29:27 his talk about the skills gap myth and the issue of schools only teaching basic skills and basic parts is spot on, went to a trade school for cnc machining and only had two courses out of 100 credits where I actually got hands on with a cnc machine. The rest was pretty useless filler classes. I can tell his heart is in the vision, brings me hope that we will come back from this down swing of motivation and worth.
I’m providing for my wife and daughters because an owner of a mom-and-pop shop stepped up and breathed life back into the CNC program at Schoolcraft College in Livonia MI. In seven years I’ve gone from making $12/hr to way more because someone taught me the fundamentals of manufacturing and showed me that there was still honor in this trade.
"Not showing the awesomeness" - very inspirational. We have to get back to this for our youth by showing them the awesomeness of manufacturing and the lives it defines.
It's amazing how you talk so passionately about the current state of American manufacturing and yet have the willingness and hope to change things for the better! As we all know, getting back up after a fall is the hardest part.
CNC type manufacturing is how the US brings manufacturing back to the US. When done right its cheaper for companies to make parts this way versus over seas, the parts are higher quality and tighter in tolerance, and cheaper/faster to ship. All of this and it creates high paying jobs for Americans. Its really great to see someone pushing this so passionately.
Dude this is freaking amazing man! you are 100% correct, there is no better feeling of self-worth than when you make something, that's what we all need, that's why I came to UA-cam, to Inspire Youths to get interested in Building, engineering and Manufacturing and understand they can do it too.
I am autistic. Have PTSD and OCD. I've struggled a lot. My meltdowns have caused me many issues. As a kid. My escape was cars. And aircraft. People scared me. I didn't do well when interacting with others. I isolated and secluded. I became more and more fascinated and obsessed with cars and their mechanical systems. I began to also love math and science. I eventually got my BASc. in Mechanical engineering. I work as a quality engineer at a small machine shop. It is so cool to hear about your son Tyson. Cheers!
I love Titans passion and totally understand his vision. I'm a 63 year old who started out back in the 70's on Engine Lathe's when CNC's first started coming out and that's where I wanted to be. Back then there really wasn't any forms of CAM software, it was all manual programming transferred to Mylar or paper tape. Machine Controllers back then didn't have memory, the tapes were started over for each new part in the run, but there were offsets and you could MDI very small programs if needed. Back then there was plenty of work and a real need and I thought it was something I could do for a living and retire from. Being so young I really had no idea what politics was all about or the "Old Boy, Turf Protectors" mentality or anyone to teach me the ropes. Like Titan, I was from very humble beginning. Father passed a month before I came into the world and it destroyed my MOM. She was never the same and I can only imagine what she was going through. It took years for me to appreciate just what she was going through trying to raise a son who's father never got a chance to see his son. I was both of them's 1st and only child. Frankly I'm very grateful and amazed that I'm still here... But they both gave me something just like Titan's family gave him, the gift of vision through experience. Later in life I discovered the both my parents were Machinists and even worked at the same company, Martin Marietta and both were setting up mills and lathes building parts for the WWII effort. Sadly, my 1st job at age 18 was with Koppers Co. which was mismanaged into bankruptcy. I was only able to get 7 years in and it's been all downhill from there. Martin's closed up shop and took the $$$ and ran after the B1B project, 7 years there and then the Gypsy lifestyle from shop to shop, hired, worked like a dog, then thrown away (laid off) after the contract was done and that's the way it been ever since. That's why parents are steering their children away from manufacturing. It's unstable, exploitative and unappreciative of those who their all and made lots of money for them and simply handed pink slip after pink slip. I even hired on with a small mom & pop shop at an outrageously pay rate to help them build a crackerjack CNC department that had been sitting idle for over 8 months because my predecessor had no CNC experience and they were desperate to get the department up and running. They had just upgraded from an old Hurco single spindle, primarily an MDI machining to a full blown new Cincinnati VNC and it was beyond his ability. It was a new machine with 2 identical 3/4" tool holder and no tools and no CAM software. The deal was I would build his CNC dept. then fall back to more of a Design, Engineering, Programming, Managing responsibility after I got the totally saturated by M.E in the entire operation to determine what manual work I should bring into the department that I could do better, faster and of the highest quality. After 4 years of tuning an $8K/year loser into a $1M plus/year profit center, a full third of their yearly gross with only one machine, they decided to "cycle" as I call it and all my love and hard work was for not. They broke and got drove out, through intimidation and other ignorance all the foremen and the core team that had turned the company around big-time thinking they could bring inexperience kids thinking they could learn and understand