Talking Hands is so catchy! I bet if these guys were in somewhere like LA instead of Germany, they would've been massive in the mid-to-late 80s! Unfortunately, the music industry is biased towards Anglosphere countries like the US, UK, and Australia (but mostly the US and UK)
my favourite thing about this is that all three of these songs sound completely different from each other and have their own distinct styles. this is just straight up good music all around.
While part of me loved the mystery and wishes it was never solved, I've listened to the EP four times in a row already and I'm so happy for FEX. These guys absolutely rock and deserve every bit of recognition they have coming to them.
This just goes to show that there is so much undiscovered music out there people don’t know about or forgot about… which is why it’s important to scour the aisles of your thrift store for extra goodies.
We not only won, we won so hard. Original recording, all band members alive and giving an interview, and multiple new songs. I was never expecting all that.
This whole thing is such an interesting story, with a satisfying conclusion. Thank you for the upload. Reminds me of when I recorded a song broadcast from 91.7 Drexel University radio in 1991-2; the band was called Crashblack, and the song "Rhythms" (although I didn't know the title at the time). I lost the cassette tape, but I did remember the band name and searched record stores all over the US for years, and again online in the earlier days of YT, then gave up my search. I'm happy to say the record has been uploaded on YT about ~10 years ago, the whole album is a Darkwave banger. From that one song teenage me needed to hear the whole album, worth the wait.
This closes a mystery, but opens a second one, this Subways In Your Mind got more synths and the bass line sounds a little bit more loaded, so the version we knew all this time is maybe a demo or an earlier version....
There's three versions to this date: the one that was aired on the radio, a live concert that was uploaded on Reddit tonight, and this studio version. Probably they sent the demo to the radio first and then recorded this one later on
I'm a casual follower of TMS. Just by chance today, I decided i wanted to listen to the TMS clip tonight while I work in my hotel room. What a surprise to find that earlier today the source actually came out! Pretty damn cool!!! Now I'm distracted by listending to this and reading the subreddit, so I'm not getting any work done.
Okay... this tape has to be one of the best finds in lostwave history, if not lost media as a whole! Not only does it find a complete version of the song, the name of it, and the name of the band that made it, but it also throws two other FEX songs in there for good measure. This is truly impressive.
I love Subways of Your Mind but I'm OBSESSED with Heart In Danger! Reminds me so much like Julian Copeland. FEX FECKIN ROCKS! I can't believe after all these years we now have 4 FEX songs (Subways of your Mind, Heart in Danger, Talking Hands and from the Zeus comp, Jenny) and 3 separate versions of Subways (original, this one, and the live version) and it's all amazing! Between FEX and Who's Who (Ulterior Motives), I'm convinced the time rift has opened.
I like how at 3:41 the high pitch of the synthesizer sound like the high pitched squealing brakes on a subway train, neat detail whether it was intentional or not
Subways of Your Mind is an absolute banger of course. Coupled that with the other two songs makes me think this band could have been as big as Duran Duran or Depeche Mode

The reward of searching for lostwave is that you may find more gems than expected and these 2 extra tracks are impressive. "Subways of Your Mind" may very deservedly be this years' xmas number 1 but "Talking Hands" will be a standout track on the hugely anticipated 2025 album! 😎🎹
I'm not gonna lie, The other songs on this EP are really damn good. I understand why people wanted to find this band so much, They have really good music.
Honestly listening through this EP/demo tape, I can really appreciate the musical talent of the band members. Their ability to blend some pretty unique melodies together (especially in Talking Hands) in a way that is pleasant on the ears is probably better than some mainstream acts of the time.
You can tell that it's exactly the same guy, yet he sounds nothing like the guy from Statues in Motion in this version. The degradation of the media really did change a lot about the song. I can actually understand the words this time.
Ooh love that "Talking Hands" song...kind of has Talking Heads meets DEVO vibes. Hope we hear more from this band now that they've finally been "discovered" (and not by some A&R guy, by the whole freakin' internet.)
Finally hearing this tune in its entirety with a solid level of fidelity literally felt like experiencing a new color for the first time, there are few words… I cried hard dudes, we made it.

