- Avatar the Last Airbender features many unique fictional locations. In this video, I examine the architectural elements of each nation whilst also exploring the cultural inspirations and real-life counterparts.
* FOR THOSE WONDERING - This is a reupload. This has nothing to do with monetisation, but rather the music I used in the previous uploads intro. I got the music from a royalty-free music website unaware it was a national anthem. I thought I'd reupload with a new intro song to avoid any controversy. *

Thank you for the support in the SpongeBob video!
Which anthem it was? And what is name of songs you used in the video?
Especially in the end
Amazing content brother, God bless ya and Jesus loves ya :)
I was wondering why this didn't hit 100K, it's really well made
Man... you are merging two of my favorite things in this world. I studied architectural drafting in university and Avatar is hands down my favorite series of all time.
In regard to the S. Water Tribe, you can see in Hama’s vision that the South looked very similar to the North when there were actually benders there. It was a full ice city with a large ice wall that the Fire Nation knocked down during they’re assaults
I love the little you's hidden throughout the video, my favorite was when youre petting appa on top of the basingse wall.
Cute!
You forgot about the Aztec inspired architecture of the warriors of the sun from the fire nation which is the most unique one in the whole series. Most architecture in the world of avatar is Asian inspired except for the warriors of the sun which comes from the new world.
I think why Avatar world is both distinct and beautiful is because it came out at a time were fantasy was heavily based on Western Europe, anime was not mainstream at the time so despite Avatar being based on real cultures in seamed magical and new to us westerns, your video was both narrated beautifully and explained in a way that even my pee brain could understand I hop your channel continues to grow
Great avatar insights, every element was discussed in ways that brought up new angles
I love the way you treated the role of architecture in this show that I've seen no other video do. It is indeed one of the most important and crucial parts of a world to get right, together with landscapes, and Avatar does it a lot of justice. Almost every building in every illustration can be singled out and analyzed as a great addition to the world at large. I've been obsessed with Architecture recently, and considering Avatar is one of my favourite shows of all time, I must really give it another visit just to analyze its beautiful constructions.
Amazing video by the way, you're extremely underrated.
Cool re upload tuarn. 10 out 10
Basingse always reminded me of Troy as well. Especially with the subterfuge needed to get past the impenetrable walls
This was an amazing analysis! I never really took note of these things it really makes you appreciate the world that has been drawn. Please please PLEASE do Korra next!
With this and the Spongebob houses video, you've got my sub.
Hoep that this can give a new chance to the video with the algorithm
That was amazing. I had no idea they put this much thought into the architecture.
Amazing stuff. Appreciate the amount of research that went into this
In depth avatar analysis in 2024 is what i live for. Liked and subbed
Watching this and loving it because of nostalgia
This was such a nice video to watch, loved it!
Giving your characters butts is important for humor imo. Some people never give there characters butts and the humor falls flat.
Legend of Korra architecture next
The content I didn't know I needed
Nice Video
I wish you did republic city too!
could you also look at legend of korra?
Do 40K Next!
I find architecture to be an interesting subject when it comes to worldbuilding because it can end up being just as cool, whimsical, and memorable as the magic, characters, and monsters. Yet, I think when it comes to fantasy, it can end up being the least thought out or developed as other parts of worldbuilding. A lot of fantasy just recycles medieval architecture. While I'll probably base some of the architecture in my own fantasy story around medieval architecture, I also want to create a unique still for my setting. There are a lot of factors that should influence it including magic, culture, and monsters. Buildings have to be able to withstand different spells and dragon attacks- or at least some of the buildings. A lot of fantasy writers don't consider if a traditional medieval castle could actually weather an attack from a dragon. However, the problem is I don't really know enough about architecture to answer these questions. I'm not sure how to create a style of architecture or the engineering that would be required to dragon proof a castle.
I do have a few ideas. Of course, since magic is a big part of my worldbuilding, it can be used to strengthen the material used. Wood could enchanted to be as strong as steel. Stone and metal can also be enchanted but they don't last as long. As enchantments fade over time, but softer materials retain them longer. Wood is a common material but even softer materials like wool can be used (this was partial inspired by wool blocks in Minecraft). I'm not sure how I'll use wool in my story. Technically buildings could be made from it. Maybe the wool is dyed, woven into patterns, then used for buildings. Something I literally just came up with, the problem with using wool or wood is that they are flammable. Magic can be used to reduce this part the fire of a dragon can burn through these enchantments. This balances it so that more common materials can't be over relied on. Basically, architecture will have its own submagic system of its own based on the concepts of other parts of my magic system.
Great video!
Almost missed the cameo at 1:58.
Loved lots of this. Didn’t love you calling Tibetan architecture ‘Chinese’
12:18 I agree.
And he put a picture of a monastery in Bhutan at 11:13 under the same category 😢
Is this a re-upload?
Haha yes it is
Overanalysing Avatar('s architecture)
this is great because it shows how much LOK sucks in comparaison, they just lazily copied and pasted NYC lol, stupid show
