This is even more difficult than putting the song on the internet and letting it spread by word of mouth. Also whoever wrote it should prove that he did it but I don't think he has any more way to do it. Most likely it's some demo or a limited run of some small town band that never got around to doing anything. It's also probable that in the meantime whoever composed it has forgotten and/or passed away... but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that it's actually an artful work by the guy who claims to have found this song again
Perfect song for guardians of galaxy! Especially a blowing up stuff risky end of world scene. Fits starlord depression and song choices to a T! Also, saw 1 comment about how it's the lyrical story of growing up in cold war/ threats of war which was interesting. My initial impression was a happy sounding song but man singing is sad/depressed/given up. Strange reading the comment that lyrics describe the threat of nuclear war & apparently on point no sun ?
Its finally over, the search for the most mysterious song on the internet has concluded. The band, Fex, is going to get together to re-record the song soon.
Ain't that full recording an already edited tape? It's been said that they had cut the announcer's speech in-between the songs, and it's noticeable in the full 46-min tape
@@MilesDoodlesi wish we had the sounds of the person speaking in the middle of them, they usually say the name of the song and author before playing it
@@Gazmj4 That's honestly cool, guess that means there's a possibility she's working hard to dig more into it, and or hopefully get the ones in poor condition restored.
I still have a strong feeling that this was a demo song. They said new wave was pretty common during the 80's so some songs are pretty much discarded. And also the DJ's might have missed this one. The record was unfortunately thrown away long ago because like I said, new wave was common during those times so people don't pay attention to that genre that much because of how common it is. Lots of artists are also in new wave. I believe this was a local band/artist. As long as the band or artist who made this doesn't show up, our chances of finding its origin are very far. Worse is if they passed away already. But still, even if they weren't found, I'm still thankful that they made this because this is a really good song.
reposted from "r/Lostwave" from "u/rocketteam" " For me it is. It's been more than three years since the song got a lot of attention on the Internet and the Statues In Motion hypothesis is the most solid lead of the ones that we have. It was recognized by Billy Knight, the only surviving member, as far as we know, of the group as one of the few songs that they recorded but did not make it to the LP, along with others, such as Pinky Complex. Also TMS singer's voice and Alvin Dean's voice is identical. The most logical explanation to me is that, after SIM disbanded, Alvin Dean took the lyrics of the unreleased songs with him to Germany, where he re-recorded them. "Like the Wind" was initially conceived as a synth-pop song, similar to the ones in the SIM LP, but Alvin Dean changed it to a more rock style. Then, the song was given to the NDR and played by some DJ in 1984, thus being recorded by Darius. The actual whereabouts of Alvin Dean, whose real name is Giorgios Dalabiras, is unkown. Neverthless, it seems that he continued to be involved in the music industry for quite a while in the 80s, changing his alias a bit and recording more songs, such as this one. According to the information that we have, I see Alvin Dean as one person with a privileged voice, who tried to become famous by making music in different styles. We will have to wait and let the investigation continue to provide us for more information about him... "
I really doubt it's Statues in Motion. For one Billy Knight cannot produce any concrete evidence, a tape or even a name or copyright filing. Germany has their own version of ASCAAP/BMI and you'd expect a signed band to have their discography registered so there'd be some trail. Otherwise he's claiming they released an unreleased, unnamed song to the public and that just seems stupid. I think it sounds like Alvin Dean, it has elements that seem kind of like SIM but it also has a lot in common with many post punk bands too. I think Billy Knight made a claim because no one else did and not because he created it. I hope there's a surviving member left but there's a very good chance it's a band that's lost to time.
Seriously I don't believe this was recorded anytime before 85. There's something about it, I can't place it. But it just gives off some vibes of a later recording date.
If we found EKT, Waste My Time, Stop Making Me Cry, Back to Bed, La Canción de Alicia and many others, I’m very confident that this song’ll be found this year.
Okay, so we know what songs are before and after the Mysterious Song. That SHOULD at least help the search for those who are going through the playlists and records...
