Dirty pair is one of my favorites. Fun fact: it’s only touched on in Affair on Nolandia, the light novels, and a few fan mangas, but they have a sort of synchronous clairvoyance. They have to be angry and they have to touch skin to skin for it to work, but it’s their secret weapon.
Also, DP Flash is a different pair.
My personal summation of Dirty Pair: Charlie's Angels in space with a dash of pro wrestling.

I miss hand-drawn anime. With storylines that actually wood dark and interesting. Because the stuff that's out today not all of it or a lot of it is crap
The industry is really focused on waifus now and story progress is directly tied with the MC's power level.

For some reason the character design felt a bit like Ranma. So I ended up doing a bit of research.
Turns out Tsukasa Dokite was in charge of the character design for the series and OVAs, who was also involved in Urutsei Yatsura 😊

The Lovely Angels is actually their codename, and the official name provided by the W3. However their reputation proceed them as the Dirty Pair

@@PBandJo Well it isn't actually a redub, it's a dub of the Dirty Pair TV series that never got dubbed, and a chance to get all the Blu-Rays officially released State Side since they were previously only available in Japan

I enjoy watching Dirty Pair. I fist watched it at A-Kon in 2014 or 15 and I was hooked on it. I bought both the tv series and OVA.
This makes me feel like watching Cat's Eye again

You should watch Outlaw Star, it's a 90s space western like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun.
I LOVE Outlaw Star! It’s been over a decade since I last watched though. So probably worth a revisit.
Like City Hunter, really wish the Dirty Pair TV series was given a full complete English adaptation. There is some crowd funded thing going on, but I haven't heard an official release.
Fun fact, Dirty Pair and Crusher Joe are set in the same universe. There’s even a cameo by DP in the crusher joe movie.
The Dirty Pair rocks! I haven't brought myself to watch the 90s reboot yet because I love the artwork and animation style of the original too much to try to watch the spikey 90s. Does anyone know what I mean and still recommend it?!
If anybody can please tell me when on earth the English dub of the original series is coming out on right stuff....
Missed the kickstarter and feel left out and I really want the English dubbed Blu-ray....
There's something weird about faces/heads in those 80s anime.
I am not sure if this was ever shown here but The Flash series did broadcast. I now have all 3 Flash Series on DVD

@@PBandJomore exactly, the Slayers where Lina Inverse is teamed up with Naga the Serpent! They really come off as "The Dirty Pair" of Slayers!

I think they both have their merits but there’s definitely something special to be said about hand drawn anime!
The Crying Freeman movies would be perfect for you Jo. I believe there are six OVA's in all. This was a great episode and somehow I missed it. I love Dirty Pair by the way, an absolute classic.
You're probably going to hate "Dirty Pair Flash". My wife & I (Both bigtime "Dirty Pair" fans from Waaaayyyy back) tried watching it, and it was so awful we couldn't even finish the first episode.
I've never seen an opening and ending that was so 80s as that of Dirty Pair. Love it!
I've been meaning to get around to watching this one and thanks to this review I got the final push I needed. I know this is a weird recommendation but I guess I would recommend a review of Paranoia Agent since it's a one-of-a-kind anime and there's nothing remotely similar to it.

The various OVAs and series in the franchise differ wildly from action melodrama to edgy, perverse and twisted.

Man I loved Watching this back in the day. It was probably one of my starter shows when Anime was new to me. It did always feel like there was a bigger focus on interesting story writing for each episode rather than just all action, which is great! Thanks for putting thick back into my mind! May need a re-watch!
Exactly, totally agreed! And it’s such an easy watch, if that makes sense. It’s nice to have a casual show to watch unlike something heavy like AoT or something.
Yo I’ve been a follower of your husband, avalanchereviews, for a while and I gotta say your anime vids aren’t half bad. I like how straight to the point you are but also very open minded and not coming across as pretentious about it(usually the case with most anime channels).
Dirty Pair I generally like, but as far as Sunrise’s anime(the studio responsible for DP) output goes from the 80s(where they did Zeta Gundam, votoms, and layzner at the time) it’s not what I consider top tier. Though it doesn’t need to be since it’s entertaining and has cool action and top notch production values.
Out of the dirty pair stuff, Flash is what I feel is the best and is by far my favorite. Flash feels more of an original sunrise production rather than based on the books so it feels less limited Being ovas, they look gorgeous and have some incredibly flashy action sequences. Plus I’m a huge fan of takahiro kimura, the character artist for Code Geass and Gaogaigar, and I love his designs for kei and yuri.
Idk about suggestions as I can give a lot, but regarding what Sunrise has done there’s a lot of great stuff they’ve done from Gundam, Cowboy bebop, Votoms, outlaw star, Code Geass, etc. I’m not quite sure what you’d be looking in for in regards to your taste, but I can easily recommend Code Geass, The Big O, Gaogaigar, Votoms, Cyber Formula, S-cry-ed, and of course gundam to anyone. Will also say since you like dirty pair, I highly recommend checking out Crusher Joe as it’s from the same creator as Dirty Pair and consists of a movie and 2 ovas.
You had a thumbs up until 6:07. How can you say you truly appreciate this series if you would watch it dubbed? Why not replace the video with something different if you are going to replace the audio? Why not just watch something other than anime? Then you won't have to put up with any of that annoying Japaneseyness. Blocking your channel from my recommendations.
