The Skyflash missiles where really good on it before they nerfed all the missiles.
Also, dont forget the ludicrous stock grind for the british phantoms,124k rp to get more aim9D's, 144k if you get flares beforehand. Remember, 2 stock aim9D's to fight mig29's
And remember that the only phantoms that HAVE TO do this - British
F4J(UK) is just a sad premium to play and grind with
Early and late versions of the phantoms would drastically make it easier to use as the early FG.1 (I.e., during it's service in the FAA) would have the Aim-7E and the -9G I belive and it did not use the gunpod. However, before they retired from the FAA they were able to use the 20mm the Skyflash and the Lima. Likewise with the FGR.2. It's early versions had the 7E and 9G while having the gunpod and able to use the AGM-12 and We.177 nuclear bomb while during their modernisation they had Skyflash and Lima capability. The F.3 could have all of these from the start.
11.3 too, considering that’s the same as the F-4J with Aim7F’s it should get the Lima’s (edit: FG.1 with 9G’s at 11.0, and the FGR.2 with Lima’s at 11.3 would probably give a little variety between the choices, though a 12.0 game is a guarantee)

@@jasperhunter8386 How can the british one be worse then the F4F. It literally gets NO radar missles. I would take AIM7D all day long over no SARH at all. Sure it gets the agile eagle package but who would DF you if nearly everone has SARH. And if someone DF you hes probably more agile then you.
This is an insanely odd take, and one that is controversially over-opinionated, and borderline false.
The FGR.2 and FG.1 are not the worst Phantoms. That award can be given to the German F-4F and U.S F-4C, even with their respective BR differences.
In all these clips, you fail to utilize the Phantom to its strengths.
You do not bring the gun pod, which by its very nature is a problem, because despite the extremely mild performance hit, the 1200 M61 Vulcan rounds will always be potent.
You claim the Skyflash DF is a horrible missile, because you are trying to use it like an R-24. The DF literally stands for Dogfight, as it can pull 25Gs nearly off the rail. The Skyflash is essentially an AIM-7E-2 with an AIM-7F seeker head, which will perform better in the areas that you fail to showcase:
-Head-on engagements < 8km
-Slow-speed high alt interceptions
-Extremely close head on pot shots (< 2km)
You cannot use the Skyflash at Angels 30 against targets 40 kilometres away, because that is not what the missile is designed to do!
Yes, the AIM-9Gs are not the best IR missile. But they still are extremely effective at ranges between 2-5km. But the FGR.2, as well as the F-4J(UK) both exclusively used the AIM-9L, so that could change in an instant.
In summary, the FGR.2 and FG.1 are still extremely potent at top tier, provided you do not play them like a Viper. It seems to be the trend of UA-camrs to hate on an aircraft simply because it isn’t a MiG-29, and who use tactics that do not even remotely fit the play style of that respective aircraft.
Enough with the click bait, and please try and accurately represent the aircraft you review, instead of disliking an aircraft simply because it does not fit YOUR preferred play style.
skyflash performs well close range... who gets close range with a radar missile? Better jets will fire their radar missiles before you, you die and missile stops tracking. Yeah BVR fighting is dumb but these are wayyyy too close range to get anything done. Plus only having long range heat seekers is painful once the dumb people who don't look around die.
@@brandoncrooks1681 I already explained this to you but your being ignorant no one bothers wasting sarh missiles beyond 10kms cause people go cold, notch and chaff so its literally pointless. The success chance of getting a kill is like 30% even with 7f and r27/r24s and in terms of 2km shots sky flashes have a proxy fuse which do give it an advantage of it doesn't directly hit the plane and it will still go off not forgetting good spooling time. Problem is people like what the guy above said are trynna play it like f16s and mig 29s or even mig 23s which isn't the case. It's like majority of the player base refuse to play vehicles differently and adapt. I would hate to see warthunder Community adapt to different changes in in other games. Cause all I see right now are people rn are crying to their own skill issue

