Booting Threadripper without a cooler mounted can be difficult - it's a _huge_ LGA socket, so it needs a lot of pressure on the IHS to ensure contact for all the 4000+ pins. It might be that your POST error is just a CPU detection error from insufficient mounting pressure.

First try to replace the jumper on the network resistor with a 0402 330ohm. Test and if not, later, try replacing the missing 0402 resistor with 0 ohm and the broken one too. You can check on the asus page very high resolution images where you can check that the missing component is a resistor.

I would not think of booting a Threadripper without a heatsink, not even for a few seconds. Those things are 300W beasts, they will overheat in a split second. Also, an SSD plugged in but not screwed down may not help the booting process :)

Really should try reseating the CPU. Threadripper, Threadripper Pro and Epyc CPUs (TR4 and sWRX8 sockets) are *REALLY* finicky about even mounting pressure, not uncommon to need at least a couple of seating attempts before it will post.

Q Code 00 is no CPU or CPU not recognized. Try with a different CPU or check the VRM. Can happen because of BIOS also but the customer did try the second BIOS and hence I suspect the CPU or the VRM.

    Great video!
You should have tried to put a capacitor instead like the one below it and test if it will work.
Although the 3 pin chip points that this should be a resistor like you mentioned in the video.
The SuperIO has alot of capacitors around it so it may be the issue.
And you can try searching the chip on the internet, sometimes you can find a little of information about the pinout of the chip.
Great video and content as always!😊

a capacitor would have a path leading to ground that's why he tested the pads beforehand to rule out it being a missing cap
that said these type of boards can be a pain in the ass to diagnose because any little thing can cause it to not post..improper ram config, missing fan, triggered sensor etc

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 00 error code is corrupt the data on the CMOS on ASUS motherboards.
You can download the correct BIOS software on a flash drive and put it in the bioslot on the motherboard.
And another reason why I like Asus because they have dual BIOS. So depending on what board you have you can flip a switch and it should switch to the other BIOS. However any overclocking he may have done on the original bios will be gone.
ASUS motherboards are relatively easier to troubleshoot. Hence why I'm a fanboy.

QCODE 00 means it's NOT an issue with the CPU or a FAN. QCODE 00 means "I cannot even POST" (power-on self-test). That's from my experience of working in IT for nearly 30 years.
Now, after reading the manual of exactly this mainboard: Code 00 means "Not used", which means the mainboard can't even POST and show a correct error code.