@@backflipmann yes, but the artists are still in alphabetical order. Maybe it's just a casuality. I don't understand the fade-in in the newly found tape. I mean there are at least three possibilities: the fade was added later, it was already there (so it can't be the same recording), or it was but was removed with a software. Lydia, later, posted the new recording WITHOUT the fade-in.
Also it doesn’t help as much as you’d think it was a mix tape so some of these songs probably aren’t even in the same order he recorded them in yknow? Kind of like the synthesizer lead which all it did really was confirm knowledge we already had that it’s an 80s song even if music for young people had a full recorded archive up finding one of the songs on this paper list likely wouldn’t help at all instead you’d literally have to sit through HUNDREDS of hours waiting for Paul or his co DJ or intern to say “hey WPXI radio here coming at you live at 1230 we are bringing you a brand new song the kids are loving it it’s called ‘like the wind’ and the band is ‘the unknown band’ hope you all enjoy” or something like that realistically this song has reached so many people with no results likely the only way to solve this is to listen to every single song ever made or at least every 80s indie post punk song ever made and that’s still hundreds of hours
I think the singer is singing "Locked Away", or "Blind the Wind. This is Lydias clean version. The song is awesome. I love how it gets the imagination going. I think its from a VHS movie, or from a local band in East Germany. Hopefully this gets solved soon.
East Germany? Stuck behind the Iron Curtain? I partly believe that theory. Maybe that's why it's so mysterious, because this kind of music wasn't necessarily accepted in the Eastern Bloc. Perhaps it was from a pirated station?
I feel like everyone needs to play this in East Germany to every people or every houses to see if they remember hearing this song. Definitely a stupid idea but who knows...
it is actually his lip smacking, apparently if the recording was 2 seconds longer, he would be supposed to say the song's name and the producer.. If only those 2 seconds were here right know, this all would be solved
Quick little thing. For those of you who are wondering why the song has a fade in, I don't know either. But here is my theory. Darius loved playing music to his mix tape. And so one day, he decided to copy some songs over to a different mix tape, so his sister Lydia can listen to music too. So he added some effects to some songs, and early fade ins, and fade outs, including TMS. He decided to add a fade in to TMS, so it would add more buildup to the song. However, Lydia didn't know about this tape until very recently. Talk about not using a gift. Also, the reason this version of TMS sounds so much better than the other versions, is because Darius's tape was used a lot more often. He pretty much played it every day. So when he found the tape, it was in pretty bad condition. But Lydia's tape, was barely used. If not, never used. Leading to a more crisp version of TMS. Hope this answered some questions.
Just had a thought of solving who wrote TMMS: Don’t think the songs are in alphabetical order, but rather the bands who wrote the songs respectively. Sad Lovers & Giants - 3 Lines Statues in Motion - (Like the Wind) Screaming Dead - Serenade of Suicide It makes sense, because each of the bands start with the letter “S” and I don’t feel that it is a coincidence, but likely a clue. (Could be wrong, but, again, it was just a random thought that popped into my mind while I had a shower.)
It’s possible, but then they risk confusion with Question Mark and the Mysterians, an American band which had a #1 Billboard chart hit with the song “96 Tears” in the 1960s. But there are many instances of two or more bands having the same name, usually by accident and without them knowing about each other. Usually they are each smaller local bands; most people are bright enough to not name their band after a pre existing already well-known one. An example is my friend Paul Meredith: he had a band in high school called “Pandora’s Hope” which I thought was a pretty good band name or at least original. Then for unknown reasons (music style / personnel change?) he renamed his band “Abigail”. Within a few months or a year of the renaming, and uploading tracks online (maybe MySpace Music?) he got slapped with I think a cease-and-desist letter from some metal band from the East or Midwest who were ALSO called “Abigail” and who had been around longer. So he finally changed the band name to “Whiskey Change” before they broke up. But it makes me wonder: there could be half a dozen or more small local bands just called “Abigail” much less any number of other reasonably common names or words. So maybe there was another band just called “?” (Question Mark).