I do really hat the stock grind on this jet, arguably the worst in game. When the fgr2 fights at its own br or lower it dose proform. But getting chucked into 12.0 matches 9/10 times it's just not fun and cannot compete with the other jet. I would say 10.7 as is or 11.0 with aim9ls
As a low tier player the only real issue I have with the game is the lack of love for the low tiers. Everything is focused on the top end whihc I suppose is where the money is, but it leaves us out in the cold.
I personally couldn't give two hoots about whether or not an 11.3 F-4 is "fun" or who has BVR missiles at 12.0, I want to know how long we have to wait to get drop tanks for the P-51 or an ejector seat for the Ta-154, or if we will ever get the Boulton Paul Defiant, the B-17C/D or the Ju-86.
you are right about why top tier gets added but also Gaijin already worked on low tiers, back when there only was low tier. And they still add stuff today, like the lancaster's bomb & props here and there. But I don't think drop tanks on a p51 are needed, or an ejector seat, and since the aircraft you mentioned are obscure, I don't think we need them either. Low tier gameplay is as fleshed out as it will be. and why would you need drop tanks, props can carry a shit ton of fuel. Maybe you play sim though

I feel the same way. It is strange bc I haven’t experienced these problems myself but I can see what he is saying it definitely has the most unique play style

Definitely it was my first tech tree and I have played it through a lot of the updates so u have to adapt gradually and the change is less noticeable
It's possible to still do good in medicore/bad planes but they're still objectively not competitive, like the F-4s is a pretty decent phantom but an equally experienced Mig29 player will dunk on you every time and you can't do anything.
Fg1 phantom in my opinion looks the best, out of all phantoms
F-4J(UK) have AIM-9L on game file
btw i have no problem giving those AIm-9L and make it 11.7
It should get the aim9L and stay at the same BR. the F4S would still be better due to it having slats, hmd and still having overall better missile load (aim7f) The f4J UK at least, is the worst plane at 11.3.

Like I said, the F4S and most other 11.3 aircraft would still be better than the F4JUK even if it had aim9L's. This is just another case of Gaijins blatent hatred toward Britain.

F4F for Germany at 11.0 in sb is an insult to everyone with common sense. It’s at a higher br than the F4E which gets BVR AAM’s *and* 3x as many AGM65’s to use in the ground attack role. There is ZERO reason for the jet with identical flight characteristics and fewer weapon options to be at a higher br.
This is the real crime.

@@r31gn16 Untill you face Aim9J + R60M's + Aim9L's, remember the F4C is kinda fast, doesnt turn, doesnt have good radars since its a pain using the Aim7D's (I think they got rid of them) and best of all, flares, youre the bomber of the match tbh, and its just sad

the F-4F Early is the true phantom pain because it is a great plane but with ZERO flares. Gotta clinch ur butt every time you queue it up (and iirc no radar missiles to equip at 10.3)
I use rockets as makeshift flares, but they’re weird at times. Usually, they work well, but sometimes, missiles just track through the rockets even in a head-on.
It's an amazing phantom in my eyes because of its ludicrous powerful engines allowing you to go 850 mph at low alt and like 1000+ at high alts... your speed is your biggest plus...
Personally the skyflashs feel good as a close range missile but feels useless beyond 10km it has good acceleration and low burn time
At the beginning of the game, there are seven or eight F4S robbing four bases, do you wonder?
These phantom variants have way better engine than the US counterpart and basically the same PDV radar as was found on F4J yet the sit at BR10.7 in SB and the shitty US F4E variant which was underpowered and only get to access shitty radar and still sits 0.3 BR higher in SB than the UK phantoms
I'm currently playing the German Phantom and I have to say that this thing is by far the worst version.
F4C the worst? Same for Germany? Are you serious? Do you want a Br at 9.0 because no flares or no goid missiles BVR or a bomber rôle ? They are good, the problem is the fact their is many premium 10.3 ou aim9l. But for British they have everttjing who is worst: easy nitch, skyflash... flash nothing and are equal to aim7E 2 dogfight, rocket sneb, aim9G when other 11.3 have P or H or Aim7F. Its a F4E without cas possibilities at 11.3!
Fg 1 replaced the sea harrier as britains carrier fighters so they would have had the 9L when it came into service, the fgr got them at the same time as the sea harriers during the Falklands but didnt start life with them.. and the aim 9L is just an all aspect 9G that tracks quicker off the rail iirc, it's definitely not bad if you go high alt you can get 7-8km snipes with them

They are really good. They have good burn rate, hard to notch and have a very solid constant turn. Would love to see how you are using it
I keep bringing this up and then get hit with all the “skill issue” trolls, I don’t get what the deal is with Britain Air to Air constantly being underhanded, compare everything below the tornado to the Mig23 and it just feels stupid to play.
That being said I’m having fun bombing bases, will continue to do so until the game feels more balanced and playable
its not great, best way to play it is sea level and just try and kill people at close range with radar missiles

Ngl i used to think the F-4C was the worst but ever since i learned how to play it it is god tier
Its really infuriating because the Skyflash in my eyes is a really good missile, but it is severely hampered by how the radar behaves at low altitude. Alternatively, you could play at high altitude, but then you get raped by AIM-7Fs and AIM-7Ms that just easily outrange you.
I do like the idea of giving the FGR.2 9Ls, but we could put it down to something like 11.0 without its 9Ls so it sees less F-16s, MiG-29s and so on… though AIM-9Ls are actually decent missiles, so Gajoobles should give the 4M the 9Ls, and push the 4K to 11.0.

