quite frightened of Wembley, that having been the largest crowd of people he had ever addressed in person.
Being an evolutionary biology student and a metal music fan there cannot be a more perfect song which encapsulates my two likings. I cannot believe I have discovered it now!Dawkins Sir at the end..I am speechless😅
Listening to this song while at home: Fantastic. Listening to this song at work while liberating the bones of a T. rex from 66 million year-old rock: Profound! There is grandeur, indeed!
this is the most unexpected collab. I was growing up listening to nightwish, later i discovered Books of Richard Dawkins. I have never expected this could go together so nicely. Respect
Yeap, I feel the same! .... thought I knew everything about Nightwish. This concert is just tremendous and the presence of Richard Dawkins a great honour!
Well, I rarely listen to so-called symphonic metal. But this... this is extraordinary. What a show-off of talent, musicianship, energy and pure joy this is ! What a fantastic show it must have been ! I'm totally blown off !!
One of the most dramatic and inspiring songs I've ever heard. I never cease to enjoy this, listening over and over. In all aspects, the combined efforts of Nightwish are just remarkable. Thank you all.
If they are from before 2012 they will have another lead singer. Not starting a discussion again who's the better one you can't argue taste and nostalgia. It's different for sure.
I have not listened to Nightwish in a long long time and havent kept up with their newer stuff. When i read the title, i was like, "Wait, hold up? WHAT? DR. RICHARD DAWKINS? WHAT?? HOW?" I would have never in a thousand years imagine Dr. Richard Dawkins to be in live concert with Nightwish. Nighwish is already EPIC, and having him there in person makes it beyond so... it is surreal watching this on a screen. imagine being there in person.
It's another masterpiece of nightwish. Omg it's so light and dark at the same time. The instrumental is so perfect and Floor's voice sounds like the voice of a goddess. The noises of the animals are so epic. It's actually a shame that I haven't found this beautiful piece earlier. ❤❤❤
A lifelong E.L.O. and Jeff Lynne fan here who has only recently discovered Nightwish having decided to take a look at what what all the fuss is about after hearing so much about them and......OMG. What a rabbit hole this has become. Long live Floor with Nightwish and the return of Marco (please 🙏) when the time is right 👍😊
Perhaps someone will disagree, but at live concerts Floor has such an energy that charges not only the audience in the hall but also the rest of the band members who fall under her influence and play on the rise, with enthusiasm, it's just read on their face’s …
Ever notice how HAPPY Emppu looks in EVERY video, from day 1 to now? Although, I didn't like H2N, so I'm not sure if he is so happy in those videos/performances.
There has never been a song written to respect the mother nature grander than this one. Massive respect 🎩 Thank you, Nightwish 🌹 Thank you Sir Richard Dawkins.🌹
50 years as a musician. I have never heard anybody sing so loud in concert. EVER. Floor is louder than her monitors. My daughter an I adore her and hubby.
Tuomas is a master of music. After going thru a solid dark time with the poet and the pendulum. He wrote a song to make us realise that its a chance to be alive. And simply living is the greatest show on earth.
@@ari4681 Theory is not proof. Proof precedes theory. Theory is a collection of proofs (or facts) used to explain something more complex, the hows and the whys. Proofs are also small individual pieces of the puzzle. There is no one big proof of complex phenomena. Many things in science will never be proven, because of our limitations of measurements and understanding. What science does is to tell us, as far as we know, this is the best explanation, things that are tested and have found to be so far so good. But it is also a challenge to scientists to prove that what we know is wrong, so that we can improve our understanding. Things that have been "proven wrong" also are not completely dismissed, but tweaked and used with caveats and limitations. For example, Newton's laws are "wrong" when considering certain situations, but they are still very valid for normal day to day use. Einstein's theories are wrong when considering the quantum world, but perfectly fine on the macro level. And what we have is not the end, but just a step towards the next on the road to understanding.

