These days I just stick with sunscreen, skin tint, innisfree no sebum powder, mlbb lipstick and concealer (if Ihave acne). Sometimes I just skip the skin tint if I'm going to stay in the office all day. All of these fit in a palm size pouch which include a mini perfume. Thanks to you Haley, I only buy what I really need. Feels great so far.
@@whereyoubean currently I use local brand Silkygirl Moisture Rich in shade Taupe and it is similar to Maybelline Nude Nuance. I prefer deeper mlbb shades maybe because my personal color is soft, deep, cool (self-diagnosed, I might be wrong) and mom approved 🤣. She's my biggest critique. edit: Rom&nd bare grape looks good as well.
I think it’s really important to choose make up products that work for YOU. I stopped using concealer and foundation all together and only use a a tiny bit of powder foundation on the sites of my red nose as a base. A lot of liquid products tend to be heavy on the skin and clog the pores even when you have “only“ combination skin.
Totally agree with you. I have acne prone skin and I also use only sunscreen and colored powder foundation (I don’t like glossy look it emphasizes my pimples and pores even If I have only several not really visible pimples) I only use concealer under eye. Whenever I tried any foundation, cushions it always look way to thick and visible, maybe good for photo, but not for everyday Skincare is a key, vitamin C greatly reduces discoloration, Azelaic acid reduces redness, niacinamide also helps to even out skin tone Cos de baha is affordable skin care brand Now it looks like a commercial
Yea but i feel like this whole what works for YOU strategy which even lot of brands use is counterproductive because to find this out you still need to try different things which feeds more into consumer cycle. Also its hard to shake off the need or desire to follow trends. Thus what works for us might change depending on what is trending.
@user-fg7fw3ji6u same goes for skincare a lot of skincare is bullshit science made to sell more products and its not difficult to fake data or study. Skincare might be our diet or makeup culture nd 10 years from now we'll be finding oh all this shit was actually causing cancer and was not 'care' at all.
As some one with a darker skin tone, colour corrector is a must for me because the available concealer and foundation shades don't match my skin that well. I just buy an intense colour corrector and mix it in with my foundation or concealer to make my perfect match. I used to apply it directly but needed too much foundation/concealer to cover up.
As an oily girl with big pores, primer and setting spray really worked wonders for me especially if I have events. On a daily though, I skip them and just use a skin tint to let my skin somehow breathe compared to using foundation.
My skin is prone to redness easily, hence why color corrector is an absolute must. Plus, my skin looks better with the primer and setting spray is also a must otherwise my makeup will come off or easily smudge. But I can also understand where you are coming from at the same time so I appreciate the advice.
Hi Haley! I just came across your channel and subscribed to it. It is so difficult nowadays to find a makeup tutorial channel WITHOUT filter! I truly thank you for that and all of the makeup advice/tutorials.
I'm in my 20s and never worn anything beyond foundation and concealer. As a complete beginner, your videos have been invaluable to help me navigate through the complexities of make up. Thank you!
I love these tips! After doing my makeup for a few years now, I've decided what I actually need and what I don't. I bought a color corrector once but found I don't need it, even though I have very severe dark circles the right shade of a high-coverage concealer usually takes care of it pretty well. I also found that I do need setting spray to combat the school air because no matter the skin prep I do or barely touching my face or setting with powder, my makeup always wipes off at the end of the day so it all depends on your individual needs like Haley said
Haley would you kindly please share with us your body/hair care routine. Please, pretty please. I've been binge watching your videos lately and trying the product that you recommend literally work amazing for me! You are the most trustable beauty guru i know so far!
Thank you very much, you're not only said why it doesn't needed but you also show tutorials of how to do make up without them Never thought I could watch this for free, this is great contents
I definitely need color corrector, I have very intense under eye circles/pigmentation (pink concealer/color corrector under my eyes has been a game changer for my light olive skin tone) as is green concealer for my hyperpigmentation. I use green color corrector also for my foundation to change it to match my skin tone. Givenchy/EXA/Temptu are great options. Primer and setting spray is great for my large pores/acne ice pick scars/combo skin. Women with olive skin or darker skin tones often need color correctors fyi!
