Fats are not a problem for diabetics .. fats are better than any carbs ...they do not spike the blood sugar or increase cholesterol since cholesterol is controlled by the liver ...so things like cheese and cream are ok because they are not carbs and cause satiation after eating unlike sugars or carbs . You should also eat some carbs but know what the content is and eat in moderation ..its not about stopping all carbs ..carbs are ok in small doses .

I simply can not control my diabetes. I have tried and tried. I suffer terribly with depression, and because of this, I tend to comfort eat. This, in turn, spikes my sugar levels dangerously high. I had a CGM and oats took my blood sugar from 4.9 to 11.5 so oats isn't good for me. Go and invest in a CGM for 1 month. You'll soon find out what is not good for you. Its a worthwhile investment. I was pre-diabetic at 5.7 had to change my eating habits. Was well worth it.

I'm on insulin and match carb grams eaten with insulin units dosed. I drink whole milk no problem. I eat about 60 of carbs per meal. My A1C is well controlled at 6.0. if you are T2 then you have strict carb limits and don't eat sugar or drink sugar drinks. T2 is a hard life mine is easy I think.
Don't eat anything made with wheat, barley or rye. Less sugar. Eat meat and some potatoes. All kinds of gluten free products out there but not all good for you, but try the no wheat for six months, you'll weight and feel better.
Potatoes are ok just don't over do it. I'm not diabetic so I'm now sure what is restricted but definitely the stop to eating stuff with wheat and related things has made me loss weight and fell a lot better and I'm 83.