This is surely one of the wildest show, which the band Nightwish had. It still brings back great memories of this show, even though I wasn't there in person, every time I rewatch this video I get chills all over my body.
This is the only version of this song I watch now. When she says "Please sing with us!" it always invokes a tear or two. Absolutely stunning performance!
I would like to say several things about this group. One of them is that I started listening to it only a few months ago and in a short time I have put aside other groups that were inseparable for me. I mean, I can't get the Nightwish melody out of my ears. I am a Cuban man raised on rock from the United States and the United Kingdom, so I could not imagine a group of such quality in such remote lands as Finland. I'm a fan in love with Floor, and delighted with the fantastic lyrics that make up the team. I know I will never see you in person but I follow you as best I can. I have seen all the concerts of you on UA-cam and I am pleased to have you on my phone and in my life. Long live Nightwish.
@roco z I know what you meant, but friend let's face it, I live in Cuba and you will know that it is very unlikely that Nightwish will appear here. Anyway, your comment is valid. The world can be very small at a time. Greetings from Havana.
I haven’t seen the band but came across one of their songs and eventually found this song. To me, this song illustrates God’s power and might as he created the universe throughout billions of years of evolution.
Great that you discovered them, but this is a really ignorant comment. You realize that there are many, many great Finnish bands? Finland is the metal capital of the world, probably. Besides the other Nordic countries.
MAGIC! All of my live i have been on serach for THAT ONE perfect song, and finally i found it here with Nightwish´s Greatest Show on Earth! That changed really a lot for me, i fell so much in love with the songs, the majestic arrangements by Nightwish and with that UNBELIEVABLE voice of Floor and Marco...This song definately derserves MUCH MORE attention... Lots of love to finland and thank you so much for the emotions and the music! Love!
Previously my favorite longest track was Ghost Love Score, but damn, this blows it out of the water! This song definetly is the ultimate Nightwish song.

I've tried to understand why people love this song so much for a long time, but every time I listen to it, it just bores me. The song seems all over the place and doesn't make me feel anything. I know music is preference but as someone who enjoys most of their songs... can anyone explain to me what people enjoy so much about this song? Really don't get it but trying to understand what I'm missing here.
@@123Suffering456 Have you tried listening to it while your reading the lyrics? Maybe being able to follow along would help? It's about the creation of our universe and planet eart. That's why chapter 1 is called Four Point Six. I guess I see it as a 20-21 minute rock opera dedicated to the creation of the planet. The first part I can see the creation of the stars and galaxies in my head....sort of like the music is painting it into existence. Part 2 "Life" is talking about life starting on our planet, single microbes up to humans (which is Part 3, Toolmaker). I adore part 3 now, but I will admit the animalistic growls the first time through really made me chuckle. I was like "Wait, run that by me again?" Part 4 has got to be my favourite though, once they start in with the “We Were Here” portion of the song I can’t listen with out getting teary eyed - from happiness. It’s a nice life reminder when your having a stressful day. Puts things in perspective.
Oh my god how did I miss that until now? It is truly a masterpiece and made me cry! It is just so powerful! Nightwish you are amazing!! You exist, we live in the era with you. That makes us the lucky ones!
This is one of the most elegant songs I’ve ever heard to be honest. Simplistic yet complete and somehow complex. But even more .. so meaningful and beautiful.
When they started showing different people, races and cultures and sang "WE WERE HERE" and Emppu was so happy... I lost it, I was crying like a baby. And then when I saw Tuomas' smile I cried even more.
Nice to have this "official" version rather than the Tampere one. Please do not block when reaction channels check this out. I got introduced to Nightwish through reactions a couple of years ago and now it is my favorite band.
I fell in love with floors voice when I heard the entirety of Wacken open air 2013 and still love it now, Had a deep pit till Nightwish music brought me out of it, thank you Tuomas, and to the all of the other members of Nightwish, Troy, Emppu, Marco, and Kai, thank you for playing all the pieces to perfection! Can't wait till all the chaos finally goes down so we can hear your music live once again.
This song still leaves me speechless, sobbing, covered head to toe in goosebumps. After all these years. Truly the greatest song ever written, conceptualised, performed. You feel it within every inch of your soul. We were here!
Never ever I will get used to this masterpiece. How on earth was Tuomas able to create such a composition? This song goes beyond my own stellar imagination. Only our Floor could be able to handle such a masterpiece emotionally, technically and perspectionally right. Simply wow... 🤯
This is one of the finest songs ever written! And here, one of the very best interpretations too: Floor’s singing is pristine. Troy is a monster playing all these instruments too. Frigging Unbelievable!
What an honour to have Richard Dawkins on stage with us. It was a blast!

