Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 лют 2025
- In part 2 of this three part series, we're talking about battling conduction from the ground.
Never forget to take a shelter system with you during the colder months of the year.
This system should always include something to sleep in, something to sleep on & something to sleep under.
Something to sleep on is vitally important in cold weather!
Please like, comment, and subscribe!
Thanks for watching!

Good stuff bro! 💪
They'll always be negative remarks. We're not worried about em.
@@jaymonee317 For sure! Thanks for watching, bro! Hope all is well with you and yours, man! Talk to you soon!
Negative remarks brought me to this channel. Fight the good fight. This guy is godd@mmned right! #youtubeheroes
If the leaves aren't too wet you can also cover yourself with them in an emergency. You can use cedar branches in layers to help keep the leaves together on top of you so they don't fall or blow off. I live in SW Missouri and it can get pretty cold here but there's never a leaf shortage.😊
I grew up in southeast Arkansas and there was never a shortage of leaves or pine needles. I'm in central Texas and we have oaks on the property but they are 20 to 50 feet apart so this time of the year when the leaves have just fallen there is maybe an inch of leaves on the ground. Later in the year, there is even less. Here, I'd use cedar branches. The thing is, it depends and you use what you have.
I like this format; one video-one component of a system. Don’t be discouraged by the naysayers. They are either not listening or are know it alls. Keep up the good work.
Can you do a video on “worst case scenario “? No injuries but cold, wind, and rain on the way.
Good job Dad!
@@thehappycamperkjv Thanks, buddy!
Great job! Keep up the good work. Can't wait until the next part! ❤🎉
@lawofkindness1611 Thanks for watching! ❤️😘
I bought three of those 6 mil trash bags from SRO a few months ago, I haven’t used them yet but they had a very strong smell and they are surprisingly bulky when folded they are about the same size and weight as an emergency tarp. I can see how they can be used repeatedly but for a single use in an emergency I carry 2 mil bags because they are mush lighter and take up a lot less space.
Thanks for the second video! Can't wait until the next one.
@@afruitfulvine Coming soon! ❤️
On, in and under. If you’ve got those covered for your environment, you’ll make it. Good video brother.
Well said. Anyone who listens (without distraction) to what you’ve said here will understand and benefit from what you’re teaching. Always enjoy your videos.👍
@@HuntCreekBushcraft Thanks so much! I appreciate you! 👍✌️
Well explained!
Many UA-cam presenters seem to get “attacked “
with out good reason!
I will look forward to your reports!
I probably would carry a bivouac instead of, or in addition to. a mylar blanket.
One which was best in test and for four seaons cost $300 and weigh 340 g.
Small, light, easy to carry, and very quick to get into in a surprise storm.
That's also something that can save your life if your car get stuck in a snowstorm (Or a cold desert night) somewhere you can't get help.
Some people have very lightly clothes in their warm and cozy cat. But running the engine for warmth, sleaping when stuck is dangerous.
I have made a bivy from a tarp on leaves, two blankets and two small fleeces.
Thanks for this next one, my man! I got you a "first of the day" shout out in one of my last couple videos. Hope you got some traffic. Just starting this one, and I can't wait!
@@OutlawCamper I really appreciate that, bro! What video is it? Thanks for watching!
You could have built a rectangle fence with logs or branches around you to contain those leaves, called a Sasquatch Nest. With two contractor bags like you have you could cut one into a top quilt with a foot box that would do double duty and protect your lower legs from moisture while giving cover from wind & moisture.
Looks like a good one!
Great job!!!
@@SharonSmith-lo6cm Thanks! ❤️
Great video!
@@MattPowellOFFICIAL Thanks, brother!
Well, sure. You were just doing a very detailed part 1. It wasn't like what you showed there was the finished shelter and you were about to hunker down for the night. You did good and are doing good. You could have zoomed through it and folks wouldn't have gotten any of the parts or have a really long long video and people would have complained about that.
@@mikehart5619 Hoping to do a part 3 soon. Showing the "something to sleep in" then do an overnight video out in the cold.
Hey, brother, I'm new to your channel. God bless you. Thank you for keeping it good and clean. And never stop talking about the lord😁👍

Trash can liners suck if you're on a hill
@@brucehillbillybarthalow3786 I feel like everything kinda sucks on a hill 😄. Thanks for watching! The trash bags definitely do have a tendency to slide more than a mat or something.
@@awayinthewilderness4319 Yep, I try to avoid sleeping on the side of a hill cause I slide and in a low spot or gully cause that will fill up with water even in a light rain.
The leaves should go in the bag for the purpose of containment.
Kansas City hits -20? I had no clue.
@@cyclonasaurusrex1525 That's the coldest ever recorded. Not very often. Mainly in the single digits for lows. Negative with wind chill quite a bit.
The more hate mail you get , the better your channel does😂😂😂! I need some of that hate mail on my channel 😂😂😂.
@@corleyoutdoors2887 Thanks for watching, Corley!
@@corleyoutdoors2887 That's how it goes I guess. People are funny. 😄
Love to know what asmr is?
Hmmmm. Looks like a waist of money. Stop with the click bait. People, you don't need any of this stuff to make it over night in cold weather. Just Use your head and it would't hurt to read basic wilderness survival books. You will find out that the forest has everything you need. It will save your wallet and your life, without having a backpack full of " Consider Youself Dead Without This In Cold Weather " crap.
@@nealjolly5434 EMERGENCY is what you don't get. The whole point is imagine you're out on a hike and you realize you're lost late in the day. Perfect time to gather firewood for a long fire that will burn all night long, gather pine boughs or whatever to lay on, and construct a primitive shelter? I'd rather spend the 15 dollars on the tarp, 4 dollars on the drum liners and a little on something to sleep in. I'll leave you to knock out all the other stuff in an emergency.
@@nealjolly5434 Let's not forget the hand drill friction fire you'll have to make because you didn't want to spend a little money on a lighter.
I agree that the forest has what you need, but it's foolish to take nothing and challenge it. I do appreciate you watching, but what you're saying will have the odds of someone dying in the woods astronomically higher than if they spent a little money on some simple emergency items.
@@awayinthewilderness4319 Actually, the bow drill works wonders and no, a lighter is a penny item. Its still isn't needed. Grow a pair. Stop with the click bait. I have been a survivalist longer than you have been alive and I personally don't care if I hurt your pride or your feelings. You clearly are a needy person, who hasn't a clue about actual survival or you would stop trying to push people to buy crap that they do not need. There is no such thing, as an emergency item in the real world. Ether you have the brains or you don't. RLTW
@@awayinthewilderness4319 I agree. Sure, if you plan an overnight, you'll bring the stuff you need. If you plan to bushcraft it, you will know that there are resources there and you plan to have enough time to build your shelter and fire. You are talking emergencies when things happen that are unplanned like you get lost or a storm rolls in or you get hurt and have to spend the night when you didn't plan to. I typically don't spend a lot of money on gear and like to make my own but a basic first aid kit, extra waterproof matches, poncho, and space blanket don't cost much or take up much space and can save your life when the unexpected happens.
