Bill Selway is a living legend. He's why I left my job and went to work for Selway. Never met a more humble, supportive, appreciative man in my life. His word is his bond. I have much the same industry background as you and my 4 year old son has high functioning autism. He's the most amazing little boy and I'm blessed to be his father. I didn't give you the credit you deserved until I watched this video and I get it now. Good on you Titan.

Took over my dad's shop in the early eighties at 18 years old. WW2 equipment like an Atlas Lathe, an old Johnson model J saw and 2D war finish Gorton panto-graphs but we had some customers. Everything was so clapped out but I stuck to it being orphaned. Sold the building 5 years later to pay off debt from our badly managed succession and moved to town in rented smaller square footage. First sinker EDM 2 years later then one 3 and then 4 axis cnc one after another after that so now have a shop full. All this was so traumatic to me we stayed small and safe but are doing well in our niche. Yes on criticism from others ( 29:00 ) I was ragged on and ridiculed often.. Anyhow thanks for the vids Titan. Whew I first read about you in the Haas magazine I thought well here's another guy that thinks highly of himself but your heartfelt videos changed my mind. Thanks for all you do man, at 58 years old you've given me the courage to stay on track and progress for another 10 years .

Titan I am 31 years old and three years ago I went back to school for advanced manufacturing. The first few weeks of school was very overwhelming for me.Between the math classes and the CNC programming classes I was lost at first and felt like I didn't have what it takes to get.I was ready to drop out before I embarrassed myself. But I was extremely attracted to machining and wanted to succeed. So I studied my tail off day and night and progressed so well I landed myself on the Dean's list and was offered scholarships.I became obsessed with the trade.I went from hating my job so bad I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning to getting excited pulling in the parking lot in the morning. And I must say your videos have definitely inspired me to succeed. If I am ever out your way I would love to stop in and shake your hand sir.Thank you!

I really appreciate your story. I ran my shop that lasted 30 years. When my wife got Alzheimer’s I decided to limit my work week to 50 hours a week and let my management team run the business. I lost everything. Now my wife is in a nursing home and I have started over with nothing. Your story is inspirational giving me the much needed boost after 25 years of 7 days a week only to let it go to spend a few quality years with my wife. I have no regrets but my energy did need a boost.
    Thank you

Now I have a PhD in Electronics Engineering and I'm still trying to have a business in a hostile country to such a thing. Your words really cheered me up. I'm 50, and may God help me find my way. Thank you so much, Titan.

For me this story is very inspirational and hurts at the same time. It's the kind of story that keeps me pushing to have a successful business that makes a difference but I never had anyone that could do what his friend Jeff did. I'm almost 50 years old now and about to be empty nesters in about a year. All that time trying to create a successful business to provide a good life for my kids is now gone and I have nothing to show for it. The one thing I realized through the years is that everybody needs a Jeff. No matter what industry you decide to go in. Making the money is cool but having someone that believes in you and is willing to put everything on the line because they see your vision is the real blessing. Take it from an old man, pray for good people in your life, not money!

Titan... I watched these kind of in reverse but I'm watching them as I can. It is rather scary that our visions are so similar and we have never met. I am a disabled veteran that has been struggling to get my stuff going and refuse to stop even though I am knocked off the ladder time after time after time. It's wearing on me badly but I got a chance through a friend to get some of my stuff started and that actually landed me with working for them and being able to work on my parts too. I'm solo on my venture but I'm still trying to figure out everything to get it going where I know it can be. I'm starting off very small but my long term goal is to have my own shop that I can hire good people and help other veterans or someone who needs help to get back on their feet. Thanks for these brother it's very inspiring to me!!

The rise of the Titan Machines. Lately I been watching some of videos I should of started with this one. Your story is inspiring. About 30 years back I studied to become a machinist. I worked 5 years as an CNC operator. Inside of me I wanted to advance into programming or something in the same field. To make my story short I abandoned because people closed doors on me. If I would of meet someone like you to help me achieve my goals. But you revived an old flame in me. Don't know where to start but something inside says go!!!!👍

Great Story Titan! I work as a Prototype Aerospace machinist. I like all of your videos and i know what you mean about making a difference. There have been a few good people that i have met along the way. One guy taught me how to program when i still lived in New Mexico. I still talk to him and respect that guy a lot. Sometimes it is more than just what is going on right then and there. We truly can help each other out in this trade. Somehow the ego gets in the way and there is a weird animosity in a lot of shops. I just try to rise above it and look toward the future. I am thinking about buying my own machine next year. I know it will be a lot of work but i think it will be worth it if i can get my brother to come work with me. I could see starting a program to help out the younger generation get into CNC programming and operating. I had the idea to start a program where you take the kids out of the trade schools and have them run parts in your shop. There might be a way to get machines at the education rate if there was such a program as that. I know CNC programming/setup/operation has changed my life. We shall see.
Also i wish i got to run those carbide drills a lot of shops are scared to run them...
How do you like fusion? I program on Mastercam and i have been for like 8 years now. I have fusion at home but it would take some time to get used to.