What nonsense are you talking about, what cosmic nature?
Believe me, I get shivers all over my body, especially at this part
I am 66 years old and only "found" Nightwish a few weeks ago, I must have been deaf until then, they are awesome.

14:16 - 14:47 The Evolution of Music
This has to be my favorite part of the song because it's so subtle that you might not catch it the first time around, but it's arguably the most brilliant part of the song in terms of storytelling.
Wow! I really never noticed this! Thanks a lot!!!
Brilliant observation I missed some of that but this was the second time listening to it now on to the third time.

"Ghost Love Score" was the love at first sight as when we heard Nightwish first time and loved them.
"The Poet and The Pendulum" was the mourning for the old times of Nightwish and calling for the new dark adventures
"The Greatest Show on Earth" was the great announcement of the epic era is about to come as Nightwish has finally established their best line-up!
Now it is the time for "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World"
this!
Yessss
This!! I’d just humbly add Song of myself. I think its lyrics are deep.
The best line-up so far. Most of us already made the assumption that they have reached their best line-up before and were proven wrong. I don't know if it is possible to get even better. But Nightwish is always full of surprises.
Nailed it my friend
One of the most beautiful pieces written by a modern composer. Tuomas is an absolute genius

I always love an appreciate how Emppu looks like he's just having a ball. All smiles all the time.

God, what a perfect band. A 20 minutes song that worth every second.
This song is an anthem for Humanity. The line, We Were Here, is tragically beautiful.

I get emotional every time I hear the "We were here" part. This song really helps you remember how small you are compared to the universe and the things that came before and the things that will come after. It reminds us there's going to be time when humans don't exist anymore or that we'll one day be considered an ancient civilization ourselves. Beautiful! Great comment keep spreading the word and Nightwish will keep going.
What an honest and true comment. Thank you very much.

The whole band smacked it clean out of the park and they realised it
Anyone who thinks that a scientific worldview is cold, emotionless, and spiritually unsatisfying needs to hear this song. One of the most beautiful and moving things I've ever heard.
A cool song does not change the message of despair. The universe was created, as were we.
@@jedicouncil66 If you see it as despair, you are missing the point of the song. It's about joy and wonder. It literally calls us humans "the lucky ones".

This song is giving me goose bumps everytime. For me personally, this is Tuomas' masterpiece.
It's up there, but "The Poet and the Pendulum" exists, so I have to politely disagree :)
And the song itself describes God’s masterpiece.

@@Powerranger-le4up Funny thing to read on a video starring Richard Dawkins (though it makes sense from a believer point of view)
I think recently a lot of people "found" nightwish, there seems to be a recent trend especially with "reaction"-videos.
Just the possibility to see them live in november in Hamburg keeps me happy AF!
🤘🏻
Very true..
100% agree, how could anyone witness this perfection and not be uplifted

The entire album is Nightwish's masterpiece so far. And Floor's voice is so rich and colorful interpreting the lyrics, it touches something deep inside of me. :)
Every time the ending happens, "we were here" I just get so overwhelmed with emotion and I sob. I don't know why. I can't help it. This song just really hits me
Annie Pollard Same ❤️
It should be emotional.
I sob hysterically every time.
Gives me the goosebumps. If the song ended there, it would easily be my favorite NW song.