our responsibility by our work. Needless to say it didn't work and they are still not where they were just prior to the "betrayal" and that was back in 2004. Talk about broken hearted... That was my baby, I built it and I cared about it and was proud of it... All the promises they smoked me with were just that lies... That's another major part why manufacturing is dying, mediocre to bad management. My point for Titan and he touched on it, Not only do the kids need to be inspired, but an even bigger part is teaching Companies and their managers to be good to great managers of honor, ethic & integrity like real professional adults to support, mentor and teach, the right way, positively and to truly care about their workforce. Without good motivated people that you give back to in this way companies are nothing more than a name without them. The "Old Boy" way are killing all American companies where it all about "who you know and who you..." instead of of Merit, Ingenuity, Pride in Craftsmanship" ... No one wants to be working for ingrates or asshole liars who don't give a rat's ass about you . Faster, faster, faster as they whip you and it's still like that at the older companies. They've got the cancer too bad and have had it for too long. This is the systemic problem and it's perpetuated. When an "Old Boy, Turf Protector" is put into positions of authority, including at the top, that's when a company starts dying because they only promote less capable them themselves because they don't wants any threats to themselves. It's company driven. It's a company killer... I live in the Mid-Atlantic area and manufacturing is infested with this destructive mentality, all rust belt areas are... The crazy thing is, this is where the real talent is at. Now that were in the COVID-19 Lock-down days and the economy has been all but destroyed and disrupted, companies are going to do it again taking advantage of and exploiting highly skilled folks offering low pay and providing no benefits for apprentice level pay. This is not a good trade to get into people unless you want to live like a brick layer or gypsy making peanuts... The trade was stable and good through the 50;s & 60;s, but it's lost it's honer ethic and integrity because it's 'Old Boy" now and it's really sad. Titan most likely came from this and that's why he is the way he is, but he's the exception, not the rule. It's sad to say, but if you want stability, which is what we were all are really looking for in the manufacturing trades, think about the Health Industry or start your own company doing what you love... Sorry Titan for being negative, but that's reality. Unless Company leader are of a Merit based mindset and are honorable, ethical, equitable and have integrity you're just leading a whole new generation to heartache because greed will continue to see-saw labor needs to the cheapest workforce's no matter how accomplished or mature they are. I think we've should have learned that by now. So now the spotlight is where it belongs, on our nation's leadership having that good, decent mindset or it's time to pack in the towels... Peace brother.
Yes, great talk but of course, he is talking to the folks (especially the corporate suits) who really don't give a rat's tail about the topic and are probably more interested in the rubber chicken.
@@peterstockschlaeder956 And A lot has changed since 2018 and humanity and the corruption. I used to respect the guy until i found out, like the res how unethical and unfair he really is BOOM...
This has to be one of the most riveting 'real life' speeches of all time that cuts across many current issues. Shouldn't Titan be recognized by the US Government and the state of California (or where ever he's from) for his sterling contribution to the upliftment of people's lives and for communities' regeneration? I salute him.👍👍🇬🇾.
Being in manufacturing for over 27 years, and just starting my own business that is dependent on CNC technology...this video is both inspirational, and gives me hope for our future, in what was once America's backbone...Manufacturing!
You know, I came to know about Titans of CNC through my 1 year journey to learn CNC. I was just searching for Facebook groups to be a part of, hoping to learn some things from more experienced machine operators. That Facebook group has been so helpful. Even after watching some of his youtube content, I didn't know about THIS aspect of his life and history. It's really incredible and inspirational, and I will be following and learning from him for YEARS to come. Thank you, Titan. I really appreciate the passion and professionalism you bring to the CNC community. I'm still just running a hobbyist desktop machine, but thanks in large part to you and the community you've built, I'm holding tolerances on my machine that are acceptable for professional shops -- albeit slower by huge margins. Even so, CNC is changing my life and bringing me immense joy in the process. I hope someday I understand even half of what Titan does about machining. God bless you, bro.
Titan you killed it! Inspiring and on point. It was worth the time to take a break from my 16 hour day and watch this video. I have been putting in the time and reaping the rewards from the hard work. God is great and so is America!
Seriously! This guy and his good works are incredibly motivating, inspiring, and best of all, give me a sense of hope. It's rare to see this kind of passion for industry. This guy exudes it. A lot of people would benefit from seeing this.
I watched your speech and this perfectly resembles what I want to become, a CNC machinist. I found your words empowering. With great respect and honor of Titans of CNC I salute you and your team.