Hey, i don't know if you would read this but I think you can make a video about how to multitask makeup products for beginners. How about project pan? That would be cool. 👍❤️
Agree on all, but for me the biggest one was foundation! I spent so much time trying to find a good foundation, when I didn't even need it for my lifestyle. I wish I knew to just get a good concealer, I would've saved a lot of money :)
Thank you Haley for helping us avoid overconsumption ♡ In my perspective, social media has made us feel okay to buy any (w/o research) and numerous beauty products that we will never finish. Your videos emphasize that we need to be conscious of the things we buy, and the importance of skin care (◕‿◕)
L A girl peach color corrector was the game changer for me. And no makeup would sit on my skin but rather than high end products a simple glycerine rose water spray worked wonders
Thank you so much for uploading these video. After I found your channel, my perspective with makeup and myself was changed completely. Love your video!
products i recco for begginers cushion powder concealer highlighter eyeshadow palette mascara eyeliner (brown, black or both. could be pen, liquid... wtv works best) liptint
Actually i need the color corrector but using the liquid one shade for my under eyes, until now havent found any concealer that actually match my skintone😭🤌🏻
personally i NEED setting spray, having oily skin and sweating quite easily, it’s life changer. even though i use only light skin tint and set my face with the baking technique setting spray is still required for me.
good to know I m buying only what I need/the necessary version(like the colour corrector). but so natural setting spray the normal version isn't it for oily skin, it did make any powder less powdery on my skin but did nothing for longevity, just get the one size one if you want something make your makeup really last
Cool video, thank you for providing so much insight Haley! Unfortunately for me, I cannot live without my setting spray and eyebrow powder 😅 I have used eyebrow powder since I started loving to use makeup and I find it more comfortable to use than regular eyebrow pencil, because I don't have to worry I'll make my brows too bold. I also have oily skin and I live in a humid tropical country (Southeast Asia gang here) so I really need setting spray to set my makeup and make them last longer. The struggle to use less products on oily skin + humid country is real 😂
me too! i have to keep powdering my face throughout the day or not my face is going to get too oily, though I am combi skin, so setting spray/powder really helps! though i usually put setting spray after sunscreen if I am not wearing any makeup
Southeast asian too 🙋♀️(which country, i'm from Malaysia btw)! I also can't leave the setting spray. once i forgot to apply the setting spray, my makeup became cakey and did not last longer even though i already prep my skin and set with powder😅
In defense of setting spray for dry skin. I use fix it from Mac because if I have been wearing makeup for a few hours my face feels very dry and tight (very uncomfortable) due to the (very little amount) setting powder, so I spray fixit and it helps.
Whilst I agree with not needing entire palettes, I disagree not needing with color correctors at all as I am south asian, we have a lot of hyperpigmentation around the mouth area and most of us have neutral or olive undertones. It isn't easy being green in the makeup industry so you need the blue corrector on hand as the deeper the skintone, the more orange the foundations get it gets .
for someone who has very light skin and darkest possible under circles color corrector is a must thing for me. applying concealer makes dark circles appear grey.... it's even worse...
That was supper good! I was about to invest in some contour. Love ur videos. Skin prep video plss and also i would like to hear about your fav lip and cheek tints and also lip plummer. Lots of luv 💗
I can’t make colour corrector works so I use under eye brightener from Rare Beauty. It works better for me. Sometimes I just use it alone, else just add concealer for thicker coverage.
This approach is so helpful! For everyday use, I've found that the best "base" for me is just a light sunscreen/moisturizer, with powder foundation on top while it's still wet. I use concealer for the dark circles under my eyes (I'm lucky to have a really great concealer). Then, I just add whatever makeup I want for that day - usually a light pencil eyeliner, lip balm, and blush (although I'm still trying to figure that part out). It's fun to wear more makeup for special events, but if I just want to look professional for work, then I'm very fortunate that those four or five products are all I need! Now, if I'm actually doing something special, then I DEFINITELY need colour corrector for my eyes and nose, but that's the only big exception. There's a lot of things I had to figure out on my own... but I also got a lot of my makeup at the dollar store growing up. 😅 At least I wasn't financially wasteful with my experiments, but as an adult, I try a "less is more" approach. It's more efficient, less wasteful, much simpler, and I'm pretty sure my skin appreciates having less product on it.
I very rarely wear make up and have always used a matching eye shadow from an eye shadow palette I own as eye brow powder. I also guess it would be even harder for me to match my eye brow colour with an eye brow powder since I am a Ginger. My eyebrows are a light reddish brown.
