Just three months ago, I started listening again to "The Most Mysterious Song", or "Like the Wind" as I'd settled on calling it, for the first time in a few years. I read up on recent developments in the search, how a few people had been pinpointed or come forward as the writer/singer, but with inconclusive or sketchy evidence. I started truly believing that the person or group behind this song would never be found - that they were likely either dead, or one of the people that claimed the song and would never be able to truly prove it was theirs beyond a doubt, forever leaving it a mystery. I never could've imagined that just three months later, I'd be sitting here, listening to the third or fourth unique recording I've heard this week of the song I now know is Subways of Your Mind by FEX...
This is amazing! I know this is from the 80s, but with all of those people in the crowd, I'm surprised the title and band name went under the radar all this time.
I mean, trying to remember something from that long ago would be difficult. Large-scale search for the song started in 2019, so it had been at least 35 years. Try remembering a song you heard once 34-35 years ago from a band that didn't survive, it would be nearly impossible. Since people know the name of the song now, it's much easier to find. It's easy to search for a name, it's not that easy to search for a sound.
Look, I went to see Iron Maiden last night in Pittsburgh, PA. I think this was the 5th or 6th time I've seen them. I first saw them in 1987, and a band called Waysted opened.