Amazing truthful speech wish I could of been there and talked with you. I talked to the Owner of the company I work for about going, also. A few people here have been checking your videos out because I have been utilizing your Academy to train others in the company. We are trying to grow the Machine Shop, just making it over hurdles left and right. Now a family member of a coworker is checking out the Academy since he figured no one would hire him after his release from prison. I shared your video about your rise to greatness. Now he has hope that he can get a job and do something productive with his life. Thanks for all you have done and still will do for this Trade. BOOMMM!!!!!
One word Titan, 'Co-operation'...without it, we could all lose...with it, we can all Win. Hopefully the message starts to sink in to those people & places that can help to make a real difference. Thank you for sharing!
40 years as machinist ,but now being laid off from a large AEROSPACE company, they don't want to make the parts, no manufacturing ,It's been a great life , i'm so glad to to see something good is happening in a America with what your doing could change everything, thank God for this Academy ,great job Titan Gilroy we need this !!!!!!!!
I’ve been following these videos for a while and the perspective you put the industry and the trades is amazing! I’ve worked as a machine operator and now I’m a red seal millwright I absolutely love what you guys do keep it up man it’s incredible
Titan! You are the most inspiring person I know on youtube... I have started studying Mastercam thanks to your videos... I hope to meet you someday! You are the best!!! I have watched this video and all your videos countless times and I learn something new every time! Thanks to you and your team! There is power in the TEAM! Normund From : Latvia (Riga) 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
At my former Job at Lockheed Martin - Orlando we took a tour with students. That was 3 years ago. They told me they know they have to get entry level people in the shop as all retirees and leaving. They haven't done entry level in decades. But the well is dry for the older experienced machinists and they are slammed busy. Good time to be a machinist. Great job on the talk - keep up the good work and the Vlogs
in how many years im searching a man gives full knowledge and tutorials..other teachers teach only 5%.. Titan teach advance manual programming! Thanks to your video sir.. Respect! More blessing to you
You couldn't explain it better. like for real. He hasn't just got the problem with our society. He's starting to clean up the mess we made. Props to this guy!
hey titan. your biggest Canadian fan again lol. just wanted to say that when im having a bad day and I think im stuck in a corner, I think of you and how you made yourself successful and that keeps me going through the day . Anyways I just wanted to say hello and wishing you the best during this holiday season. from my little Canadian family to yours. take care Titan.
Dear Titan, this is one of the best video i'll ever seen... real passion burn in your heart... thank you for your job, your academy, your videos.... thank you for all! Greetings from Italy!
Thank you for your commitment to domestic manufacturing, enhancing the current workforce and inspiring the future creators and builders. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
I was a nobody growing up a drug addict without a cause. I ended up going to state then federal prison. I was just released 2 years ago. I had got a job a couple fays after i got released in a shop started out a Sawyer and now ive been doing setups and learning all kinds of things every day machining has changed my life forever. I will never look back only forward. Thank you Titan man you inspire me like crazy!
As said on the short video true inspiration this man is, titan my brother amen to your wise words and let's get this world to realise the true potential engineering has to the world and how no one with any sort of condition should be turned away. Love and respect brother... BOOM
One of the greatest speeches I've ever heard very impressive he has a tenacity that second to none and he's in a very complicated and difficult business and he's great at it awesome
Titan, I remember employee owned companies where people worked hard to make it succeed. Now Executives squander to keep the profits in their back pockets. America can be great again!!!!
You may think there’s more profit than there really is, this industry is relentlessly competitive shaving down the profits to almost nothing, what you think the boss is doing compared to what is really happening are two massively different realities, most likely the boss is the one taking pay cuts and personal loans to ensure your paycheck keeps clearing.
I have a passion for welding and CNBC machines and this just made me more want to not only follow my passions but get food at it and become a teacher and teach the next generations
Hey man first of all saluting to your job , to your different revolutionary thinkings that you revolutioned & survive those people's life who lost their hopes in their life , you are the motivation for me!! You are the amazing person !!
Thank You for the inspiration You give, thank You for showing the line to follow in life. I will try to fight for my country (Ukraine) , in the same manner You fight for yours. Education and determination are the keys to nation's greatness. Thank You and your team, Tytan. Live long and prosper.
Loyalty, Integrity, Honor...Boom! 💥 Good morning to all my fellow CNC Machinists across the world. Let’s get it...I’m finishing a set up on my Haas VF-2 40 Taper while also running production on my Haas VF-6 50 Taper...
