I wish I had the chance to watch videos like this in high school, when I covered my face with powder that NEVER matched my skin tone and cleaned it with ONLY water.............................haley, you are the best!❤❤
I hope it's not rude, but I want to add one thing, find a good color match base makeup, like concealer and foundation. Now, if you find warm foundation is too yellow and too orange on you, neutral is too grey, and cool is too pink, you might have an olive undertone. It's hard to find Olive colour-based makeup. One trick: use a green colour corrector/pigment and mix it. I found this tip in the comment section in the Haley Kim Olive Skin video. Haha, thank you, Haley and the person who recommended these tips ❤. Now I could achieve natural makeup.
oml tysm I’ve been tryinggg to find a good foundation and concealer to match my skin tone but I’ve never found one that was more olive-toned 😭 life saverrr
Thank you so much, im 17 and now begin to step in the world of makeup. It's gonna be hard and time consuming but i hope that everything will be okay 💕💕
Goodluck! I'm 16 and I barely mastered my skin care routine, now I'm trying to add in a make-up routine but I don't even wear mascara 😭 literally only clear mascara on my eyebrows (not eyelashes - it makes them droop down) and chapstick 😭😭 idk how imma go through this journey lol
A little reminder that you don’t need to throw out your foundation or concealer now… you can just mix both with your moisturizer for a less coverage/more natural look.😊
a thing i wish i knew when i was younger is just how much my hormones would play into my skin type and how failing to work WITH my skin would cause irreparable damage. i would use mac’s studio concealer basically as foundation all over my oily sensitive skin, and it caused soooo much redness and breakouts, which i’d cover with more concealer! i’m in my mid-30’s now and just FINALLY undoing some of the damage i did to my skin in my teens. my advice for teens would be - let your skin lead. if it reacts to products, focus on your skin health before focusing on covering it up!!
EXACTLY! im 17 now i regret starting makeup at 11 years old mostly because i wasnt listening to my skins needs at all i would never clean my beauty blender never moisturise before putting on layers after layers of crusty unmatched foundation just to go shopping leading me to break out after break out after break out and even drier skin than before now i properly know how to do makeup but i rarely wear foundation mostly concealer and mascara MAYBE blush and a lip oil and my skin is so much better
I just turned 14 a couple years ago, and I don’t think many understand that it is completely normal that these kids want makeup. It isn’t to cover their insecurities or whatever they just want to grow up sooner. I had tons of kid advertised makeup but it didn’t feel grown up enough so I wanted more. Even now I wear very little makeup but sometimes concealer and mascara with lipgloss daily.
idk why but the minecraft enhancement sound effect around 7:15 made me so strangely happy for some reason 😭 but thank you for this vid!! i'm a teen and ur legit one of my fav creators rn in the beauty category n i love ur healthy takes on make up and i'm so glad i came across ur vids 🩷🥺
Her videos are still comforting to me until today. Started watching as a teenager. Still here as an adult. Reminds me of all the reasons why make up is uplifting calming empowering and beautiful... Love you pretty sister.❤❤❤❤
I am a teenager. so this helps a lot. Haley has also taught me how to love myself and not wear makeup for others or hiding something. Makeup is just a tool for enhancing beauty and you can use it as long as you don't feel uncomfortable without it. Because once you start wearing makeup a lot, you feel ugly without it.
Haley could you please make a hairstyle video? Like the way you style your hair into updos is just chef's kiss. Also, haircuts you would suggest for different face shapes. I definitely think hair is a BIG part of the look.
This is suuuucchh a good video! I could have used this information when I first started doing my makeup It seems like there’s a lot of other teens/beginners in the comments so here’s some tips I’ve learned as an almost 17yo who’s been doing makeup since I was 12 - a good skin care routine will help you feel and look a lot better than makeup, even just washing your face and moisturizing before sleeping is great! - cheap is not necessarily bad, brands like e.l.f, L.A.Colors, Essence, and Wet ‘n Wild are affordable and really great quality! - Vaseline can be your best friend, you can use it as a moisturizer literally everywhere, on your body, your face, your lips, I like to put a little bit on my finger and use it like a clear mascara - always always wash your hands before you touch your face, eyes, pimples, or before you do your skin care, bacteria spreads very easily - acne, blemishes, and dark spots are normal and beautiful, don’t let them discourage you - always wear sunscreen! It’s super important and protects you, even in winter - if you want whiter teeth without using whitening