It is because the new wave was rocking hard in Poland back in the 80s. The music is similiar and back then Polish rock scene was huge. This is the reason you feel you heard that song before.
because this tape is the same recording as the original, but since the OG was played that much times, the quality got worse, but it is indeed the same recording
This reminds me of the raw metalic sound of Australia Rock through the 80's and into the 90's. Its funny, its playing through my head since listening to it earlier. One or two thoughts on the origin. The creator or creators of this song have long forgotten it. It was the only song they ever made. Or they're no longer living. Its been almost 40 years... meaning the creators would now be between their mid to late 50's and late 60's. Thats assuming they no older 25 to 30 when they produced the song.
Australian here; I remember hearing this song. The fact there were thousands of Australian garage bands and just as many backyard recording studios. Time passing buy; likely the original band has long gone.

I am not really sure if " Statues in Motion " made it. I am sure other bands made the song, either in Eastern Europe, or Western. Some people have noted that the song's vocals are a mix of English, German, and Russian. The singer has a pronounced accent that suggests they may have come from behind the Iron Curtain.
"Unless we're screaming" is what i hear instead of in the young and restless dresming". Oh phonetically that could also mean, In her yern and rest for screaming
@@Johnmightbehere Right. If they were between 20 and 25, they would now be between 58 and 63. And could easily still be alive. Even if they were a few years older. Don't know if people that age would pick up on this song though, I am 50 and not on Reddit etc. and only found out about it today. Yes, late. It just popped up in my reommendations.
@@HistoryandReviewsI mean they not terribly old. They prolly in their late 50s or early 60s. They might not know about the virality of it cause mainly younger people are interested in the case.
I’m 35 and have been on Reddit for several years and only learned about this song’s existence like several days ago. And now it’s stuck in my head 😆 (although it comes and goes; “Rambling in Rhythm” by Arthur Schutt was stuck in my head yesterday). So it’s quite possible the artist(s), if still alive, either don’t yet know people are looking for their song, or maybe just recently found out and are deciding whether to come forward (which may be difficult, given how many other people have claimed the song and then been pronounced “fake” by Redditors, usually with little or no evidence either direction). I mean, many indie musicians do want or have wanted to become famous; but going from either “obscure garage band” or “local band who only played a few shows and broke up” sending in a demo tape; being completely forgotten; and then tape/tune revived and becoming massively famous, is quite a switch. That would be psychological whiplash. So if the artist is around still, they may or may not enjoy now being this “famous”.
Like the wind You can't out-run it Take the consequence of living There's no space There's no tomorrow There's no sense of communication Checkin' in, checkin' out But the sun will never shine They're ignored anyway It's just a blank of your mind Like the wind You're born to suffer Let a smile be your companion There's no ____ (blades? place? blanks?) And there's no sorrow In their young and restless dreaming Checkin' in, checkin' out But the sun will never shine They're ignored anyway It's just a blank of your mind Checkin' in, checkin out But the Sun will never shine They're ignored anyway In it's just a blank of your mind Checkin' in, checkin out It's just summer dew They're within, they're without That's the real excuse The song seems to be the lead singer admonishing someone nihilistic for their dour outlook on the fleeting nature of life and how the subject of the song seems to use it as an excuse to not try or care in regard to, well...anything. Quite possibly the subject of the song is abusing drugs and using said outlook and their belief in the futility and ultimately meaninglessness of an individual life in the grand scheme of the cosmos as an excuse for their choice to try to run away from their pain by using drugs. "What I do and how I live means nothing in the big picture and to live is to suffer" if you will. That's my take anyway, make of it what you will.
It’s Like the wind You can't out-run it Take the consequence of living There's no space There's no tomorrow There's no sense communication Checkin' in, checkin’ out But the sun will never shine Paranoid anyway and it’s a weight on your mind Like the wind You're born to suffer Let a smile be your companion There's no place And there's no sorrow Fears the young and restless dreaming Checkin' in, checkin' out But the sun will never shine Paranoid anyway and it’s always on your mind Checkin' in, checkin out It's the sum of views They're within, they're without That's the real excuse X3 Not bad though thanks ❤ It’s a song about the young 80’s gen living with the meaninglessness and nihilism of being children of the bomb.. and the paranoid and hopeless atmosphere of conflicting international politics at the time.. it follows.. It’s about the cold war really.. a hot topic at the time.. “like the wind you can’t outrun it” - nuclear fallout- The spys the threat ‘within’ and senseless annihilation is the threat ‘without’.. The sum of views is a reference to game theory and mutually assured destruction, aka the MAD doctrin that supposedly prevented the use of such weapons.. that’s the real excuse for growing up under a cloud of fear of are mutually assured annihilation. Or alternatively it’s possible that the line reads “it’s just someone’s views” which would make the exact same comment only about politicians with pointless perspectives that lead to ridiculous such outcomes.. and a paranoid and nihilistic atmosphere. The whole song actually makes perfect sense.. it’s not just 80’s teenage angst. No drugs involved! For instance during a nuclear winter the Sun will quite literally never shine.. If the wind suffers because it’s poisoned with fallout you’re born to suffer because you were born in a time period where annihilation is a distinct possibility.. might as well smile about it.. I could go on but you get the point a lot of songs at the time were on the topic of the Cold War because it was on everyone’s minds all the time that they could just simply disappear in the blink of an eye with a flash so blinding that even if you didn’t see it it would leave you blind.. yeah it’s definitely a banger of a song no pun intended.. Here is another example of that type of sentiment- ua-cam.com/video/wHylQRVN2Qs/v-deo.html Colonel Bagshot six day war is another one about the bomb there are lots of them these types of songs frankly I think there should be more of them being produced these days but it seems that everyone has forgotten how horrific cold wars are.. it’s almost worse than an active war because there’s always this constant threat..