J'étais là aussi, c'était incroyable !

Yes man, I've 60 years old. I'm understand you, believe me.
Děkuji, že jste tuhle kapelu poznal!
@Amirus ... It"s not a mess, it"s interesting.
Amirus you put into words what i couldnt & you did it perfectly
He was on stage with Floor, of course he was nervous. What an awesome video.
@@Johnboy33545 hihi, then i am nervous too😊
Being an evolutionary biology student and a metal music fan there cannot be a more perfect song which encapsulates my two likings. I cannot believe I have discovered it now!Dawkins Sir at the end..I am speechless😅
Listening to this song while at home: Fantastic.
Listening to this song at work while liberating the bones of a T. rex from 66 million year-old rock: Profound!
There is grandeur, indeed!
Chłopcy z placu broni
It's relieved that I'm not alone bro,I'm indian too
this is the most unexpected collab.
A great moment. In a sad, sad world this keeps me alive. If we all bond with nature again, humanity just might make ikt.
This got to be one of the best masterpiece Toumas ever wrote. And what a live performance! Floor is killing it, this is seriously amazing!
hell yea
Tuomas
Floor would kill singing a phone book ... in just about any genre you would care to mention.
Needs to be on a movie along with Ghost Love Score
Well, I rarely listen to so-called symphonic metal. But this... this is extraordinary. What a show-off of talent, musicianship, energy and pure joy this is ! What a fantastic show it must have been ! I'm totally blown off !!
One of the most dramatic and inspiring songs I've ever heard. I never cease to enjoy this, listening over and over. In all aspects, the combined efforts of Nightwish are just remarkable. Thank you all.
What an amazing privilege to say I was there That's what Nightwish do They take you on a memorable journey time after time ❤
I learned so many new English words from this song.
Nightwish is a history and moral lesson in itself.
Thank you Tuomas.
Absolutely outstanding. I have not played my Nightwish CDs for a while and this has reminded me that I 'must' get them out again and play them loud.
I sometimes wonder if my neighbours like them as much as I do. :D
WHAT?? HOW?"
I would have never in a thousand years imagine Dr. Richard Dawkins to be in live concert with Nightwish. Nighwish is already EPIC, and having him there in person makes it beyond so... it is surreal watching this on a screen. imagine being there in person.
Evolution, life, science and heavy metal are together.
Best song and composition ever.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Greatly reminds me of how complex God truly is.
It's another masterpiece of nightwish. Omg it's so light and dark at the same time. The instrumental is so perfect and Floor's voice sounds like the voice of a goddess. The noises of the animals are so epic. It's actually a shame that I haven't found this beautiful piece earlier. ❤❤❤
The animal part live is creepy as hell with marco growling/barking like a wolf! Wow was amazing!
Three of the "Animals" were Marco, Floor and Troy!
Hoo, haa haa!
A lifelong E.L.O. and Jeff Lynne fan here who has only recently discovered Nightwish having decided to take a look at what what all the fuss is about after hearing so much about them and......OMG. What a rabbit hole this has become. Long live Floor with Nightwish and the return of Marco (please 🙏) when the time is right 👍😊
I've been a lifelong Nightwish fan and recently discovered ELO and Jeff Lynne/Travelling Wilburys. He's an absolute legendary musician.
@@discostoo Good to hear that you have discovered the magic that is E.L.O. Yes, Tuomas and Jeff are up there with the best composers ever 👍😊
Perhaps someone will disagree, but at live concerts Floor has such an energy that charges not only the audience in the hall but also the rest of the band members who fall under her influence and play on the rise, with enthusiasm, it's just read on their face’s …
How on earth someone could disagree on your comment!! ❤️
Ever notice how HAPPY Emppu looks in EVERY video, from day 1 to now? Although, I didn't like H2N, so I'm not sure if he is so happy in those videos/performances.
Согласен с вами полностью иначе я бы не стал слушать
"A dream to understand"...singing by the worlds BEAUTY ....this is GENIUS!
There has never been a song written to respect the mother nature grander than this one. Massive respect 🎩
Thank you, Nightwish 🌹
Thank you Sir Richard Dawkins.🌹
Thank you God for creating this world. This song shows how powerful and amazing you are.
Nice THE masterpiece in high quality, love it!
Well, that is the way to popularize science, especially biology and evolution theory! Bravo!
Sergey Faynitskiy You think.
There are millions of people who only read the black cover book.