I just can't skip setting spray 😩 if I don't use it then my foundation will leave smudges all over my clothes, I like to sleep on boring lessons so mist is a must have for me.
I've never been a big makeup girl to begin with so I've generally stuck with sunscreen, a mattifying primer and powder for my oily chin and forehead, and either a lip gloss or a lipstick when I go out. Maybe I'll add a touch of a cream-to-powder eyeshadow and/or a little powder blush if I feel like I want more color.
Haley, can you please tell me what lip product you are using here? It looks gorgeous. I'm on the hunt for the perfect MLBB as an olive skin which is kinda hard. Thank you for these tips. ☺️
Hi Haley, i have uneven skin tone. The area around my mouth and chin is darker than rest of the face. Would you suggest colour corrector for this case (which colour specifically)? Because I don’t think it will look natural if I cover that bigger than normal area to conceal with a concealer. I have dry-combination skin.
You know “to cool for school Artclass” shade 2 Modern Do you know of the contour shade as the first lightest shade in this 3color pallet I want a Korean one, but not sure if it will turn out the same shade or will be too warm
Green MAYBELLINE primer! Idk if it works on me only because I’m olive but it erases my redness. Evens whole face and this brand lasts half the day… I wear it all by itself a lot with a little blush and powder my eyes. My secret weapon.
Hey Haley Your content is just amazing. Learnt so much from you since last year. Thanks to you my make up game is totally changed n became more simplified n easy . Love from India. Can you plz share the lipstick name that you are wearing in the video it’s beautiful 😍
Hi Sis..... Yours minimalist make-up tips were very useful to me I do not like heavy makeups... Your videos helped me to save lot of money from buying unnecessary things 😊... But have I have one question can you suggest me a natural looking skin tins or tinted sunscreen or tone up creams (if needed) since I don't ware foundation ???? Please 🙏🙏
I'm struggle with my hooded eyes. Mostly i skip eyeliner n eye shadow. Cz they don't appear, so i can't see it 😂 For me. Start with sunscreen, liptint as blush n lips, compact powder n mascara. Done
I'm glad you made this video Haley!❤ Sometimes I worry that I might be overspending by buying makeup products that I end up not using. Also I don't know if you would reply to my comment, but I really want to know what lipstick you're wearing in this video? I like the shade😍
hi haley, i have a problem when i wear cushion foundation, it will get suuuuuper oily at the end of the day. especially around my forehead area. it looks so greasy that i end up not wearing my foundation anymore😢 but i want that makeup-y look hahah. do you have any ways to improve this?
Haley! I love the way you think about making videos like this despite being a beauty influencer! I've loved you for a long time, and I'll always love you. From far away Japan, with love.🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I disagree. Primer makes a huge difference for super oily or super dry skin. Blush is typically not needed because these days you can use lip products for blush.
I cannot understand the settings spray part 8:24 .. And what is the meaning of polymers? Can anyone help me get it? Please translate only this part in Arabic if you can. thank you 💗
I skip foundation altogether and only use concealer for spots and a pretty looking powder, it gets the job done. And since i have naturally full eyebrows (bushy at times) i *never* buy anything related to the brows. No gels, eyebrow pencil, nothing to fill it in. I use my bronzer palette as a warm-toned eyeshadow as it looks too orange-y on my cheeks. And a cool-toned eyeshadow from my eyeshadow palette to just contour my nose. That eyeshadow palette also has a lovely shimmery nude color that's perfect for highlighter Also no false lashes, my eyes get watery asf throughout the day and would rather spend money on a higher quality mascara than buying so many lashes and eyelash glue.

Yay! Thank you!
hi haley! I'm just letting you know that the link for your discord on your UA-cam and video description has expired as I can't join the discord :)
Omg I've been trying to join for so long 😢
Anyone know what foundation the semi matte finish one is?
🙋♀️It‘s Kosas’s Revealer Foundation!
Thank you! ❤
I disagree. Primer makes a huge difference for super oily or super dry skin. Blush is typically not needed because these days you can use lip products for blush.
I love blush with glitter ☹
and bronzer!!!
My dark circles need a color corrector 😢
That eyeshadow palette also has a lovely shimmery nude color that's perfect for highlighter
Also no false lashes, my eyes get watery asf throughout the day and would rather spend money on a higher quality mascara than buying so many lashes and eyelash glue.
As a black girl with a five oclock shadow...yes i do need a color correcter