strips I recommend Arm & hammer toothpaste, or you can mix baking soda into your toothpaste, it helps remove stains without damaging your teeth, floss daily, brush 2-3x a day - drink lots of water, it really helps in so many ways - get as much sleep as you can - I personally like lip gloss and lip oils so much more than lipstick, they hydrate your lips and you don’t have to worry about finding a perfect shade - don’t waste your money on super expensive makeup and skin care, expensive doesn’t always mean better, sometimes it’s worth it but not always, it’s better to save your money for other things - makeup is supposed to make you feel pretty, not ugly, focus on what you enjoy and what makes you feel better about your natural beauty - always check your makeup in natural lighting before going out, sometimes too much orange/white light makes your makeup look especially cakey - wash your hair brushes and clean any stuck on hair out, old grease, dirt, hair, dandruff can make your hair greasier faster - instead of buying an eyeliner pencil/pen I like to use dark brown or black eyeshadow, put a little on your finger or on a small makeup brush and it gives a softer and more natural look - highlighter as eyeshadow is one of my favorite things! It adds a subtle shine that looks really pretty That’s all I can think of right now, feel free to add more tips in the replies!
I agree with almost what you wrote except the baking soda and toothpaste part. I tried this and my dentist told me to stop because baking soda is really abrasive and can damage the tooth enamel so I didn’t do it again!
As an older teenager, this is such an amazing and helpful video! I don't have much experience in the beauty department and have learned a lot from your channel, this video is probably the most relevant one to me; I'll definitely be using what I've learned. Thank you for your efforts and for sharing your expertise, it shines through the screen that you really care about the well-being of us girls out here! 😊
I agree makeup is a journey that's forever changing. I didn't need that much foundation in middle school. I wish I used skincare like more moisturizer back then. But then again we didn't have all the minimal products like now. Now I'm more confident about my acne scars and learn to use just enough coverage so they don't look even more textured.
You are probably the only makeup artist who teaches the right mentality but not just the techniques about makeup. Makeup should be a tool to Enhance our unique features but not to make us look not like ourselves. Great job 👏
i mean, to me, as an older teenager (and also a guy, but that’s neither here nor there), i prefer matte/semi-matte lip tints as well eyeliner, an eyeshadow palette consisting of soft pinks and browns, as well as some glitters. also a tinted moisturiser, and matte blush. a good eyeshadow palette can be used as just about anything. i’m not a big fan of glossy/dewy finishes. it all depends on the person. for example, i’m not a big fan of mascara because i don’t like the feel of something coating my lashes, nor do i like the way it looks on me. a makeup “need” differs between people.
@@mossbrained im the same way with mascara so when i apply it i use a spooly and brush it out so it looks super natural and the feeling wont bother me and also the stuff i listed is more just for if you like a basic look that will only take like 5mins and for if you have strict parents like i do 😢
@@Imanii4lifee mn, that's true. i'm already about to go to college but those with very strict parents, or those who are younger could surely take some ideas from your product listing.
Hi Haley!! I'm a beginner in makeup and having online resources like your channel has been a huge help for me! I like how beginner friendly your videos are, your explanation is easy to comprehend, and I love the fact that you also always show simple demo instead of just telling. I really appreciate that. Thank you so much, Haley! Keep up the great job and hope to see you again on my makeup journey ❤❤❤
I purchased the corrector (the SREM) according to your recommendations. It is wonderful, has a light consistency, and is reasonably priced. I finally found the corrector of my dreams.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Haley, can you please create a makeup tutorial for teens with products that last despite the school air. And can you please make it very natural that it is unnoticeable.
Hello Kim, I love your channel, I have watched all your videos and I love how you do your makeup and the way you teach, I am 46 years old, but I like to do my makeup in a simple and not overloaded way, thank you for everything you offer us 😘
I agree with her that education in beauty is important I didn’t even know that some products can be harmful depending on age until recently with all the UA-camrs criticizing Sephora kids 😅thankfully I learned before it’s too late.❤she is a life saver literally
It’s been 5 years since I followed your videos. I love how you talk about makeup in detail yet it’s so easy to understand. You’re getting better and better everyday. Much love ❤❤❤