Titan God has blessed you. As you say it is better to give than to receive. What you said and how you say it, man that really lifts me. I LOVE our industry, I love making something out of nothing, getting the machine to cut, faster, always moving forward. As you say some people don't get it. They would rather give you 10 reasons to not do it, as 1 to do it. I know what I have to do, the gift I've been given and I wish our leaders would only see the benefit, the pride manufacturing gives. Keep doing what you do, I would love to have my own shop but its the starting out that is the wall. I've been an cnc programmer, engineer 25 years now and all I want, is to make product, better, better. Why because we can, we never stop trying. Keep building our next generation of manufacturing experts.

Thank you Titan. I too, have an autistic daughter that is mid to high functioning. I have been programming CNC's since 1990, before that operating CNC's and manuals since 1978. I love what you are doing, I have ran many a (Selway sold) Matsurra and Haas in Austin. Now I'm the last guy in a small shop (not in Austin), owned by a research and development company. I do everything. Change my own coolant, order stock/tools, saw, program, run, sweep, mop, and do whatever it takes to keep my internal customers happy. I'm not telling you this because I want a job. But if I lose this job, I will have trouble finding one near me. I'm already commuting 132 mile round trip. I'm wanting you to keep it up so that we can rebuild America. We need more of this. The Lord and manufacturing built America. I'm getting older (and tired), but my kids are young, so I need motivation like this to keep it going. Thanks again for inspiring me. One day at a time.

Titan your an inspiring and talented guy, and we're quite similar with the rough and the kiss finish attitude to machining, although my kisses linger a little too long ;) And like myself, you came from nothing, just armed with the knowledge or should I say belief that HARD GRAFT WILL GET YOU THERE! Bringing back manufacturing and perfection to great engineering countries... also a passion of mine! Although we're UK based. Everyone always thought I was crazy for wanting to buy a mill. I wanted one because I loved running machinery and I had many ideas I wanted to make. It made no sense since I knew how to run machinery to pay for someone else to do it for me. so I ended up buying a manual 5hp mill! That was three years ago. Finally got tired of doing round work on the mill, with rotary tables, running a boring head with a left hand tool/ makeshift balancer. I went out and purchased my new lathe back in August! (17x60 E-lathe). Next goal will be to eventually build a shop that's heated lol.

I set up a machine shop, all new equipment except the forklift, Mostly manual machines but did have a CNC lathe and a cnc plasma table, 1 year in my wife was diagnosed with brain cancer and lost everything. Im happy for you, you deserve it, I’m still waiting for my break.

Inspiring story Titan. I grew up on the streets of LA, doing drugs, selling, hustling. Lived outside, slepted on roofs and in the bushes. I noe own a sucessful janitorial bussiness in Iowa. Married and raised four children. None of them on drugs. My oldest son makes more than me as a compute. programmer. He's 21. If you've git the heart you can crawl out of any hole. Enjoyed your story.

Back in the day we were a 5 to 6.6 million dollar a month company. If you ever walk into Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Ace Hardware, Sears, Walmart, Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and bought paint and have them add colorant and then mix and shake them. We made those machine to tint and mix those colors together.

Consider me very inspired. More importantly, consider me not only motivated to complete my CNC training, but to do what I can to help others. I've been so fortunate to have family and friends help me when I was "hitting the skids", and I want to pay them back by paying it forward. Thanks you for sharing your story and doing what you do. @@TITANSofCNC Just finished watching the video about your story in front of the Twin Cities Mens group. Moh-tiv-a-shun-al, to say the least... I'll check out #21 and #22 next. My instructor, Eddie Jackson with Palmetto Training palmettotraining.com is on the same mission as you are - he's a Christian who wants to really help people.
Spent a while as a "guest of the state", and will never go back. Manufacturing is one of the few industries that, for the most part, seems to care less about what you DID than what you can DO... AND will pay you a decent wage. Thanks again for what you've done and what you do, brother...