Theory is not proof of anything-
@@ari4681 Theory is not proof.
@@ari4681 If a scientific idea gets the title "theory", it has damn well been proven. The germ theory of disease and the theory of relativity are also "just" theories.
I can say in all honesty....I had never heard of Nightwish before three weeks ago...now I can't get enough. Thank you guys for renewing my faith in Music....I love Orchestral, I love Metal...thanks for combining my loves and making it work.
Must be the best ever song created in my lifetime. Listen to it every single day. The lyrics are impeccable, a true genius! ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful❤️❤️I LOVE NIGHTWISH🔥🔥🔥
@@Powerranger-le4up God's power IS simple nature
Great that you discovered them, but this is a really ignorant comment. You realize that there are many, many great Finnish bands? Finland is the metal capital of the world, probably. Besides the other Nordic countries.
@@HumppaBulgaria I also listen those bands and I like them, but Nightwish is a really love one discovering for me. Thanks
Love!
Thank you Nightwish, thank you Floor, Marco, Richard, thank you for all.....We were here!!!! We are still here!!! And we will prevail!!!
Previously my favorite longest track was Ghost Love Score, but damn, this blows it out of the water! This song definetly is the ultimate Nightwish song.
And Just like a few others on these comments, i'm in my 60s. My cd collection just got bigger after hearing and watching Nightwish over the last few months. Thank god that l dumped the Tv and found a far better life watching U-Tube instead. Life outside might be closed down (covid ) but I'm loving every moment watching and listerning to such Great Music. Take- care Everyone ...................................
One of the greatest Stage Performances of Mankind, and one of the greatest Songs of mankind, maybe the best! You will go down in history! Thanks for this masterpiece of excellence!!!
I dream of the day that we can sing and headbang together again watching our favorite metal band in the world and screaming "We we're Here" .... Be strong #nightwishers
I can't sing along to this song without crying my eyes out. Touches the soul every time.
LOL, my singing makes children cry! But I can't listen to this without tearing every time. Can't wait to see them in LA in May '22.
Its the best Song i ve ever heard
Esp the end bit
Oh my god how did I miss that until now? It is truly a masterpiece and made me cry! It is just so powerful! Nightwish you are amazing!! You exist, we live in the era with you. That makes us the lucky ones!
What a great band in the world and the greatest song in the universe!
This song makes us think who we are and how precious we are. Thanks guys.
There are good songs, there are great songs, there are extraordinary songs and then there is this song.
Finally someone to give evolution the reverence it deserves. Who says soul-touching music is the specialty of religion?
This song is one of the greatest things that ever happened to music. Wonderful.
Nice to have this "official" version rather than the Tampere one.
Please do not block when reaction channels check this out.
I got introduced to Nightwish through reactions a couple of years ago and now it is my favorite band.
The blocks are though done by YT in the first place.
I miss their shows! I love his music .. greetings from Argentina!
Never ever I will get used to this masterpiece. How on earth was Tuomas able to create such a composition? This song goes beyond my own stellar imagination. Only our Floor could be able to handle such a masterpiece emotionally, technically and perspectionally right. Simply wow... 🤯
Five have years passed, and I still remember this as one of the most magical concerts of my life!
This is one of the finest songs ever written! And here, one of the very best interpretations too: Floor’s singing is pristine. Troy is a monster playing all these instruments too. Frigging Unbelievable!