This song exists as mere conundrum. Nothing anybody could state to its existence beyond perception will be believed. Standing in the way between goodhearted researchers and answers are the artists themself. Well aware of the global search the people responsible for this song refuse to take responsibility for it. They have personal reasons returning to before the fateful day of transmission. For those very reasons the song from inception was "uncredited" as it was intended to be. Cryptic be it may there is no nefarious intent underneath this song's creation. Its goal to send a message and send a message it did, there was never reason to unmask its creators. Commercial success was never the goal.
Maybe it's nothing, but the first songs in this "compilation" are recorded in alphabetical order, TMS included. Maybe the songs were on the air in this order? I'm just saying. But why this version have an initial transition? Thank you.
Just my two cents but the lead synth track does not sound like a DX7. It sounds more like it's younger 4op siblings like a DX21, DX27 or DX100. These sounded a lot thinner, brighter and had less complex sounds. Granted you could program sounds on one with two operators turned down on a DX7. I've got a DX7 and a DX21. only caveat would be that these were released later (1985) Background synth track does sound like a polyphonic CS with the modulation slider up. That would be easy to pull off on an SK15.

But still, even if they weren't found, I'm still thankful that they made this because this is a really good song.
reposted from "r/Lostwave"
from "u/rocketteam"
" For me it is.
😉✌
Seriously I don't believe this was recorded anytime before 85. There's something about it, I can't place it. But it just gives off some vibes of a later recording date.
Check out "strangers" by the sinking ships, it was recorded in 1980 and is the closet we have to the song
And it turns out SIM had nothing to do with it. Knew it wasnt them, and Billy was full of it.

