  • They all come in new shape for 2020. Kawasaki Z900 features traction control, riding modes, LED lights, TFT dash, the Triumph Street Triple RS comes with superstar suspension and Brembo breaking system, while the BMW is all new for this year: new engine, new chassis - a completely new bike. But which one is better?

    I own a 2017 z900, a 2007 990 superduke and my gf has an mt09.
    The z always shocks me - in my experience, esp after an ecu flash, it's got a load of torque at 6k+, and is just sooo damn smooth it beggars believe.
    The superduke is much more raw as you would expect engine wise, but the gears are looooooooong (frequently find myself on the highway thinking in in fifth but I'm in third). The big difference is brakes and suspension - so much better than the other two.
    The mt09 just isn't to my taste, the suspension is just bad, the seating position kinda feels weird - all subjective stuff but important

    Maybe you needed to be in a lower gear for those fast corner exits on the RS my friend! And if you want more midrange grunt there's always the Speed Triple. Totally agree with you about the mirrors getting in the way when cornering aggressively, my only issue with the bike.

    • @xcg1234
      @xcg1234 3 роки тому

      He was right. He said that because he was in the normal rev range when testing these 3 bikes. Why would I rev the shit of the Triple while I can get more torque in relatively low rpm with Z900? Don't get me wrong I love RS with all the equipment and looks but specs wise, triple's torque is way less than Z900, it only has 58 lbft at high rpm 9350, compared to Z900 73.1 lb-ft @ 7,700 rpm. That make sense. Triple is always a better track bike compare to Z, but for more torque and acceleration, it can't beat Z...There is no need to bring Speed Triple into this war since it's more expensive, in that case, Kawa has Z-H2 to compare.

    • @anoshkhumbatta6327
      @anoshkhumbatta6327 3 роки тому +3

      @@xcg1234 no doubt the RS makes less torque low down, but that's how it's designed, to be a supersport without fairings and with a handlebar... So one should ride it as such, keeping it in the sweet spot. And if we're keeping the Speed out of it, then look towards the Street Triple R, which has a meatier torque curve while sacrificing some top-end power, making it ideal for road use. (Yes I know there isn't a new one yet, just an example). Put the RS in the correct gear and it'll power out of any corner harder than anything else here... And if u have a lazy left foot, maybe it just isn't for you.

I like you chose the Kawasaki because I have had many and I like Kawasaki and prefer them but I think the Triumph is more appealing. • @JK-tu1xx
    @JK-tu1xx 3 роки тому +4

    That is literally the first time I've ever heard anybody say that the Street triple lacks mid range power, then you commented on the fact that you felt you needed to rev it up high in the RPM to get any kind of punch from the engine and only revved the bike up to maybe 4500-5000 RPM? The street triple torque curve is nearly completely flat starting at 1800 RPM with 50ft lbs and fluctuating +/- 6 ft lbs all the way to redline, maybe don't lug a bike in a higher gear and you'll actually get to be able to experience the bike as it's intended to be ridden.

    • @MiGAngeI
      @MiGAngeI 3 роки тому

      I've heard it lacks midrange. Especially compared to the lower trims. Also these gentlemen compare bikes during the same test I'd think they would notice which has more power than the other and at what range. Coming from a 2013 Striple owner.

      I have a 2018 765 R and you have to keep it up in the revs to keep it happy. Seldom do I get out of 2nd when doing aggressive canyon riding unless I am g-ing out and cracking 3rd, or short shifting to keep the tourqe where I want it for S turns.

      I also think he was lugging the engine with higher gears. I’ve test ridden the new street triple rs and z900. It is so obvious that the street triple is more rider’s bike. It gives you so much confidence in the curves that the z900 could ever try. The new 2020 model improved 9% in the mid range so I really don’t know what they are talking about.

    @jimbo1485 3 роки тому +1

    Thanks for the video it was great. I have a street triple RS and I agree with you with some things. The lack of midrange and low down power also annoys me, it only opens up after 8000rpm, not great for a road bike. But I do disagree about the leg pain. I’m 6 foot 2 with dodgy knees and have no problem with the peg position, no pain from me. If pegs were any lower you would be scrapping the pegs constantly

    • @Lex-Rex
      @Lex-Rex 3 роки тому +2

      I do not understand this midrange issue as I have a 2018 765 R and never noticed that. Then again, when I ride twisties out here in Colorado, I barley get out of 2nd and keep the revs high and sometime short shift just to lower the RPM. You have to be aggressive when you ride this bike, or you will experience the low mids. Ride it like you stole it and I assure you that thing will stomp these other bikes when it comes to canyon carving and doing track days.

      Neo Smith your right, if you ride it in a lower gear you have no problem. Also you have the R model which has more midrange and low down power than the RS model. Neo I suppose I just noticed it massively because I have come from a 2012 street triple 675 r and that pulled like a train from low down in the rev range.

    Very useful review and amazing quality. Besides, opinions differ : High Side, a French channel, just ranked 9 naked and z900 was 5th while St was 2nd, almost ranked 1st. And the 1st ? KTM 890.

      And because the R is lower spec will get totally overlooked - wrongly. But I thinkk you're right, it's a much better road bike, better mid range torque feel, and the cheaper suspension probably comfier than the RS.

    Seriously, dude...you expect the 765 RS have more mid range? It's almost 200cc less capacity than the Z900...You can't just ignore laws of physics and want everything, both horsepower and mid range torque in a much smaller engine... To place it 2nd just because the mid range is not on par with Z900 is kinda difficult to understand, given it's got much superior suspension, brakes, electronics, build and finish...

      @@rajatthakur9091 I think triumph is harder to maintain due to expensive parts also it's not good for traffic like in India . I rode a street triple rs it heated up pretty quick also the 165kgs is disadvantage on highway I prefer Abit weight would be good for stability same problem faced on 790 Duke , I think triumph in India is way too expensive for what it offers I mean 11.33lacs exshowroom compared to z900 for 7.99lacs exshowroom. Z900 is a Japanese brand which would last longer than triumph, z900 has good usable torque in city and highways compared to 765 u need to be above 7k rpm, Kawasaki has reliability, Kawasaki dealerships are vastly present all over in India even almost in every medium size cities while triumph has like smaller no. of dealers... I don't mean 765 is bad bike it has good electronics and accessories also best naked track bike but for 11.33 lacs I would rather get z900 2020 due to reliability, comfort, suspension, power, service. I liked the 675 cuz it had the low end grunt,power but rs seems to have supersport kinda powerband which is bit odd for naked. Z900 is a good beginner superbike for new riders, professional riders it just excels in every city conditions

    I would choose the Kawi too, because of the knees angle on the Triumph, and because of the BMW look.
    I wonder how to fix the snatchy initial throttle on my Z900RS. It's very smooth after that, but if the throttle is completely closed and then I start accelerating it kicks, with doesn't add confidence while trail breaking. Can I do something about it or it's just something to get used to?

    I have the 2020 765rs and do feel at times it lacks slightly in the mid-range though I wonder if that is due to those euro5 restrictions. Even so I would still take it over the Z900. The RS looks better gives you more bike for your money and also will be worth more when you come to sell. The RS has a lot of attention to detail too
