    I think the reason there are so few videos on the 3.5NA is there is seldom a need to work on them. I just passed 200k on mine and installed the second set of spark plugs. Didn't need to but I thought it might be a good idea. In my opinion, this is one of the best engines ever. Just a tad over 210 CI and it pulls like a 400 cube engine. I've maxed this thing out on many occasions pulling heavy loads clear across the country and it does it in stride. Who needs those turbos? Two sets of plugs, and oil changes when the truck tells me it's time, usually around 8000 miles and that's it. It still runs smooth and doesn't burn a drop of oil. Just a great engine in a great truck. But thanks for the video. Good job.

      The ecoboost is nothing but a pig with lipstick. You don't need it. First thing I did when I looked at it was say, "no way" and I bought the regular aspirated. For all the ecoboost trucks I see sitting at the side of the road, I think my decision was 100%.

    Thank you very much for this video. You're right about there being no other videos on non-turbo air intake removal... it is a totally different situation than the turbo model. I'm replacing my passenger side valve cover, which is why I needed your video so bad.
    I appreicate you brother, thanks again.. and keep up the good work!!

    Great video that helped me change the spark plugs on my 2017 3.5 Flex fuel F150. My only suggestion is that when you reinstall the plenum that you torque the 7 bolts in proper sequence with 89 inch pounds of torque plus an additional 45 degree turn to each bolt. The bolt tightening sequence can be found on the Ford Truck users group. The only problem I encountered was when the rubber boot on one of the coils broke off as I was pulling it out. It took me quiet a while to get the rubber piece loosened from the plug so I could extract it. Some videos recommend that you replace all of the rubber boots when replacing plugs and it might be worth it if you plan to drive another 100K miles and need to change the plugs again. Thanks again for the video.

    • @shift-heads1686
      @shift-heads1686  Рік тому +2

      That is definitely good advice to use the proper torque sequence. As stated in the video though, I dont normally do tutorials or "how-to" type of stuff. If I did, I would definitely include torque specs, sequences, etc; glad you enjoyed it, and glad it was able to help you!

      Went to change my 2017 F150 3.5L spark plugs today. 90k miles. First 2 on the accessible left side of engine had the plug boots disconnect from the coil - so I put it them back together lol. Not sure how to get the boots off with the coils yet.

    Oh my god.THANK YOU. I have been trying to figure out how to get to those for a few weeks. Idk much about working on trucks, and this was too intimidating. You could also add "non Ecoboost" in the description to help others find it. for someone that doesnt know much about cars, i wasnt sure if "non turbo" applied to my truck or not

    Kudos for this great video. I was looking at the plug change thinking how easy it would be until I saw the one plug that the imbecile engineers covered with the plenum. The quote from a ford dealer was 5 hours and $780 CAD. It looks like you went through the agony and this is a comprehensive demo on how to save that green. One note to all the automotive engine design engineers out there is that I despise coil packs and plugs that are stuffed in a tunnel through the intake manifold. Do not do that. Bring back the days of exposed spark plugs as in pre-2000 engines so a job like this can take the 15 minutes that it should.

    • @shift-heads1686
      @shift-heads1686  6 місяців тому +1

      Took me about 2 hours to get this done. So 5 hours of labor is a very high estimate. Just be sure to change your gaskets to avoid any trouble down the road with vacuum leaks!

    • @shift-heads1686
      @shift-heads1686  Рік тому +1

      Yes, there is a gasket. Its the blue one in the video. Depending on what gasket set you order, it may be a different color. And I say gasket kit, because you can't buy that gasket by itself, you can only get it in a kit, unfortunately.

    Hey I have a 2015 3.5 non eco boost and I’m trying to find the cam position sensor b bank 1. I’ve seen diagrams of it being on top of the valve cover on the passenger side. Is that where it’s located?

    • @shift-heads1686

      Cam sensors are actually on the rear (towards the firewall) on the head. There are 2 per head. Make sure you replace the correct one. If you're not sure, I would replace all 4.