I can tell you that both the fg1 one and fgr 2 can pull higher aoa turns and be on a 6 of a plane so quick because its engines are so powerful that the air brakes act as combat flaps and therefore doesn't lose as much speed as your american f4s and i can attest to that. they are definitely not the worst and i can tell you that agile eagle is not be all and end all. Yeah sure it could use some 9ls especially fgr 2 which it did carry but its far from the worse. Also i would take teh skyflash over 7fs in most cases because of fast spool time because shooting at 15km means jack shit when everyone and their mums can turn in time to notch or go cold. so a lot of head on engagements are like 7kms or less which skyflashes do well cause of insane lock on times
flight performance at top tier means very little + nobody will notch or turn away for a missle that is launched at 8km and is faster than your missile. You can't get close range with skyflashes, because longer range, faster missiles, will reach you before your skyflash reaches them.
@@brandoncrooks1681 yeah it's true but at 8km with the spool time with 7fs and any other contempary longer range sarh missiles it's just about even by the time 7fs have spooled the sky flashes would already be off the rails with a good half a second flight time already and 7fs need minimum at least 7kms to reach full speed so in a way sky flashes are just better in the sub 10 or 8km ranges cause they don't take long to spool up. It's more a case of who shoots first wins and unfortunately the 7fs don't perform in a burst of performance like the sky flashes or 7e2s can and I will also add the sky flashes are around a kilo lighter than 7e2s and so theoretically burn for slightly longer which is sort of night and day Difference with the latest missile drag patch
@@duc1755 i think you are underestimating how slow previous generation sarhs are compared the newer 7fs and r24's. and it doesn't matter if it is almost there, or close, because once you die your missile stops tracking. Skyflashes are decent but when 11.3 is where 7fs and r24s live, you won't win unless you're fighting somebody without a radar missile. we need more br decompression, 11.0 and 11.3 are much different places than 10.3 and 10.7, and although the phantom needs to be downtiered, it will just invade all of the f5c games & stomp. Sadly the BR system is retarded. Everybody is playing 10.3, so 10.3s will get uptiered into a match with mostly 10.3 & 11.0 players, and 4 11.3s. 11.3s will be uptiered into a match with unlimited 12.0s. At 11.0, you either get the 4 12.0s or the F5c stomping ground, BRs are so shit & so the bri'ish phantom will either suck ass or stomp depending on if it gets downtiered or not.
@@brandoncrooks1681 7fs and sky flashes literally travel the same speed. One takes longer to accelerate whilst other has instant acceleration but burns quicker. 7fs are good snd all that if you can get 15km kills on unaware players but a lot of jousting is literally around 6kms where everyone is in a furball. If your 15kms away from anyone then you literally have no impact in the game.
@@duc1755 if you are 15km away out of spawn and have people locked up you definitely are doing something. And maybe 7fs and skyflashes are same flight speed but r24s are faster. I don't like "BVR" fighting as much as the next guy but if you can get a kill on somebody as the furball gets together thats 1 less person in the fight. If your team loses 3 people in a row, your team has probably lost. Other generation missiles are free kills, especially russian ones.

I disagree tbh, love your channel but these 2 aircraft in capable hands are wonderful, able to beat the f4s and f5s with less then 20 mins of fuel if flown properly. Ive often got 8 kills in this and have a kd ratio of 2.8, they get a lot of bad rep but they little bit extra power from the engines goes a surprisingly long whrn used properly with the rudder, anyways keep up the good work!

Sorry mate I completely disagree with the branding as 'the worst phantom', you're trying to play it like a MiG-23, and it shows. I've flown these things a hell of a lot, as well as the F-4C and E, I'd say the British phantoms are my favourite of the 4 I have. Nowhere near the 'worst'
Might be your favorite because they are better than the other ones without respect to BR. with respect to BR, these are the worst. Plus stock grind is horrible. thank god motherfuckers are dumb and don't look at your aim9D's, but these are horrible. F4C is 10.0 which is great (altho no flares)