The fact that a couple of songs from the same band came out after one song was found, and that band still being very much alive and still in contact with each other is astounding.
They are actually re-recording "Subways of Your Mind,' apparently. There's a reddit post about it with proof. It's actually insane how the internet brought the band back together.
I still can't believe that one of Internet's greatest mysteries has been finally solved. This EP has become one of my favourite albums, that I've heard so far. It's great to discover new bands and new albums that no one hasn't heard at all or in ages.
A song with no name and a lost band... it's like that 2000's urban legend of Halley's Rubik's 5 girls and their 80's song "Lollipop Girl", which everyone remembered in spanis from the radio but no one recorded. No one knew, either, what happened to the band after 2001. They became known when a radio announcer revealed that one of the girls was actually a boy forced to feminize "contractually" by losing a sheet music bet to the girls in the band. The song told that story and was a temporary hit in the 2000s. The tape and the band are lost and the identities of Rytha, Elody, Luna, Ermony and Bubblegum are unknown.
Cue a thousand people claiming to have been listening to this the whole time.... 😁 Hearing the whole song, it's even more impressive than the unnamed hook ever was. I like it.
Ok, i change my mind, this version of the song is the best and I'm really happy that all of this finally come to an end. I can't wait to hear more from them. Now we only need to find Imagination Lives and Light The Laterns and my life would be complete ✨🚀

All I can say is that…. This is what unity and power of the internet feels like x
my favourite thing about this is that all three of these songs sound completely different from each other and have their own distinct styles. this is just straight up good music all around.
I'm crying now. I really think that was impossible to find this song and now it's finally here
Talking Hands is a banger. 👌
HEY HEY, MY FRIEND... YOU GOT, THESE LONELY TALKING HANDS!
So good, loved all 3 songs!
While part of me loved the mystery and wishes it was never solved, I've listened to the EP four times in a row already and I'm so happy for FEX. These guys absolutely rock and deserve every bit of recognition they have coming to them.
In the end, the song really was that slow, and the singer really was that deep.
This just goes to show that there is so much undiscovered music out there people don’t know about or forgot about… which is why it’s important to scour the aisles of your thrift store for extra goodies.
Or scour the depths of the Web for stuff with no views, I've legitimately found bangers with 0 views
@@DMack6464Any you care to share? Obscure music is so awesome
The best part is the band is actually pretty good across the three songs. What a great day for the lost media community!
This closes a mystery, but opens a second one, this Subways In Your Mind got more synths and the bass line sounds a little bit more loaded, so the version we knew all this time is maybe a demo or an earlier version....
Honestly it sounds more complete, maybe it’s a final version and the radio aired a demo tape.
@@N0ah_Games I think some people had assumed the one we had before was a demo anyway.
Either it's a demo or it was just that degraded
There's three versions to this date: the one that was aired on the radio, a live concert that was uploaded on Reddit tonight, and this studio version. Probably they sent the demo to the radio first and then recorded this one later on
@@TristanLackey nah this has more stuff in it...ending and whatnot

Between FEX and Who's Who (Ulterior Motives), I'm convinced the time rift has opened.
yes, i believe that we have jumped to the good timeline. welcome and congrats
It's incredible that through the tireless efforts of internet sleuths we went from a low quality 1 minute clip to a full demo tape.
Thanks for dropping the entire EP!
People are insanely good at finding lost media this year!
Looks like I'll be adding this to my playlist until the band finally re-records this and puts it into streaming platforms!🔥
Everyone's been on such a roll this year!
The reward of searching for lostwave is that you may find more gems than expected and these 2 extra tracks are impressive. "Subways of Your Mind" may very deservedly be this years' xmas number 1 but "Talking Hands" will be a standout track on the hugely anticipated 2025 album! 😎🎹
The search is over 🎧❤️🎵
But for me it will always be "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" 👌
Agreed
It's not that any longer.

