That same trick you used to make a straight cut with your circular saw can be used to make a straight line with your router. Just clamp a ruler or level onto the top of the nightstand as a guide for your router to follow.

I'll be honest, it seemed like your paint was already thinned. And your container looks totally different than the standard general finishes cam. I use general finishes milk paint often and its always pretty thick. Great video!

The packaging looks a little different for the General Finishes Milk Paint I've used before. Maybe because they are the custom colors. General Finishes Milk paint is the first paint I ever used for spraying. It kinda spoiled me because you really don't need to water it down and it sprays beautifully. Their black is AMAZING!!! Great products.
These nightstands turned out amazing. I love the color. And I love how you repurposed that old desk.

Oh, yes. That makes more sense. So it was specifically for a woman. Makes sense why it is so small then.

You're correct, Cynthia. This set (the desk and the vanity) was willed to my wife by her grandmother.
We have both upstairs a spare bedroom. They are in perfect condition. I guess when we die, some wild and crazy furniture flipper will cut them up and paint them purple. It makes me shudder to think about that!
      Thanks for the video.

One of the things that I am trying to conquer in my later life is the attachment to things that I seem to have. I find that I'm especially tied to things that used to belong to my dear relatives. After a while, these old possessions become clutter and dominate your life and rather own you. I'm working on it. @@remya4000

Wow, you are so talented. I wish there had been videos back when I was younger because I was always asking my dad to teach me about building but he said it was man’s work and not girls. Then when I went into high school I wanted to take wood shot and was informed that wood shop was for the boys and I had to take home education. I’m 80 now and so disappointed that I didn’t have the opportunity to do this kind of stuff while I still could. I do, however, have a scroll saw that is easy for me to cut out small projects for my tole painting.

Been using Multi-purpose Bondo for some of my projects and here are a couple of tips- When the bondo is drying but still soft, you can carve the bigger chunks off or shape it; also, the more you shape the bondo or scrape it with a putty knife when you apply it, the easier and faster it is to sand down the excess. Really helps when using on flat surfaces.

Just watched your video turning this little desk into two end tables, fabulous ! so impressed, doing at saving these old pieces ! I’ve been refinishing furniture for 50 years, and I still felt like I learned some things from you. I must say in the use of Bondo, I also use the regular & wood filler, when applying it I use the plastic Bondo tool, it makes the filled surfaces so smooth, very little sanding, unless the repair area is a strange shaped surface. Not trying to be critical at all. I love what you’re doing just a tip in case you didn’t realize that. Thanks again I’ve subscribed and really enjoyed watching your project.!

You did a beautiful job of changing this piece to something else and your instructions are always clear, understandable and educational, thank you. I do have a question and I know you say things don’t have to be perfect but as you were showing the final result the decorative lines you didn’t care for around the drawers that you filled in were still noticeable maybe due to thinning the paint since I don’t remember noticing other repairs in the past any ideas for a solution maybe another coat of paint or? just curious.

Nicely done! I love them! I do have a question and I hesitate to ask because I don’t want to offend by any means. Where you put the bonds on the details on the front, you can still see that through the paint. Is there a way to avoid that? Would priming first help, or more layers of paint? I truly love your channel and your work, so please believe me when I ask this it’s not me trying to insult your work by any means. ❤❤❤I learn so much from you and you inspire me.

    • @ChristinaMuscari

Great question. You would need to grain fill the drawer fronts (basically spread filler all across the drawer and sand and then prime. I knew the design and wood grain would still show up, I like that character, but can understand not everyone would like that look.