Titan, hats of for this inspiring performance for such an audience.. I'm a proudly made in the Netherlands guy but I love your passion, your ideas and your energy to get things done. Your looks could be deceiving but you're a truly nice person who understands the independence of creating your own needs by, for instance, clever machining. I'm a one man shop and pushing my minimill to the point where the neighbours complain. Boom, went the front door bell :-) Your message is inspiring and spot on. Titan; a lot of noise, a lot of body, a lot of work done and a real idea of how to proceed. Thank you a lot! Stay safe and get it done! (Keith Fenner) Best, Job
I'm impressed. Great speech. It gives strength and faith that a lot can be achieved if you want to. I live in Poland, I work in a small company. I am currently working on two Haas milling machines. At the beginning I worked as an operator and did simple things, which made me frustrated because I didn't develop my skills and stood still. I started watching your movies and I am starting to learn Cam programming at home. I would like to do such great details as you, I hope and dream that one day I will be at least a bit as good in machining as you. Greetings from Poland! Sorry for my poor English. Boom!
What a great patriot and pioneer this is what you call a stand up grown ass man an amazing role model congratulations Titan on your massive future success you are destined for much 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Titan you are my inspiration!! I am watching my country sinking one day after the other and there's no hope that can get better because the lack of manufacturing culture and the mentality of the young generation. Here now the goal is all about warming a chair in an office and having a good time, our industry is DEAD!! I wish i could set up in United Kingdom a CNC school as you did in the great USA, I said everything... You are a great man, you speak the truth, no bullshit and no excuses, BOOM!!! Best regards.
The Haas Technician who finished installing our brand new ST 30 yesterday knew all about Titan and The Academy. I brought up Big T and this dude was hip to the skip. Not surprising considering the fact that Haas & Titan are like Peanut Butter & Jelly Lol. Salute to all my peers in the manufacturing community...together let’s “Make America Manufacture Again”!!! BOOM !!
I am 50. Paid my dues in the mechanical design corridor. First machine helped me prove out design concepts and after four years I just bought my second machine and I want my son to run parts with me as he is so like me. He was proud of the calipers I gave him and he is a chip off the block and I am surprised because I thought he'd take more after his beautiful loving mother and become a doctor, nurse or just lover of people like his momma. I'm an old dad, but I want to build a "Cow" for him and I . I wouldn't do it if I didn't think he loves it too. I'm too far in the game to invest in something that doesn't pay my current bills. I figure I can say...I bought a 770MX just this week, hoping to fill the tool maker position for an american eye wear company and we can all go boom...I don't need big, I just need to provide for mine...love you, thank you Titan. God bless you and yours.
Bless you for what you are doing for America. I'm 71, a semi-retired Toolmaker of 50 years. I still teach the trade and love every minute of it. Trade schools are teaching the old ways. Manuals and 3 axis. Money and 5 axis teaching skills are lacking or non-existent all together. Maybe a Billion dollar grant, divided into 30 states would provide 33.3 million to each state for the new enterprise zones. President Trump is working towards this goal. Your timing couldn't be better.
Titan, I salute you. I just got to know of you today. I have watched a few videos and I can only state here that you a jewel of the rarest kind. You found your purpose in God and you are doing it very well. I write from Nairobi Kenya and my profession is in Geomatics. I am however a craft man in my core. I like creating, manufacturing and building. How I would be greatly honored to even just tour your facility. I have a passion for mentoring young people especially young men who are doing so poorly in this part of the world. I am just wondering if it is possible to replicate such a center of manufacturing excellence in my country. We are very busy investing Billions in malls to sell merchandise from China and very little goes to manufacturing. You are my hero!!!!!
Great talk. Companies and cities and schools all around the world, need to understand, that by being so closed minded, they are all hurting themselves and communities around them. Education and training is a paramount. Financial and technical help is important. I am not from US, but we should be pouring billions into it, with help from everywhere, including industry. Make people that it is possible, and nothing is too complex for kids or to expensive to be done locally. It can be done, and we need to believe in it, and put everything possible to make this happen. No excuses.
There's only certain people that can understand and comprehend and keep up with you Titan and I am one of them and I also have one more I would love to be a part of your team I don't need your schooling or I guarantee you I need your schooling but I am not person that can motivate everybody else that person that keeps your shot running that guy that keeps everybody moving that guy that you talk about Titan my name is Kevin Rose I am a factory test pilot Machinist Walker Evans racing I could throw a few more names out there but I'm not about that what I'm about is how Mr Titan runs his business what an amazing man
In Canada, we have completely destroyed the trade, and sold our entire soul to cheap overseas manufacturing. I Miss machining every day, but its now a minimum wage, dying, dirty shop, forgotten industry here. Titan is fighting back against this tide in the USA, thank you Titan, don't let what happned to us, happen there.