Okay, so we know what songs are before and after the Mysterious Song. That SHOULD at least help the search for those who are going through the playlists and records...
Also, the first songs are in alphabetical order: N, P, SA, SC, SH.
Indeed. But as another UA-camr commented in a comment below, the song after is "Serenade of Suicide" by Screaming Dead, rather than "Two Hearts"!
Wasn’t it later learned that Paul likely wasn’t the one who played the song but one of his co DJ or intern did?
Mistery aside, this song sounds great! I can't believe nobody knows anything about it.
I think the singer is singing "Locked Away", or "Blind the Wind. This is Lydias clean version. The song is awesome. I love how it gets the imagination going.
I think its from a VHS movie, or from a local band in East Germany. Hopefully this gets solved soon.
Sounds like locked away to me
East Germany? Stuck behind the Iron Curtain? I partly believe that theory. Maybe that's why it's so mysterious, because this kind of music wasn't necessarily accepted in the Eastern Bloc. Perhaps it was from a pirated station?

That is the most plausible thing I heard about the song
Now this whole story deserves a movie o Netflix doc

@@AstridOWOwho are these two ppl?

Up in the echelon of catchiest songs ever.
Just had a thought of solving who wrote TMMS:
Don’t think the songs are in alphabetical order, but rather the bands who wrote the songs respectively.
Sad Lovers & Giants - 3 Lines
Statues in Motion - (Like the Wind)
Screaming Dead - Serenade of Suicide
It makes sense, because each of the bands start with the letter “S” and I don’t feel that it is a coincidence, but likely a clue.
(Could be wrong, but, again, it was just a random thought that popped into my mind while I had a shower.)
Statues in Motion didn’t make this, though. Whang did a video about it pretty much debunking that lead.
@@FNTM2k3 Ah, thank you for the clarification/info; hopefully the band who wrote the song will be found sometime in the near future.

What if the band is literally named “?” Think about it

Honestly that’s a good point. The answer could’ve been in our faces the whole time.
That's the name of one of Xxxtentacion's albums, maybe he knew something (RIP).

The song seems to be the lead singer admonishing someone nihilistic for their dour outlook on the fleeting nature of life and how the subject of the song seems to use it as an excuse to not try or care in regard to, well...anything. Quite possibly the subject of the song is abusing drugs and using said outlook and their belief in the futility and ultimately meaninglessness of an individual life in the grand scheme of the cosmos as an excuse for their choice to try to run away from their pain by using drugs. Not bad though thanks ❤
It’s a song about the young 80’s gen living with the meaninglessness and nihilism of being children of the bomb.. and the paranoid and hopeless atmosphere of conflicting international politics at the time.. it follows..
It’s about the cold war really.. a hot topic at the time.. “like the wind you can’t outrun it” - nuclear fallout-
The spys the threat ‘within’ and senseless annihilation is the threat ‘without’..
I could go on but you get the point
a lot of songs at the time were on the topic of the Cold War because it was on everyone’s minds all the time that they could just simply disappear in the blink of an eye with a flash so blinding that even if you didn’t see it it would leave you blind.. yeah it’s definitely a banger of a song no pun intended..
Here is another example of that type of sentiment- ua-cam.com/video/wHylQRVN2Qs/v-deo.html
Colonel Bagshot six day war is another one about the bomb there are lots of them these types of songs frankly I think there should be more of them being produced these days but it seems that everyone has forgotten how horrific cold wars are.. it’s almost worse than an active war because there’s always this constant threat..