Hello, I have watched the 5 tips to use concealer in your videos. Can you make one focusing on cream concealer and its brush or make a full makeup video with just using cream concealer for your everyday look . Thank you.❤
I’ve been buying drugstore since I was a teen and I’ll be 26 soon and nothing feels better than getting a drugstore product that performs like luxury. I just can’t justify spending so much on an item that can be just as good or even better 1/4 of the price. I’ll always swear by wet n wild photofocus matte foundation and revlon colorstay oily/combo.
Thank u so much for the video and the way u just explain what’s best for us Like the first time i don’t feel overwhelmed with products and what it’s best at our age Thanks♥️

one thing id like to add is look for someone with a similar skin tone to you in terms of influencers recommending products!! I have medium dark skin, and I used to take recommendations and things from people who had much paler skin than me, and it just made me feel worse about myself in general because that same shade of hot pink looked so different on the white, paler influencers I used to idolise compared to how it looked on me. Now I definitely look for recommendations from people who look like me (e.g. Monica ravichandran is a great, honest influencer if you have medium dark brown skin!!), and it leads to a lot less money wasted on products that'll just end up in the bin, as well as wearing makeup that suits my features a lot more!! :) love the video

Hi actually I'm just a teen and also don't wear any makeup before I want to find my correct shades in lipstick, eyeshadow, blush ... For daily natural look makeup can you put a brief video about this❤pls
I'm 26 year old girl going to be 27 year old in May 2024 . I recently found her & i loved her videos & the tips & tricks she told about makeup. I'm just a beginner who is getting more & more interested in makeup from last 2 years, i even started using skincare products from last 2 years before that i never even applied a Sunscreen forget Makeup. I do regret not getting into Skincare sooner if i did my skin would have thanked me. Sometimes i even wonder how did i even spent my teenage years without any skincare or makeup products. I used only Kajal & Body lotion in Summer & Nivea skin cream in winter like that's it these are the only products i used from birth till the age of 23. So like i'm completley agreeing with what she is saying. You don't need to put too much makeup products on your face in your teenage years because your skin already have that natural flush & youthfull look but if you do start putting makeup products it's your choice anyway still i would suggest using skincare products specifically a routine consisting of CTMS - Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer & Sunscreen+ LipBalm.
The reason I personally really needed a more expensive foundation is that I wanted my redness covered and also for it to not slip into creaces. And bb/cc creams are too dark for my pale skin, cheap brands often don't have the right shades, or they are not in store/ in stock. You do not need a product because it will nessecarly look better than a good drug store product, but because you have more specific needs and wants. But you need to figure those out first.
@@slabslayb Hydration is pretty much the best aid. But my skin doesn't technically have any issues, or nothing I could simply treat with a cream. I have most likely a skin condition and generally sensitive skin, eyes, everything xD Stress and mental health might also play into it.
Thank you for the video 💕 could you tell us what shade you use for both of the blush recommendations? I have a similar skin tone as you, it would help a lot 🙏
Hello! A question from the international audience. I’m going to Seoul soon - what would be the top products that can be bought in Olive Young and absolutely should not be missed?
For me, sadly it's either a full coverage makeup (they have excellent staying power) or literally no base makeup. I live in a tropical area and summers are 2/3rd of the year and it's extremely sweaty and hot... skin tints and light coverage makeup sweats away tooooooo easily and leaves my face awkward with some areas of foundation and some areas run off... so I can only go full coverage or just bare skin... Haley, do you have any suggestions for me? I don't like applying powder on top of my makeup as it makes my whole skin look unnatural ...
Hehe I wish I had more of this advice in high school, but what would have especially helped is having better products. I could only afford drugstore back then, and concealers/foundations in the U.S. were so thick and had a very limited shade range. Everything was too light or too orange. I like that they pay attention to undertones now. And of course, the advice to take care of yourself from the inside first. Lots of water and balanced diet, and being active. Easy on the Starbucks, but good luck with that 🫠
@Haley Kim I have never done makeup before. I don't have flawless skin and I'm thinking of trying natural makeup look. So, I'm thinking of using Tirtir cushion and lipstick for that. Is it enough? Or do I have to apply face powder after the cushion? And is the Tirtir Cushion good for natural makeup or not?
I am 31, still listen to Haley make up advices ❤