I'm not gonna lie, The other songs on this EP are really damn good. I understand why people wanted to find this band so much, They have really good music.
This is truly one of the BEST finds of the entire year- Actually probably the BEST find of this entire decade
Honestly listening through this EP/demo tape, I can really appreciate the musical talent of the band members. Their ability to blend some pretty unique melodies together (especially in Talking Hands) in a way that is pleasant on the ears is probably better than some mainstream acts of the time.
The moral of the story:
“Hard work pays off.”
HAPPINESS IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR
11:22 that synth solo.. just my favorite part of this legendary tape
Finally hearing this tune in its entirety with a solid level of fidelity literally felt like experiencing a new color for the first time, there are few words…
I cried hard dudes, we made it.
All the songs are very good, they should release as it is, physically and digitally.
Gosh I Love the new version even more! PLUS THE TWO NEW AMAZING SONGS! AH! THEY ARE AMAZING!!! Wonderful job finding it people! I was here!
I can't believe these songs were lost for so long... THESE ARE ABSOLUTE BANGERS!
So, as it turns out, all 3 songs are real bangers. Unironically enjoying their sound a lot.
What a year for the Lost Media community! They found not only 1 but 3 absolute masterpieces!!
I'm really glad Subways of your Mind isn't their only good song, they had real talent.
Together, we rescued art from obscurity. Sometimes, there is a chance for talent to shine out and be cherished. It just may take a lifetime.
These songs are so damn catchy. All of these are prime earworm material. Man, I wish this was a full album, but I'm happy for what we have
the prechorus + chorus of Talking Hands are insanely catchy, holy fuck
Ooh, "Talking Hands" is EXCELLENT
Am I the only one thinking this Song made it back in the 80s for an amazing Video?! Can not be. FEX ROCKS!!!!
They didn't miss. All these songs are unique and fun.
Как-будто я встретил друга из детства от которого были небольшие воспоминания. Но он были самые крутые и хорошие. И вот он снова появился,жив и здоров...🎉
The fact that a couple of songs from the same band came out after one song was found, and that band still being very much alive and still in contact with each other is astounding.
This song slaps so hard, I am glad the internet found this gem.
Wonder what was FEX's reaction to this, they might be going, what, people still like 80s music today?
They're happy about it, apparently.
They are actually re-recording "Subways of Your Mind,' apparently. There's a reddit post about it with proof. It's actually insane how the internet brought the band back together.
Sounds like another success story. Nice
Sounds like another success story. Nice
Sounds like another success story. Nice
The vocal style and melodies are very reminiscent of Echo & The Bunnymen... Amazing songs! I like it!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
holy SHIT these other 2 are absolute bangers
subways brings you in, the other two keep you
The fact we get 2 more bangers that no one even knew about is awesome feels like a reward, now we just got to find where Jimmy Hoffa was buried
I can't believe Like The Wind was actually found after so long, 2024 is truly the Year of Lostwave :'D
It's interesting that almost nobody has probably heard the other two songs since the 80s until now.
I still can't believe that one of Internet's greatest mysteries has been finally solved. This EP has become one of my favourite albums, that I've heard so far. It's great to discover new bands and new albums that no one hasn't heard at all or in ages.
They were very talented, how did the world not know them?
Hearing the whole song, it's even more impressive than the unnamed hook ever was. I like it.
Love the drums 🥁
Ok, i change my mind, this version of the song is the best and I'm really happy that all of this finally come to an end. I can't wait to hear more from them. Now we only need to find Imagination Lives and Light The Laterns and my life would be complete ✨🚀
When I saw there's a track titled "Talking Hands" my mind instantly went to the Talking Heads.
Me too
So now we have Talking Heads and Talking Hands. What we miss?
@@Sobel_Robel talking feet
And it sounds like a talking heads song
The riff sounds like the live version of Crosseyed And Painless