I've been preaching on this exact topic for years. I used to sell to the automotive and aerospace industries for years prior to the passage of NAFTA by Clinton. This was the worst trade deal in the history of the world because it sold the middle class out and sent all of our manufacturing jobs not to Mexico or Canada, which is North America, most of our manufacturing jobs went to China. China bought Clinton off and there was a loop hole in NAFTA for it. So then Ford, GM, Chrysler all started closing up their plants and laying off hundreds of thousands of America middle class because their jobs were leaving the country and either going to Mexico or China. Back then China was mainly a third world country now they are one of of not the richest and we have gone 30 trillion in debt and guess who owns most of our debt that's right China! Clinton screwed us over so bad it's not even funny. Manufacturing is the key to everything though if we bring those jobs, like Trump was doing, back to America by incentivizing the companies to do so and by keeping our corporate tax rate low like Trump had done those companies and jobs come back to America and we flip everything back. Manufacturing gives good paying jobs and builds the middle class big government doesn't want that they want us poor and begging them for help. Manufacturing sets us free!
I like your mindset with the schools and our children.. our non vocational schools here in ct have dropped all of the shop classes.. removed all of the machines and shop lifts/tools, and chose to just substitute these actual hands on manufacturing classes for study halls full of kids buried in thier phones on social media or playing games... 15 years ago I remember these classes thriving.. it's sad that we as a community let that happen, and we watch our children slowly dive into poverty or extremely low paying spot filler jobs that are brainless... With that comes loss of manufacturing here in ct, one of the big manufacturing states, and now just a hollow shell of its former glory.. Our children need to be pushed to succeed now more than ever! We have to implement technology into a skill, a trade, some direction for success... my daughter is 11, I can hand her a print I've drawn up and she can successfully model my parts in fusion for me.. To see the look of gratification on her face as a part she modeled is pulled out of the cnc machine brings back my hope that the will and want to thrive still exists in today's youth if they are given the opportunity... Thank you Titan for all you do to try bringing back what our nation was great at...
Great speech, If USA implement the metric system kids might be able to learn easier then the old fashioned imperial system. Metric and manufacturing is a no brainer.
Titan, since you are bringing all of these people together you could probably call them 'Titans Army'. If you're looking for a theme song to go with 'Titan's Army' check out the following video: Status Quo 'In The Army Now" (Live At Wacken 2017) From "Down and Dirty At Wacken" (posted by: earMUSIC). Enjoy!

My long lost brother. If I weren't trying to start my own company I would apply to work for him. Manufacturing is absolutely the solution.

How did you find your customer base?
Thanks!
It’s His Path Brother... I seek to be a worthy vessel:-)
Seriously! This guy and his good works are incredibly motivating, inspiring, and best of all, give me a sense of hope. It's rare to see this kind of passion for industry. This guy exudes it. A lot of people would benefit from seeing this.
@@TITANSofCNC oh... you're squared away as far as that's concerned brother. You get it.

You are a true man and a hero. Keep kicking ass. Much respect.
One word Titan, 'Co-operation'...without it, we could all lose...with it, we can all Win. Hopefully the message starts to sink in to those people & places that can help to make a real difference. Thank you for sharing!

This is an amazing moment in history. A great speech. I am curious what the attendees can do to make this happen.
I had a Call to Action at the end.
This is a powerful and passionate man. He hits every note. He is 100% correct.
Titan, that was a marvelous presentation! Thank you for sharing!

Great job loved the video really inspirational. Thanks more people need to see this! Keep up the good work thanks again.

Great speach and love your message. Wish you would give the manual machines a little more love but it is way to hard to teach the masses to run them.

Thank you Brother!
My wife did mission work in Nyamusi :-)
Titans rhetoric game is on point.
No excuses.
I love more machining now
There's only certain people that can understand and comprehend and keep up with you Titan and I am one of them and I also have one more I would love to be a part of your team I don't need your schooling or I guarantee you I need your schooling but I am not person that can motivate everybody else that person that keeps your shot running that guy that keeps everybody moving that guy that you talk about Titan my name is Kevin Rose I am a factory test pilot Machinist Walker Evans racing I could throw a few more names out there but I'm not about that what I'm about is how Mr Titan runs his business what an amazing man
Cool talk love to see follow up on the guys from the prison 😊
So many people blatantly ignoring the fire he was spitting