Either “listening” or “living” but dude you solved what the lyrics were spot on! Now to find the damn artist
That's what I hear:
Blind the wind,
You came here running,
Take the consequence for living.
There's no space,
There's no tomorrow,
There's no sensed communication.
Check it in, check it out,
But the sun will never shine.
Paranoid, anyway,
In the subways of your mind.
Blind the wind,
You're going somewhere,
Let a smile be your companion.
There's no place,
And there's no sorrow.
In the young and restless dreamer.
Check it in, check it out,
But the sun will never shine.
Paranoid, anyway,
In the subways of your mind.
Check it in, check it out,
But the sun will never shine.
Paranoid, anyway,
In the subways of your mind.
Check it in, check it out,
It's the summer blues,
Tear it in, check it out,
It's the real excuse.
Check it in, check it out,
It's the summer blues,
Tear it in, check it out,
It's the real excuse.

my interpreted lyrics:
Like the wind,
you came here running.
Take the consequence of living.
There's no space,
there's no tomorrow,
There's no sense from you in patience.
Check it in, check it out,
but the sun will never shine.
There's a long dirty way
in the subways of your mind.
Like the wind,
you're born sour.
Let a smile be your companion.
There's no place,
and there's no sorrow.
Feel the honour of the [?].
Check it in, check it out,

Check it in, check it out,

There's a long dirty way

What if the band is simply called "Das Fragezeichen"?
Mine version of lyrics:
Blind the wind,
You came here runnin'
Chain the consequence of leaving
There's no spaced
There's no tomorrow
There's no-sense communication
Check it in, check it out,
Or the sun will never shine
Let them know of any way
In the subways of your mind
Blind the wind,
You're going somewhere,
Let the smile be your companion
There's no place
And there's no sorrow
In the young and restless dreaming
Check it in, check it out,
Or the sun will never shine
Let them know of any way
In the subways of your mind
[Instrumental]
Check it in, check it out,
Or the sun will never shine
Let them know of any way
In the subways of your mind
Check it in, check it out,
What's the summer muse
Tear it in, tear it out
It's a real excuse
Thats fukin ivan from men without hats. Listen to safety dance. The pronouciation of words is the exact same. The synthesizer hes using is the same one too. They were also alive during the same time. And ivan did leave MWH made a solo album. Could be one of his demos. But i never said it was made in this dimension 😂

This sounds familiar... Like i heard it before
i think i heard it in a commercial or movie or something or in a store
Maybe from the subways of your mind...
Maybe it's nothing, but the first songs in this "compilation" are recorded in alphabetical order, TMS included. Maybe the songs were on the air in this order? I'm just saying. But why this version have an initial transition? Thank you.
Person that recorded the tape mastered the radio host dialogue out, so it has a fade to prevent a jump cut.

I've got a DX7 and a DX21.
only caveat would be that these were released later (1985)
Background synth track does sound like a polyphonic CS with the modulation slider up. That would be easy to pull off on an SK15.
no no NOOOO!!! then we are onto a biggie of a search.
Well. Like the wind or most mysterious song on internet was record on radio station call: Norddeutscher Rundfunk. Or commonly shortened to NDR, is a public radio and television broadcaster, based in Hamburg to today now. So... Yeah. Recorded in 1984, West Part of Germany, in town of Hamburg 🇩🇪🎸🎹📻📺📼

It's a Christian brandl demo song he died sadly before it could be fully produced ronnie urini the instrumentalist released this info how it got to a radio station who knows.
That has not substantial evidence and the lyrics used in the UA-cam video don't match up correctly
It was debunk as it was confirmed by the former band member

@@Gazmj4 Hey , I remember that before an year, I was just searching for the author on UA-cam , and then I found Whang's video , and there he said that its a live recording of unknown underground band, recorded from concert, and that recording was used as some advertisement song(or something similar) But now , I just can't find that video . Maybe he deleted it? Why would he do it , if he want to solve the mystery ? 🤔. Before few months , I just watched the UA-cam series which was showing the most popular recording studios in my country (Czechia). In one of the episode , there was the oldest one studio. There the owner of the studio said , that a lots of songs in 90s and 80s were recorded by the sound engineer while the band was having a concert and they weren't even need to go to the recording studio. What if they just wanted to stay unknown , and Paul baskerville got a Casette from sound engineer ?