It seems like there’s a lot of other teens/beginners in the comments so here’s some tips I’ve learned as an almost 17yo who’s been doing makeup since I was 12
- a good skin care routine will help you feel and look a lot better than makeup, even just washing your face and moisturizing before sleeping is great!
- cheap is not necessarily bad, brands like e.l.f, L.A.Colors, Essence, and Wet ‘n Wild are affordable and really great quality!

- always always wash your hands before you touch your face, eyes, pimples, or before you do your skin care, bacteria spreads very easily
- acne, blemishes, and dark spots are normal and beautiful, don’t let them discourage you
- always wear sunscreen! It’s super important and protects you, even in winter
- if you want whiter teeth without using whitening strips I recommend Arm & hammer toothpaste, or you can mix baking soda into your toothpaste, it helps remove stains without damaging your teeth, floss daily, brush 2-3x a day
- drink lots of water, it really helps in so many ways
- get as much sleep as you can
- I personally like lip gloss and lip oils so much more than lipstick, they hydrate your lips and you don’t have to worry about finding a perfect shade
- don’t waste your money on super expensive makeup and skin care, expensive doesn’t always mean better, sometimes it’s worth it but not always, it’s better to save your money for other things
- makeup is supposed to make you feel pretty, not ugly, focus on what you enjoy and what makes you feel better about your natural beauty
- always check your makeup in natural lighting before going out, sometimes too much orange/white light makes your makeup look especially cakey
- wash your hair brushes and clean any stuck on hair out, old grease, dirt, hair, dandruff can make your hair greasier faster
- instead of buying an eyeliner pencil/pen I like to use dark brown or black eyeshadow, put a little on your finger or on a small makeup brush and it gives a softer and more natural look
- highlighter as eyeshadow is one of my favorite things! It adds a subtle shine that looks really pretty
That’s all I can think of right now, feel free to add more tips in the replies!

I'm 18 and I don't know but I relate and see myself in you and see so many facial similarities,:))💖
But you need to figure those out first.
maybe you could look into skin care, maybe you find something that helps your redness
@@slabslayb Hydration is pretty much the best aid. But my skin doesn't technically have any issues, or nothing I could simply treat with a cream.
I have most likely a skin condition and generally sensitive skin, eyes, everything xD
Stress and mental health might also play into it.

Hi, Haley! Could you please teach makeup for gals who wear glasses next time? 🥺
She’s the big sister that I never had 💞💞
Hehe I wish I had more of this advice in high school, but what would have especially helped is having better products. I could only afford drugstore back then, and concealers/foundations in the U.S. were so thick and had a very limited shade range. Everything was too light or too orange. I like that they pay attention to undertones now.
And of course, the advice to take care of yourself from the inside first. Lots of water and balanced diet, and being active. Easy on the Starbucks, but good luck with that 🫠
Where are your earrings from? They’re so elegant on you!
